The tavern was filled with laughter, drunkenness, and slurred words. Behind the bar, a mountainous figure was chopping up vegetables. As he was finishing his chopping, two men stood up from their table. They suddenly grabbed each other's collars and began yelling rudely. 'SLAM' A large red hand smacked the bar silencing the entire tavern. Sudddenly, bolting forward a knife flew between the two men and stuck into their table. They both froze in horror, frantically checking their bodies for cuts.
"I will not have you cause a ruckus in my tavern." Boomed the giant red orc.
"Now, have another round. If you want to still fight take it out onto the street. That or I won't be so nice with my knife next time." The giant orc chuckled as he pulled his knife from the table and walked back to the kitchen.
"Yes sir, mister Orzog sir." Said the patrons of the Black Bone Mug. The merriment commenced once again, save for the one figure that sat alone at the bar. Who hasn't so much as flinched since they sat down to drink and eat alone. Orzog walked back in from the kitchen.
" So silent and quiet tonight. Did something happen today? " Orzog directed towards the figure alone at the bar. Finally, taking off their hood as long dark brown curly hair fell just past their shoulders. The woman looked up at Orzog and let out a slow breath.
"Why is it that any being with a crotch snake has to ask a lady what is wrong when she sits at a bar alone. Sometimes I want a quiet meal to myself." Clearly stating her grumpy attitude with a hilarious slur to her words. Orzog chuckled.
" Now, here I thought you were having a bad day Baylin. The great swordswoman of the continent, but my favorite customer and friend is just highly intoxicated. " Laughing and pouring another drink.
"Listen here Orzog...I told you to call me Yuna! Not the Baylin name, nor my title should define me. You got that you big red meany." Yuna answered while poking at Orzog's arm as he was pouring. He nodded and chuckled even harder. Yuna then laughed as well, she turned to look at the rest of the patrons in the room. Though Yuna was a half-elf she did not have pointed ears. In fact, the only non-human thing about her was her eyes. They were orange with a silver ring around her pupils. The eyes of the nearly extinct Baylin Clan. This was due to the purge of her father's clan. This came to pass when voted by the Elvin republic. Do to the Baylin clan being the only clan to openly accept and trade with humans. Only ten of them survived the purge and moved to human capital. This is where Yuna was born and raised. Her father became the first advisor to the general of the king's guard. This was due to his reputation as an elven warrior. She was raised well by a very wise father and a kind mother. A tap on Yuna's shoulder snapped her out of her thoughts of the past. She wiped around to see a pair of gentlemen standing in front of her. Slurring their words trying to flirt with her clearly looking idiotic. She turned her back to them and continued to drink her ale.
"Come on... pretty lady why don't you have a drink with us and have some fun. If your lucky we might invite you back to our place." said one of the men as he then began to reach toward her shoulder again. Before his hand reached her shoulder there was another woman who jumped in between and grabbed his wrist.
"Now, I would not try to touch her again unless you wish to lose that hand. Maybe even that dumb-looking head of yours." The young woman began to twist his wrist slowly. The man pulled back his hand as his buddy made him look closer and take the hint.
"Let's go, that is a she-devil. Not worth getting cursed or something." The second man stated. They brushed off their anger and wabbled back to their table. Orzog laughed loudly trying not to drop the ale he was pouring.
"So, there is the little she-devil. Was beginning to wonder why Yuna was drinking alone." He said still laughing.
"Your skin is a deeper red than my eyes you big goon. Not like a lady has to tell the whole tavern when she needs to relieve her bladder. Also Orz I don't call me she-devil, that nickname is so depressing." The young woman said snarkily.
"Millie your back I missed you so much. Don't just leave like that." Yuna stated happily and hugged her tightly.
"I left for several moments Yuna, clearly enough time for you to get even drunker. Stop squeezing me I can't breathe. Will you finish your ale we both need sleep for our quest tomorrow." Millie said annoyed by her adventuring partner and best friend. Then she grabbed Yuna by the arm and walked her back upstairs to there room to tuck her in. She waved goodnight to Orzog who laugh as they left to go upstairs. Yuna and Millie shared the upper level of the Tavern as their home. They have made enough to buy a new house by now, but they couldn't bring themselves to leave the comfort of this place. Orzog took them 5 years ago when they first became adventuring companions and they haven't felt the need to leave. Plus Orzog liked them and saved him from renting the rooms to strangers. Millie was happy regardless as long as she had Yuna. She was also a half breed only she was part demon. Millie, however, was raised as a slave until Yuna freed her from her oppressive owners. You see Millie was a demon half breed beautiful with beautiful black hair and deep red eyes. Of course, she also had the demon clan mark along the side of her face and neck. Also a slave mark on her arm that she got crossed out to resemble her freedom. Questing together got her the nickname she-devil, not just because she was a half-demon. Also, because her weapon of choice was a scythe and she was the fighting champ of the local coliseum three years in a row. Known to send her opponents to the afterlife like a beautiful young reaper. As night fell the two went to sleep. Ready to take up their latest contract in the morning.
