"Chad" my ass. He's leftover junk from the losers of a race war who got lucky that the winners of said war became complacent and lost ground. He's now just a salty X-Box twelve year old yelling racial slurs into his mic with cheats enabled.

But yeah, if she tries to seduce the SI and Leon tries to help her it is all but guaranteed that she'll fall for Leon.
Why this is being floated as a possibility I'm really not sure. Both Leon and Marie went to Cheat Island to arm up in case they need to SHOOT the SI. XD

They just see Nathan as some new last DLC boss. After all, otome games/novels are full of villains who share Nathan's traits.

Threadmarks: Chapter 6
< Silver W. KingKing of Adventures New "So that takes care of the Sky Pirates issue in our region." I said eyeing the map of my island and surrounding territory. I was currently in a meeting with my commanders to discuss how to govern the territory going forward, and how to shape our economy and industry. "True. In that they all ran away the second we settle here, rather than even try to prod our defenses." Aldrin Fou Rockborn said. He was the oldest of my Commanders, leading the Flame Wing#1 battalion. Spoiler: Aldrin Fou Rockborn He was an old man, that looked wizened and hardened by age and trial. Even had the white hair to prove it, even if he insisted I'm blind, it's just light blond. I couldn't see it. When he was young, he lost all his children to the Forest of Ladies before realizing their scheme. His answer...was to volunteer for the Holfort army, simply wanting to pay with his life for not acting sooner. Aldrin was lucky or simply too good at his job to just die, till we eventually met and his council was something I appreciated ever since. "Our reputation is a bit too fierce. While it aids us in frightening away enemies, it also frightens away potential allies." Elliot Fia Bismark spoke. The blond man with a piercing stare was second Commander, leading the Flame Wing#2 battalion. "Security isn't really our issue, but rather trade. We still have landed on a concrete path to which industry we'll cultivate here. Any of the technology improved or created due to the Chief's Red Spiral Power are right out. Long range communication devices are something we can never export no matter the commercial value. Let's not even get started on selling other nobles our improved weapons." Spoiler: Elliot Fia Bismark Elliot was, to put it simply...a paranoid man. He says that security wasn't something to worry about, and in the same breath mentions that things he's worried might compromise Aeaea's security. I mean, it was helpful during the war. Heck, he outright sought me out, saying the Holfort military were planning an assassination attempt on me, due to my power proving too strong in it's growth, and while I didn't see a difference in how the Holfort army was treating me, since I never trusted them anyways when out on missions, it was because of him that I avoided a few death traps, and survived long enough to be as powerful as I am now. His mentality was immensely helpful in war, although he tended to be too cautious wanting to stack the deck in his favor as much as possible, I at least like that he threw everything at the enemy, once he felt he was prepared enough. There is something disturbing, yet beautiful on how overkill he tends to go on a threat. The problem is...now we're in peace. "No one was saying we would do that, Elliot." Aldrin said with a sigh. "Good. As for trade, we could simply create clothes or other merchandise that require textile, we have the machinery, or could just make it. But I don't think anyone will trade with us. Hmm, maybe if we give the former families, not connected to us, that had the Forest of Ladies nesting in them, an offer they can't refuse, we can start a trade." Elliot just carried on talking on his own. "Families that had the Forest in their midst, were their most affected victims. Treating them like enemies we must coerce isn't how we should interact with potential trade partner, i.e. peers." I pointed out. "But we don't know what connections they may hold to the remnants of the Forest. If they still exist or are active. I would estimate they would return to operation in five years, unlike the King and Queen, or rather just the Queen actively disincentivize the behavior. If she uses financial punishment, that would the army lose many volunteers, as soldiers that action care about their family would die leaving them nothing. But if she does nothing, hmmm, soon a lot of border noble heirs are likely to have their position questioned, if they truly carry their