Chapter 98
I Came Back And Conquered It All
Burglary
I continued to follow the direction that the devil's sword led me to.
I also took care of the monsters that attempted to block my path.
"Kaaaaaaaaah!"
Piercing the Orc's throat, I asked the devil's sword.
"What, come to think of it, aren't you drinking their blood?"
In my previous life, Randy regularly fed the devil's sword with monster blood.
He also often held it in his hands.
Those two conditions kept the sealed cognition awake and maintained the special ability of the devil's sword.
'I don't need it yet. I had some mediocre taste of human blood last time, which caused me to lose my appetite.'
It was uncommon to be fed with human blood when Randy carried it around, or as I was carrying it around at that moment.
"If you say so. How about the directions?"
'Keep going in this direction.'
After passing through a ruined, ownerless city full of monsters, a thick forest came into view.
"Ah, there it is."
The devil's sword grumbled.
'… Damn it. The energy is getting stronger.'
"It means we came to the right place."
I crossed the boundary of the forest with the sword in my hand.
I penetrated the dense forests made of woods that didn't exist on Earth and proceeded as the sword guided.
Walking while using my clairvoyance as far as I could, I noticed that something had quickly changed.
"Those who were rushing in had completely disappeared."
It was completely different from the trend of them rushing one by one every time I took a step.
None showed themselves, and there was no 'living monster' within the range of clairvoyance that was yet to be seen.
"Do they not even dare enter this forest?"
'It seems like the area around here has already progressed into a sacred land. Most of them won't be able to step a foot in. They're overwhelmed by the aura.'
Was it that bad?
Unable to detect the thing called the sacred energy that the devil's sword was feeling, I could only nod.
The forest, which had no life energy, gave a different feeling from the ruins outside where the original inhabitants disappeared, and only monsters roamed.
It had a rustic feeling of a different level.
There wasn't even a trace of small creatures that made up the dungeon's ecosystem.
"I'm beginning to see them one by one."
What stood out was the monster carcass left on the ground.
It was a Flying Lizard, a monster with a special ability to disguise itself according to its surroundings.
The devil's sword spoke as if it found it strange.
'What, why is that thing dead in the woods? They don't live in places like this.'
The forest, which was complicatedly intertwined with trees, was an environment in which it was inconvenient to fly freely and hunt. Therefore, it preferred open fields over forests, and instead of nesting in trees, it lived by digging a hole in the ground.
A species that couldn't walk in on its own was found in such a dense forest.
If it didn't come in on its own will, there was only one answer.
"They hunted and killed them at the ruins outside, and the guys who hunted and occupied this place dragged their bodies here to dispose of them."
'Why do you have to…?'
But the devil's sword soon understood what I meant.
'Oh, for that reason. It must have to do with the thing that gives off bad energy from deep down there.'
"Exactly."
The more I made my way in, the more abundant the monster corpses became.
It was opposite to the lack of corpses among the traces of battle in ruins outside.
Although there were no traces of battle, there was a large number of corpses.
Parts of their bodies were cut, burned, divided, crushed… They but a certain pattern was noticeable in them.
'They are all half-buried in the ground.'
At first glance, as I passed by, it looked like they're half-buried in the soil full of moss.
Simply put, it might be considered a natural phenomenon caused by rain and wind, but…
"Look, a certain level of mummification had progressed. Like the monsters whose blood you drained."
Corpses abandoned in hot and humid forests were bound to decay, but such laws didn't apply there.
All their hair had fallen out and turned into a dry-bark-like form.
Also, the ones that had many parts remaining that helped identify its form were twisted into bizarre shapes.
It was unlikely that the Matap Guild would have done such mischievous deeds on their bodies because of their strange taste.
The forest itself had some sort of power.
'S-stop! I can no longer go on!'
After walking for a while, the devil's sword fired an urgent mind wave.
I nodded.
"Yeah, since we reached a place where we can already see it right in front of us…"
I stopped my steps for a moment and put the devil's sword in the air with my psychokinesis.
It was so I could bring it back into my hand, if ever.
After fixating it like that, I moved on alone with an ordinary sword in my hand.
After a short moment, I finally stopped in front of it.
'This must be it.'
It was a small pond that appeared out of context in the middle of the forest.
It didn't look naturally formed.
Wherever my gaze landed, the silver-gray stone shone with a strange glow. Even when the sun could barely shine a ray through the trees' dense shadows, the stone still reflected and spread the specks of light brilliantly.
The pond's depth was taller than my height, but the water that filled it was only a handful of shallow water collected.
However, there was one thing that caught my attention more intensely than those incidental elements.
'That's hideous.'
Decorating the grand finale of the artificial traces was a statue located at the pond's twelve o'clock.
The overall shape was like a giant furry spider, but only seven legs extend symmetrically from side to side.
At the end of its long neck, six tentacles bloomed like starfish, all of which seemed to serve as its head instead of actual eyes, nose, and mouth.
I recalled its name in my head.
'Igras-sho.'
A great being called in various names according to dimensions.
There were several names that they called it.
A reciter of forgotten spells.
The first wizard.
The forefather of all traitors.
On the other hand, according to how the devil's sword described great beings, it should be the following:
'The one that governs magic.'
The statue of a cow that the Botarch High Priest considered a treasure was just a fake without even a handful of sacred power.
However, what was in front of me was a true godly being.
'The Divine Spirit at the apex of all magic.'
Its seven legs were said to refer to the seven properties of magic.
On the right frontal side, where the eighth leg would've been, were only blunt marks as if it had been torn off.
If there were a leg on that space, there would be eight that symmetrically existed in left and right.
It must not be purposely ripped off since there were only seven magical properties, but it was strangely shaped.
'I should get going.'
I shook off my thoughts and took the card out of my arms.
Judging from the devil's sword's reaction, it was almost certain, but it needed verification.
[Fire Mastery (Rank: S)]
It was an S-Rank card that I received as a reward from a dungeon.
As soon as I approached the pond and stepped on the edge stone, I confirmed that no system message came up.
It was different from the instances when it gave explanations whenever I came into contact with an item.
'Showing this kind of reaction must definitely mean…'
I threw the card into the pond without hesitation.
The card submerged into the shallow water collected on the bottom.
As I did so…
Boosh!
The transparent water quickly turned black like ink.
But only for a moment.
All the black energy was sucked into the card.
After a while, as I first saw it, the water regained its transparency. A locked card was in it.
Shhhhhh!
When I clapped my finger, I pulled the card out with psychokinesis, then checked the card in my hand.
[Fire Mastery (Rank: SS)]
The skill card that was an S-Rank had been upgraded to SS-Rank.
SS-Class magic cards were rare items that even the Matap had only a few on hand.
'Without a doubt…'
I smiled satisfactorily.
As I turned my eyes, I noticed that the surface of the pond had faintly decreased.
In the future, when human knowledge was accumulated, that liquid would be called the Holy Water.
'This is the secret behind the Matap Guild's production of S-Class or higher magic skill cards.'
The pond responded only to magic-related skill cards.
It was more profitable since if they placed an S-Class, it would be upgraded to an SS-Class like what happened to mine. Still, without [The Successor's Eyes], the probability of receiving an S-Class magic card as a reward was close to 0. Therefore, what they mostly upgraded were A-Class cards.
Of course, if the already-upgraded card were placed back into it, the miracle wouldn't repeat itself.
Also, that pond didn't bring about the miracle without any reward.
Every time a card was upgraded, the water level decreased. An equal sacrifice was required to refill its contents back up.
'The more dead monsters one brings near the pond, the more the water level rises.'
And it had to be fresh, less than a day dead.
Igras-Sho was a god with an extremely intricate taste bud.
'Looking at the shallowness of the water, they were about to start another mass hunt again. It's a good thing that I made Arthur leave for Korea at this point in time.'
The reason why I came all the way to their dungeon was to, of course, thieve the whole pond.
Then, the next question was…
How was I supposed to move it from there?
'Those Matap bastards aren't stupid either. I'm sure they have tried everything.'
They might have hesitated at first because its effects could be altered as soon as they touched it, but ever since that, it had turned to 'very unstable. It could no longer be left alone, even from the perspective of Arthur Clifford.
By mobilizing the guild members, they tried to separate the entire land around the pond from the forest to transfer it out of the Gate, but the result must have been devastating.
The moment they tried to move the stones that comprised the pond, a black flame suddenly appeared. It wrapped around the guild member's body and started to combust it.
'They tried dispelling it, but of course, it didn't work. That wasn't magic but an act of sacred power.'
The horrifying thing about the black flame created by the pond was that it wasn't only unextinguishable, but it also gave the being wrapped in flame… an indefinite eternal life.
Being unable to bear the sight of the SS-Rank hunter screaming like his soul was being torn apart while his entire body was on fire, Arthur attempted to cut his head off.
But like a miracle, no attacks were effective. The SS-Rank hunter shrieked in pain, twisting his body up in flames, and lived on while in that state of agony and torment.
Over the next few years, he obviously could no longer eat or drink. Nevertheless, he didn't die.
