'Now, onto the next important task.' I thought as I turned and walked toward Odesza. He was still in very bad shape but he seemed to be able to be conscious long enough to hold a decent conversation.
"Odesza, we need to talk." I said from the foot of his bed. He tried to feign sleep but I could tell from his quick breathing that he was awake.
"Now." The voice said angrily. This made Odesza snap his eyes open in panic. We had a hard conversation ahead so I needed him at attention.
"Good. Now we can talk. As you just saw, I seem to have another...entity in me. I do not know where he came from or what he is but he is strong, as you have seen. We seem to have split my body since I was turned into a vampire so he does not try any hostile takeovers or anything as it is still my body. We have a cordial agreement." I began to explain. Odesza listened to my words but I could see he was sizing me up the whole time making sure I had no hostile appearance towards him.
"That is all he needs to know." The voice said from inside me. He was not keen on letting anyone know of our agreement or any of our talks.
"He needs to know the whole deal if we are to have any chance at taking over this base. He could be a very powerful asset." I told the voice inside. It looked from the outside like I was frozen as I had this conversation because I did not have time to properly meditate.
"That is not a good idea. They will try to free you from me. It is what they did in my past body. They will separate us which will not be good for you or I. Death for you and centuries of feeling empty for I." The demon said seriously. He left me to mull that over for quite some time.
"When did you first notice him?" Odesza asked after a few moments of silence. I had to tip toe around the rest of this conversation. I could not risk losing this power before I accomplished my goals. That was not a risk I was willing to take.
"He just popped up last night. I have not heard anything else from him nor has he tried to take over. I am not really sure what he even is. I would like to know but I do not as of now." I lied.
"You are pushing it." The demon said before going back into the darkness.
"That is very interesting. I am surprised he has not tried to take over your body yet. He is obviously stronger than you are. I do not see what is stopping him."
"I do not know." I lied. If he knew anymore, it made me shudder thinking of what he would do with the information. He was too valuable to put down so it was a risky proposition.
"Well, we will have to figure out the specifics of it, then." Odesza said thinking about it carefully. I turned to walk out but as I began moving, I was stopped.
"If you tell anyone anything of what we have spoken, I will not hesitate to kill you, gruesomely. You will remember the pain in your next 3 lives. Do not double cross me." The demon warned. Odesza shook his head obediently but I could see in his eyes, his intentions were not pure.
We left the room to go visit the bar hand. The tournament was right around the corner and if anyone had intel on all the fighters, it would be him.
When I walked in, he was not working. There was a female behind the bar. I had seen her a few times before but she was never the main one back there. All the times I had been in the bar or walked by, it was always the same guy there.
"Where is the other one?" I asked the woman behind the counter.
"He is off. There were some important things he needed to attend to." The woman said without looking as she shined some glasses. I took note of her disinterest.
"Oh, and who might you be?" I asked shortly. She noticed my change in tone as she walked over to stand just in front of me and put her hands on the counter.
"I am a trainee. The name is Elaina." She said pointedly. It seemed she responded to a more firm treatment.
"Oh? Well I have lost interest in this conversation. Bye bye now." I said as I got up to leave.
"Wait. Come sit back down. I will give you a drink on the house." She said. I sat back down and spun towards her.
"That is more like it. Now, back to the conversation. I thought humans were not allowed to leave this place. Where did he go?" I asked interested.
"Well, normally we are not. But from what I understand, he made sure the princes knew before he came here that he has a sick mother who he would occasionally have to go take care of. That was his price for coming: the vampires taking care of his family." Elaina said back. It was an odd explanation as it contradicted everything I heard from the feeding girls.
"Hm, that is odd. The princes just let him come and go as he so pleases?" I asked in disbelief.
"More or less. The only thing they have arranged is he has to be back within 48 hours of leaving or the higher ranking vampires will come for him and kill his family on the way. But they are to take care of his mother in his absence as well." The woman said.
"Interesting, indeed. Well he will be back, I am sure. This was the worst possible time for him to need to go, though. I needed to speak with him like now. Two days is too long. The information will not serve me any purpose by then." I said thinking carefully about who else I could ask.
