Benumbed all over, Lillian is no longer able to feel things anymore - her entire frame clearly drained and delibitated.
At the very moment she gets swallowed by the continuously upsurging body of water, her mind loses the function to process her situation and approaching doom. Instead, she just gets to think about some things that are not part of her expectations and will.
Once more, her head starts to get filled by memories of her beloved mother.

From that point onwards, she's all she can think of, her heart aching with agony and yearning as certain flashbacks just keep playing in her mind - her soft smile and caress, infectious giggles, loving gestures, unrivalled brilliance, and the way she looks at her as if she's all she has in this world. Lillian wanted to burst out in tears at that moment, but she couldn't since the water only brushed them off before they could even stream down.