He was a man whose life had become a curse.
His terrible life continued to that day. Even at that moment, he had become an incombustible material in the basement of the Matap headquarters. He suffered from endless incinerations.
'But then…'
I instilled Mana in the sword I had in hand instead of the devil's sword.
[Arta's Sword Dance!]
Wee-ing!
Purple sword energy enveloped the entirety of the blade.
I then swung it while maintaining a certain trajectory.
After a while, the trajectory of my sword energy in a circular shape wrapped around the statue and pond of Igras-Sho like a cage.
That was due to the skill's characteristic, which prevented it from disappearing even after scattering the sword energy.
After creating a form surrounding it…
Shhh!
I lifted the sword.
Swish!
I then stabbed it down in that manner.
And as if in line with that move–
Pat!
Papapat!
The blade of sword energy wrapped around the pond all at once and dug into the surrounding land.
I tried to connect the penetrated sword energy to the center of the pond and the basement to dig out the entire structure.
But the moment I tried to do so…
Boosh!
The pond reacted immediately.
The black flame began to envelop the entirety of my body.
I didn't panic amid the fiery black torrents and suffocating heat that blocked my view.
I was already prepared.
'Since it's not magic, of course, dispel wouldn't work.'
That didn't mean there's no way to survive it.
I strengthened the layer of blue Mana that clotted around my whole body.
Black flame summoned by the angered pond floated on top of the shield without penetrating it.
'It was said that this was how the Matap Guild man held out at first.'
However, he didn't last long in that state.
He ran out of Mana in the middle of his resistance.
On the other hand…
– Active Mana: 163,000 (+70,500) / 92,500
– Potential Mana: 171,100
I compared the speed at which the black flame consumed my active Mana and the speed at which the sword energy penetrated the ground.
If I thought I couldn't get the timing right, I would have to give up and take out another item to put out the flame.
The damage would be enormous if that were to happen.
But…
'All right, it's possible!'
There was no hesitation in the judgment I made.
Regardless of the flames burning on the shield, I continued to stab stacks upon stacks of sword energies deep into the ground.
That was when it started to react.
Rumble!
Suddenly, the earth vibrated intensely, and the ground fluttered like waves.
At the center of the shaking was the pond composed of stones.
After a little while…
Screech!
An eerie scream rang throughout the forest.
I instinctively felt the nerves all over my body rising.
'It's finally showing its true colors!'
The floor of the moss-filled forest fluttered.
Crush!
Rumble!
A large black tentacle rose from the earth surrounding the circular pond, throwing up a pile of dirt.
The black flesh that revealed itself twisted around as if it were in pain.
'I guessed right.'
It's hard to imagine by only looking externally, but that pond was not an item. It was a part of a living creature.
That was the reason why [The Successor's Eyes] didn't respond even though we were in contact.
That black tentacle extended from beneath the ground throughout the forest to absorb a monster's body and filled the pond with water in return.
The word used for such a creature that used God's power was…
'Sacred beast!'
The black tentacle, which was wriggling as if to struggle with the pond at the center of it, was cut and sliced off by my sword energy, causing it to spill a foul-odored body fluid.
Without blinking an eye, I poured down my sword energy woven in a net-like shape.
It didn't take long for me to finish it.
Screech!
The tentacles buried in the ground were completely revealed above the ground.
I quickly bound it with the net of sword energy.
The tentacles fluttered, the pond flipped over, and all the holy water poured out, but the water could be refilled later on.
"Okay, I caught it!"
The moment the sacred beast was completely under my control, all the black flames surrounding my body disappeared.
I stared at the thing wriggling in a net of purple glow.
I had ever only heard of it in my previous life. That was my first time putting it into action.
The act of a human capturing a sacred creature was the first of its kind. That was the case in both my past and present life's history.
"Now, shall we move this?"
According to the plan, the dungeon wouldn't be closed right away.
Instead, a new dungeon had been prepared to serve as the new place the sacred beast would be transferred into.
That was the gray plain where I planted the tree seedlings with Nate and Hibiki before.
I thought of the coordinates leading up to it and injected Mana into the [Door of Hope].

Chapter 99
I Came Back And Conquered It All
Trap (1)
The dry telepathy resonated in my head.
– Coordinate verification complete. A Mana core containing 18,100 Mana is required to transfer one human species to the user's destination.
It's very expensive.
Frowning, I injected the Mana core in it.
– It's now ready to be used.
I pulled the devil's sword that was remained stationary far away with psychokinesis and pushed it into the gate first.
There was no admission fee for the devil's sword as it was treated as an item.
I then dragged the sacred beast's body, which was tangled into the sword-energy-woven net, into the light.
After confirming the transfer location…
Swoosh!
The scenery changed.
'Ugh! I-it is too close.'
The shriek of the sword echoed through my mind.
"Such a wuss."
Even if it's a sacred beast dug from the ground, the sacred power must've remained to a certain degree. The devil's sword that was in close distance with it acted like it was about to die.
Swish!
With psychokinesis, I floated the devil's sword high up in the sky.
As its distance with the sacred beast widened again, it looked like it could relax again. The whining mental wave stopped as well.
'By the way, why have you come here?'
A gray plain stretched vastly.
It was inside the dungeon that only I, Hibiki, and Nate knew about.
That time again, I moved directly from dungeon to dungeon without going through Earth.
The place where the [Door of Hope] vomited me out was near the newly planted tree seedlings, which were placed by tilling over the preexisting plants.
"What do you mean why have I come here? Isn't that obvious?"
The seedling colony wasn't yet enough to be called a forest, but it could be considered within the standards of landscaping projects in small parks.
I was internally impressed.
"It's growing so fast. It should bear fruit in a little while."
Then…
Dududududu!
I heard a large crowd rushing in nearby.
"That's fast."
They released a roar that silenced a mutter.
"Rarghhh!"
A legion of monsters gathered, and their charge caused clouds of dust to rise.
The army's shadows were enough to cover the horizon.
'Why are there so many of them? Is this place on the verge of collapse?'
The devil's sword, who didn't have any idea about what was going on, wondered.
I shook my head.
"It's not a collapse. Most of them were in the vicinity before I came and are rushing in because they smelled me."
'But they're too dense compared to the area of the dungeon.'
In terms of tree management, the two recently took care of the monster density to prevent it from rising too much. Nevertheless, they quickly gathered again, crossing the dungeon boundaries.
I paid attention to the tree colony once again.
"Well, the effect is evident."
It was the trees that attracted the monsters beyond the boundary into the dungeon at a rapid pace.
Taking back my glance, I lowered the bound body of the sacred beast and flew, using the next energy formation, high into the sky.
Shhhhhh!
I grabbed the handle of the devil's sword that had been floating in the air.
Whoong!
The Mana injected into the blade was amplified several times over, turning it into blazing purple sword energy.
I held it firmly and aimed it down at the group of monsters rushing in from all directions.
I then raised the sword and hacked it to the ground without hesitation.
Swish!
Following the trajectory, a dense purple rain linking the blade to the ground was summoned.
The brilliant heavy storm bombarded the ground.
Boo-boo-boo-boom!
With a blast, the earth was crushed like a sheet of paper.
Heavy shock waves and intense energy storms tore the legion of monsters swiftly as they ran below the artillery barrage.
The monsters' shrieks and screams that had been ringing so loud it almost tore my ears off were quickly silenced by the catastrophe I caused.
However, even as that took place, the rain of sword energy avoided one area above the ground. The land with the sacred beast and trees was missed as if invisible lines blocked it.
After a little while…
On the ground, brutally-torn-apart monster corpses extended for miles like a red carpet.
It was complete annihilation.
'… I'm going to go crazy.'
The devil's sword, who was looking at the scene, lamented.
"Why are you the one that's going to go crazy when I'm the one hunting?"
I clearly understood what it meant, but I pretended to be unaware.
The devil's sword replied as if he was shocked by the cruel sight before us.
'You've become more like a monster than a hunter.'
It hoped for me to die soon so that it could skip to the next owner, but it wailed since it seemed like that possibility was farfetched.
It kept going.
'Well, you've been consuming so many damn cores…'
The devil's sword delivered bitter telepathy as it watched almost all the hunting by my side.
In between the process of handling guild work once a week and dealing with tasks such as achievement quests and finding aliens, I hunted in my spare time.
At that moment, the cores were used for items such as the [Door of Hope] and Mana absorption. I had no choice but to collect it diligently.
Shh!
As I pointed my fingers below us, the Mana core that the monster legion had in them came up to me.
Like a group of fireflies flying in unison, sparkling blue crystals flocked in from all directions.
[Mana Drain!]
I instantly absorbed the cores flowing in like the Milky Way.
Just like a stream of water was sprinkled on the crusty dried ground, the Mana stored in the core spread into my body instantly.
"Now, then."
I came down to the ground again, positioning myself a little further from the sacred beast to avoid the overreaction of the devil's sword.
After setting my foot on the ground, I swung my sword once more.