"What do you need? Maybe I can help." Elaina said back pleasingly. I doubted she could serve any purpose in this at all but it would not hurt to try.
"Well, I needed information on some of the fighters in the tournament two days from now." I said back without looking up at her. As confident as I was in my own abilities, information was the most powerful resource in a battle.
"Oh, the new breed tournament, if I remember correctly. Come back just before dawn and I will tell you everything I know." Elaina whispered in my ear. The sound of her voice in my ear sent a shiver down my body. Her voice was very seductive.
"Oh? I will consider it then." I said before finishing up my drink and taking my leave. It was just after midnight which meant I had some time before the sun started to come up.
After carefully planning my time table, I took off from the base to go hunt some humans. It was semi chilly so it was prime elk season in the woods. I could certainly find some humans.
"It was not the right plan to tell him as much as you did." The demon said in my head. He was bound to bring this up so I was not surprised.
"There was no choice. If I did not tell him something, they would think I am a monster in the base. They might even have tried to kill me. As you said, we cannot handle them as for now, we must take precautions as to not encourage them." I said back thinking how we could not afford to screw up on that grand of a scale.
After a few moments of silence he said, "You are correct. That was a good decision. It seems this partnership could go very far."
"Thank you." I said not noticing how much ground we had covered during our conversation. I was eye to eye with one of the humans I was supposed to be hunting.
"Where the hell did you come from?" The man asked with a thick country accent. He was on guard as I must have walked up to him very quickly and very quietly.
"From your nightmares." I said sadistically. The man tried to raise his gun but before he could even get it waist level, I had my hand on it taking it from him. As a human, he was far weaker than I was so having my way with him took no effort whatsoever.
"Go...get...help..." The man choked out as I squeezed the air from his throat. He was dangling just out of reach of the ground. I could hear anxious breathing and tears from the kid he was with. I had not noticed the kid before as the other one had my full attention. Even as strong as I was, I did not care to test my durability against a rifle.
"You would be smart to stay and wait for death. I would hate to have to make you suffer for your disobedience." I told the kid without looking at him. He was paralyzed with fear seeing me holding the human with no wasted effort. The man was much larger than I was, probably forty kilograms more, maybe a few extra. I had a rather small frame so seeing this display of strength was unreal for the child.
"Go...son..." The man gasped. The kid pulled his gun up then before taking a shot. His hands were so unsteady, the bullet whizzed past my head. I tightened my grip and killed the man before dropping his lifeless body to the ground.
"Oh? You are quite the brave one, aren't you?" I said intrigued at the child. He was fully crying by then. He had to reload after that shot so I slowly walked towards him as he struggled to load a bullet. Just as he got it ready and pulled the gun up, I shot around behind him faster than he could follow.
"Where did he go?" The kid asked fearfully.
I whispered in his ear, "I am right here. It was not very nice of you to take two shots at me."
He dropped the gun and dropped to his knees before totally giving up. He was a smart kid so he knew he could not beat me. I was hoping he would at least give it a shot.
"Wake up to reality. Nothing ever goes as planned in this accursed world. The longer you live, the more you realize the only things that exist in this world are pain, suffering, and futility." I said before kicking him in the back. It was not to kill him but to make sure he would never walk again. Humans were a painfully weak species. I wanted to make him suffer in the worst way possible. Seeing his father choked and knowing he could do nothing to stop it or even walk ever again was the best way to do so.
I kept on my path towards the scent of the next group. This time the objective was food so I had to pay attention and not walk right into them. After another half hour of walking, I heard them a few dozen meters away. I was more than far enough for them not to hear me but I could smell their blood in the air.
A shot rang out as I jumped into the trees. They had rifles as well. I stopped just a few meters short of them. There were five of them in this group; four males and one female. One of the ones sitting and waiting was smoking a cigarette.
"How did you miss? He was a big one." The man called out laughing to the one who had just fired his weapon.
"Oh shut up, Caesar. It was just a mistake." The shooter said back. The group kept on laughing as the man stood up.
