Jean's attacks came to a stop as Amaya was being carried away by a dark mage. Why were they taking her prisoner? Either way, Jean needed to act fast. She sprint after the dark mage who was carrying Amaya. In seconds, she was close enough to land an attack, but stopped as Aika stepped in the way.
"Even if you're with the dark mages. I'll overlook it if you step out of the way." Jean promised.
"This task is my purpose. This organization is my purpose. I wouldn't dare betray it."
Jean firmly held her sword as she boldly spoke "I don't know why you are taking that girl prisoner. But I'll let you know, I have a debt to pay and I owe her my very life. I won't allow myself to be bested against the likes of you."
Aika's eyes enlarged greatly. She felt touched and moved by the War Knights loyalty. It was even something she had to respect. A tingling sensation of excitement pumped through Aika's heart, legs and arms.
"I admire your dedication to your title. You say that you owe her your life. Then it will be your life that you will pay with."
In her hand, she was already holding a glowing silver blade. It was no doubt a mythical weapon. Then, her other hand reached underneath her large cloak and pulled out another sword. But this one had a dark red blade that gave off a dark vibe. Jean's heart thumped as she could feel the aura of the two swords, they were both Mythical weapons.
'Two mythical weapons?! This will be a dangerous fight. Who is this woman?'
Aika made her two swords crossover each other. They both set ablaze by silver and red lights.
"I usually stick to using one sword. When I want to end my opponent quickly, I use both of my lovely weapons."
She dashed forward and overwhelmed Jean with multiple attacks, nearly throwing her off-balance.
Chink. Chink. Ting.
Again, many slashes came her way.
Jean jumped into the air, landing on a tree branch to avoid being hit.
Tmp.
"Running away?" Aika asked.
"You're no ordinary mercenary. Who are you really?" Jean asked.
Aika didn't make an attempt to reply. It was like she, herself, unsure.
"Who are you?" Jean repeated.
"...That is something I don't have the knowledge to answer. But I do know this is where I need to be. This is where I am SUPPOSED to be. I know that serving the DARK MAGES is...is my purpose!"
Aika's pupils shriveled in anger and she held her glowing red blade into the air.
It's brightness increased and hundreds of red threads launched from it, at horrific speeds.
Swoosh. Swooshes. Boom! Boom!
All the knights and Dark Mages were hit and ripped into bloody chunks. The threes around were exploded into wood chips, flying into the air along with all the scattered blood.
Aika's angry eyes gazed at the scene of slaughter and destruction she had caused.
Huff. Huff. Huff.
The once crowded path of the forest was now a single open area. The only trees were those that were far enough to not be hit by the threads.
Huff...Huff.Huff.
Warm, stiff breaths slowly left Akai's mouth as she stood confused. She didn't know what had triggered her rampage.
"Why did I get mad? Why?!"
This wasn't the only time something like this had happened. Whenever someone asked her about who she truly was, she couldn't remember and would end up rampaging in anger. Each time, nobody around was powerful enough to survive.
When she awoke from a nap some month back, she was lost and had no memory of anything about herself or her life. That was when a Dark MAge approached her and explained that her name was 'Aika' and that she was a mercenary hired to work under them. Aika didn't know this stranger or what the dark mages even were, but she felt overcome by a pressuring voice in her mind, telling her that her purpose was to serve this organization.
"Yes. That's right. These voices, they are the voices of truth. They tell me what my purpose is. And never will I disobey what these voices tell me what i need to do for the future."
Aika steadily roamed away from this scene of disaster. Her task was done for the moment.