Boom!
I dug through the ground, and a large hole that a couple of trolls could be buried in was created.
I then lifted the sacred beast, tied with a purple net, into the air.
'It looks bizarre no matter how many times I look at it.'
Black tentacles stretched 360 degrees in all directions wriggled to make a fuss, but it couldn't escape from the net. The tentacles that clumped up by being tied together looked like tree roots.
Screech!
The base of the tentacles connected the center of its body to the stone pond that was aboveground and the idol of Igras-Sho.
After moving the sacred beast's position a little, the tentacle part below was inserted into the hole.
"It feels like repotting a plant."
Burying only the tentacles in the soil, I left only the pond and the statue above the ground.
As I filled the gap of the hole…
Drrrrrrrrr!
I immediately felt a slight vibration under my feet.
The environment suddenly changed, but the sacred beast didn't attempt to run away.
It's originally not the type to move from place to place, but rather the type to wait for food while burrowed.
And the changed environment was…
'There's plenty of food everywhere.'
I could feel it stretching out a thick tentacle underground.
The food there had been torn apart mercilessly, so it's a mess, but it wouldn't affect its absorption of nutrients.
The most important part was that there was a lot.
"Look."
Indeed, the monster corpses, which dyed the gray land with thick bodily fluids, were gradually buried underground.
The devil's sword exclaimed.
'So, this is what we were aiming for.'
I nodded.
"The feeding environment would be better here than the forest."
I took a look at the bottom of the pond, where the waterless exposed floor was.
As if to prove my words, moisture was already collecting in it.
"The holy water will fill in soon."
The devil's sword raised a counterargument.
'However, since you buried the sacred beast in the ground, the sanctification began around this area. I can feel it right now, and the monsters will notice it. They won't be approaching here from now on.'
The monsters didn't touch the forest where the sacred beast was buried in Shepherd 2 Dungeon.
The hunters had to kill the beasts themselves and drag them into the woods.
But I had taken that into consideration.
"I don't think you need to worry about that."
With the sword in my hand, I flew up into the sky once more.
The place where my gaze reached was near the boundary of the dungeon.
The devil's sword could see where I was staring.
'No way?!'
He was naturally surprised.
It wa as if the fresh air naturally permeated the place where the stagnant air escaped.
As soon as the beasts in the densely populated land disappeared, new monsters beyond the barrier crossed one by one.
Looking at them for a while, they faltered a little as they approached the place where the influence of divine power reached.
However, their hesitation didn't last long.
They moved into the Holy Land.
'Did they overcome their instincts? They are ignoring the urge to avoid sacred power, and they're flocking here!'
"To be exact, relatively bigger instincts have overcome smaller ones."
I saw a cluster of trees arranged as if to surround the sacred beast.
"The trees' ability to attract monsters is powerful enough to suppress their resistance to divine power. It's like they're addicted to drugs."
'What the hell must that be…?'
"You'll notice when it bears fruit."
'Hm?'
I finally finished setting the basics.
Monsters would constantly flock around the sacred beast from then on, so I just had to clean it regularly like what I just did.
With that method, it was possible to secure the holy water at a much faster pace than the Matap Guild had managed so far.
First of all, the number of monsters rushing in was incomparable.
Shepherd 2 dungeon had been expanded five times, and although I had never expanded the place, the difference was still obvious.
'Most importantly, this dungeon won't collapse even after a long time.'
In my experience in the future, that was the case.
"Now, shall we go back to Earth?"
It's time to move on to the next stage.
'Securing the sacred beast and transplanting it was easier than I thought.'
I was prepared to take a few days to do it, but it didn't even take a day.
I mumbled as I looked down at the devil's sword.
"You're much more useful than I thought, aren't you?"
'… What?'
The devil's sword let out telepathy as if it were sincerely dumbfounded.
I didn't care about the reaction and kept thinking.
It was a Mana amplifier, a brainwashing device with a 50% chance of success, and a divine power detector with tremendous accuracy.
Items that were useful in so many ways were rare.
'Certainly, without the devil's sword, I would have had a lot of trouble finding the sacred beast. It wasn't a coverable area by [Penetration], that dungeon.'
The conclusion of the contemplation was the following:
"Okay, I'll use you well for the rest of my life. If there's a function that you haven't told me yet, spill it already."
'…'
The devil's sword didn't even answer back as if it's left speechless.
Listening to a deep sigh that penetrated my mind, I thought about Arthur Clifford that time.
My work had been finished much earlier than I thought, so I didn't have to let him be anymore.
When I returned to Earth, I'd take care of him.
*
"Seo Jin-Wook is starting to move."
When Arthur Clifford heard the news, it was late at night. Seo Jin-Wook, who had completed the burglary, returned to Earth just a few days later.
He could've never imagined that Seo Jin-Wook robbed the treasure of Shepherd 2 Dungeon.
Since Seo Jin-Wook disappeared with only the sacred beast instead of Clearing the dungeon, the system message that came up when coming into contact with the Gate remained unchanged.
Therefore, it was natural that the guild members who guarded outside the door didn't notice the change.
It was as Seo Jin-Wook planned to deal with Arthur Clifford in Korea.
"Is he alone?"
"Yes, it is said that he drove himself and just got on the highway."
Arthur's eyes flash.
"Okay, let's get it done by the end of the day. I've been in Korea for far too long."
He looked around at his minions from England.
All seven of them, except for Arthur, which was an SSS-Class, and one that was an S-Class, were all SS-Class.
'I can't believe I'm using this many resources only because of him. I think it's a little bit of a waste, but…'
Due to Arthur Clifford's personality, he wanted to keep all operations free of any blemishes.
The persistence of not leaving a single possibility brought Arthur Clifford to where he was at that time.
'Seo Jin-Wook, that bastard, he's unlucky. I can't believe he's moving in the same day when all the forces I've summoned had been mobilized.'
From Arthur's point of view, he couldn't even imagine that Seo Jin-Wook waited until that day to deliver a single strike on purpose.
"Who's the target other than Seo Jin-Wook?"
"The two are believed to be staying at home."
"Okay, we split from here, as instructed beforehand."
"Roger!"
Five people chased after Seo Jin-Wook with a car, while the other four headed to the Guild Master's house.
Arthur Clifford was obviously included in the five men who pursued Seo Jin-Wook.
As the vehicle moved, Arthur reminded the four people with him about the operation plan again.
"Once again, capture comes first. If you kill him before he reveals information, all of our trouble will go to waste."
"Yes!"
"It's forbidden to use stealth, blink, or any heist type magic in front of him. It's troublesome if his unique skill copies those magic skills."
In Arthur's head, there was no assumption that they would lose the battle with their numbers.
His most feared option was to kill Seo Jin-Wook by mistake or make him copy magic such as blink and then using it to run away.
"It would be a disaster if he escaped by jumping through space all of a sudden when we thought that we caught him."
Arthur continued his instructions.
Most were based on the information provided by Seo Moon-Ga-In.
"At the time of his promotion, his active Mana was just over 30,000. However, there is a rumor that his potential Mana is unprecedentedly high. Assuming that it has been activated steadily after the screening, his current Mana is estimated to be around 35,000."
The guild member asked back when he heard that.
"Isn't that overrated? Him being able to activate 5,000 again in a matter of months?"
"If he's not at that state, it would've been impossible for the three of them to stop an A-Class break."
The guild member replied with a smile.
"No way, that's because of the dragon perk."
Many hunters witnessed a black dragon in the place where the A-Class break was stopped.
Unlike Orcs and humans, the dragon's solid body was extremely slow to decay, so people couldn't tell whether it was an undead dragon or a living dragon.
What's certain was that one of the three had the ability to control the dragon.
"Even if there was a dragon, it doesn't change the fact that the break was stopped with only three people. Considering that the dragon's performance is more than 90 percent, it's still true."
Both the basic assumptions and hypotheses were slightly off the mark.
"The reason for sending four SS-Class members to his house was in consideration of the chance that it might not be Seo Jin-Wook who controlled the dragon. It could be the ability of the target left over there."
"Well, that's true."
While they were continuing their conversations like that…
"Seo Jin-Wook's car stopped."
The hunter of the Matap Guild magically observed Seo Jin-Wook walking after getting out of the car.
Without getting out of the vehicle himself, he chased the movement with his magical gaze from a long distance.
And a little later, he saw the scene that he expected.
"… There's indeed a Gate here! There are no government management personnel or isolation facilities around. It's an undiscovered Gate!"
Arthur nodded.
"It's as she said."
On the day the two met, Seo Moon-Ga-In said the following:
'Seo Jin-Wook's official record of Clearing dungeons is too poor compared to his growth rate. His record could be counted with my fingers. With that level of combat experience, it's impossible to achieve SS-Class instantly, activate Mana… and even stop A-Class breaks. I'm sure of it. Seo Jin-Wook is hunting in dungeons via undiscovered Gates without the government's knowledge!'
Her guess was right.
"Seo Moon-Ga-In would go wild for joy."
