I had a location and a time, now it was just a waiting game. After waiting a few hours after sundown the next night, I left the apartment an hour and a half early. The destination was only about twenty minutes away with a human's walking speed. There was a nearby fast-food place that I decided to wait at. The time came and the parents were waiting in the exact spot we agreed upon. The man was holding a coat over the woman's shoulders as they waited out in the breezy night.
As I sat in the window and watched what they did they just stood there. The woman looked around every few moments but the man was still and calm. His pulse was steady as he occasionally looked at me in the window. He was feigning calmness for his wife, that I could tell.
As they waited fifteen minutes past the meeting time the woman finally looked up at the husband and said a few words I could not hear with the wind blowing around them. The man looked at me one last time before they turned to start leaving. With no longer than a breath's time, I was outside a few feet away from them.
"oh, you gave me quite a fright, young man. Excuse us." The woman said politely as she tried to move around me.
"Your boy?" I said quickly. This made the woman stop mid-stride. She turned to face me with tears in her eyes.
"You know what happened to our son?" The woman said wiping tears away with a tissue she pulled from her pocket.
"I do indeed. The same that is going to happen to you both." I said menacingly. The man stepped in between me and the woman as if to shield her.
"I knew you were bad news when I saw you in the restaurant. But since you are the one we came to see, my wife would not just leave without talking to you. Let her go and you can do whatever you want with me. She has nothing to do with whatever problem you had with him. He was an idiot sometimes but he did not deserve to die." The father said holding his hand out in front of his wife.
"Oh but he did. By his doing, now you do too. I am very bored and slaughtering his dearest family will entertain me for a bit at least. You don't have to worry, though, because you will be the first to die. I want to make sure your wife suffers before she dies. She is going to watch as I butcher you." I said with a sadistic smile. They were going to be great fun. I could already tell.
The woman started to open her mouth and scream but as soon as the first peep came out, I jabbed her throat with my fingers and severed her vocal chords. She still tried to scream but nothing came out. She just gasped for air as she tried to run away.
"PLEASE! LEAVE HER! YOU'VE DONE ENOUGH!" The old man screamed desperately. As he tried to intervene, I ripped his legs apart to drop him. He just lied there bleeding as I started walking towards his wife. As I continued having my way torturing the wife, the husband continued to scream. Before completely killing the woman, I made my way back to the husband.
"Now that she can't do anything but watch, let's have some fun, huh?" I said squatting next to him. With the utmost ease, I threw him into the air just over my head. When he was slammed into the ground, I could hear his bones cracking from the force of impact. But I made sure not to kill him from it. This was far from over.
The instant I took a step towards his wife, he stood back up even if broken but it was the intended effect. When he reached out to stop me, I elbowed down into his arm and shattered it at the bicep. One arm fell limp from it before I kicked him in the other arm and broke it as well. He could still scream while his wife couldn't.
There had long been sirens blaring rushing toward us but that phased me little as I continued having fun with the married couple. Just as I was going to slice through the husband's throat and kill him, someone scooped me up and slammed me into a building wall powerfully.
"Oh, you are quite the strong one, aren't you?" I said gasping for breath as my attacker held me by the throat. With all my strength, I kicked up into her jaw which caused her to back away a few inches and I used the chance to keep my feet going above me and jumped from the wall full momentum. I was bleeding still from the blood I coughed up.
"Who are you, stranger?" I asked wiping my arm across my mouth. She was a small woman but incredibly powerful. Even from the one slam, I could tell she rivaled me in strength in this form and I could tell she was not trying yet.
"Just someone who thinks you have had enough fun, quite frankly." the woman said putting her hands up ready for battle. She was a proficient fighter; her stance told me that.
"Are you sure you want to take this route? I will not hesitate to put you down if so." I said throwing my hands back as my claws came out. My mouth was practically watering at the thought of a decent one-on-one fight. None of the vampires, besides the princes, thus far could satisfy me but here was someone, something worthy of my time.
"Well let's get on with it then." I said as I put all fours on the ground and torpedoed toward her. She did not even move as she swiped one hand down on my head and changed my direction into the ground. Without skipping a beat, I put my hands down and swung my body around and back up toward her. With each claw, she slapped me incredibly hard and with each kick, she kneed me in the chest.