family name's blood. This will destabilize the outer regions. "The border lands will be defenseless in the middle of mass inheritance crises--that's it!" His eyes widened in a eureka moment. "We can as border patrol while the outer nobles have their blood feuds. The slave trade is gonna take a massive hit, but we can just sell our service as guardsmen to their territory, while they are having their succession crisis." Then he looked concerned as he cupped his chin. "But that could be seen as an invasive action by us. Not only that was it would have to be done on a large scale, as border nobles will be very aversive to marriage going forward--" "Elliot, Elliot! Breathe." I told him. I was used to hearing him speak out loud so I could follow his logic somewhat. "Look, those problems are..." Is it far off or not? "In the future. We need to focus on the now, we have to start producing things and making money so we can feed ourselves. How's fertilizing the land going?" "Not good enough." Aldrin said with a heavy tone. "Mechanical improvement, or even advancements due to Red Spiral Power are helpful in the field they are used in." Elliot leaned back into his chair, calm now due to the new topic. "The Red Spiral Power Generator is effective in powering up knight armor and other machinery, but they face more stress and break down much faster. As for anything organic, it had horrible results in growing crops. Yes, we are able to harvest in a ten of the time normally, sometimes even in two to three weeks but only 15% of the harvest is good, if we're lucky. Usually the fruits come out withered already." The Red Spiral Power Generator, was just a simple engine that I applied my power to slowly, over a long period of time, till it could generator it's own Red Spiral Power, but it wasn't one that could run forever. I had to recharge it every few months to a year or so. And the output wasn't something to drain without care. If the energy used is more than what's generated, the Generator will just die out like a normal one, and quickly. "Don't use the red energy for direct use with anything organic. Make items or equipment's to help indirectly with farming." I said. Thinking for a moment on how hazardous my power is outside of battle, I came to another decision. "Increase the safety threshold, so let of the energy is used, and at a lower rate. We're not at war anymore, gentlemen. We don't need to keep running everything at high capacity, as if anticipating a fight." "But then our security risk will increase. All men need to have their knight armors ready for battle on full. What if a surprise attack were to occur? Or some enemy sabotage? Or an accident that required us to evacuate the island?" Elliot spoke out. "While not to the same degree was Elliot said, I do advice caution, as we still need to know who our enemies and who our allies are in the coming days, based on how the surrounding nobles interact with us." Said Aldrin. "If they interact with us at all. Wonder what they could be scheming in silence? Could they be trying to cut us off from any support, so we would beg for help?" Elliot thought out loud again. Discussion kept going round and round on what opponent to potentially prepare for, but never on how to cultivate the territory, or what to do to actually have an amicable relation with other nobles. "Or maybe we should acknowledge the obvious fact that's you've been all trying to ignore." My last Commander, who had been silent till now--uncharacteristic of her--finally spoke. "Nathan," she looked at me dead in the eyes. "We can't help you run a territory." Elliot and Aldrin flinched or looked away in shame, holding an annoyed look on their faces, that their comrade was right. "Looks at us, we know how to take punches," she gestured Aldrin, "how to look for things to punch," this time Elliot, "or how to go out and punch things." Donna von Fitzburg said, pointing at herself with a smirk. The commander of the Flame Wing#3. My regiment as a whole ended up having the name Blazing Wings. It was a name that emerged from Ignis's fiery trail that he left behind, as I lead my people into battle. The name was joked about till it just stuck around. Spoiler: Donna von Fitzburg Donna was...complicated. For one she had golden eyes, which was a trait considered universally identified with Selikans. Which she was. Donna was a former Selika noble who lost people to the Selika military and it's practices of human sacrifice for their ritual spells. So she became a Sky Pirate that raided Selika military ships. We met when she stole Ignis to break into a POW camp, to