Chapter 2 - The duel

It was pretty easy finding the arena... I mean it did have a big capital font on the outside saying "SKY LINE ARENA" you would either have to be blind or illiterate to miss it.

Aisho walked into the arena as he marvelled at the wide seating area it truly was massive. The arena floor itself was brimming with state of the art technology. He was familiar with the tech it allowed the arena floor itself to withstand the after-math of most duels that were fought on it, if it did take damage it was easily repairable.

"Impressive right?" Tsugi asked as she walked down from the stands towards Aisho.

"It is an impressive arena. Am guessing you're going to be watching?"

"Of-course I am the head after all. Plus I have to see for myself if you still haven't lost your touch."

At this Aisho chuckled "I did warn you... I mean am sure you saw this coming right?"

Tsugi only watched Aisho with her arms folded.

Aisho laughed when he saw this "That's pretty sneaky of you doing what you did. I mean if you wanted to reasure yourself you could have just asked." as he put his hand over his head and stretched himself.

"I wouldn't take her lightly Aisho she is a top student after-all."

"Hmm?" Aisho pondered for a more moment before asking Tsugi: "Will she be able to beat me?"

"Like i said she is one of the top students after all."

"So if you had such a person why would you call me?"

"Because you are an invaluable asset to have. Plus there are some powerful pawns participating in this game this time." Tsugi brang out her phone then turned to leave.

Aisho stared after her and after waiting for a few minutes his opponent finally arrived.

Arane arrived at the arena to find Aisho staring at her with excitement.

"What took you so long! I was beginning to think you got lost"

"Shutup" Arane couldn't believe this guy his arrogance shined through his voice.

"By the way I didn't get your name back there... I like to know the names of people am about to beat."

Arane pointed the weapon (a red sword to be more specific) that she had by her side and pointed it at Aisho. "I would worry about yourself first."

"What a fierce opponent you have my compliments." Aisho replied whilst doing a bowing gesture.

Arane was a little puzzled they were about to start a duel but this person didn't have a woapon on him, was he a martial artist? Furthermore he looked unconcerned by the situation he just had a wild look of excitement on his face.

"Where is your weapon?"

"Oh... It's unlikely i will need one. By the way I thought we were meant to be starting."

Arane was conflicted because she didn't know her opponent's abilities but it was too late to back off now, plus his arrogance was really irritating.

She coursed power through her sword and she shot out a ball of flame that came charging at Aisho. Right before it came to hit him he nimbly dodged out of the way by launching himself into the air.

Arane expecting this had already launched another set of flame projectiles, to where he was most likely to land. Three projectiles that were heading for him in a V shape, the way they were launched was to mitigate the chances of the opponent from dodging wether u tried to go right or left you would be hit either way.

Aisho noticed this but he had a limited window to dodge, after all he was still in mid air! He never thought that he would be caught in such a position but thankfully he had his guard up, as a series of shots rung out and propelled him further up into the air gaining lift, he landed back down like a ballerina.

Arane was struck with confusion momentarily she was sure her opponent would get hit, instead a series of shots had rung out as he confidently stood infront of her.

Aisho whistled he never thought he would have to utilize one of his assortment of weapons. In his hands he brandished two guns that were dark in colour and looked menacing. In fact they were so dark it seemed as thought they were warping the light around them.

"Haha... you made me eat my words i actaully was forced to bring out a weapon. Lets hope for both of our sake what you did wasn't purely based on luck." Aisho was bustling with excitement now he truly was enjoying this.

Arane was alarmed she had not seen her opponent draw his weapons, ontop of this the set of guns must have been a powerful caliber in order to create such recoil to propel him out of the situation she created. As she went over what had just happened she came to the realisation that her opponent wasn't so simple, in order to have got himself out of the situation in the small gap time he had and expertly dodge the attack would mean her opponent was highly skilled. She praised herself for not underestimating her opponent because to look down on your opponent would be asking for defeat.

But now she was really really puzzled about one thing. Where did he draw his weapons from? "Where did you draw those guns from?"

"Ah for me to tell you that you will have to beat me. So how abo..." before he could finish his sentence Arane had already launched her self at him.

Aisho was at first startled but then welcomed the change of atmosphere. He decided to create distance between him and her but she had seen this and had launched another set of flame projectiles at him to where he was most likely to go. Unfortunately her opponent wasn't so easy to just be caught out by a simple series of attacks and just simple changed direction at the last second. But this change of direction allowed Arane to close distance between her self and him her goal was to use her advanatage of a close range weopon against her opponent's disadvantage since he had no close range weopon. But Aisho was very much aware of this and decided to shoot at her to test her reactions his intention wasn't to nessarily hit her but to see what she was capable of. The added benefit from firing at her, was that it would slow his opponent down as they prioritized the attack launched from him.

After Arane dodged her opponent's attacks that seemed to be that of a novice: easily dodgeable. She decided use a more powerful ability 'Rising Phoenix' which would usually fly and follow its target and envelop the target in a burst of flames add on the speed that this attack possessed it wasn't the easiest of things to dodge. Aisho wasn't fazed by this though and simply aimed his gun at the phoenix and fired a bullet making it prematurely blow up before it reached its target. However this gave further information to Arane her opponent's weapon. A simple mere bullet wouldn't have had an effect on her attack it either had to be an energy blast/bullet projectile or a mana bullet. An energy weopon would usually be dependent on crystallized mags as a source of ammo, but for mana weapons like hers it would totally depend on the user channeling mana into their weapons.

"Arane as entertaining as this is am pressed for time. I declare you as the victor" Aisho's excited face had long gone and he no longer spoke with arrogance, as he decided to make his way out of the arena still brandishing his two guns.

Arane was beliweildered by this change of events. She was unsure on how to reply back and could only stare as Aisho walked away from the duel. She had won but it didn't feel like a victory rather it seemed to have been snatched away from her.
