BAM!!!
The speeding water truck's brake failed as it hit me with the momentum of well.... a moving truck. The impact knocked me into the air as I was thrown a few meters away.
If that didn't do me in... the ever-helpful concrete road did the finishing job. My head slammed hard on the road and bounced twice to make sure I was really dead. Warm blood oozed out of my head as my consciousness faded.
Luckily I wasn't in much pain.
Oh, wait a minute. I think I might have spoken too soon. It looks like I am still alive. My entire body feels like a thousand elephants have trampled over me. I could feel every inch of my body aching in pain. Despite all that, the silver lining was that I haven't kicked the bucket yet.
Oooh, lucky me!!!
I would have preferred the sweet embrace of death over this pain. Damn it, it hurts so much! Anyway, first things first. I need to know where I am. Am I still in the middle of the road I was crossing? Were people gawking at me like a freakshow as I bled on the road? Has anyone called the ambulance yet? Or am I on the operating table already?
Waking up in the middle of an operation would be a perfect ending for this episode of shitty luck I had, wouldn't it? I gritted my teeth and tried to open my eyes to ascertain my surroundings. Severe pain flooded through my head. I almost fainted from it, but I took a few deep breaths to calm myself and opened my eyes.
And.... my mind blanked for a moment.
Well, for several moments actually. But, that would be nitpicking and so I moved on. I took in my surroundings and found myself in completely unfamiliar territory. Lush green trees, dense foliage, pure air, clear sky, circling large birds, and bright sunlight. My eyesight wasn't clear either. It was as if I have woken up from a long sleep. Things were a little blurry, but I could still identify it.
Sunlight? Didn't I meet with an accident in the night? Don't tell me that I have been lying here for the entire night. Shite! And where the heck am I? This looks like somewhere in the countryside. And hell, when did even countryside have trees like this? It almost looks like I am in a forest.
Did someone moved my body and dumped me here in the wilderness? What the heck? I would be fine if you hadn't taken me to a hospital, but trying to hide my body in the wilderness was a whole new level of escapism. If I find the bastard who did this.... grrrr...
I slowly tried to move my arms. But, soon I found it too heavy to actually move it. After trying hard for a very long time, I sat up and looked at my surroundings. My head was throbbing in pain and I could hardly keep my eyes open. My entire body was in pain as I took in my surroundings.
Wait a moment.... this place looks completely alien. I haven't even seen trees like this on the internet. Where am I exactly? As I took in the surroundings more and more, an uneasy feeling welled up inside me.
As time passed, my eyesight cleared a little bit. That's when the first shock to my system came. I blinked for a moment and shook my head to confirm what I was seeing was real.
My clothes have changed. Gone were the shirts and trousers. I was wearing some kind of a Daoist robe. My arms.... they had several wounds that didn't look like something that was inflicted due to a truck hitting me or being dragged on the road. They looked as if someone had slashed me with a knife.
The wounds were scalded over as if it was recently made. The blood crusts over them were clear indicators of it. my entire arm was covered in blood. The sleeves were ripped in several places. It would be fitting to say that my sleeves were slashed into rags.
But, most of all, I didn't think that the hand belonged to me. A bad premonition rose up inside me and I eyed my tired body critically. While the skin color and body type looked similar, I was able to clearly identify that this body didn't belong to me. Even though the body was almost identical to my build, I was able to figure out a few very glaring differences easily.
For one, the skin was too soft. While my original skin wasn't coarse or anything, this level of softness wasn't mine. Then came the small difference in muscles. I had sported a slight belly due to my deskjob. But, this body was perfectly fit. I could feel the strength inside this body even in this weakened state. And there were those small discrepancies like fingers being a little leaner, eyesight being more clear, and the hair being longer. And not to mention that particular spot... there was an upgrade there too.
Heavens, what exactly happened to me?
Not a moment later, severe pain flooded through my head making me shut my eyes and furrow my brows. The pain took over me as I laid back down with a thud. My entire body convulsed as I lay there thrashing on the ground.
After what felt like a long time, the pain subsided and I was able to open my eyes and look at the circling birds overhead. There were two sets of memories inside my mind. One belonged to me, and the other to this body. Now, it became clear to me what had happened and why I felt so discomfited in this body.
I had died. Truck san's loving kiss of death had done me in. Later, I had transmigrated from my original body, to be precise, it could be said that my soul had transmigrated and ended up in this new body.
Ironically enough, this new body's name was also Ling Ye. But, unlike me, he was still in his teens. Hale and healthy. And to boot it, he practiced cultivation too. Yup, this Ling Ye was a cultivator like in those Xianxia novels.
Heavens, isn't this reincarnation trope?
Then, doesn't it mean that I have become the main character? In that case, there should be something that would be helpful to me to dominate this world and stand on top of it.
Ha ha ha... I must have good karma for such a great thing to happen to me. How many people have wished to be so lucky to be reincarnated into a cultivation world? Luckily, I am the one provided with this golden opportunity.
I can't wait to walk in the air. Behead demons and devils from a thousand miles away with a flying sword. Blow out fireballs and create lightning dragons out of thin air. Wine and dine with immortal fairies. Face slap my enemies with awesome cheats and watch them suffer from their inability to do anything to me.
Ha ha ha...
Let the world tremble, for I, Ling Ye, have been transmigrated to this world.
Ha Ha Ha....