It would only be a matter of time before Seo Jin-Wook saw the end of his career if that was reported to the government.
The Celestial Dragon's reputation would also be greatly damaged.
"But let's do the tip-off after we get our hands on him."
"… Ah, Seo Jin-Wook has entered the Gate now!"
"Let's head out, too."
Five hunters climbed the mountain through the darkness.
They soon saw the Gate where he entered.
"It's a B-Class dungeon."
Arthur read the message.
Dungeon Information
Level: B
Maximum number of entrants: 7 (Current number of people inside: 1 person)
Clear Conditions: Annihilation of monsters in the dungeon.
Time left to evolve: 1 year, 80 days, 11 hours, and 30 minutes.
Condition: Slightly stable
It was easy for an SS-Class hunter to roam alone in there.
"Okay."
There was no better place to capture Seo Jin-Wook than in a dungeon.
They could completely block off witnesses, and they could hide the noise and flashes from the battle.
"As planned, one stays as contact, and the rest goes into the dungeon."
If they went inside, they couldn't communicate with the outside world, so one S-Class was left behind in order for them to be able to go back and forth between the dungeon and Earth in case of emergencies.
The other three SS-Class and Arthur entered the dungeon.
In preparation for the event, they also packed one returning stone, so there was nothing to be worried about.
"Finally, it's the moment that I've been waiting for."
Entering the blue brilliance of the gate, Arthur smiled satisfactorily.
The key to extending the Gate's life on the brink of collapse was beyond that brilliant light.
The guild's continued growth and Arthur's dazzling glory seemed to unfold in front of him.

I Came Back And Conquered It All
Trap (2)
It was biting cold that awaited Arthur and the other Matap guild members as soon as they crossed the gate.
"Gasp!"
The hunters who set foot on the ice swallowed their screams one after another.
They suppressed the pain, which was like carving their flesh, with superhuman patience.
They couldn't reveal their presence to the target, and they didn't know how near he might be around.
Arthur looked down at the terminal.
The current temperature is indicated.
"Negative 63 degrees?!"
In the visible range, the only thing that they could see were white glaciers.
It was a world where everything was covered with thick ice walls.
Arthur pondered for a moment.
'It's a temperature that's impossible for ordinary people to move around.'
He looked at his party members.
Everyone was above SS-Rank.
There was nothing to worry about the hunters freezing to death with that temperature when they had already surpassed normal human beings' state.
But it wasn't like they didn't feel the cold, so Arthur immediately cast his magic.
[Wide-Range Cold Resistance (Rank: SS)]!
As the Mana wave gently wrapped around the surrounding, the hunters' faces, which had been distorted, returned to normal.
At the same time, Arthur's Mana began to be consumed slowly.
'We'll have to deal with him as quickly as possible.'
Arthur didn't doubt that once Seo Jin-Wook was in his hands, he would spit out everything he knew.
'It didn't matter if he's an SS-Rank. No one has endured it so far.'
It wasn't his first time to torture an SS-Rank hunter.
He was confident that no one could stand the harsh methods he had mastered over the past two decades and that he was sure that he knew better than anyone else in the world how to provide maximum pain to an Awakened.
'A naive boy who's still so young has been acting cheeky in front of me. I'll make you beg for me to kill you while you're squeezing out your tears and mucus.'
When he glanced at the wizard, he nodded his head and cast out a spell again.
[Trail Seeker!]
Upon initiation, the wizard's eyes turned transparent, and a blue light lingered.
He focused while observing in all directions.
The effectiveness of the magic that overcame the [Penetration] type weaknesses was limited to a certain distance. It showed non-physical footprints that displayed the path anything had traveled.
That time, the wizard's gaze turned to the sky instead of the ground.
"… Already more than two kilometers away."
They opened their mouths only after confirming that their voices wouldn't be heard.
"Already?"
The wizard continued, his eyes still glancing far away.
"He's flying."
"Is it Levitation? Has he mastered magic skills? No, did he copy it from someone else?"
If it was true that he could copy others, it was a sign to raise the evaluation of Seo Jin-Wook's unique skill to a higher level.
'There's no one around here who uses Levitation right now. Can he remember a skill that he once copied a long time ago? What kind of unfair skill is that–!'
The wizard, who was observing, soon shook his head.
"I don't think it's magic. No magic can make you grow wings out on your back, is there?"
"Right. it must be an item!"
His eyes flashed.
"What is his flight speed?"
"Only a Levitation of S-Rank and above can catch up."
Arthur's expression cast a deeper shadow of greed.
'It's a performance that I've never heard of before!'
If it's an item comparable to S-Rank magic, it would be priced tremendously.
Arthur was so impressed but then…
The [Stardust Wing] performance was more than that, and there was no way that he could know that Seo Jin-Wook was deliberately flying slowly.
Tate, the only close-ranged hunter among his men who entered, offered his opinion.
"If the distance is already wide and he has flight-type artifacts, wouldn't it be better to wait outside the gate and strike him when he gets out? He'd be caught off guard if we did that."
The place they were in wasn't a favorable battlefield for the close-range hunter who couldn't use Levitation or master cold resistance.
However, Arthur flatly rejected Tate's proposal.
"He is the hunter that the Korean government values the most. If he suddenly disappears, it's a given that they will put all their efforts into searching for him- Even if the illegal invasion of dungeon charges is considered. If there are any traces left of us being involved, it will become troublesome. It's best to deal with it in the dungeon."
He decided to track him before he got away any further.
"We are chasing him right away! Tate needs to be taken care of by someone!"
Three wizards and a swordsman flew through the cold air.
Whoosh!
As the flight began, their body temperature decreased faster, and every time it did so, the cold resistance spell sucked up Arthur's Mana even more.
Gulp.
He took a sip of a Mana Potion and watched the front.
As he did that…
"I have a vision on him!"
Indeed, ahead of them was Seo Jin-Wook, who penetrated the cloudless sky in a straight line.
A pair of wings made of powders of light could be observed over a huge backpack covering half of his body.
"What's that backpack? It's too big to be a typical combat backpack."
"Oh! he's lowering his altitude."
Seo Jin-Wook began to lower himself toward the ice-covered land.
"Do you want us to take him down?"
"As soon as he lands and stops moving, let's immediately cast a restraining spell."
"Yes, sir."
While the Awakened of the Matap was staring at his diagonally falling trajectory…
"What is that?"
"…!"
Beyond the white horizon, a structure appeared, which stood out profusely.
It was a giant building made of transparent ice.
"Doesn't it look like an altar?"
It was similar to what usually appeared in prophecy-type dungeons.
The difference was that it seemed to be carved from a giant chunk of ice.
'If something like that appears in the dungeon, it's usually…'
It meant that it was a point where people could receive expensive items and acquirement.
Arthur reserved his plan to attack immediately.
"Wait. Let's observe what he does in there first."
Just by considering the [Aurora of Stability] and the flying item on his back that was unknown to the world, it was clear that Seo Jin-Wook had some kind of secret to discovering several items that others didn't even know existed.
'Could it be that that altar might be involved?'
"Don't you think he will spill everything if we just catch him and torture him to say everything he knows?"
"If we don't specify the question and start with torture, it's less efficient. If we want to be able to tell if he's still lying or hiding, it's better to start after securing as much data as possible from the perspective of the one that will torture him."
"Ah… Of course!"
They observed him quietly, using stealth-type magic.
In an invisible gaze, Seo Jin-Wook walked to the center of the altar.
In there was something that nobody expected.
"… Flame?"
Instead of an altar roof, transparent ice covered the structure, which seemed to reflect sunlight and concentrate on a point like a magnifying glass.
There was a torch made out of ice where the solar heat gathered, and a light green fire was fluttering on top of it.
The fiery green flames that burned in such a cold and windy environment couldn't be normal.
'It's definitely an item!'
Furthermore, it was burning on top of the ice.
The mysterious altar scene overlapped to create an unusual atmosphere.
"Oh, that! I see!"
Arthur finally recognized its identity as a memory flashed in his head like lightning.
The reason why the Hunter society had been so famous those days!
He shouted its name quietly.
"It's the [Vital Flame]!"
From the moment the Senator provided supplies to more than a thousand customers, hidden secrets between the rich could no longer be maintained.
The rumor about the item that was useless to high-level Awakened but many wealthy people were frantically looking for it had spread to the hunters. Those that sensed the enormous value of it searched in the dungeons around the world.
The Washington Market shut its mouth about the source, and if they pressured them by force, they would be making the black markets around the world into enemies. That was why there was only one way, which was to pry around dungeons.
Despite the endless search of hunters worldwide, the source couldn't be found. The treasure worth the highest bid price remained out of their hands.
"Wait, that's where it comes from? I could have never imagined!"
A delighted look spread among the hunters.
"Yeah! It's common sense for items like that to be mined in fields covered with flames and magma! This is way out of the box."
When Seo Jin-Wook took out a branch from his backpack, green light spread from the ice altar.
After putting it in a special container, Seo Jin-Wook spread the wings of light.