"I have to go take a leak. I will be back." The man said next before laying his rifle against a tree and walking away from the group.
This was the perfect chance to feed from one of them. I followed from the trees as he walked about fifty meters away from the group. He was still within distance that they would hear if he screamed so I had to do this quickly and cleanly.
When he dropped his pants, I jumped down behind him. He began to turn but before he could, I grabbed him by the collar and hip-tossed him over me. He was unconscious the instant he hit the ground. I took my fill from him before leaving his body sitting on the tree. I let out a yell to attract his friends.
Footsteps came barreling towards us as I jumped back into the tree. The woman was the first to see his body. She screamed and the others got on guard when they saw him.
"Nat, what the fuck happened? You just went to use the bathroom." The Caesar man said from his knees just in front of the body.
"These injuries are too clean for an animal. Someone hunted him. On your guard, everyone." Another of the group called to them. Everyone got back to back before raising their guns on all sides to eliminate any openings.
I swung around the tree branch and jumped when I was facing their direction. Before they could react, I was on the ground in front of them. I landed in front of the woman first. She did not even realize what happened before I had swept her legs out and kicked her away.
"Noelle!" One of them called out. They all turned towards me but I managed to get one before they could. I elbowed him in the chest and sent him flying into a tree. He was dead on impact. The other two shot at me but the demon inside was calculating where they would shoot and had moved me before they could. Their bullets missed by inches but it was enough to attack while they rechambered another.
With a brutal claw, I ripped the left arm from one. He fell to the ground bleeding and screaming for help. As he laid there bleeding, I fed from the last hunter watching as the man squirmed in pain.
In between gulps I told him, "Beg me for the release of death." He was in intense pain but refused to give me the satisfaction.
"I will never beg a demon like you. You are not worth it." He said defiantly. Hearing those words was enough to royally piss me off. I clawed through his other arm in return. He screamed more now having lost both appendages.
"Beg, human." I angrily said. He rolled over onto his stomach as he slowly crawled away.
"Please, just leave me alone. I have a family. I will do whatever you want." The man cried. It was music to my ears hearing him beg.
"Do not say anything you do not mean. The only thing that awaits you is hell. Your family will join you soon enough. I can smell their traces on you." I said sadistically before I ripped my hand into his heart.
After I finished eating, I started to head back to the base. There was no use in hiding the bodies. No one knew the location of the base and the humans would be powerless against us anyway. After a few minutes of sprinting towards the base, I was at the mountain.
"Jump us." I said to the demon. He took control and did as I asked before giving me my body back.
"Thank you." I said before walking inside and going back to the bar. It was not quite dawn but I was fine with waiting a little.
The woman waved at me excitedly as I walked up to the bar for a seat. She continued serving the drinks she was making before walking over to me.
"Give me just a little while and we can go. Everyone here has been served so they will not care if I leave early." Elaina said as she cleaned some things behind the counter.
I stood up to make an announcement, "Everyone, finish drinking now and get out." I was met with a barrage of stares and a few chuckles.
"Check this guy out. Who is he?" One of the other vampires said laughing and pointing at me. This elicited a roar of laughs. When I transformed, it went deathly quiet in the bar.
"You want to try saying that again?" I said challengingly to the man. He was quiet as he gulped down his drink. Everyone else did the same and paid their tabs making sure to avoid getting near me.
"There you go. Now we can leave." I said to Elaina before getting out of my seat. She wiped down the counter and walked from behind the bar.
The woman was somewhat tall with long legs and a slender frame. She had waist length black hair and wore a partially unbuttoned shirt. I could not see her before because she had her hair tied up and wore an apron. She guided me to her room in another sector of the base from the vampire rooms.
The door was closed and locked behind us as we entered. Her room was very big with tasteful décor around. There were a few paintings on the walls in different places along with a rug that covered about half her floor. I went to sit on the bed to wait as she unbuttoned her shirt and took her pants off.
Seeing her without the extra clothes made me realize just how well she was built. It was like looking at a sculpture. She sat in my lap and pushed me back onto the bed.
