Before it all happened, everything was dark, I lived in my own mind closed from the outside world hoping this would set me free from the pain, suffering and tragedies that happen in reality. Everyday was a routine; like a never-ending cycle to nowhere. I would open my eyes of a morning and see nothing but dark, light of dimness and skies of grey, pulling me towards the same unfulfilling life I lived. It didn't make sense! Why was I living like this? Why couldn't I change myself? Why did my life feel so cold? These where the questions I thought but never answered.
It was early autumn when I saw him for the first time; the trees had not yet changed their leaves. While I was working in the office , he walked through with the refreshments for my colleagues. I sat there silent. He gave me a look as if to mock me. I turned away, with the picture of his smile still in my mind. A smile suited him, even if it was a mocking-like smile. His tall, slim structure. His long black hair that waved past his ears. His deep, blue eyes like the vast ocean, making me feel like I was being drawn in. In my eyes, he was perfect.
As he left the room, I turned back. That was my first encounter of the man named Drake Williams.