"What do we do? Should we ambush him now?"
"Wait a minute."
Arthur's gaze deepened.
"He doesn't seem like he would return right away."
His prediction was right.
Seo Jin-Wook, who flew up, turned around and started moving farther away instead of returning to the gate.
"What if there were a few more altars like that?"
The size of the flame they just saw was ridiculously small compared to the amount released in the market.
Recognizing his intentions, his men nodded.
"Okay. You're saying we should keep tracking him, right?"
"Yes, we will keep an eye on him."
Arthur started flying again as he quietly smiled at Seo Jin-Wook's back.
'He's a treasure trove beyond my imagination.'
The smile around his mouth deepened.
'Go on! Go ahead and dig up all you've got right in front of me!'
While traveling in that manner, the temperature was getting lower and lower.
*
Afterward, Seo Jin-Wook got another item that looked like the Vital Flame, and the process was the same.
After collecting, he soared into the sky, and again, instead of heading toward the gate, he changed his direction a little and moved away.
But at that time, the travel time was longer than before.
Unlike when it was only a few minutes, 20 minutes had already passed.
"Well… Guild Master."
A subordinate carefully spoke up.
"I think you should make a decision now."
The problem was that the temperature had begun to drop rapidly after reaching a certain point.
The terminal was already showing negative 100 degrees.
"The cold air has begun to break through the resistance spell."
The chill made even the SS-Class hunters curl up and slow their movement.
Arthur grumbled.
"We can't hold on any longer. Seo Jin-Wook, that bastard, did he cover his entire body with cold-resistant items? Well, I'm sure he would have fully prepared if he regularly went in and out of places like this."
He nodded his head then issued an order.
"Instead of waiting for him to land, we take him down in mid-air. Before we attack, everyone must make sure that your Mana capacity is at the maximum using potions."
Their Mana was quite worn out because they maintained their Levitation for a long time, and Arthur, who was continuing the cold resistance, consumed even more.
Gulp, gulp…
"Now then."
Just before the interception…
"Huh? He's going down."
Seo Jin-Wook began to lower his altitude as if he had been waiting for the opportunity.
Looking at him, Arthur spoke.
"Good timing. Whatever's here, the tracking stops here."
"Yes!"
Seo Jin-Wook quickly stepped on the glacier-covered land.
It was after they already had made quite a distance from the Gate.
"Huh?"
A wizard mumbled, bestranged.
"There's nothing here."
Unlike where Seo Jin-Wook landed until before, there was no ice altar in sight.
They scanned beyond the horizon, but there was nothing around them.
"There's no more room to continue observing. Capture him right away."
Arthur, who was looking down saying that, flinched for a moment.
'… What is that bastard doing?'
Seo Jin-Wook stood still with no expression as if he was waiting for him.
That was a completely different attitude than how he had been acting busy so far.
'It couldn't be!'
The four people who were chasing Seo Jin-Wook were completely hidden.
They landed on the ground, maintaining their stealth. Three people, excluding the close-range typed, also prepared the spell in unison.
The moment when the Rune Stone shone…
Paht!
Their Mana boiled up, and the stealth that they were maintaining was broken.
As they did so, Seo Jin-Wook's glance moved and stopped at them slowly.
The hunters sensed discomfort when they saw his expression.
There was no sense of danger, bafflement, agitation, or horror in his face.
Whoong!
The three wizards invoked the spell in unison.
[Neutralizing Chains (Rank: S)]!
The moment the three magic circles covered the sky, the swordsman blocked his path in preparation for the instance that Seo Jin-Wook would rush in. However, his eyes grew bigger at what Seo Jin-Wook did.
The gap that momentarily occurred at the onset of activation was enough time for any SS-Class hunter to dig in.
But Seo Jin-Wook stood his ground.
Cha-ka-cha-ka-chak!
The air was twisted, and a thick chain was summoned to tie up Seo Jin-Wook's body.
It was the skill Seo Jin-Wook used against Park Chang-Hee and the Black Dragon before.
The chain beyond the laws of the material world was conjured and restrained his movements thrice.
"…"
Seo Jin-Wook's face was calm even when his body was tied up.
Arthur Clifford's sense of discomfort had filled all the way up to the top of his head.
His senses continuously rang warning signals, telling him that something was wrong with the situation.
And… it's dangerous.
"… What is he hiding?"
The question had an overlapping meaning.
What was his secret in discovering a bunch of rare items swiftly?
And in that situation, why did he keep such a relaxed expression?
Thud, thud.
The anxiety that pressed his temples, following the heartbeat, was rising from an area of instinct.
'That can't be true. Even if he's an SS-class hunter, he can't get out of this situation!'
Seo Jin-Wook finally opened his mouth.
"What are you going to do with me?"
Arthur's eyes turned fiercer.
" You're a cheeky little boy. You better cooperate and spill out everything you know. About the Aurora of Stability… and the Vital Flame! Tell us everything else you're hiding as well."
"Otherwise? Are you going to torture me?"
Arthur smiled mischievously.
"You know of your destiny well."
"Then are you going to take me to England like this?"
"Yes!"
"Then, are you going to take me to the seventh basement floor of the Matap headquarters? Right next to the torture chamber where your old subordinate was trapped in? The room next to the man who has been suffering for years because of your erroneous orders?"
"… How could you?!"
At that moment–
"Huh?"
The swordsman searching through Seo Jin-Wook's bag, convinced that the opponent was incapacitated, sounded horrified.
"T- this!"
The special container was opened, but there was no green flame in it.
"No way!"
Arthur gritted his teeth.
Tangled in chains, Seo Jin-Wook continued in a calm tone.
"Yeah, it was fake. I can't believe you fell for such basic illusion magic…. You guys tend to rely too much on [Analysis] magic. That's a magic spell that can't even be triggered unless it's within a meter away."
"Eek!"
Arthur tried to suppress his surging anger.
A question filled his head.
'Why the hell?'
Why did he lure them all the way there by utilizing a bunch of fakes like that?
Arthur didn't know, but the answer to his question was already 'storming' its way to their location.
"H-huh?"
The wizard cried out in bafflement.
Swoosh!
The atmosphere changed rapidly, and strong winds stormed around them.
And then.
Zap!
"The terminal!"
The cold air, strong enough to pierce through the SS-Class cold resistance magic, froze and destroyed their belongings.
Seo Jin-Wook, who was waiting for the extreme turbulence that was supposed to blow into that place at that time, quietly smiled.
"Good job coming all this way."
He checked on his opponents and murmured internally.
'One SSS-Class, and three SS-Class, huh.'
Silently, he activated his skill.
Paht!
"No way!"
One-third of the chain pile that was restraining Seo Jin-Wook disappeared in an instant.
"De-spell?!"
Arthur's thoughts were complicatedly intertwined.
'Who the hell did he copy that from? No one in Korea has mastered S-Class De-spell!'
He barely swallowed his bafflement.
'Let's stay calm!'
Three wizards cast a spell in unison, one of which was canceled.
To invalidate one S-Class magic required a tremendous amount of Mana.
'Yes, the magic of the remaining two is intact and well. He can't touch even those because of his Mana–!'
[De-spell].
Paht!
[De-spell].
Paht!
Arthur couldn't believe his eyes.
S-Rank De-spells were cast thrice, one after another.
While that was happening, the opponent didn't even drink any Mana potion.
If that was possible…
"T-that's not the Mana capacity of a human!"
The sharp frosty air that stormed in even at that moment consumed Arthur's Mana at a rapid pace.
Before he could finish speaking…
Swish!
Seo Jin-Wook held up his sword and charged towards them!

Chapter 101
I Came Back And Conquered It All
Trap (3)
I kicked the ground and dashed.
In front of the swung devil's sword trajectory, the face of the wizard preparing a spell was seen.
However, right before the sword touched…
Clang!
Metallic friction noise rang through the air.
The only swordsman among the Matap party was standing in my way.
"Faster!"
He desperately shouted at the wizards standing behind him.
It was all in an attempt to buy time for them to complete a new spell.
Boosh!
Our sword blades clashed tautly.
He must've been confident that he wouldn't be easily defeated in a battle of strength because he was also an SS-Class.
However, it was all meaningless.
The blue sword entangled in his sword was quickly buried in the purple flash I caused.
"Keuup!"
The total amount of Mana didn't guarantee an absolute win.
If it's a one-on-one Mana battle like that, it was meaningless.
"Kaaargh!"
The swordsman slowly got pushed back while screaming.
The point of contact between the two swords, which were crossed in an "X" position, was gradually leaning toward him.
His face distorted, predicting the bleak future that awaited him.
The man who faced the blazing flash that was right in front of his nose eventually let go of my sword.
Clang!
He managed to shake off my weapon and aimed for a counterattack, but it didn't work out as he intended.
Swish!
The moment the devil's sword fell off, the purple sword energy that had wrapped around my sword remained as if it were an afterimage in the place where the two swords were clashing though nothing should have been left in that space.
