Dry laughter came out of her lips.

Even she didn't know why was she prolonging her agony when she could just ask directly and then go to where she should go. What was with this mentality? Cowardice? A natural response to things, or truth, that makes people afraid?

"Naturally, not all people are given the chance to be assessed. They have to be very lucky. They must first catch the attention of some very special and revered entities who would give a recommendation for them. It is a system that has been working since time immemorial. You'll never know if the heroes and fantastic people in your history are just lucky reincarnated people or people sent back in time."

Thankfully, the guide was a goodnatured one, so it entertained her question. Or perhaps, his nonchalance was because no matter what they said and did in this compact space, it would all be forgotten by the other party.