save her crew. Sadly most of them were tortured or killed to gather energy for ritual spells. From there, Donna...enthusiastically joined my side. Honestly, the fact that after the final battle, her reaction was to find me, French kiss me and tell me she was gonna make me a man, was a bit worrying with how...wide her smile, or how dilated her pupils were. Thankfully she was drunk and fell asleep, and thus far didn't seem to remember that promise. I swore everyone that saw that scene to secrecy obviously. It's not like I dislike Donna but I didn't want her to feel guilty or ashamed of what she did while drunk. ...Okay, no. It's because I wanted to put off the conversation about that till I had nothing else on my plate to focus on. Such as now. No, I still have to fix this problem of managing my lands. Then afterwards we'll see. "Look, Nathan, you can have Aldrin here work on policing and protecting the interior of the territory. Elliot can be our spymaster or what not, crazy fucker will love getting into people's panty drawers." Donna pointed out. "Rude, but I'll accept the intent." Elliot muttered. "And I can take my crew and act as patrol. There are probably still some sky pirates out there, hiding in some caves on floating rocks. I can weed those out." Donna finished explaining. "There. Those are stuff we can do and excel at. But everything else? Managing the land, trade, what industry to build around? You're gonna need civilians for that. All of us are too hard-wired to fight. You need to see the other side we don't usually consider." She turned to her fellow Commanders. "We need to step back and let other people in. People who actually know how to grow things, and not just make them go boom." She looked again at me. "And you need to learn that so we don't get swindled, and then if we retaliate we end up looking like the bad guys." "Then maybe we have solution for that." Carl Fou Hearthstone, my Assistant Commander, effectively second-in-command, spoke. Spoiler: Carl Fou Hearthstone He placed several letters and property deeds in front of us. "Queen Mylene it seemed has been hard at work, seizing the properties of the Forest of Ladies' and giving them to the still living husbands, or their husband side of the family, before the Forest's families took those up." He smile. "Everyone on our side, including me, are going to sell our capital properties. We have no need for those houses, Aeaea is now our home with you, Chief. The money can be used to buy needed resources and equipment till we become self-sufficient." "Carl, no! I can't ask that of you guys." I immediately said. "You're not. It's something we're freely giving." He said back, firmly standing his ground. "We can't convey our gratitude to you enough, Nathan. So let me and the others help, in what small ways we can." I was struck silent like that, as I looked at the list of people planning to sell their capital houses, to help me. No, help our new home. It...doesn't really click for a while. We're outside of war and that grey world of ash and death. That here is home, away from war, and they want to help me protect it. That I...don't actually have to do this alone. "Come on Nathan, they wanna give you their money, let them." Donna chuckled. I found myself smiling at her words. "There's also something else the queen sent you." Carl gave me a letter with pleased looked on his face. I raised an eyebrow as I took and read it. Then my eyebrows rose higher as I blinked a few times at what I read. "Huh," I finally spoke. "Didn't think the queen was the passive-aggressive type, but I guess people need to unwind and joke in their own way." I said putting the letter aside. "What does it say?" Elliot asked. "Eh, it's nothing really." I waved him off, planning to show him the letter later. "She's saying that, since the Chief technically didn't go to the academy to finish his education, she's asking him to go so he would learn how to manage his territory." Carl said with an amused smile. "Yes, yes, very funny. Now, back to what we were talking about--" "You should go." Donna said with a grin. "I agree," Aldrin crossed his arms and nodded. "The academy isn't just a place to learn how to manage territory, but also a place to forge future alliances, learn history, and the current power structures, and new ones being formed." A look of mischievous then twinkled in the old man's eyes. "Also, it would help you find a wife." "And you do desperately need to get laid, Chief." Donna said with a matching look. "Really? Really?" I looked at them exasperated at that joke. "If it's you, I'm sure you'll find one