The afterimage then became real. Instead of moving with the devil's sword, the remaining sword energy was shot forward as if it found the right timing to strike.
It directly struck the swordsman's face in that manner.
"… Huh?"
He mustn't even have realized how he died.
The swordsman's head split horizontally.
The top of his head, including his eyebrows and forehead, shot up into the sky.
The sharp attack cut through close to the top of both eyes.
Thud.
The swordsman fell onto the icy floor.
His oozing blood froze rapidly because of the cold air.
Instead of flowing, it left a dark-red-ice puddle on the ground.
Above the corpse, red snow fell all around.
"Keup!"
On the other hand, the wizards didn't lose focus despite their colleagues' death. They still managed to complete the spell.
They were veterans, after all. They've reached a point where instead of completely relying on the system, they started to enter the state of practicing Mana control.
[Conditional Barrier (Rank: S)]
What the wizard on the front that first completed was a defense spell.
Woong!
Golden steam came out of the wizard's body. It formed a shape that turned into a dome, which then surrounded the three of them blurrily.
It was a conditional field that perfectly defended external shocks but never interfered with the forces that shot outward.
When a colleague was in danger, they created a shield to protect themselves instead of helping him or taking the enemy's head by looking for a window. That was Arthur's way of fighting.
Before the other two could activate a spell, I had already rushed in on them.
Paht!
The surface where my foot touched was leveled down. The air burst forth along my movement trajectory, causing shockwaves to resonate. With acceleration beyond human limitations, the distance was narrowed in an instant.
When I entered the neared space where the golden dome was surrounding them, the wizards completed their spells by a hair's breadth.
[Anger of Thunder (Rank: SS)]!
[Lighting Vortex (Rank: S)]!
Zaaaaap!
Rumble! Ba-ba-bam!
In that extreme situation, the spell they chose was electrical magic that instantly reached temperatures of tens of thousands of degrees.
A straight line of lightning passed without resistance even when it collided with the gold barrier.
The whirlwind that embodied intense bolts of lightning stormed towards me. Amplified currents, lightning, and heated air expanded and rushed in.
However, the disastrous sight they would have waited for didn't turn into reality.
Rumbleee!
The river of currents that pierced through the distance between us caused the winds to grow hotter as it rang with the vibration from the blast.
They believed that would have turned me into a pile of ashes as I would have been caught up in the devastating flash.
However, I rushed in without any scratch despite being wrapped with millions of volts around my body.
"No… wa-!"
Crush!
The barrier broke a little against the might of the sword I struck down.
The reason why I chose to push forward with strength was for the simple reason that magic efficiency was much better by amplifying the sword energy with the devil's sword than De-spell.
But for them, who would have no idea what was going on, froze as if they had seen a ghost.
For an ordinary Hunter, breaking the S-Class defense spell with sword energy was out of the box.
"Fucking… Monster!"
Crrrack!
The barrier started to crack.
Clatter!
It didn't take long after that for the barrier to shatter into fragments like glass.
With a roar, a gold-white halo and fluttering dust of light scattered all over the place.
The wizard's expression stiffened as he shook in the vibrating air.
Crush!
As his neck was sliced open, his face became static as if he was petrified as his head soared into the air.
'There's only two left, including Arthur.'
At that moment, I saw a strange pattern of Mana.
As I turned my gaze, I almost laughed in vain.
'… Indeed, it never disappoints.'
The remaining SS-Class wizard stared at me with a blazing glare as if he was going to take revenge.
At the same time, he concentrated on reciting an attack spell.
Arthur was behind him, pretending to invoke magic, putting his hands in his arms and injecting Mana.
Looking at the reaction pattern, what he was holding was a returning stone.
'He's quick on his feet.'
Seeing how he decided so quickly that there was no chance of winning, he must've swiftly finished his calculations.
He understood that my Mana capacity was beyond human limitations, considering I used S-Class De-spells several times.
The fact that I was fine in lightning and that the freezing storm didn't hinder me meant that I used SSS-Class electrical resistance, heat resistance, and cold resistance magic, which were all a card rank that even the Matap couldn't get their hands on.
Furthermore, [Arta's Sword Dance] moved in unpredictable shapes.
Arthur himself, on the other hand, was rapidly losing his Mana in the freezing storm.
Although he was quick to judge that he couldn't win like that…
'Well, he's still the same.'
He was thinking of running away while leaving his subordinates at the forefront.
It took time to activate the returning stone. The reason why he secretly prepared alone instead of ordering his subordinates to run away with the return stone was…
'He needs the other guy to buy time while he's trying to escape.'
I couldn't let him be.
"Snake 3!"
The snake, which loosened from its bracelet-like shape, lifted its head and opened its mouth wide.
When it spat out the item in an instant as it was trained, I snatched it.
I grabbed the whip handle.
[Dain-Snu Family Slavemaster's Whip (Rank: SS)]
Whoop!
Paht!
The thin metal-covered whip lashed at them, leaving a silver afterimage.
With the sound of tearing up the air, it wrapped around Arthur's body.
"Graaaargh!"
Wee-ing
It was as intended by a family's slave master in the past, who was in charge of controlling the Awakened slaves.
The whip that restrained Arthur absorbed his Mana without leaving any leftovers.
Since he had already lost a considerable amount of Mana, it devoured all of it before he could even resist.
That caused the blue waves that seeped out of his body and flowed to the returning stone to dissipate.
"E-eeek!"
Arthur tried his best to struggle.
Despite his efforts, the whip remained still, tying him up.
Arthur was caught, but the other SS-Ranked invoked magic as if it were an opportunity.
I didn't think he had many options left because he knew that I was immune to heat, electricity, and cold.
So the spell he chose was–
[Acid cloud (Rank: S)!]
Tssss!
Acid started to spew out from his hand, but…
"No way!"
The green mist couldn't spread far.
Instead of liquefying continuously, it completely froze and dispersed in the air like snow sleet.
Of course, that wizard didn't use that magic in that situation because he was a dumbass.
Theoretically, the boiling point of the acidic substance produced by magic was minus 120 degrees, and the melting point was far lower than that.
"… Ah!"
Only then did he realize the problem.
He didn't expect that the temperature had dropped to that extent.
Due to the cold storm, the current temperature had fallen to a level that humans had never experienced before.
It had reached the point where the acidic mist froze even though it would've remained unaffected even in the coldest region of Earth.
Furthermore, Arthur's SS-Class [Cold Resistance] spell had been suspended due to the whip, so the wizard's protection was handled entirely by his own Mana Barrier.
"No!"
Only then did he notice that his Mana was rapidly being consumed while he was focused on the battle.
He took out a Mana potion from his arms in a hurry, but my spell was faster.
[Enhanced Gravity Field (Rank: SS)]
Shatter!
"H-huh?!"
The wizard, who was creating a flame in his hand to melt the frozen Mana potion, panicked when the bottle suddenly broke.
The material's durability couldn't hold out due to the glass bottle's density, which increased more than a thousand times due to the magic effect.
My magic didn't stop at just breaking a small bottle.
Riiip!
"A-Arrrgh!"
A strong force crushed the Mana barrier and drilled its way in all over his body.
"Keup!"
No matter how strong the SS-Class hunter's body was, it wouldn't have been able to withstand its weight that had been increased to more than 100 tons.
His body started to crumble because of its own mass.
Puhk!
Crush!
Soon, the figure of a human disappeared where the wizard once stood.
Instead, the entire body's bones were twisted, and the organs were crushed, leaving a flattened flesh on the ice.
The bitter cold quickly froze it.
"What the hell are–!"
Arthur's eyes, which were staring at me, were dyed with despair.
Usually, people would lose their minds due to the Mana exhaustion at that level, but he managed to hold on.
'If he's that strong-willed…'
I went up to him and put the handle of the devil's sword on his tied hands.
As I waited for a while, his face displayed shock and surprise.
"This voice is?!"
It's not the reaction I wanted.
As I took back the handle of the devil's sword and held it in my hands, the cognition in the sword spoke even before I asked the question.
'I can't do it on this man.'
The [Whisper of the Sword], which had a 50% success rate against hunters, failed.
"I got no choice then."
I pressed the edge of the sword against his neck.
Arthur began to shout as he struggled even harder.
"W-w-wait! Wait! Wait! Please!"
I looked down at the man struggling while he's tied up.
"Don't kill me! No! How I managed to survive until now–!"
It was greed that drove him there, after all.
Due to his vigilant nature, the moment he identified the environment there, he was more likely to give up chasing inside the dungeon and go back out of the gate.
That's why I purposely set up a fake [Vital Flame].
It was all to bring him to the perfect battlefield I had prepared.
The only thing that could beat Arthur Clifford's vigilance and carefulness was his greed.
"Wait for a moment!"
He panted and continued.
"I-if you kill me this way, the secret of the Matap guild will also be blown away!"
I ridiculously laughed and answered him.
"You mean the Shepherd 2 Dungeon?"
"Yes! People only know that there's something special about the dungeon that allows us to get our hands on an S-Class card easily. The 'exact location' and 'method' are known only to a few in the guild!
