The next thing Lora saw was when she flicked her eyes open. In the result of the sudden light hitting her, she felt dizzy and a headache stabbing in her head. But no sooner her sight cleared up, she met with a familiar ceiling. How could she forget this place. Its the very place where she spent almost a month of her time in.
Her hands were still weak and trembling. But she gathered enough to make herself sit down while her back leaned on the headboard of the bed. Her hands were all bandaged along with some of her upper body parts. She couldnt move enough to check but it was probably the place where she was stabbed.
Then her eyes shifted to the head sleeping beside her. Her heart flipped with joy at the sight of the girl. "Olive..." subconsciously, she reached out her hand and patted the girl. As far as she could remember, she was at the brink of death. With no hope of coming back or seeing her again. She lost all her hopes. Never thought she'll be brought here once again and be lucky enough to see this sight.
As Lora continued to stroke her hair, a smile made its way up to her face. She thought to herself, 'What a relief, There's someone out there who wants me to live.'
The sudden movements and the light stroking on the head made Olive jump up on her place. Most probably because the whole time she was expecting a miracle to happen and it did. She rubbed few times to get rid of her droopy eyes and finally, the sight of Lora took place in it. With the brightest smile flashing on her face, she jumped up on her feet and hugged her.
At first, it was fine. I mean, let the kid have her moment. She's been waiting for a long time to see her wake up. But then, the hug was too tight. Excuse me, its an injured person you're squeezing here.
Lora began to feel suffocated. She tapped on the other ones shoulder to let loose, "Hey...slow down." Olive came back to her senses and sets her free. But the relieved smile was still lingering on her face, "Oh my gosh!! Oh my gosh!! You're finally awake!! You cant imagine how much I cried when brother brought you in 'that' state. I thought I wont be able to see you again."
Lora stared at her with big doe eyes as she proceeds to explain what happened. At the end of the day, she had to give this hardworking girl a credit. She indeed put a lot of hard work in her treatment. If it wasnt for her, maybe her arms or neck would still be sore.
Just then, a deep voice cuts off Olive's words. She couldnt speak any further because of this certain man stopping her, "Leave her alone! She needs a lot of rest." Ren walked in with a dramatic entrance. At least thats what it looked like to Lora.
Olive shot a glare at the man, "Brother, I told you she'll wake up." Now someone was confused in the middle. Im sorry, did I miss something, was written all over Lora's face. She looked back at Ren and there she saw guilt apparent on his face. Maybe the given situation made him believe that Lora was dead. But now, seeing her all alive and lively wasnt an easy thing to understand. But she cant blame him now, can she?
Lora wasnt an ordinary person like them. She had the ability to heal herself. Now how the hell is she going to explain it to this people.
The next time she looked from Olive to Ren, their eyes met. He was avoiding her eyes the whole time. but now he had the sudden courage to face her. As they continued to stare at each other, Ren suddenly felt a tug at his heart. His heart was beating more and more faster as he stared at her dazzling eyes. But unfortunately, he was the first one who looked away. "We need to talk, leave." and again, he turned into the strict brother mode.
Olive whined at his sudden order, "It's not fair. I havent seen her for so long." figuring that the kid wasnt about to move any sooner, Ren had to shot a glare at her. A glare that made her scared of the consequences.
"Fine!" She left while stomping on her feet.
And now, It was only them in the room.
Ren's expression changed the moment he laid his eyes on the beauty. He stepped closer to the bed but still kept distance between them, "Are you feeling any better now?" his eyes were full of concern for her. As each words left his mouth, she couldnt help but realise something.
Realise that, Ren was nothing like how he showed himself to other. Cold and demanding? Oh please. He was the most softest man she ever met. He couldnt hide his emotions nor look away when he cares. Take this moment as an example, he was trying to be all careless and hard infront of his sister. But once she left, he didnt even try to hide the care he had for Lora.
The realisation itself was too funny for Lora. She burst out in a laugh infront of his face, leaving him all blank and confused. "What, Why are you laughing...?" he wondered if she lost any of her braincells in the accident which is now causing her to laugh without any reason.
Lora pulled herself together and patted the sit infront of her, inviting him to sit. It would be weird if they end up talking all night with him standing before her. "Dont worry, I feel better now."
Ren had to stare at her for a whole minute to figure out if she was lying or not. But turns out, he cant really tell the differences. So he gave up and brings out the topic which was a must to discuss at the moment, "How did you end up like that? Who stabbed you back there?"
Just by the urgency in his voice, Lora knew how important the answer was to him. He trusted that place to keep his lover safe. But if someone was stabbed in that very place, it was definitely his business to worry about. But still, deep inside she knew she wasnt ready to talk about it yet. "I dont think it's important anymore...."
Ren was about to explain why he asked, but he shuts himself down when he noticed the look on her face. She really doesn't want to talk about it, he thought to himself as he remained silent. Then the silence broke with her soft voice, "How did you find me...? As far as I remember, you escaped before me."
Ren looked into the window as he tried to remember the exact reason he came back. But honestly he didnt know himself....why did he come back? "Something weird happened....I dont know how to explain it..."
The word 'weird' meant a lot to Lora. Literally, everything that has been happening since the beginning was 'weird' for her. So for sure she knew that whatever Ren was going to say next, isnt going to be any less weirder than what happened.
Ren stuttered and struggled as he tried his best to speak up eachwords, "I just suddenly....felt like...I know it might sound crazy...But...I heard you calling for me. I followed your voice and found you. Back then, I was too confused to think about anything except for saving you." Ren crossed his finger and turned around to see her reaction. He expected her to look confused or ask questions. But it wasnt anywhere nesr what he thought. Instead, she looked like she figured something out of it and wont bother to ask any further than this.
Meanwhile, There was a mess of thoughts inside her head. No matter how much she tried, she couldnt connect the dots. The scene took place a lot futher away from the palace. It was in the edge of a cliff for goodness sake. There's no way her voice could reach him all the way out of the palace. Most importantly, she doesnt even remember herself screaming for help.
Back then, she had to make those guard believe that she was dead and get them out of that spot. So screaming for help was out of question. Then, how the hell did he follow that so-called her voice.
You know what, she gave up. Anything is possible at this point.
As her continues thinking brought pressure into her injured state, a stabbing pain crept its way into her head. She felt dizzy and lost all her strength. Causing her to fall back on the bed. Ren quickly catched her before anything could hurt, "You okay?" he kept asking as he laid her down on the bed.
"Yeah, Im fine..." she replied with a faint voice. Ren felt guilt hitting him. He told Olive to let her rest but he was the one who messed up her head with disturbing questions, "Take rest, we'll talk tomorrow..."
Once making sure she was comfortable, Ren stood up and walked to the door. He felt the urge to turn around one last time and he did. Only to be witnessing her sleeping soundly. He thought to himself, 'I dont want to lose you again.' he turned the light off and walked away.
Who was she kidding, sleeping? In this situation? nah, maybe heaven had other plans for her. Which was to make her stay awake the whole night and let her drown in the feelings of getting betrayed.
She stared out of the window which had the perfect view of the sky. At least, something was perfect in her life.
Everytime she closed her eyes, the picture of that man flashed infront of her. The pain of getting backstabbed had her crumbling in to pieces. Soon, there were tears flowing down her eyes.
She should've realised it sooner. He was pretending...the whole time.
