Alexa's P.O.V.
I woke up, I could tell I was back in my room. I opened my eyes and looked around, my room was turned into a makeshift hospital room. I heard the beeping of the heart monitor, I felt the cast on my leg, the stitches on my side, I could see the stitches on my shoulder where Cain sliced me, and I could feel the IV in my arm. I could smell Cain, then I heard the door open.
I heard him gasp and I looked over at him. I could tell his wolf was at the surface. He softly growled. "Cain." He walked over to my bed and sat on the edge and grabbed my hand. He was rubbing his thumb on the back of my hand,
"Please say something." He looked me over than back at me. "How bad?" "It's not that bad." I tried to calm him down. "Alexa don't lie to me I can see the state you're in." I sighed.
"Okay, they had to reset my leg and cast it, I have a concussion, a four inch gash on my side, luckily missing all my organs, and I have a lot of aconite and silver still in my body." I didn't want to mention the gash on my arm knowing that he did it.
He growled. "This is all my fault." I reached over and grabbed his hand. "Cain how many times do I have to tell you this is not your fault." For the first time since he walked in I looked him over.
He had blood all over his face and a gash on his hip. "Cain whose blood is on you?" Without missing a beat he answered. "Mr. Reed's, I finally did what I should have done a long time ago. I finally am free." I tried to sit up, Cain reached out and helped me up putting another pillow behind me. "I am glad you did it, you needed to."
Cain walked to the other side of the bed, and got in and laid down. We just laid there together, him holding me to his chest, for a few minutes. There was a knock on my door. I put a little space between Cain and I. He growled and pulled me back.
"What are you doing?" "I am never letting you go again." I just shook my head. "Come in." Eli walked in and over to the bed, "How are you doing?" "I have been better." Eli looked between Cain and I then looked me over. "So what exactly happened?" I felt Cain tense behind me. I am guessing he never told them about his part in my torture.
That is not my place to say, if he wants them to know he can tell them. "Mr. Reed would torture me trying to get information out of me. I never said a word to him, I only ever talked to Finn." I looked over at Cain a little worried. "Wait where is Finn? Is he okay?" Cain spoke. "He is fine, he is staying in the guest bedroom. I explained to Max how he helped you and how he helped me."
I relaxed knowing he was safe. Eli looked around the room then back at me like he wanted to say something. "Okay what is it Eli? You obviously have something on your mind." Eli took a deep breath then spoke not really looking at anyone in particular. "What is going on?" I didn't really know what he meant. "What do you mean?" He looked between Cain and I. I sighed knowing this could go one of two ways. "Eli, Cain cares for me and I care for him, and he feels guilty for what happened." I felt Cain's heart beat spike a little.
Eli spoke. I guess not wanting to talk about it anymore "Well I am going to go. I have a meeting with Artemis, Lily, and Elijah to give them an update on you." "Okay tell them I said hey, and I should be back soon." He nodded then left.
I looked back at Cain, he was smiling. "What are you so happy about?" "You said you cared for me." I playfully slapped him. "Oh don't go letting it get to that big head of yours. You saved me Cain of course I am going to care for you." He looked down a little disappointed. I leaned over and gave him a light kiss on the cheek. "A token of my gratitude to my hero." His eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas morning. Then his face got serious.
He was studying my eyes. "You know when I first saw you after you got kidnapped I just wanted to run to you, and take you away and never leave your side." I smiled, I had never taken how much he cared for me to heart.
Seeing him sitting there telling me this I could tell he loved me, and was telling the truth. After a few minutes I fell asleep.

Cain's P.O.V.
I was laying in Alexa's bed with her when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I took it out and read a text from Max. 'I need you to come down stairs.' 'Okay sir I will be down in a minute.' I looked down at Alexa. She was sleeping and had a slight smile on her face. I carefully got out of the bed making sure not to wake her, and walked to the door.
I looked back at her one more time before I opened the door and left. I figure she would be safe for a few minutes plus I will just be down stairs. When I got down the stairs I went to the living room. Max, Isabella, Eli's parents and Finn were sitting down just talking. When they noticed me they looked up.
Eli's mom introduced herself. "Hi Cain, my name is Penelope and this is my husband Julian." I nodded my head. Isabella spoke. "Penelope is a nurse and is here to look at your hip." Penelope got up. "Come with me." I followed her to a room down the hall.
It must be the guest room. "Okay if you could pull your shirt off and pull your pants down and lay on the bed." I did as I was told. I was laying on the bed watching her walk to the table next to the bed and put on some gloves.
She turned to me and pulled my boxers down just enough to see the full wound. She looked up at me. "Well if it wasn't for you being a lycan you would have died from blood loss." She grabbed some gauze and started to clean the blood off. After she got all of the dried blood off, she grabbed a needle and some thread. "Okay this might hurt, but try not to move."
I watched her as she stitched up the gash. It didn't really hurt. I was kind of used to getting stitches. I got them all the time. When she was done. She left the room. After a minute her and Isabella walked in with some clothes. "Okay, put this on and then come back to the living room."
When I was done getting dressed I walked to the living room and sat down in one of the chairs. Max spoke first. "I know we stopped one problem, but know we have a bigger one." He looked at me, I knew what he was talking about and continued. "Yes as I am sure y'all know I killed Mr. Reed, but his sister Katie a scientist and some more hunters are coming today."
Max spoke. "I have all the other pack members staying home today, to keep them safe." I spoke. "Now I know that they are going to go to my house in town first, but they will also send a team to the other house. They will be looking for Finn and I."
"They will probably think we left, but might keep a few hunters here to search the town." Finn stated. "I have been working with them for years. I was Mr. Reed's right hand man, and I know how Katie is about her brother and will not rest till Cain and Alexa are found."
I had an idea, but I know that Max will not like it. "Max, I think that Alexa and I should leave and try to get them to leave town. They have other lycans working for them and they will be tracking me knowing that she will be with me."
What Max said next I was not expecting. "You are right I can send you to a friend of mine he has a pack of his own. His pack is pretty small but they live in a bigger city. You should be safe there."
"Okay, but we need to leave as soon as possible." For the next hour Max was setting things up for us with his friend, Isabella was packing clothes for Alexa, Finn, and I. Julian and Penelope left after we decided we would be leaving. Max never told us or the others where we were going.
Finn said he wasn't going to leave me. I told him he could come plus I could use the help protecting Alexa. I was sitting on the couch with Alexa when Finn walked in. "It's time." I looked at Alexa.
"You ready?" She nodded her head. I got up then picked her up bridal style and carried her to the car. I put her in the back seat, Finn got in the driver's seat, I got in the passenger's seat. Max came to my window. "Keep her safe, Alpha Hale will meet you when you get there."
"I will, and thank you for everything. Make sure you protect yourself, and if anything happens call us, and we will come straight back." He nodded his head and left. Isabella didn't even come outside; she was so upset we were leaving, but she knows it is for the best. I just loved how much Alexa's pack cared for her.
Finn started the car and we were on our way. Alexa had fallen asleep almost as soon as we started the drive. I stayed awake for most of the ride, but at some point I fell asleep too.
