Chapter 31 - Chapter 30

Leon spent a few days in that state where he had no motivations whatsoever to do anything, but eventually, he resumed his training because it was the only thing he could do on that damn island. Regardless, Leon started to mark the days in a new tree since the first one was already pretty beaten up.

"Sorry, Wilson. Sorry for damaging you so much, but considering that you depressed me, I guess we are even."

Leon named the first tree he marked the days 'Wilson' and named the second tree as Wilson's son. That tree would probably make Leon feel depressed in a year, too. So, he mercilessly marked the days in the second tree. He started to wonder if he was already going insane by naming trees, but Leon felt like he was still mentally healthy, and he would stay so as long as he doesn't start to harm himself to prove that he was alive or something.

Now that Leon learned the Water Bullet, he decided to learn the strengthened version. The process was quite simple, he just had to pour mana in it, and then the water became ice.

Congratulations! You have learned the skill: Ice Bullet.

You obtained 01 status points.

Cost: 10 mana

Since Leon had a vast amount of mana, the recovery stat, and a nearly infinite amount of blue angel leaves, he leveled up those skills pretty quickly. In half an hour, he leveled both skills, and they reached level seven, and it was usually at that level that the process would slow down, so Leon decided to learn other skills.

Leon learned earth bullet quite fast since he already knew the process; the only difference it was that he had to pour more mana, even more mana than he had to use while creating the Ice Bullet. Things only got difficult with wind and fire, Leon had to use less mana to create them, but since his control over those elements were weak, the spell was easy to fail because the energy could disperse.

However, Leon eventually managed to learn those two. He felt like it was time to create bigger magic projectiles, but he gave up on the idea. Leon was feeling like he was neglecting his primary goal of learning how to control more objects with his mana. After four months of practicing, he barely could control four spears at the same time.

"Well, maybe this is enough… if I use my mana to control the platform that will transport me and use two spears to blind the enemies, maybe I can survive the trip."

Although megalodon was a terrifying creature, Leon was pretty sure its eyes weren't made of diamonds and that he could damage them. The problem was, what if he gets attacked by more than one. Those monsters were big as hell, so perhaps only four could attack him at the same time. So, following that logic, Leon could only escape such ambush if he could control eight spears at the same time without considering his platform. Leon had a long way ahead of him before he could control so many things. Besides, he didn't have the mana to control one object permanently without relying on blue angel leaves.

Considering that Leon couldn't see the monster approaching underwater, he would have to fly quite high to have enough time to react, and thus, he would have to consider being attacked by dragons… but if he could blind megalodons, he probably could blind dragons as well. The problem will be if he finds one that can destroy an airplane almost instantly, like the first one he saw.

"Suddenly, building a ship made of steel doesn't sound a stupid idea anymore…"

Considering that Leon could now make steel plates in ten minutes, it wasn't a bad idea. The problem was that he had no knowledge of how to build a ship. A vehicle of that size had many mechanisms to keep it running. Besides, even if he manages to create one, he didn't have the engine to make it move. Relying on his blasts of wind to move a ship heavy enough to withstand the attacks of a Megalodon was too unrealistic… in the end, Leon could only rely on speed to escape from the monsters and power to buy time.

Leon kept training and trying to visualize other ways to escape the island without having to use brute force. At some point, he wondered if it wasn't a bad idea to wear some iron boots and use them to reach high altitudes and find his way back home like that. However, soon Leon gave up on the idea; he still could remember that he had a hard time breathing when the airplane fell. Besides, it wasn't that high, and dragons could fly at that height. If he tries to fly even higher, he would have a difficult time keeping his body warm.

"Another unrealistic plain… even if I can use magic, everything is over once I stop breathing."

Leon also considered the possibility of covering his body in mirrors to keep his presence hidden, but he imagined that wouldn't work. That megalodon didn't attack him because Leon had a lot of meat, it was because of his mana. Once Leon recognized that he gave up on that idea. It was possible that all those monsters could detect his presence by feeling his mana.

"So incredibly annoying…"

Leon even considered the idea of creating an artificial island, he could create all kinds of dirt, and he could make trees grow, but to make such a thing float, he would have to create some massive air containers and put it under the artificial island. Rather, the entire submerged side of the island had to be made of those containers. It was another unrealistic plain… in the end, the fasted method was to open the path with blood and steel.
