Back in her previous world, Lillian recalled that runway models are not allowed to smile.
They must not exhibit any personality since it's considered inappropriate and might distract the audience from the clothes. A fashion show is all about the designer, after all - and the clothes are the one that exude the designer's personality.
But then again, Lillian is both.
At first, she did think of not smiling for the entire show since the fact that a real person is modelling the dresses would distract people enough from the dresses themselves. However, she also tried to imagine how the entire walk would feel for her and those around her.
Not smiling may be a professional approach that reflects how serious the designers are in their ventures. Yet at the same time, she wants to do something else that is also just as important as succeeding - that is, to have fun.
