Fire swept and licked at her ankles as she ran franticly through the jagged branches. they seemed to reach out to catch her. Her lungs hurt from the running and she could barely keep herself on her feet but she fought the urge to buckle down.
The sharp branches never seemed to end and the endless flames burned her skin with searing pain, but she wasn't running from them, but a dark furry figure that swept towards her. Alora couldn't keep her legs from failing her as she collapsed near a deep cliff, her body only inches away from the ledge, there seemed to be no way to go further.
The dark figure slithered its way from the flames, it's curved white teeth and snarling growls closed the gap between them. Its eyes ablaze burning even brighter than the flames that slowly grew bigger behind them. Its hand reached out securing around her neck. Its claws inched into her neck, the warm droplets of blood traveled down her neck from the penetrating claws. But behind the snarling teeth and flaming red eyes, there seemed to be something vaguely familiar. Aloras vision slowly started to sweep into black and the glowing light of the flames and burning eyes started to blur.
The creature lifted her over the edge holding her above the dark cavern below. She couldn't breathe, her bones seemed to nearly crack under its grip. She didn't want to die, she couldn't die, But before she could do anything she felt her chest crack open. The beast had shoved its giant claws through her chest, piercing her lungs. The blood drizzled from her lips like red ink and her breath had been stolen. Before her vision could leave her, the beast let go of her neck dropping her into the darkness that swallowed her like a black sea.
