Chapter 1 - Pitch Black and a new challenge.

"You know nothing of the bottomless malice of the human heart."

With those words his face splitted into a grin so creepy, that most wouldn't be so sure it belonged to a human. Even if Isaac Netero was once considered by many the strongest human, and therefore the strongest creature in the world, his end was nothing more than a suicide attack to stop someone who outclassed him in every way.

Wasn't that what he wished for all this time? To face an enemy so strong that he would have to give all of himself fighting it? "It" was the right pronoun, as no person would ever be able to come close to his sheer power. And to think that in the dark continent there were beasts even more dangerous than the Ant's king, and he couldn't do anything about it, he was forced to retreat to the "known" world, and keep it as a secret.

During his last moments, where he stopped his heart and activated the bomb, where time seemed to slow down and he lived again all the training and praying he did, to be one with the nature, the perfect balance that gave his body an unexplainable vitality, even that was gone as his severe blood loss reduced his body to that of a weak and dying old man.

He couldn't help to think it would be nice to have another shot, and to confrontate enemies as strong as Meruem. To have some more time to train... He started a little late in his life.. He could've done better... Well.. No use crying over spilled milk, right?

[Netero's POV]

Pitch, bottomless black. As if my eyes were been recided.. to be honest not only my eyes.. I couldn't feel anything at all.

'This must be the afterlife huh' he thought to himself, and took whatever peace he could find in the darkness.

Then It came, a blinding light, so strong that after I realized it was there, it was so intense that the difference between the pure white and pure black was nothing, as If I still couldn't see anything.

"Rejoice, my follower, for I have heard your last wishes."

The voice was... Divine. I always believed in the existence of God. As I trained in the wilderness, I thought it was impossible that such a perfect organism that was the earth could have been a mere coincidence. Even if the existence of the dark continent made me doubt it, but who knows, even that nutjob of a place hid some balance behind the apparent chaos.. I've never seen that much of it.

"For you lived your life following a sane lifestyle, living in peace the wilderness, and achieved your top potential as a man, I'll give you, as you called it, "another shot". " What I will refer to as "the Divine", as no other name could give justice to his greatness, said in an amused tone... to be honest I felt as I was naked in front of him. Even if I didn't have a body.

"And I will grant you an ulterior gift to take with you, in memory of the days in which you fought with such grace, all of it dedicated to me."

I was about to reply, even If I admit that the sheer presence of The Divine made me reconsider my words more than once, when suddenly, It was all again pitch black. and then a blinding light, again, but I knew it was different from before, so I didn't thought about an endless loop... It didn't have that divine presence to it. And as I was starting to feel my body again, I came to a realization. It was heavy. so heavy that I couldn't move. I felt like I had no muscles at all. And out of the blue, I started crying. I didn't know why, but my body, my mind, thought it was the best choice, the only way to survive.

Guess what? My mind was right. Opening my watering eyes I saw ruins everywhere, or at least it looked like it. The smell of the smoke was unbearable and I felt my lungs ache I pain. I am really weak, am I not? Then two figures, hid in shadows by what I guess to be the sun. They started talking in a too familiar language.

"WHAT IS A BABY DOING HERE?!W WEREN'T THE SOLDIERS SUPPOSED TO SEARCH FOR ANY SURVIVORS?" said a very, very concerned feminine voice, my my, to hear such a tone from a woman for myself. it takes me back to the good ol' times.

"HOW SHOULD I KNOW?! THEN AGAIN, FORGET THAT! WHY IS HE SMILING LIKE HE IS THE HAPPIEST BABY IN THE WORLD?!"

said a taken aback masculine voice. Hey, no need to get jealous.

"HOW CAN YOU BE SO CRUEL?! HE IS HAPPY TO BE RESCUED!" said the woman, and took what I guessed to be what was I put in, it was so soft to be stone after all. Wait, isn't this woman a little to big? A giant? I have seen some extreme thing in the dark continent.. but giants?

"We should immediately get this kid checked for any bruises or worse...Oh look... There is a name tag? I.. iizaack Netrow? Isaac Netero?"

Then, crying it is.

"UEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!"

"LOOK AT WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!!" The woman screams at the man.

"WHAT HAVE I DONE? YOU WERE THE ONE TO MAKE HIM CRY!" and so my crying overlapped at two voices screaming at each other.

First ten minutes here, and I'm going to get an headache. Great.
