The Coelotaurus approached me and I held out my hand to stroke its narrow head. It responded and nuzzled at my palm. I breathed a sigh of relief. I had been in a distinct impression that the Tauruses in this life-like game world would be more like animals in general. I was glad that I was wrong. At least, it looked like the Coelotaurus was familiar with me. I didn't know about other organisms. And the fact that the Coelotaurus knew me, even before we met, meant that it was an intervention from the system. I would have to look forward to more interventions.
Now there was only one thing missing. I reached out for the saddle on the Coelotaurus' back and fumbled in the side-pockets. My hand came across a hard and cold metallic sensation and I grabbed it and pulled it out. The starting weapon - a glowing blue and metallic laser gun appropriately named the 'Hammer'. It was surprisingly light and I twirled it in the air before marveling at its form and hitching it to my belt.
My attention drifted back to the path. Blue footprints appeared according to the mission I had received. The mission had been specific and simple, I was to follow the blue footprints until I reached the destination marked by a cross. In this case, it was a ranger waiting to give orders to me.
