[00:32],[00:31],[00:30]...
The timer had nearly finished and I was ready to go. I had been trying to open my status menu so I could open my care package but to no avail. I sighed as the timer reached 15 seconds and then a smile brought itself to my face as I began to think of all of the possibilities that this brave new world had to offer.
Once the timer hit ten seconds an announcement rang out for everyone to hear.
'This is a polite warning, every being on this earth will grant drops and EXP. So please take that into account when hunting for pray. May the odds be ever in your favour, goodluck. And put on a good show!'
An alarm blared out and the fog was instantly lifted. The entire world began moving at once. Some people bolted off in different directions while some just stood there. I quickly ducked into a nearby convinience store and blocked the door with a shelf of protein snacks. I then looked around to see if anyone was inside, there wasn't. This confused me as it was the middle of the day and someone should be here but then I realised that they probably went outside once they heard the voice in the sky.
I quickly grabbed a camping rucksack off of one of the shelves and filled it with necessary products like dry food and high calorie snacks. I also grabbed a toolbelt, a hammer and a hatchet from the DIY aisle before remembering that I hadn't opened my status yet. I opened it and clicked on the weapon pack that I was gifted, a large blue box suddenly appeared in front of me floating around my waist. I touched it and it opened with a poof of blue smoke, once the smoke dissipated all that was teft was a short sword resting in my hands as if it had been there the entire time.
I looked at it in awe swinging it as I did, I was pleased with it. I then tapped it and said "Appraise" in a soft voice to test if it worked. I felt a jolt of energy pass through my hand and into the sword then a small blue window popped up with information about the sword.
[Nordic-steel Dagger - Uncommon - Forged by the Dwarves of the North in a furnace of Dragon Fire - ATK +200 - Durability : 60/60]
'So there are dwarves' I thought to myself as I dropped the hammer and replaced it with my dagger. I then took out the armour pack hoping for something just as good. Inside the box was a chest plate that made me frown as I appraised it.
[ Beginner's Chestplate - Common - the perfect piece of armour for a complete noob - DEF +50 - Durability : 30/30]
It had miserable stats compared to the dagger but the worst part was how it looked. It was a navy blue colour which wasn't so bad but it had big white letters on the front and back saying 'NOOB'.
I still put it on as I had no where to put it and I didn't want to just throw it away so I took a branded leather jacket off of a shelf and put it on over my new Chestplate. I then turned my attention to the front window as someone was banging on it and screaming.
I activated Stealth and walked towards the window, my whole body was kind of shimmering. The person at the window kept looking in to see if anyone was there as I walked closer, we were practically eye to eye and she couldn't see me. Suddenly I remembered that she was screaming so I went to the door and moved the shelves, she ran towards the door but kept my foot behind it.
She pushed at the door in confusion so I shouted above the noise from the street to her "if you try anything I won't hesitate to kill you, do you understand?" she nodded her head in a hurry before I opened the door and let her in. She ran straight past me and shouted to close the door, the door closed and then she looked at me weirdly. "How are you doing that?" she asked while staring at me intently. I realised I still had Stealth activated so I turned it off then put the shelf back in front of the door.
The woman suddenly crept up from behind me and waited for me to turn back around before embracing me in a warm hug while crying into my chest. I looked at her startled before gently patting her head, she stopped crying looked up at me and smiled while thanking me for letting her in. "No problem, but why were you screaming?" I asked while looking at her still clutching my chest. She let go and retreated half a pace before replying, "There was a group of delinquents out there, I saw you in the window and you looked calm and collected so I quickly ran over to see if you would help me." she looked down at her shoes when she spoke the last few words as if they made her embarrassed.
"Of course I'll help you." I said without thinking much. These delinquents were very good they had obviously adapted to this new world very quickly. I was impressed but they would still all die by my hand.
"You'll really help me? Thank you so much!" she exclaimed while jumping toward me to hug me once again, I hugged back this time as her chest felt quite nice against me. As we ended the embrace I realised that I recognised the girl from somewhere "Do I no you?" I asked her as I couldn't quite figure out where I've seen her face before. "Do you watch on twitch much, I'm spotlighted on there at least once a week. I have more than 800,000 subscribers."she boasted." Right you're GildedRose43 right? I watch your streams all the time when I'm not streaming myself" I tried to hint that I was also a streamer and she picked up right away. "You stream? What's your handle? I might have seen you before." she asked politely not really expecting much. " I go by WhisperingDeath393" I said knowing that she was about to have her mind blown. "Your kidding right? There is no way you're THE WhisperingDeath, the one with over 50 million subs? You're featured every day!" she exclaimed in admiration, completely flabbergasted by the events unfolding before her. Compared to him she was but a lowly bug who had landed on his windshield.
"You're not too bad yourself you're one of the best Light Mages in all of World of Farabia, I doubt anyone can match up to you in healing spells." I said to her as she looked up at me in surprise. I wasn't lying either she really was in the top 3% of players. I could tell why she was so shocked as I never showed my face on camera I said I would do it if I ever hit 100 million subs but it looked like that would never happen now.
"You're just saying that, I know I'm nothing when compared to you and your explosive damage output and stealth tactics. You've almost never been beaten in PvP!" I smiled modestly at her statement, it was true I had played over 600 battles in single player PvP and had only ever lost 4 times. It was a world record back in 2018 when I only lost 3 times.
As we were talking a group of thugs had gathered around the window without us noticing.