He started begging me for his life with that as his reason.
He must have thought I would fall for it, so he was also mixing up lies.
"If you spare me, I will supply you with all those cards from now on."
I tilted my head.
"I don't need S-Class magic cards, though?"
He must have already seen the scene where I demonstrated SS-Rank magic.
"N-no… If there is an SS-Rank or higher ranked card, then–!"
His eyes shone.
"Yeah! You surely know how to get your hands on even SSS-Class magic cards, right?!"
If it was resistance power that could overcome SS-Class electricity magic, there was only SSS-Class. That was a natural analogy.
Knowing that I couldn't 'copy' that from anywhere, Arthur seemed already convinced.
His eyes were bloodshot.
He spoke as if he didn't want to miss that opportunity.
"In Shepherd 2 Dungeon, there is a treasure that can upgrade all magic cards to the next level!"
He begged and cried out in a hoarse voice.
"If you ever get another SSS-Class card, imagine what it would be like to upgrade it through 'Shepherd 2 Dungeon!' You'll be able to get your hands on a level of magic that no one has ever experienced! I'll help you with that!"
He mentioned an EX-Class card that had never been revealed globally and had never been proven.
'That's a trap, considering that I would suck up all the information and leave him dying.'
At that moment, getting out of that position and saving his life was the priority.
I softly spoke.
"Oh, yeah? There is such a treasure in the Shepherd 2 Dungeon?"
"Yeah!"
"Not really."
"… ?!"
He made a face as if he couldn't comprehend.
"There was a treasure in there in the past."
I held my sword up again.
"There was, but there isn't anymore."
He looked blankly into my eyes.
And it seemed like he realized something.
How would I have known from the beginning? About the victims of the sacred beast trapped in the basement of the Matap headquarters.
His face, as he grasped the situation, became distorted like a demon.
He intuitively sensed that I had touched his treasure in Shepherd 2 Dungeon in one way or another.
He struggled crazily while still wrapped around with the whip.
"Y-you! That thing! No way… You bastaaaaaaaard!"
I fired the sword energy towards the shrieking man's throat.
Pshk!
Arthur Clifford's broken head soared into the sky amid the bitterly cold storm.
I retrieved the whip and threw the beheaded corpse far away as if I was spinning it in the air.
Arthur's body swirled around in the gust of wind like a pinwheel missed from hand.
Blood splattered like black and red ice crystals, spraying along the body's path before falling gently on the white ice and leaving a shiny trail.
"Now, then."
There's one that was waiting in front of the gate.
There were also four remaining members of the Matap Guild on their way towards the house.
I could finish the guy at the door off quickly, but it's the ones at home that left me a little concerned.
"There wouldn't be anything wrong if they did as I prepared them to…"
Those who were handling the four Matap members on the other side were only Nate and Hibiki.

Chapter 102
I Came Back And Conquered It All
Other Fight
A long time had passed after the end of the training.
Late at night, which was officially a break time, Hibiki spent her free time in the usual manner.
That meant that she was still focused on training.
Using [Multiple Cognition] that was almost always active from the moment she woke up until she went to bed, she assembled and disassembled Mana in various patterns in her body.
It was a training method that repeated the process until right before magic was invoked.
"Meow!"
At her feet, sitting on a chair and concentrating, an animal resembling a tuxedo cat approached her and rubbed its soft fur against her legs. It then gently wrapped her ankle with its long tail.
"Are you done eating?"
At the same time she drew the Mana signature of 3 kinds of spells, Hibiki extended her hand below and caressed the head of Iponia.
"Cat, do you want me to play with you?"
Iponia jumped onto the desk as if it felt her reaction was rather passive. It laid down with its stomach exposed and stared at Hibiki's face. It was a blatant demonstration.
Despite Seo Jin-Wook's effort to raise it ever since it was a baby, the first person it completely lowered its guard to was Hibiki.
Instead of Seo Jin-Wook, who often left the house, Hibiki took full care of it lately.
It was also her job to feed the card to it and manage the crystals it spat out.
"I don't think you're ever tired of it."
As the Mana pattern for the S-Rank [Fire Buster] spell was shaped and dissipated when it was about to be invoked, Hibiki shook the green foxtail-shaped toy with one hand.
Iponia stretched its front paws into the air as if to scratch it. It soon began to concentrate on playing.
'He said we had to raise it since there was a job waiting for it and that he didn't bring it here just to keep it as a pet.'
That time, while practicing the pattern of electric spells, she recalled what Seo Jin-Wook said.
'Can it be that he'll feed a card of a great rank that it cannot digest yet… To get its crystal?'
While Hibiki was curious in that manner…
"…!"
She sensed something which caused her expression to stiffen.
Other than training to form several spells in unison and playing with a dungeon creature named Cat even though it wasn't a cat– at that time, Hibiki was also doing another job.
That was because Seo Jin-Wook had also handed over control installed around the house.
With her senses connected to them, she monitored her surroundings as if she were watching the security cameras, and there were signs of abnormality.
"They're here!"
Nate knocked on the door as if he had been waiting when she urgently contacted him through her terminal.
When she opened the door, he had already changed into a combat uniform and was smiling with a calm face.
"You ready?"
He noded.
"Meooow."
Iponia cried as if to protest when she suddenly stopped playing with it.
Hibiki floated it in the air with her psychokinesis.
Seeing that, Nate stretched a shadow without saying a word.
Iponia must have felt ominous since it tried to run away with its four feet struggling in the air.
"Meoooooow!"
"I'm sorry, Cat. Stay inside for a while."
Hibiki, who tucked Iponia into Nate's shadow, turned her head again and made eye contact with him.
She was also waiting for that moment, having changed into the combat uniform.
"Did you get the scroll?"
"Of course!"
He took out the SSS-Rank [Wide-Rage Teleport] scroll given by Seo Jin-Wook and showed it to her. It was an item that had never been distributed to the Earthlings of that era.
With only a little Mana injected, it ripped away and teleported the two to their designated location.
For the Matap Guild, there was no way to de-spell SSS-Class magic, so it was like a lifeline in case of emergency.
'Can we do it properly?'
The two knew who they were going to face that day.
However, that was their first time to fight against the Awakened.
Seo Jin-Wook gave them advice while informing them of the plan.
'You can just use the scroll and run away in any case, but I think they're at a level that's low enough for you two to deal with.'
It didn't make sense, the fact that two S-Class hunters could handle four SS-Class hunters.
However, Seo Jin-Wook pointed out that Nate and Hibiki weren't any ordinary S-Class Awakened and that their equipped items were also of a different level.
'I'll finish my part as soon as I can and catch up, so don't worry too much.'
Recalling Seo Jin-Wook's reassuring words, Hibiki once again strengthened her will.
'I can't let him down.'
The two quickly moved out of their home.
It was a scheduled escape that began in due course so that the opponent could chase them with tracking magic.
*
Sometime after the two of them left, a series of intruders hid inside the house.
Arthur Clifford planned to kidnap even a close aide who might know his secrets if Seo Jin-Wook didn't talk or resistance was unbreakable.
It was natural that Nate and Hibiki were chosen as targets.
They were skilled people who blocked the A-Class break together, and they were close enough to live in the house altogether.
"Tsk, they've already noticed and ran."
Looking at the empty room, the Matap's hunter clicked his tongue.
The men in charge of the house were two swordsmen and two wizards.
The target they were aiming for had already disappeared.
"Is it possible to track them?"
"Wait for a moment."
A wizard recited a spell.
[Trail Seeker!]
He looked around with blue light lingering in his eyes.
"That's a relief. It hasn't been long since they left. They're traceable."
The wizard moved, staring at the traces of movement that were only visible to his eyes.
"This way."
*
The two quickly got out of their home on the back of a zombie with a Haste spell.
They sprinted with the wind on the ridge where the darkness took place.
It was also due to Seo Jin-Wook's instructions, who considered that civilians would be caught in the firefight if they started the battle in the residential area, but Nate would've done that even if he didn't ask him to.
'If we break Jin-Wook's house one more time, we might be kicked out of his house for real this time!'
It was a serious concern for him.
"… I think we're far enough from the city now. They followed right behind us!"
Hibiki, who was calculating the distance from the opponent with observation-type magic, gave a signal.
The Orcs, which were running while carrying them behind, stopped.
As they waited for a moment, the pursuers appeared.
"Haha! You must've given up now. That's a wise choice."
The Awakened of the Matap Guild quickly formed a siege.
At the same time, two swordsmen pulled out their swords and blocked the front.
Weing!
The two wizards that rose into the air with the [Levitation] spell flew slightly apart and blocked their escape routes.
They left an adequate distance that also served as a vantage point. Even if Nate and Hibiki escaped, they could track them right away, and they could bombard them with various spells as well.
'The frontline on the ground are the close-ranged fighters, and the rear is composed of wizards in the air.'
Hibiki simulated a plan in her head.
In the meantime, the swordsman urged their surrender in a calm voice.
