My senses are not very keen in crowded places but the lobby was empty yet I didn't hear him at all.
" I have been standing behind the both of you for a long time "[Ashley]
Well, I was a bit surprised but not as much as Lila.
Her face became red from blushing. He became silent after saying that. I wondered how much he must have heard from our conversations.
He is Larry's cousin Afterall. But I couldn't possibly ask him that in this awkward situation.
He usually does not bother about others' business. He only responds when others speak to him. A silent type indeed. So, I guess it might be fine.
But from the past few days, I have observed him looking at Lila when she is not aware of it.
He chuckles to himself as if he is remembering something from time to time. This started after the interschool spring festival which was held the previous month. That's very much unlike him.
Initially, I thought it was just me and maybe I was misunderstanding something. But later it became too obvious.
He is the most rational person in our group. We all feel that he must have inherited it from his dad. He also smiles a lot often lately. He normally does not smile or laugh without a reason.
That's why I suspect something must have happened between them. I am so curious about this. But I don't want to make them feel more uncomfortable around each other than now. So, I chose to keep silent.
Ding. We reached the 14th floor. The lift door opened.
Ashley went out of the lift first. Lila was looking at him as he went forward. She seems to be distracted lately.
"Lila, let's go!" [Tiara]
She nodded her head sideways and came back to her senses. I sighed.
We walked towards my apartment.
" Would you like to have dinner at my place tonight, Ashley?" [Tiara]
Shit. What did I just say?
I had gotten so used to inviting him whenever I bump into him that I forgot to ask Lila whether she was okay with that or not. I bit my tongue. He froze and so did Lila.
There was silence again. No matter how many times this happens, I just can't get used to this awkward silence.
He turned around and looked at Lila. Lila looked at him intently as if she was thinking how to respond to him. It was as if they were communicating with their eyes. She blushed and smiled at him.
"Can you prepare some burgundy for me? The one you prepared last time. It was delicious!" [Lila]
That was totally unexpected judging from their awkwardness from before. My head can't take further thinking anymore.
It was as if their awkwardness had not just disappeared but it completely transformed into warmth.
I don't understand them at all. What is going on here? The atmosphere changed as soon as Lila said that. The atmosphere became quite warm.
And they both started smiling at each other.
I imagined cherry blossoms showering on them while they were at it.
Damn, my vast imagination. 'What's wrong with me now?' I shook my head sideways lightly and got back to reality by trying to control my imagination.
My face was showing ' I don't know what is going on between these two' kind of blank expression.
Somehow, I felt like I was being the third wheel here. It was so silly that I thought they were uncomfortable around each other, just a moment ago.
I could not control myself when I was seeing their expressions. They looked so silly. I chuckled.