Each attack was pushing me past my breaking point. I'd be damned if I didn't kill her. The instant before she kneed me again, I put my hand in place to grab her knee but she spun and kneed me in the side this time.
"I'm gonna kill you, bitch." I snarled before she stepped in between my legs and gave me a palm to the chest that sent me sprawling across the ground. The palm made me spit a mouthful of blood onto the ground under me.
'Change. Now' The demon told me. But he still didn't come out for some reason. I am not sure whether he just did not find her worth the effort or if he was testing me but either way it seemed like I was on my own.
As I grew and all my hidden features came to light, she stood up and stretched her arms. In full form, there was almost no doubt I could kill her in my mind.
"Oh, finally going to make me get serious are we?" The woman asked.
"You will pay for mocking us." The demon said with me. Slowly stepping in with a lightning quick combination of punches, the woman dodged the first but mistimed the second and was subsequently caught with the third full force. It sent her into the wall as she let out a heavy breath.
"Guess I can't be reckless anymore." The woman said popping down from her place in the wall. With every attack, she got sharper, faster. As we continued our dual, she was only getting stronger. Even among the Moonwalkers, there was none who could overpower me to this degree. A strong kick sent her sliding back before I could focus inside.
The demon had materialized in my head as he watched the fight. 'She is quite the interesting one isn't she?' it asked with its hand under what I presumed its chin. I was so worked up I couldn't gather my thoughts enough to answer. She was breaking me. No matter how much strength I put into each punch was ineffective.
'Very well then. I will take over.' The demon said as his form scattered and he came to the surface. He had a grin as he looked at the woman.
"Congratulations. You have unlocked level 2. Unfortunately this level is for the experts only. But before I kill you, tell me your name, stranger." The demon asked walking a circle around the opponent.
"Why does my name concern you, pebble?" She said glaring at us. She was suspicious but she was grossly overestimating the difference in power between us in her favor.
"You are very beautiful and I would like to know the name of the person I will have to grieve for once this night concludes." The demon said still walking without looking up from the ground in front of us. He was incredibly calm and composed as he spoke.
"You are going to..." She started before the demon smacked her away. Before I could even conceive what happened we were on her with a ferocious smack to the mouth. She came to a rolling stop inside the coffee shop she hit the wall of.
"Just tell me your name. I will kill you next time." The demon said now standing still but still looking at the ground. We hadn't even looked up when we hit her. Her once powerful defense was useless now. It was like hitting a sheet of paper.
"It's Nani." The girl started as she got to her knees and wiped the blood from her mouth. It was beginning to dawn on her the difference in power between us. I was a mere ant compared to the demon and she sensed the change.
"Good choice. Now I can kill you and mourn for you. If only you had chosen the right side instead of standing against me. You will die and the couple from before will die as well." The demon said throwing a kick down into the top of her head. The pressure of her bones cracking in her neck was disgusting.
Someone else tried to intervene but with a spin and kick in the air, we stopped the attacker. The smell told us it was a Moonwalker this time. I still could not figure out what the girl was. She smelled of Moonwalker but also of human like a hybrid of some kind but the transformation from human to mutt wasn't something that could just be paused midway through to my knowledge.
"Can't you see we were having a conversation?" The demon said angrily kicking away the body of the Moonwalker who tried to get in the middle of us. He was long dead as his body rolled to a stop. Every bone in his face and snout was shattered beyond recognition from the kick. A surge of anger came flowing through my brain as the Moonwalker wiped our shoe on the carpet in front of the door.
"Now where were we..." The demon started before snapping and remembering. With a slow walk, we got on top of the girl and held her up by her neck in one hand. She gasped for breath as we held her but she was powerless as she was already quite injured from the first slap let alone the kick.
"Hm, I have changed my mind actually. You could prove to be quite entertaining in the future if I leave you to be. Find me again soon if you want to conclude this battle. But the old folks die tonight." The demon said dropping the girl and going to kill the parents. Each had their neck snapped quickly and painlessly before I was back in control.
'Take us back to the base.' The demon said back in my head surfing through my thoughts. We took our leave just before the police came to a screeching stop in the middle of the street witnessing all the damage we had done in the few minutes between the pair screaming and us leaving.
