Shao Ying was really unlucky with her family.
To a patriarchal family, boys were always the main priority, boys were always the best. Being born a girl to such a family was nothing short of bad news.
Her parents thought that only boys could do amazing things once they grew old or provide for them so they were stupidly partial to her waste of a brother.