that's actually a decent human being. And unlike most nobility, you don't need to worry about differences in rank. The power you hold makes that meaningless." Aldrin commented. "Also I wanna see how many try their normal haughty shtick, and end up getting, what did you call it? Ah, right, 'bitchslapped'." Donna laughed. My face reddened, is she ever gonna forget that incident. "Okay, let's be serious now. Elliot?" I turned to the only person I know, who's too serious to make jokes. "If we make our communication devices small enough, with a stealth cloak, along with making them mobile and plant them all over the academy, then we can know insider information to almost all the noble children in the country. Plant those spy drone on to those children for when they go home to visit their parents, and we would have an ear to every household in the kingdom!" Elliot said out loud, his head in his own world. Damn. I think Donna's suggestion about making Elliot a spymaster, might have been a bad idea. I mean, what if he goes overboard and have spies that marry into noble houses he doesn't trust. "Look, I'm too old. It would look weird." Damn, that sounded weak. Still, the academy? Why? I don't see the point. "Nathan," Aldrin spoke. "More than the points I've mentioned, there is another reason for you to go to the academy, it is something Donna had said." He nodded toward his fellow Commander. "We are too battle-wired. Too old and too entrenched in our nature." "Rude. I'm still young." Elliot cut in. "You however can still grow more, be more. You need to learn to live outside of war, and you need people who know peace to learn that." Aldrin continued. "We can protect things here, and we have our communication should anything comes up, or just to talk." "And if anything major happens, we have our Baby here for me to take care of business." Donna grinned. "Stop calling Ignis, 'Baby'." I shook my head. Seriously, she rode the thing once, and now she treats it like some lost lover at times. "Chief," Carl spoke, bringing my attention to him again. "If that place proved wasteful, you can just leave. I mean, yeah they can try and slander you, but who gives a shit. We can just say, their standards are so slow we didn't deem it worthy of our time. That's noble's politic games, right?" He smiled and shrugged his shoulders. Going to school, strictly to learn. That's a bizarre concept. An oxymoron really. "You know what, sure." Then I looked up at Carl and smiled. He shuddered, suddenly feeling something was off. "But you're coming with me." One Month Later The Holfort Academy was...too fancy. There was too wide and too empty. "Man, this place is wasteful." Jake echoed my thoughts. Also yes, Jake came along. He heard about me going to the academy and 'wanted to join the fun'. Seriously, do they just have too much free time now? I had to put my foot down when others wanted to join in too. Those too old were told to stay Aeaea and just continue on as before. Those too young, we're going to prepare--with money and information they need to know about the academy--for when they end up receiving letters to enter the academy's general classes. Jake was only a year older than the first years so it should be fine for him to come along. "Also the people around are shit." Jake said when he saw noble girls with servants, or guy treating their manservants harshly. "Do mind your manner, Captain. Your actions reflect on the Chief Commander." Carl said. "Right. Sorry, sir." Jake said right away. "Both of you stop with field titles. We're not in enemy territory." I told them, then I heard excited girl screams as the Prince and his entourage entered the academy gates. "Mostly." Prince Julius looked at me and my men and scolded. Nobles around us gave a wide bert as he and his guys headed toward us. I could see Angelica Rapha Redgrave and her group immediately try to intercept Julius and advice him to head to the auditorium for orientation rather than confront me. She was having limited success. "Nathanel Fou Lamanton." He said venomously. "So you decided to show your villainous face here, in our sacred academy after all." My attention however was on someone else. Two other specific people that I wanted to find once I reached the academy. How fortunate for me. "Prince Julius, good day." I at least nodded him in acknowledgement, as I made my way to my targets. Jake and Carl naturally followed me without engaging the Prince or his friends. "Hey, Julius was talking to you, you mons--OFF!" Greg Fou Seberg tried to stand in front of me, and grab my collar. I wasn't interested to talking to