Ms. Croft, Lorraine, and Eric followed the directions given by Ms. Carter towards the rooms of those who were locked up.
"I unlocked all of the doors of the rooms with people in them," reported Ms. Carter.
"Thanks!" responded Ms. Croft through the transmitter. "You two, split up and start opening doors. Inform the people inside of the situation then tell then to tell the others."
"Got it" both Lorraine and Eric replied. They split up and began to open doors and inform those inside of the situation.
Lorraine heard a low rumble of footsteps coming from down the hallway. She turned her head to look down the hallway. Eric, Ms. Croft, and those who were out of their rooms stopped and shifted their gazes towards the end of the hallway as well.
Soldiers began to run by and some turned down the hallway.
"Oh crap!" Lorraine got ready to fight back, as did Ms. Croft and Eric.
"Wait!" screamed one of the soldiers. "Are you with that masked man? If so, we are not your enemies. He let us go and told us to get our friends out of here!"
Lorraine, Eric, and Ms. Croft relaxed. Ms. Croft and Eric continued to open doors, but Lorraine had a bigger concern.
"Where is the masked man? Is he alright?" asked Lorraine.
"He was still standing in the same room when he ordered us to leave," replied one of the soldiers.
"Tell me where he is," demanded Lorraine.
"I'll take you to him."
"Thank you."
Ren looked down at the arm that was once missing. It now fully restored.
Ren then collapsed to his knees as his side burst out in pain again. He held his side as it felt that it was going to tear itself apart. Ren gritted his teeth in pain.
The pain began to expand deeper, slowly spreading itself throughout Ren's body.
"What in the world is causing this?" Ren wondered. "Is it the core?"
"ARRRGGGGHHH!"
Ren shouted in pain and leaned himself against the wall of the room.
"I need to find the others, before someone else finds me," Ren decided as he slowly dragged himself out of the room and into the hallway. His vision began to get blurry and his head began to pound.
Ren began to hear footsteps hurrying towards him.
"Ren!" Lorraine's voice shouted.
"Lorraine?" mumbled Ren. Lorraine caught Ren as he was about to fall over.
"Ren, what's wrong?" Ren could tell she was worried by the concerned tone of her voice.
"I don't know. My side... I think it's the core."
"Here, I'll take off the mask." Lorraine grabbed the mask, but Ren's hand clasped down on Lorraine's wrist.
"No! I can't risk anyone seeing my face!" Ren yelled. Lorraine hesitated then let go.
"You, soldier. Where are the doctors? You have doctors here, right?"
"Yes, I'll lead you to one right away." The soldier threw one of Ren's arms over his shoulder while Lorraine took the other.
Ms. Croft, Eric, and the remaining soldiers continued to get everyone out of their rooms and sent them to fight their way out of the facility and back to their homes.
"Where did Lorraine go?" asked Ms. Croft.
"She went to find Ren a little while ago." answered Eric.
"Well, let's try to find them and regroup. We accomplished what we set out to do here. We even managed to save those that weren't brainwashed yet."
"What about the brainwashing drug?" asked Eric.
"That's right. I almost forgot. Do you have anything on that Ms. Carter," asked Ms. Croft though the transmitter.
"I only have when they were scheduled to receive another shipment of it. It doesn't look like this facility is the one distributing it. Another one is mass producing it."
"In that case, we will stick to the original plan and regroup with Ren and Lorraine."
Lorraine and the soldier carried Ren down a series of hallways and down a couple flights of stairs until they found a bunch of people in white coats that seemed to be in panic gathering files and various medicines.
"Ms. Carter are you there?" Lorraine asked.
"Yes, go ahead," Ms. Carter responded.
"Could you unlock this door into the doctor's room."
"Hold on, I need to figure out your location before figuring out which door to unlock... Ok, got it. It should be unlocked now."
The little light above the handle glowed green and Lorraine opened the door and helped Ren through it.
All of the people stopped and stared in horror as they saw the intruders step through the door.
"Someone please help, I need a doctor! Any doctor!" yelled Lorraine.
The doctor's looked around at each other, then back at Lorraine.
"Why should we help you?" retorted one of the doctors.
CHING!
An icicle grazed the cheek of the doctor that spoke out and sunk itself into the wall behind him. Blood trickled down from the cut and dripped off of his chin.
"Because if you don't help me, I'll kill you and everyone else in this room!" Lorraine warned as she glared, her eyes wide, at the doctors in the room.
"I'll help." spoke one of the doctors. A doctor with a white beard, short white hair, and glasses stepped forward. He had a gentle face and smiled weakly.
"Thank you, doctor." breathed Lorraine.
"Please, follow me." The doctor turned and walked further back into the room through a couple of doorways. Lorraine and the soldier followed with Ren until they can to a room with a monitor and a bunch of sensors.
"Please, lay him on this table." the doctor directed.
Lorraine and the soldier obeyed and laid Ren on the table.
"I'm guessing you want the mask to stay?" the doctor inquired. Lorraine nodded. "So what seems to be the problem?"
"He complained of pain in his side. He believes that it may be his core, which you should be familiar with doctor."
"Indeed." The doctor began to hook up some sensors and then brought over what looked to be an X-ray scanner. "I'm going to have to take a couple of shots to try and understand what is going on inside."
