It's night time. After the event with Christopher and Sylvester, mother fed me and told me stories to help me go to sleep faster. She kissed my forehead; I smiled at her as she lifted the blanket over my body.
"Sweet dreams my lovely Ezra,"
"Aga,"
She smiled sweetly. Her slender fingers stroked my soft hair. She turned off the lights before walking out of the room. I yawned and closed my eyes.
[Thud]
Huh? What was that?
I opened my heavy eyes and tried to find the source of that thudding. But before I can look around, someone covered my vision. Who is this?! My small body easily got covered with a potato sack.
"Aagaa!" I screamed in fear.
Kidnap! This person is going to kidnap me!
Another loud thud was heard. The kidnapper's arms wrapped around me from the outside.
"Sh!" He shushed me violently, caused me to obediently stayed quiet.
The person started to walk around, jumping onto maybe the window frame. I breathed heavily. How did this man get in here? Magic? The protection magic cast by Christopher is already running out yesterday. If I got hurt, then that's that.
The thought of getting kidnapped in real life is so scary. I'm terrified. Please, anyone...
"You dare touch my little brother,"
I heard someone's voice from a distance. The kidnapper's movement stopped.
"You-"
Before the kidnapper finished his sentence, I heard a slash, and the grip of the kidnapper's arm loosened. I'm falling!
"Gaa!"
My stomach twisted because of the fall. I shut my eyes close, waiting for the impact. But someone caught me. My savior caught me! The person took off the potato sack out of me, and I could breathe easily. I coughed abruptly, and the person who saved me gently hugged me while patting my back.
"You're alright..."
Wait, this voice.
Raphael?
I weakly pushed his chest so I can look closely at his face. It is Raphael! He looked so, infuriated with a mix of concern. I looked down and saw the kidnapper's head is gone. Raphael cut his head that easily?! This image is horrifying. I've never seen a dead man in front of my eyes.
My body began to tremble because of extreme fear. My little hand clutched the shirt worn by Raphael. Raphael swiftly turned around and pressed my face against his chest so that I would not see the terrible sight.
"What happened?"
It's father's voice.
He sounded furious. I couldn't see what was going on since Raphael is blocking my entire view.
"Oh my God, Ezra! Is he alright?!" It was mother's voice. Her voice is shaky, and I could hear her running toward us.
She gently grasped me from Raphael's grip. Tears were falling down her beautiful eyes; she then hugged me tightly.
"Kidnapper," Raphael said. "I was walking past Ezra's room, and I heard a thud,"
"... This early?" Father asked with an exasperated sigh.
This early? What does that mean?
"What should we do?" Raphael asked.
"I'll order a wizard to cast a protection spell in Ezra's room. Since Christopher's protection spell is still weak, he won't be able to cast it on the entire room,"
"I see..."
The room turned silent. Mother's tears are falling to my forehead. I looked up at her worriedly. She sniffled and turned her head to father.
"Ezra will sleep in our room temporarily until the room is protected..." She said quietly. She wrapped her hands around me tightly as she walked past Raphael and father.
We're outside the room now. The room is reek of blood. I can breathe more easily since we're in the hallway. This is my first time of being outside the room. This house- this is a mansion. Long giant hallway, the outside is dark. No stars outside. I trembled and buried my face to my mother's chest.
It's quiet.
Eerily quiet.
This is a terrible night.
