Chapter 38 - Auction part 2

Looking at the Book cover that is exactly identical to that of the book he found in the tomb of Seraph, Will was completely convinced that it must definitely the legend class and was waiting until the last second.

As the auction house as silent for a whole minute without anyone daring to bid it, Cloud Fairy spoke, "so, no bids? Once... Twice..."

Just then, Will bid it for 21 gold but Cloud Fairy spoke, "Seat no.31 bid it for 25 gold. Any other bids?"

Hearing it, Will muttered, "I knew someone will come into my way. But, it doesn't matter. Even if I have to spend 200 gold, I will acquire it. This is priceless stuff."

Will immediately bid for 26 gold.

At seat no. 31, MartialScholar frowned as his bidding was beaten, "someone is bidding for this. It's the guy who bought that paladin hidden class. Let's check how far he can go..." Then, he raised the bid to 30 gold.

Will stayed silent until CloudFairy spoke after 10 seconds of silence, "30gold once..." Then, he raised the bid to 31 gold.

CloudFairy announced, "Seat no.18 bid for 31 gold. Any other bids?"

As direct voice communication was cut off and players can't speak out, MartialScholar just silently thought to himself, "Hmm, I forgot that the item he bought earlier has the memories of the first emperor. So, I can safely say that he was interested in the history of this game like me. Let's bid one more time and see his reaction."

As the bid was once again raised to 35 gold, Will frowned, "this guy seems like testing my bottom price? Let's see how would you react to this."

Instead of raising it by 1 gold while waiting until the end, Will directly raised it by 15 more gold to show his bottom price.

With a smile on her face, Cloud Fairy announced, "Seat no.18 bids for 50 gold."

As he raised the price by 15 gold directly, MartialScholar nodded, "I see, so he is indirectly saying that 50 is his final price, eh. Well, I don't even have that much amount on me to think of raising it further, anyway."

After ten seconds of silence, CloudFairy announced, "50 gold once, twice... sold. Congratulations Seat no.18 for acquiring the mysterious tome."

As 50 gold got deducted automatically, the book appeared on his hand, and immediately, he received a notification from the system.

*Ding. Congratulations on finding the tome of Michael. Upon consuming, your class will change to Elementalist and become the successor of Archangel Michael.

*Ding. You are already the successor of Seraph. You cannot use it.

"Yes, it is a legend class. Let's just save it for the future. Maybe, I can give it to Aster or someone or I can just sell it for a huge price, later."

After throwing it in the inventory, Will concentrated on the auction as CloudFairy, the auctioneer added a new rule in order to make things more lively and increase the competition.

The new rule states that the difference between the two bids must not cross 5 gold.

After stating the rule, she took out the 7th item.

It's a blue stone with a swirl pattern on it that looks identical to an augment stone. The only difference was the size. It's bigger than the usual augment tone and is at least the size of her fist.

She spoke, "as a lot of you can recognize it, this stone is indeed an augment stone, which is used to enhance the equipment. The only difference is that you can directly enhance a piece of equipment to +15 by 100% chance with this large augment stone. The bidding starts at 20 gold."

Chaos ensued in the auction house as players started bidding it crazily one after another. It started from 21 gold and eventually ended at 53 gold, which was once again won by SupremeMaster while Will never bid for it as he didn't have any use.

The auction continued with CloudFairy taking out the 8th item, which is a level-120 Epic grade dual daggers made by a Grandmaster. Naturally, all of the stats are unlocked. In the end, after fighting out with Will for a while, SwiftKiller, who is the leader of RoyalChaos won it by spending 70 gold.

"Damn it. I didn't think these guilds have this much amount of money to spend. I really underestimated them.

Sigh... can't do anything about it.

I purely collected by buying from others while they have hundreds of members pooled in the money together.

Doesn't matter. I still have 180 gold. It is enough for the last two."

With a smile on her face, CloudFace introduced the 9th item as the box was brought before her, "now, there are only two items left in the auction. Like before, these last two are the best of the two. Here we go."

As she took out one more book, which honestly looks like a modern-day artbook for elementary students.

"Behold. This is the Book of Destiny. It contains only 10 pages. But, you can store you or your allies' skills inside of it whenever you have time.

You can use it without any consumption of things like mana or stamina nor it has cool down.

But, it is only one-time use. After using the skill, the page becomes empty and you can refill it later."

Looking at it, Will wanted to scream, "my book of destiny" but since it is useless and out of character, he just mumbled with a shocking look on his face, "I can't believe Book of Destiny appeared at this stage before me. I still remember buying it before from some guy for 10 million credits after 2 years into the game. Even though it's value was now 60-70 gold, after two years, it will be equivalent to 10000 gold or perhaps more.

I guess it was really a destiny."

Because the high-level skills of their classes all have long cooldowns, everyone sought this one but the competition once again died out once it crossed 50 gold and only two players remained. Seat no.18, that is Will and Seat no.1, who didn't participate in the auction until now, a female player named LittleSeven.

Unknown to them, she was the unnamed fifth ranker and also one of the guild leaders who refused Will's invitation.

Will, who decided to get it at all costs, once again raised the bid by 5 gold. CloudFairy announced, "Seat no.18 bids for 55gold. Any other bids?"

LittleSeven, who was also determined to get it raised it 60. As the bid reached 60, a frown appeared on Will's face and he began to think, "If I put aside 100 gold aside for the last item, which was bound to be legendary equipment, I can spend 80 gold on this."

As CloudFairy started announcing, "60 gold once, twice..." she stopped and then spoke, "Seat no.18 bids the item for 65 gold. Any other bids?"

Upon hearing it, LittleSeven's face gotten dark, "If he raised it one more time, I'm done for."

After she raised it to 70 gold, Will immediately raised it to 75 gold upon which she became silent as she was out of money while everyone else was amazed to see the wealth of Seat no.18. After all, he spent 150 gold on three items. But, then, they also felt relief that he won't be able to participate in the bidding of the final item.

As 75 more gold disappeared from his account leaving with only 105 gold 60 silver, Will looked at the book and smiled as he threw it in the inventory.

CloudFairy, who looks like she was extremely pleased with this auction because of large transactions spoke as she opened the last box, "Adventurers, this is the last item of the auction and is no doubt the best item in your eyes. Behold..."

As soon as he saw the item, Will, who was anticipating the last item to be best was greatly disappointed unlike the rest of them who were excited for the same reason.

CloudFairy smiled as she introduced the item, "as you can see, this is a level 1 legendary grade Armor with all stats unlocked and is a unique growth type equipment. It depends on the level of the wearer.

If a level-1 wears it, then, it is a level-1 armor and if a level-200 wears it, then, it becomes a level-200 armor."

Meanwhile, upon hearing her explanation, Will scoffed, "yeah, right. But all growth type equipment has two obvious faults. One is that you can't enhance them more than +10. And all growth type equip are bound items. Although it is a good thing that they can't be dropped, once you equip it, it can't be sold or traded.

I would have tried for it even if it' a weapon but even if it's legendary grade equipment, ultimately, it's still an armor. Let's forget it. With the remaining 100 gold, let's buy the land to construct the stores so that I can have other sources to earn gold.
