Chapter 2 - Chapter 0: The Beginning

Britain, 2027.

The weather is clear, nothing unusual. The people and the animals are coexisting peacefully as usual. I observed them through the window of my room.

"Young master, it's time."

I heard our servants said.

"Let's go."

I followed them down the staircase where my father is waiting.

"Perfect, you're good to go now, Don?", he asked me.

"Yes, father.", I answered.

My father is very strict to me. He never let me step a foot outside unless I'm going to school. He always scold me each and every time I try to get out.

My father scanned me with his eyes from head to toe.

"You look perfect, my heir", he said.

"I'll take that compliment, father", I replied.

"Let's go. It's about time I pass you the ultimate treasure of our family", my father said before leaving the house and entering the car.

Our butlers assisted me as I follow my father. I entered the car from the back seat.

"Now, I will bring you to our ancestral house. The House of Ulexius. The house who contains the greatest to treasure to get our strongest weapons", my father proudly said.

"Weapons?", I asked out of curiosity.

"Yes. Someone will explain to you when we get there", he answered.

It was about half an hour until we arrived to the place. I don't know where exactly we are since I'm not knowledgeable of the outside world.

"Come, my child," he said, "Let me show you. Our greatest treasure."

He shown me a glass cage where a piece of paper is inside.

"What is that?", I asked.

"A page from the legendary epic from the Babylonia," a man behind me said, "one of the last remaining pieces of his story."

"Of whom?", I asked him "Also, who are you?"

"Ahh. Pardon me, young master. I was the one housekeeping this place for a long while. I am Linore Arves, but you can call me 'Old Arvi' and I won't mind," he said with a smile in his face, "By the way, the story I've just told you is about the King of Heroes, Gilgamesh. He is the strongest weapon this family have."

"Enough talk, Arvi," my father shut him up, "Listen Don. You must keep this and win the war with the weapon it will give you."

"I am going in a war?", I questioned him.

"Yes. It was waited by our family for 120 years," he said, "Don't you dare disappoint our family name."

Yes. I remember it now. My mother used to say it to me before when she was still alive.

"When you grow up, you will be forced to join a war. Of course that won't be easy, but remember, Mother will always be here for you, Don."

Those are her words before she passed away. She also gave me a bracelet as a charm as she said it will me from harm in the future.

"I will leave now. Arvi, teach him what he must learn about this war." he said to Old Arvi before leaving the house.

So he is to abandon me here, huh?

"Young Master, follow me," Old Arvi said while offering his assistance to me, "I will tour you to the house."

After about an hour of touring the house. Nothing picqued my interest until I decided to leave the house. Outside is a large forest, maybe to ensure this house will be kept on secrecy. Old Arvi followed me as I strolled the forest. There, I found something that caught my eyes. A small hut-like room.

"Hey, Old Arvi, what's that?" I asked while pointing to the room.

"Ahh. That's Lady Arietta's personal room," he said, "Unfortunately, I don't have the key for that room so I don't know what's inside."

I felt sad after I heard that. I want to know what my mother's room looks like.

"By the way, Young Master, Mister Devon told me that I must orient you about the war," Old Arvie said, "However, it's a bit late now, so let's just start tomorrow. Is that okay?"

I nodded as I started walking going back to the house.

"This will be your room, Master Don," Old Arvie said as we arrived my room, "If ever you need something, just call me by ringing that bell on your nightstand. I'll be going."

"Thank you..."

I browsed through the room, there are lots of books. Most of them are written in German and others were in Japanese or Chinese. I searched through the books and I found the book about "Iliad" of Homer. It brought memories back since this is the book my mother used to read for me. I took it from the shelf and found a small key behind it. Without any further ado, I took it and placed it in my pocket. Maybe it was instinct that made me do it.

I skimmed through the book and remembered the times when my mother was still alive.

Remembering those memories made me sleepy. I placed the book under my pillow and closed my eyes to sleep.

"I will always protect you, my little Don..."