him, so I just kept walking. Apparently I wasn't aware of my own natural strength against civilian, as I ended up knocking him away by just walking into him. He then got dragged on the ground as he held onto me, before Carl kindly unclenched his fingers from my jacket. Jake found the whole thing hilarious. "Leon Fou Bartfort," I said clearly once I was in front of him. "Eeek!? I, I mean, yeah?" Leon looked freaked out by me talking to him. Fair, I guess. I bowed my head a bit and closed my eyes. "I am sorry." I said to him before standing straight, and looking at him and the surprised Marie Fou Lafan. "I did you a disserve that day of the ceremony. I put you on the spot with asking you to testify, and then showed you a gruesome scene. For that I apologize." "Whaaat!?" "Is this really happening?" "No way?" "Lafan's lackey somehow important?" More than Leon, the people around us had a more animated reaction. "I, um, I can't really understand--Ooof!" When Leon spoke stumbling, Marie elbowed him in the side, so he would focus. "I mean, I accept your apology." He looked like he wanted to say more, but held back, putting an effort into smiling amicably. "Thank you, and you are Marie Fou Lafan, correct?" I turned to the other person. "Heh!? I, I mean...yes, my lord?" She suddenly switched from being serious and making sure Leon didn't look like fool in public, to playing the shy girl. Weird. "First, congratulations on being a successful adventurer and your promotion. Second, I would like to speak to you and Leon here in private, if you don't mind?" I said getting into the heart of the matter. "Eh, right now?" Marie looked surprised. "Yes, I assure you this discussion won't take long, and we'll make it in time for orientation." I told them and walked away, the two following if only because Carl and Jake were around. Sorry if it seems like I'm bullying or coercing you two, but I need to clear up a few things quick before anything. "Carl, can you please go to this place and get us some food and drinks to my room? The stuff there are pretty good and not too expensive." I gave him a paper with instructions to go find the Scholarship Student, Olivia and bring her to the free room next to my own. Thankfully, we weren't bothered on the way there, Angelica having stopped the prince and his group from following us or doing anything. Although it looked like she got into an argument with Julius over it. Sorry, Angelica. Ganbatte, Angelica. I'll try and pay you back for your unknown help. "Jake, stand guard. Don't let anyone through till we're out." "What do you mean 'stand guard'? Aaah!" Leon asked before letting out a small shout in fear as I closed and locked the door, before getting out a metal box that shot out waves of energy, that covered the walls in a red aura layer to block sound, and act as a mini-barrier that should be difficult for a normal person to break by force. "W-What the! What's going on? What are you doing?" Marie shrieked. "It seems to be a field to negate sound from leaving, and to act as a physical barrier. The energy though is unlike anything I've seen New Humans use. Fascinating." The AI sphere appeared next to Marie's head. "Oh, you even have Luxion with you. Good, this makes things easier." I said as I sat in one of the chair with a coffee table between me and the two. "Wait, 'Luxion'? How do you know that name?" Leon said in surprise. "Hmm, to explain clearly, umm..." I paused for a second. "Hello. Good Morning. My name is Nathanel Fou Lamanton, and I'm sorry I don't know Japanese beyond what I just said." I said in Japanese for the two reincarnators. "Aaaand yeah. It's exactly as I said it. That is the only functional sentence I can say in Japanese." "What!? Y-You!" Leon said with wide eyes. "W-Wait, are telling me the terrifying DLC character is actually...!" Marie pointed at me with a shocked look. "Basically," I leaned back into my chair, steepled my fingers and smiled. "How do you do, fellow reincarnators?" === AN: I now have pictures for Nathan. Spoiler: Nathanel Fou Lamanton Can't find ones with red eyes, but I like the design of those. << Index 7 minutes agoReport Like+ QuoteReply VATSTeen and Twilight666 like this. < Prev1←202122232425 Threadmarks Extras Reader Mode Users Who Are Viewing This Thread (Users: 88, Guests: 0) Gusfes insertname099 Khatam Drag9082 Zirilan HypoSoc BasketSlayer LuxEterna RageMage cycoteddyy auraofcalm NightRogue U.N.Spacy000 Linarka Andile Belial17k jibaky Regret789 RThomas HermitInABarrel Vanityedge RoyalBastard knyght caffeine Hikori Takeo Ellessar Mechatrill ItsMeParker Naddakka741 oguh Rodon Pal
