I woke up the next night just as angry as before. When I jumped up, Kristine was waiting around in the room but as soon as I saw her, I took off. I could not even calm myself down enough to talk to her. She had a disheartened look as I walked off towards the feeding chamber to grab a bite before leaving the base. With the pent up aggression I had, I needed to kill something and I thought it best not to do it inside the base. The feeding chambers were as calm as usual on the outside and I did not want to take the chance of investigating and being caught. As soon as I finished, I took off towards the entrance. Usually, I would have to scale the cliff face to get down but this time, I just jumped down.
'If I hurt myself, it is what it is.' I thought to myself on the way down. There was a small bounce when I hit the ground but no noticeable damage or pain. It was a near 500 foot fall so I was expecting to sprain my ankle or something but there was no injury at all. I ran into the city at full steam to find someone to hunt. Without the connections Diach had, I could not find Moonwalkers so I would have to hunt humans. This was a big party city, though, with quite a few universities and events so I could find someone. As I walked down the street, I heard two humans talking.
"You ready for Radii's party? It is gonna be crazy." One of the humans said to the other. They looked to be about university age so I had to assume it was a dorm party of some kind.
"Hell yeah, man. Radii always throws great parties. I am just glad we got invited this time. The perks of being one of the popular kids." The other human said back with a laugh. The two people did look somewhat nerdy as I could already guess why they got invited to the party. Whatever the reason, they would not be alive in the morning so it did not matter. I followed from a distance as they walked through the city to the dorm building for one of the universities. The building was four stories high with long hallways through each floor. Just from the outside, I could hear the party going on inside. It sounded like it was on each floor with some of the lower floors going to the higher floors and vice versa.
Since I was not a student of the university, I had to think of something else to get in. Then it clicked. The university had invited me for a tour to recruit me after high school for their lacrosse team. They were one of the best in the nation and were vying for me since I was the star of the best team in the region, arguably the city. I walked to the entrance to the building and was greeted by one of the lacrosse team players.
"Name?" The man asked eyeing me over.
"Skytel. You guys wanted to recruit me a few months ago during the season for when I start university next year." I said recalling what they said during my tour. The man recognized me then and stepped to the side so I could go in.
"You are not technically a student yet so I should not let you in but we will keep it a secret between you and me. Sound good?" The man asked as he had his arm over my shoulder walking me to the elevator. When we got up to the top floor, all the lacrosse players welcomed me like one of their own. We partied on until late in the night around 2 am. The sun would be coming up in a few hours since it was the middle of spring. I had to feign drinking since my stomach could not handle it.
As I took a drink into my mouth, I moved it around to under my tongue and held it for a few moments before grabbing another cup and spitting it back in there. After passing it to the next person, I got through the night using this strategy. Just before everyone started leaving, I called out to make an announcment.
"Well all, it has been fun. It is obvious none of you watch the news because if you did, you would see I am now a wanted man." I started before one of the frat boys interrupted me. He had a habit of doing that all night. The man would not be missed when I slaughtered them all.
"Hell yeah man, we want you for the team!" The man called out before a roar of applause and cheers came out. I had a visible face of frustration upon being interrupted again. After taking a few breaths to calm myself, I continued talking.
"As I was saying, I am a wanted man by the police. One of my old school mates and I got into a pretty big fight and some stuff happened and now I am no longer human. I am better." I said as my claws and fangs grew. The party goers watching me change looked on with confusion before I grabbed someone by the neck, raised him to me, and bit down into his neck. The panic set in then and everyone was screaming and running around trying to get out. That thought had already crossed my mind and I had bent the locks on the doors to make sure none of the hallway doors opened and everyone on each of the floors was trapped there. They were not smart enough to break the windows so it became a bloodbath.
I did not waste the time feeding from everyone but was just slitting throats and ripping bodies apart as I worked through the crowd. When I got down to the first floor, I heard sirens coming towards the building. I had to work fast to get through the rest before the police got inside. They always had one of the rams in their cars so the broken locks would not be much of a factor for them. As everyone ran away from me in panic, I transformed fully to quicken my pace. It was like ripping paper getting through their bodies. If I was going to deal with police I had to feed. More bodies were sprawled across the ground as I kept thinking the best course of action. When the last three college students were left, I grabbed the first two in turn and took big gulps of their blood but the last avoided me just long enough for the police to arrive.
"Open up!" A voice called from outside the front door. Then the last woman screamed as loud as she could to alert the police.
"Big mistake." I said looking angrily at her. More police came rushing towards the door with the ram this time. They banged on the door but stopped in shock when they saw me drinking from the woman's limp body. The police were frozen in fear watching me drink blood from a woman's dead body. One of them was still in full control of himself as he saw me. He smelled different from the others as well.
"I will handle this." The one said unbuttoning his shirt and getting down on all fours. Fur grew all over his body before his snout lengthened and his claws came out. The Moonwalker howled at me before lunging forward. He was just a regular Moonwalker so he was not much of an issue. His over confidence proved to be the end of him. The other police were still frozen as they watched me make quick work of their comrade. The others were just regular humans so I had to assume they did not know what he truly was. Their hands were shaking over their guns as I walked towards their group.
"If you leave now, you survive. Your bullets will do nothing against me. I give you the choice, stay and die or leave and survive." I said watching their next moves. They took out their guns ready to fire so I executed each of them more brutally than the last. Even given the choice to preserve their own lives, they chose to try to gun me down. They were truly a selfish lot. More sirens were flying towards us but I did not want to stay and chance them bringing something stronger. There was not enough time to fight a whole city worth of cops. I watched the next set of police from the rooftop above. The police chief was talking into his radio looking at his dead comrades.
"They were all killed. It looks like the dorm is full of dead bodies as well. Who could have done this? Who could have killed all these people in such a short time?" The man said into his radio. One of the others with him happened to look up and see me before drawing his gun.
"Up above!" He called out in panic. I still had my wings and fangs which made the chief think carefully about the next course of action. He grabbed the policeman's hand and lowered his weapon.
"Just let him go. He killed a whole squadron of police and a dorm full of college students. We would not stand a chance." The older man said. I watched him in interest before disappearing on the roof tops. He was a thoughtful man who valued his life more than his job. But he had seen my face so he would have to die sooner rather than later. As I jumped along the buildings, someone caught up with me.
"That was not a good decision." Diach said next to me. He must have been watching the whole time from the dorm building to the police.
"What of it? I needed to let out some anger and the police were just in the wrong place at the wrong time." I said back without looking at him. He took a moment before he spoke next.
"The police chief only let you go because I made a suggestion after he sent out the first group. There are many more police than you can handle on your own in this city and as you saw some of them are Moonwalkers. They do not know this but the vampires do." Diach replied. He was why the cop chose to make his colleague lower his gun. Diach was not a big man but he was very convincing when he wanted to be. I learned that first hand. We went back to the base before it got too late and split up when we got back. I went back to my room making sure not to look at Kristine as I passed her in one of the corridors. Aly put a hand on her shoulder as I walked past silently.
"He is just mad. Give him a few days and he will be back to normal." I heard Diach tell Aly and Kristine as I made my way back to my room. The princes summoned me for the next night as soon as the sun went down. News traveled very fast in the base so they must have heard about my little excursion already. We had televisions in the bar so I guessed someone saw the news and told the princes what they saw of the dorm slaughter. Considering I was the only one who left the base if not on missions, it must have been me who caused it. The princes kept very close tabs on me since I was the only new breed among the vampires.
