The prologue may be a bit long, but I wanted to provide proper insight to the readers instead of just jumping right in.

Panic spread in a remote research facility. A large asteroid had been confirmed to be heading towards Earth at an incredible speed. The estimated impact on collision would destroy not only Earth but even the neighbouring planets.
The news was not broadcasted to the public and remained confined within only the finest laboratories of the world as the chances of the asteroid colliding were slim and even if the collision were to happen, it would be inevitable.
As time went by, the asteroid kept approaching and barely grazed past Earth not causing any major damage.
All who knew about the asteroid rejoiced and thanked God for their lucky escape. Parties were held and everyone was merry except for one person.
Strauf Wailomer had an extraordinary mind and was a brilliant young scientist, for days he had been trying to find the asteroid's trajectory. He feared that there may be a chance if this calamity repeating itself in the future. He had finally succeeded but the numbers he got were devastating. After checking and rechecking his calculations for a whole day he at last had to give in to the bitter truth.
From the calculations, Wailomer was able to conclude that the asteroid would pass earth again in 30 years with an even greater speed and a collision with Earth was guaranteed.

As soon as Wailomer's calculations became known to the world, panic spread. The world had just been saved from a disaster only to know that the worse was still left.
After about a month of careful planning, a committee was formed to find a way to save humanity.
After 3 years, the first hope was found. A space exploration probe had found a planet, VES-19, with habitable conditions. Except for the flora and fauna, it was pretty similar to earth. It had greenery, water and different biomes almost as if it was Earth's twin.
Today, an unmanned spacecraft was sent to bring some samples of the planets soil and water.

The spacecraft returned with the samples and footage of the planet after almost 7 years.
Strange enough, the soil and water composition was almost exactly like that of Earth. While this was great news, the craft also brought back a sword. The sword was in a scabbard and no matter how much we tried it wouldn't come out. The craft so brought with it a number of pages, enough to make a book.

Archaeologists and translators worked day and night to decrypt the pages, and they were finally able to make some sense out of it.
The pages were apparently a part of a book, they were entries of a kind of creature which they referred to as Manwol. These Manwols were like viruses, neither living nor dead but had the ability to infect and control others. Once affected by the Manwol, the being was certain to die within 6 hours.
The translated text also had a listing of the requirements that needed to be fulfilled for a Manwol to control its target:
1) The target must have basic intelligence of reasoning and logic. A being with an underdeveloped mind such as a cat or a dog would not be affected.
2) The targets cells must come into direct contact with the Manwol or the target must stay within a 10 meter radius for at least 30 minutes.
The pages also had the details of a counter-weapon against the Manwols. The weapon presumed to be a sword was described as a Drive made from Chrysalis.
Even on VES-19, Chrysalis was an extremely rare substance. An account was given where it showed that after mining chrysalis for 10 years they were only able to make 4 Imperial Drives.
To adapt to the shortage of materials, they started making drives with less percentages of Chrysalis, these though not as powerful as the Imperial Drives, were strong enough to fight against most Manwols.
Everyone was devastated on seeing the translation of the pages and the search for an alternate solution immediately began.
