Synopsis

Poems and World Building

BACKGROUND:

Dragon Knights and later Dragonkin Warriors were Dragons and half dragons who lived in Eyrien many hundreds of years ago. Dragons could take a human form and could exist freely in human society, though much of their power came from Tracha'ar, the heart of their homeland. It grew weak and in response they mated with humanity to produce the dragonkin who no longer were bound in life to the Tracha'ar.

God of the sun and the sands, Laresh. A human who gained immense power and immortality through a Djinn.

POEMS:

[ The Three Wishes ]

Oh djinn!

First I wish to hear the whispers of the sand,

To know the dunes' most vile secrets hidden deep and dark.

Oh djinn!

Next I wish to hold the power of the sun,

To feel the light and fire running through my bones and veins.

Oh djinn!

Last I wish to give to you that which you desire most.

For all good things that are alive,

deserve to live in any tiny way.

[ The unknown fourth and fifth wishes ]

Oh djinn!

To a girl who rages deep inside,

I wish to grant a body of war,

A mind that always knows a way,

And the art of every weapon to a perfection never seen.

Oh djinn!

To the boy who wishes only peace,

I wish to grant the power of the goddesses,

He who shall inherit the sword of light,

And use it only to give away his life.

Sweet stream as you swish,

Flowing through the woods,

Calm my heart and rest my love,

Quiet stream as you wish,

Flowing through the woods,

Calm my mind and rest my soul,

Sweet stream full of riches,

Flowing amidst the rocks,

Grant me a stone for my love,

Quiet stream full of speeches,

Flowing amidst the rocks,

Grant me words from my soul,

All to give my love what she desires.

On the road which we walk,

A strong wind blows behind,

Pushing us towards our goal,

Follow the wind my friends,

The Goddesses know our path,

Our home within reach,

Over the Oceans,

Through the Forests,

Across the Rivers,

follow the wind my friends,

The Goddesses know our path,

Our home within reach,

Over the Deserts,

Through the Valleys,

Across the Mountains,

Follow the wind my friends,

The Goddesses know our path,

our home within reach.

Ancient Gaia of the woods,

Heed to me here this call of mine,

Reveal to me, if you please,

The ancient gate to the hidden realm.

Ancient Gaia of the woods,

Heed to me here this call of mine,

Open for me, if you please,

The gate of stone to the realm beyond.

Ancient Gaia in the woods,

Heed to me here this call of mine,

One so fair, I knew before,

Grown in dark before the light,

Release your fear and let me near,

As I was before the fall.

[ Prayer of the Eternal Hunt ]

The Hunter walked through the woods,

"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,"

His quiver bouncing ryhtmically against his hip,

"I will fear no evil,"

He moved without noise along the ground,

"For even in the dark is there light,"

His breath was calm and slow,

"And where there is light there is hope,"

He knocked an arrow to his bow,

"And in hope there is strength,"

In one swift motion he drew and released the arrow,

"And in strength resides Tumuolathlamo, the God of the hunt,"

The arrow burried itself in the heart of his prey,

"Grant your kills to him,"

The Hunter knelt by his prey in silence,

"For only in him do you succeed,"

From his lips came only air,

"And through him shall we hunt eternally in Thlu Taolumelo."

[ Prayer of the Abyss of Eternity ]

A knight strode forward,

"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,"

His armor clanking against itself,

"I will fear no evil,"

He took a deep breath,

"For without dark there is no light,"

He calmed his mind,

"And without light there is no dark,"

His sword sung as he drew it from it's sheath,

"And in the dark resides Tumuolathlamo, the God of the Night,"

He held his sword down in front of his head, his eyes closed,

"In him are we given strength unending,"

The knight charged into combat for the last time.

"And through him shall we feast in Thlu Tilame'e forevermore."

[ Prayer of the Church of the Sun ]

The priest stood before the house,

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,"

He knelt in silence

"I will fear no evil,"

When he rose he stretched his hands towards the building,

"For I am truth,"

From his lips he spoke a tongue forgotten,

"My soul burns with the sun,"

And from the house streamed shadows

"From me streams light,"

Light streamed from his body and burned away the shadows,

"And in that light resides Tumuolathlamo, our God of the Sun,"

He slumped,

"In him we find our hope,"

His final breath leaving him.

"And through faith we join him in Thlu Soramo."

[ Prayer of the Endless Void ]

The assassin looked through the window,

"Though you walk through the shadow of the valley of death,"

His target lay motionless,

"You should fear only me,"

He slipped into the house and stood over the bed,

"For I am Death,"

His knife glinting in the moonlight

"And in the Shadows do I dwell,"

It slid effortlessly between the man's ribs,

"Your heart is my sheath,"

And his heart was stopped,

"And you soul my payment,"

The assassin withdrew a coin and laid it on the man's head,

"In life resides Tumuolathlamo, our God of Death,"

Then looked out the window,

"In him we protect,"

The moon was full,

"And in him we kill,"

Perhaps he would save someone tonight,

"In the end we fade to Mouthtomoge, realm of the dead."

Quotes::

"For without Darkness there is no light, and without light there is no darkness" - Eclipse, speaking of the Void, source of all things dark and grim.

"Imagine you are zooming out of the universe. See now the solar system? Farther, see now the Galaxy? Farther, and farther still till you see the galaxies like stars. Now farther till you realize no galaxies are left to pass... You are at the edge. Now turn slowly and see what remains. See the empty darkness, breathe nothing, hear nothing, feel nothing hit your skin. There is no energy nor matter here. Only nothingness. Feel your mind cry for help in the nothingness, but hear no sound. You hear only those sounds that your body produces itself.

That is but a glimpse of true fear" - Eclipse speaking on the Abyss of Eternity which is contained within his soul.