"Seo Jin-Wook is not in Seoul right now."
"…"
"Do you understand? It means no one would be able to help. You two can't beat us."
He giggled and revealed his teeth.
"For the sake of both of us, don't be troublesome and waste energy. Just follow me. If you don't bother us, we'll take you both with your arms and legs still attached."
"…"
Nate and Hibiki simply stared quietly at them and didn't reply.
The swordsman assumed that the attitude was because they were tensed up from nervousness and fear.
'It's rumored that those two received an S-Rank because they were lucky. In the end, they are still rookies. It's been less than a year since they Awakened, after all. If I scare them moderately, it will be enough to convince them.'
But that prediction was wrong.
Swoosh!
As if to cover the two, numerous monster-type zombies were summoned.
"Rarrgh…!"
"Grrrrr…!"
The disgusting smell pierced the noses of the Awakened mixed in the night breeze.
The swordsman frowned because of displeasure and irritation.
The Rune Stone began to glow as the wizards in the air quietly prepared for captivity spells.
"You're bothering me."
He ground his teeth and threatened them.
"They say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. You both wouldn't die of shock even if I cut one of your arms off. Consider the hope of being dragged away in one piece as gone!"
Nate and Hibiki stood their ground as they waited for the right time while their enemies approached.
They didn't need to wait long either.
Weing!
At that moment, the swords held by the two swordsmen were coated with sword energy.
– Threats to the security target found!
Telepathy rang in his head.
Simultaneously, the expression of the being that only Nate could see on that spot quickly changed.
It was a being shaped like a woman, composed of blue Mana.
The Spirit, who had only observed the situation expressionlessly despite the very urgent situations, now glared at the Matap swordsmen with a hostile look.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Light flashed above the heads of the two.
As the flash disappeared, what was summoned was a magnificent metal structure floating in the air.
"Huh?"
What came to mind of the Matap guild members after seeing it was the large-calibered multi-round cannon.
It was an item that they saw for the first time, but it was not difficult to imagine how it would work.
Instead of panicking, they shifted to defense formation immediately.
[Conditional Barrier (Rank: S)]
[Aerial Shield (Rank: A)]
The two wizards each performed their own defensive magic.
A golden cloud cover enveloped one person's body.
In front of the other, the atmosphere swirled, and a cohesive shield was formed.
Whooooooo!
The two swordsmen on the ground also prepared for an attack by concentrating Mana throughout their bodies.
That was because hundreds of caliber openings aimed at them were likely to shoot fire and pour bullets at any moment.
But then…
"… ?!"
– Warning! Warning! No further access is allowed. It will respond with immediate firing in case of non-response…
They clicked their tongue inside.
'What a fool!'
Instead of attacking right away after summoning an item like that, he's only threatening them.
'That's why they're called rookies!'
Thanks to that, they were already perfectly in defense positions themselves.
It would be bearable even if it poured out attacks like that since it's a shield formed by the Mana output of an SS-Rank hunter.
'We must take him down first!'
Tat!
He kicked the ground, swallowing a laugh of ridicule inside.
When the sword's trajectory was heading beyond the undead to Nate–
"… ?!"
Hibiki activated a spell targeting the air.
The target was not the swordsman who rushed immediately.
It was the wizards in the air, hidden behind defensive magic.
[De-spell!]
Right after that, the two wizards became baffled by the sudden change of scenery.
"… Huh?"
It didn't take long for them to notice that they were falling.
Beyond the overturned vision, they wondered.
'How?'
They couldn't understand.
[De-spell] wasn't a ranged attack. Once triggered, there was only one spell that could be voided.
What they noticed while they were crashing, amid the scenery that was flowing like water, was the fact that the two wizards were falling at the same time, and the shield that protected them also disappeared.
That was two floating magic and two protective magic spells.
Four kinds of spells were nulled instantly.
That phenomenon was impossible unless someone recited and activated four de-spell spells at the same time.
At that moment, a strange concept passed through the minds of wizards.
'Multiple… recitation?'
They tried to recite the spell as a reflex, but their attempt was stopped as soon as telepathy penetrated their heads sharply.
– Fire!
As they were placed in a state where they were helplessly exposed to a beast, the two magicians fell.
Right about the moment when the swordsmen that wrapped their entire bodies with Mana Barrier rushed in–
Shhhh!
The zombies surrounding Nate and Hibiki disappeared instantly.
At the same time, when nothing but the air occupied the space, light exploded.
Pa-pa-pat!
Boo-boo-boo-boom!
The large-calibered multi-round cannon was aimed in both directions and started to fire.
The number of light bullets it shot in a second reached thousands of rounds.
The energy shells that struck their naked bodies literally ripped through and stirred up the wizards. The two crash-landers quickly disappeared amid a blizzard of light that poured in a straight line.
Boo-boo-boo-boom!
The swordsmen who were fully armed with the Mana armor, unaffected by the [De-spell], were better off.
However, it never meant that it was easy for them.
"Keeeup!"
The magic bullets that crashed on the thick shield shook his bones and crushed his muscles.
The trajectory of the attack towards Nate stopped. They simply couldn't move any further in the face of the bullet barrier.
They, who experienced the might of an item beyond common sense with their bodies, were horrified that their souls would escape their bodies.
'What… kind of ridiculous thing is that?! From where did they find that kind of weapon?!'
The freedom to hold such thoughts in their heads soon disappeared as well.
"K-Aaargh!"
In the middle of the storm of unforgiving bullets, each bullet struck them down with heavy shock.
The shooting continued until the item used up the fully charged Mana.
And finally…
"…"
Light bullets stopped firing.
At that moment, the telepathy rang in Nate's head.
– Warning! Warning! The Mana charged in this security system has been exhausted.
– Confirming the survival of the threat target. Emergency! Emergency!
– Asking for aid from other nearby beings through the collective intelligence network… No connection. Access denied!
– Continuous protection by this security system is not available at this time. The protected subject must immediately escape to a safe place and request protection from the Imperial Government!
The face of the Spirit, which was mostly expressionless and hostile, had become pale.
Its expression was as if the fire had fallen on its foot.
It was always like that when the charged Mana was depleted.
Nate calmly replied because he didn't experience it only once or twice.
"… It's okay. I'll take care of the rest."
– It's dangerous! Retreat!
The Spirit formed by blue light gradually turned blurry. It disappeared as if it was sucked into Nate's neck. It required sufficient time to recharge once activated.
The Spirit continued to send anxious telepathy to Nate even as it disappeared.
– … Danger!
– I must… protect… you…!
Paht!
After the Spirit completely disappeared into the neck tattoo, Nate looked at the tragedy that unfolded in front of him.
Hibiki, who was reeling from Mana exhaustion, managed to get herself together by chugging a potion down.
"… Indeed, it's incredible."
The direction of the wizard, in which bullets were poured into the sky, was rather decent. The two, who received the attack with their bare bodies, were evaporated to blood fog before their bodies fell to the ground, leaving no trace.
A devastated landscape unfolded along the poured bullets' trajectory in the direction that aimed for the targets on the ground.
Nate, who partially created a barren hill, noded, saying that it was a good thing he was as far away from home as possible.
"… Keee-!"
The two swordsmen, who were all battered up, were staring at them amid the smoke.
It was clear that they had spent a considerable amount of Mana to stop the bullet storm.
"You bastards!"
Instead of continuing to stare at them, Nate looked up.
At the same time–
Swoosh!
A strong wind, incomparable to that which took place while summoning the Orc zombies a while ago, blew.
"···?!"
The two swordsmen moved their eyes after Nate's gaze while filled with overwhelming anxiety.
In the direction they stared, there it was.
Deeper darkness covered the night sky in a pointed form.
It was a humongous floating body.
Krrrrrrrrr!
In the strange sense of twisted law of perspective, two survivors recalled their memories.
The reason why four SS-Class members had to be mobilized to catch two S-Class members in the first place was because of the contingency they wanted to be prepared for.
"… Dragon!"
Seo Jin-Wook was not the one who could control the dragon.
The two people belatedly realized that it was not a living dragon but an undead dragon.
But as mentioned, they were too late.
Crrrrrrrrr!
Its yellow eyes looked down on them.
The giant creature's mouth opened, reflecting a red flame blazing inside its sharp teeth on the swordsmen's retina.
Kwhaaaaaa!
A river of flame connected the sky and the ground.
That was the last scene that the two swordsmen saw before they died.
*
"Oh, really? That's great. I don't have to go that far, then. Well done."
I felt relieved as I ended the call with Hibiki.
The two seemed to have dealt with the invaders without any problems.
'Yes, considering their abilities and items, the odds were good.'
It was an expected result.
I turned my eyes to the body of an S-Class hunter rolling on the floor.
'Both of them are only called S-Rank, but they're different from this guy.'
He was sprawled next to the bluely lit Gate, a hole visible on his chest.
Boosh!
After burning him completely without a trace, I headed to the next destination.
'They must anxiously be waiting for the results right now, aren't they?'
That day's second destination was the Destructional Blade guild.
