We met in front of the guild building as it was planned I still didn't know if this was all truly happening for real. If I proved to be a two souled my greatest wish could be achieved and I could free my soul, fate and get revenge. However once again I felt great regret if I brought my friends into this battle they might have to experience what I had.
I guessed I would be the weak link if any thing happened to them what if I failed to save them like I had failed to save my mom. I don't know if I could do that and maintain my sanity. Would one of their deaths make me turn into a demon killing thoughtlessly, with no soul doing what ever that bastard desires. I should tell them that I didnt need them and make them stay so they would be safe it would be for the best.
The Creator came to me at that time and somehow knew my thought, he hugged me and for a short bit of time it felt like my moms hug. When I looked up she was really there hugging me, she smiled and then spoke to me. "Child you know I love you dearly, we were always together watching out for each other but now even though I am still near you need others to watch your back. Please allow your friends to do so, besides they won't change their minds I can see it in their eyes."
As my mom faded away I saw my friends each waiting by the carriage for me to come, none showed doubt, fear, hate or even the slightest distress. Even Cinder was smiling slightly as she fiddled with Castle's hair, and I thought she would surely hate me for putting her beloved into danger. So I honored their choice and got on the carriage for me I would stop looking back and get stronger.
We didn't notice but eyes were following us as the carriage was pulled from the town by the fastest horses, our fee for riding was to protect the guild mail till our stop five days and five towns away. Usually adventurers would be played for this duty but what the hell that crafty old man had got our services for free.
The first two towns were very eventless, no demon or beast attacks, no bandits or thiefs. Of coarse they were the closest to the core of city dweelers so that was normal. From this point on we would head towards the poorer and weaker guarded towns so Castle told us to enjoy the last of the cheaper hot meals and financed towns.
I had finished the first read throughs of my books and Windy showed me how to cast her most simple spells as we went along the road. On the way in I had finally cast a small stable fireball one most learned to explore dungeons. Strangely my arrows made a small ringing sound it sounded rather happy the bow glowed slightly as well. No one noticed though so we really didn't care.
After wandering around the bazaar in town I came upon a man with old broken and partial books. One caught my eye it was about legendary bows and dagger, kinda a fact or fiction book. It probably was for kids because a quick glance showed a lot of pictures. He was, glad to sell it for five silver and even throw in a partial book that looked mostly illegible to me.
I had forgot to say thanks but by the time I turned back around he was gone, probably to get some food I hoped. After all he was skin and bones and was wearing rags. As I approached the end of the bazaar off to the left was a old mostly blind grey haired lady. waved some gems in her hand. Interested I came to look at her display and was amazed by her assortment of dried herbs and grasses.
She had many of the one I needed to make my basic potions just the ones that Windy had pointed out to me. They would be able to increase my skills and make a higher grade potion. She asked what I would offer her for hwr goods, and I figured to give her the guilds price plus them silvers more.
She clapped her hands in glee and not only gave me what was displayed but also what was in her backpack as well. They need to be used soon or they will rot, however if used right now they are the most potent. In addition she said here is a gem for your bow I felt its thirst as you came over. You need to be more careful and let it feed or its core that is so weak will parish.
"What do I feed it? And how?", when I looked up she was already half way down the alley. I tryed to catch up but when I followed her to a turnway she was gone. What the heck? How were old people so fast? It started to feel real creepy all of a sudden so I quickly retraced my steps and returned to the inn. I was glad to see my companions were just getting seated to order dinner.
We ordered, then started to show off our new exciting various treasures that had been found in this town. Windy had found some family members and got some great herbs to work for mana boosting. In addition she borrowed the next level potion book from her family to help me learn the next higher level potions. She had taught me to create a journal for remembering my recipes, mistakes and accomplishments.
Castle had scored a new helm and got a few high level mana potions for, Cinder as well as some ribbons and bows. As normal Dingo grunted and showed a array of sharp daggers and a new clean thick leather smelly chest piece. His scales gleaned and his teeth also shined it was apparent that he had just had a fancy grooming.
Lastly, I told about my big scores on herbs and also about my strange book man encounter for some reason I didnt mention the old ladies last words about feeding the sword. They all said it was a bit creepy but at least she seemed to get what she needed.
