As Raphael passed the portal to step into his very messy clothes strewn apartment he checked to see if no one had broken into the building just to be careful. Because when you're the multiverses only natural traveler people will want to get their hands on you. Raphael went to his bedroom and set his dry cleaning down on the bed. As soon as he'd done that he immediately heard a knock on the door.
"Seriously" he sighed "I JUST got home, they can't give me five minutes to relax." Raph slumped his shoulders in defeat as the unknown person kept knocking, now insistingly.
"Fine! I'm coming, hold your horses!" He shouted impatiently. He portaled to the door and undid the chain and unlocked it. That revealed a slightly short woman carrying a large brief case. "Yes?" Raph asked with his eyebrow raised. "Is there a reason a complete stranger is banging on my door at..." he glances down to check his watch "5 in the evening on a Saturday evening" he said irritated.
The lady appears unaffected by his irritated attitude, and sticks out a hand with a card on it. "My name is Lois Connor and I have a proposition for you." She says, swiftly putting the card into his jacket pocket amazingly fast. He wouldn't have felt or known it was there if he wasn't hyper aware of everything around him due his connectivity to the multiverse and more. "And why should I agree to any proposal a strange woman on Saturday evening gives me?" He starts to shut the door "I'm tired. goodnight, you can see yourself out correct?"
Lois quickly jammed her heel in the door before it could go further. "What if I told you that the organization I work for knows that you are much older and more powerful than you appear, Traveler." His expression turns cold and his eyes become an icier shade of blue, the glamour over his eyes wavering slightly. "Who are you and why are you after me, human? He asked. Letting his magic radiate off of him.
She still appears unaffected by his obvious intimidation attempt. Lois points to the pocket of his jacket where the card sat. "My company's name is there under my name" he reached in and pulled out the card and looked under her name. "New Heights Corp.?" Raphael said aloud "what exactly does this company do that justifies a name like this?" He asked.
Lois shifted slightly "we do numerous things for people's of varying species and cultures. From vampires to fairies and werewolves and the like." She paused to look at him inquisitively "We help those in need, we give vampires blood bags so they don't go on killing sprees, exposing us and them in the process. We help werewolves by sheltering them on full moons and we help fairies by making sure they're not forgotten and don't fade away." She looked proud as she said this with a big smile on her face.
"And what's your job?" He asked with an unimpressed look.
"I'm an agent" she responded "I scout around and look for suitable both supernatural and normal people to hire as employees."
"So that's why you're standing at my door?" He asked. "To give me a job?"
"That" she said "And to warn you that you're in danger." When he gave her an impatient expression to continue she said. "While you've managed to remain incognito for most of human history, rumours of teleporting man who never seems to age has quietly spread across the darknet and government information channels as well as other supernatural clans who want you either on their side or want your power."
"You're point?" He asked, "people have been after me before and none have succeeded before so why should I be worried now?" Raphael waited for a response, crossing his arms in front of him.
Lois sighed "if you want me to explain then we should move inside away from stray eyes and prying ears." She said looking around the hallway.
