Following the battle, the navy of Constantine and Demetrios move quickly to Glarentza reaching the city by the end of the day. Constantine would look out towards the walls of Glarentza, and see a large army of men within the city, however he would begin to smile as he saw past them to see the army of Morea besieging it by land.
"Demetrios!" yells out Constantine
"It appears we have done it! Glarentza is blockaded by both land and sea, I have no doubt that they will eventually surrender to us!"
Demetrios smiles a bit before shouting back out
"Soon Constantine! Now we must be patient."
A few days would pass as the defenders in Glarentza would glare back at the Rhomaioi at sea and at land, their eyes looking defeated and many beginning to look malnourished as the blockade continued. No supplies would reach the fortress, no matter how many blockade runners would be sent, as all would be captured and the crew taken prisoner. Eventually, a ship would come towards the large Rhomaioi fleet bearing a white flag to symbolize peace. Constantine would look at the ship in confusion,
"This is unexpected, usually we have people trying to run past the blockade.."
"Demetrios! I'll send a ship to intercept them and confiscate their weapons!"
Demetrios would nod towards the young man and continues to keep his eyes towards the fortress incase of any attempts to break out by the defenders.
Constantine's men would capture the ship and then bring the ambassador to the man, in which he would inform him of a proposal by Carlo Tocco himself to Constantine himself.
"What is the proposal?" asked Constantine
The ambassador would pull out the piece of paper detailing what was in the offer made by the Despot, and then begin to speak
"Despot Carlo Tocco, first of his name, wishes to inform Constantine Palaiologos of an offer regarding the marriage between himself and the niece of the Despot, Maddalena Tocco."
Constantine hearing this would look surprised at the ambassador, and many of the men aboard his ship would begin laughing a bit.
"In the middle of war?" laughs out Constantine
"There is more." continues the ambassador
"Constantine Palaiologos is to receive all of the lands under Carlo Tocco's possession in the Peloponnesian domain as dowry if he is to accept this, concluding this conflict in peace."
Constantine would look even more shocked at this request, as this would grant almost all of Morea under the Palaiologos without another fight taking place and cement peace between the two families.
"I.... I don't know what to say..." Constantine would stutter out
"I don't see a reason as not to accept this... I would need to talk with my brother about this as well."
The ambassador then rolls up the paper once more, and continues to speak,
"If you could escort me to John Palaiologos, I would be happy to voice my lord's offer to him as well, we don't expect you to let up the siege, as things could always turn sour, though as a sign of good faith, I'd like to ask to allow for food to reach the people of Glarentza."
Constantine thinks for a moment, before respond back
"I'll need to talk with Demetrios about this proposal, but I don't see the harm in it."
Constantine would then signal out towards Demetrios to meet with him on his ship, and then beginning to inform him of what had occurred,
"Demetrios... I may be getting married... Carlo Tocco offered a deal that is impossible to refuse, we gain all of their domain in the Peloponnese in exchange for a marriage and peace."
Demetrios lets out a hard laugh before beginning to cough a little bit afterwards,
"That is a very good deal! Was anything else said?"
"Yes, they were requesting food for the citizens here." responds Constantine
"Ah, let the ambassador know, and the soldiers in Glarentza know that this peace is most likely going to occur, and that we will allow food to enter the city by land, but they will continue to be blockaded by sea until it's finalized."
Constantine would nod his head before informing the ambassador of what was said, and then would begin journeying back towards Mystras, traveling to Corinth before taking a horse down to the capital of Morea. Once entering the city, he would walk down the streets towards the imperial palace of Mystras, and he would also observe the ambassador's reaction to the grandeur of the city. The ambassador would make many comments on how it's greater than any city in Epirus and discuss it's beauty in depth. Soon, they would both make it to Mystras, where Constantine would find his brothers waiting for him.
"John, Theodore, Thomas! Nice to meet all of you!" yells out Constantine as he finds them in the hall idling
Demetrios, Constantine's brother, would sneer at Constantine before commenting
"Let me guess, you failed and lost the fleet, and you're back here running from the battle without an army. This is why I told all of you that I should be leading the army of Morea!"
Constantine would ignore Demetrios' words, and move to his brother John before saying,
"Demetrios and I have defeated the fleet of Carlo Tocco off the coast of the Echinades, it was a astounding success and we managed to capture many ships in the process along with many of their men. Also, this man here beside me is an ambassador from Carlo Tocco himself with an offer."
Constantine would speak these words while smirking at Demetrios, while allowing the ambassador to present the proposal to the emperor. Demetrios, enraged, would throw up his chair and make his way up the stairs of the imperial palace before slamming the door to his chambers shut. John, Theodore, and Thomas would listen to the ambassador's words in amazement at the grand opportunity for the family to grow as a result of the victory by the Rhomaioi navy and army. John would look at the man before drinking a cup of wine before speaking,
"Constantine, do you accept this proposal?"
"Yes, I do." quickly replied Constantine
"Then it is settled! I'm happy to accept this proposal by your Despot, inform him that I would love to celebrate the marriage next year in July preferably, he will be sent an envoy for when, however it's already near winter and not the proper time to celebrate! I'd expect the soldiers of Epirus to be out by the beginning of Spring as well, completely out of the city, so we may begin placing a Rhomaioi garrison there." joyfully says John
The ambassador bows to the emperor before agreeing to write down the words of the emperor and reporting back to the Despot. In which a ship would be prepared full of a few gifts along with a guard to protect the ambassador on his way back home.
John would look at Constantine, smiling wide and say,
"Constantine."
"Yes brother?"
"You have exceeded all that I could have expected with me sending you here, and now Rhomaioi control over the territory of the Peloponnese is almost complete, only a few more areas to bring under our control. While we are here, I would like to make an announcement to all, it has come to an agreement that Theodore will be giving up Despot of Morea to you, making you the sole Despot of the region, and now your brother Thomas will rule as Co-despot under you, in your absence in Mystras, he will command, we will celebrate this around the same time as your marriage my brother, I'm proud of you!" says John to Constantine
Constantine and his brother would hug before he would move to his other brothers to also hug them as well as a result of this new position
"I am for sure that life at the monastery is for me Constantine, the land is yours to rule, I have no doubt you'll make all of us proud, now, I need to get ready, all of us will be leaving back towards Constantinople except Thomas here, but best of luck to you brother."
The brothers would spend the night dining, drinking, and joking around, before John, Theodore, and Demetrios would make their way back to Constantinople. Constantine would look to his brother and inform him of his intentions
"Thomas, I'm happy that you're here with me and will be ruling alongside me, together we will unite the Peloponnese, together we will save our empire, I'm sure of it." says Constantine while putting a hand on his younger brother's shoulder
"I will be returning back West to inform them of what has come to play, I would like you to govern here while I'm gone, look around the city, enjoy yourself, ride around the territories too and get a feel for the land, I don't believe I'll be gone for too long, however always be prepared for such."
Constantine would then begin packing his horse for the journey back to Corinth to sail back to Glarentza alongside his bodyguards, and within a day, he would set sail on the sea once more. Constantine, thinking to himself would go
'This, this here is the first step, the first step towards restoring our empire, we won't stop at here, I won't stop at here. First Epirus, and next, the Achaians. They will submit to Rhomaioi rule.'
