Chapter 61 - Equipment Aquired

Sapphire had trapped in thought, reliving all the recent issues.

It felt like her 'bad luck' curse had never gone away. It was like it only got worse and only brought greater misfortune than before.

'Out of the millions of people, why me?' She thought to herself.

That was when a voice had pitched a question.

"What is it that you like to do for fun?"

It had come suddenly, shaking Sapphire out of thought, making her realize where she was at. She had spaced out mid-way through a conversation with Mary.

"Oh..I don't have any hobbies. The only thing I do is teach magic in the kingdom of Therngo." said Sapphire.

"Miss, Are you okay? First you spaced out and now you say your magic instructor? I thought I remember you saying you were an adventurer."

Back then when they had encountered the werewolf in the forest, Sapphire accidentally spoke a fact about her real identity, claiming she was an adventurer.

"Umm...being a magic instructor has a surprisingly big risk in coming across monsters. That's why I've fought so many. So, sometimes I like to think of myself as an adventurer."

"Ah. I understand now. Calling yourself an adventurer can trick your mind into feeling stronger? I had no idea." Mary concluded.

Nope, it wasn't even close to the real reason, but it did work well enough as a coverup reason.

"Wow. You're smart, you figured it out without me explaining."

"I'm….I'm smart?" Mary asked.

"That's correct. Whenever you feel weak, just call yourself an adventurer." claimed Sapphire.

Though it was a lie in the moment, it was actually strangely true. In all of the moments Sapphire had called herself an 'Adventurer' her mind had felt relief and flushed out stressed thinking.

'Maybe it really does work as a good coping skill.'

The bright light of the rising sun traveled through the window, catching Mary's attention, who projected her emotions out loud.

"Sunrise. I've always loved it. When I see it's light of warmth, I feel a sense of sameness. It always reminds me, light keeps on existing. Or so, that's how Father Antares used to explain it."

Father Antares wasn't someone Sapphire had remembered hearing about. Going of sounds alone, it sounded like it was another member of the council of light.

"Father Antares?"

"Yes. He used to be the priest of the church. One morning, he went missing without a trace. Soon, everyone forgot about him and began following the teachings of the newer priest. Father Ammiel."

A priest who suddenly went missing. It was a story that Sapphire's

[Sixth Sense] could feel that something was off.

But was The priest killed? Or was there something he went into hiding from?

HWile it was interesting, it wasn't Sapphire's business to investigate. Her main quest right now was to assist the knights.

As much as she wanted to find Ammiel and reclaim her stats from him, that wasn't the only road she had to travel on in order to rescue Emi. Not that the Dark Mages were a common enemy of the kingdom, Sapphire could use the knights in the forest of her advantage.

'But before I even think about going to the forest, I need to get my weapons from Kono.'

"Hello? Miss Sapphire, you spaced out again? Are you tired?" Mary asked.

"Just a little. It's nothing much. I just remembered I have some business to attend to. Will you be okay here alone for now?"

"I will. But, please come back. It feels weird to ask more when you're already letting me stay at this Inn with you. But, if you can, please come back soon."

Sapphire almost smiled as it felt like a conversation between a mother and child. Though, they weren't too far from each other's ages as Sapphire was 22 and Mary was 19.

"Don't worry, I will be sure to come back as soon as I can." said Sapphire

___________

Now, she was back in an area where she could be called by her real name.

Amaya was now standing inside of Hikaru's weapon shop.

"Oh, you're back. All of your equipment is ready. I actually got it done pretty fast. Let me go get them for you."

"Okay. I appreciate the work." said Amaya.

In only a few seconds, Hikaura placed all the items across the counter.

"Do you need an adventurer bag too? I'm selling for five copper."

"No. I'm fine. I have a storage of my own."A couple of the daggers disappeared into a blue light after Amaya grabbed them.

[Items Have Been Transported To Storage.]

"Ough, that's right. I do recall seeing you do that before. It's a shame I couldn't get any bags of my hands." said Hiakur, followed by his sigh of disappointment. Seeing how his shop never had many customers, he probably didn't make a lot of money.

"Sorry, but there's really no need for me to buy a portable storage for my portable storage. That would be kind of dumb of me. But, how about I do you a favor?"

"A favor? What do you mean?" Hikaru asked.

A blue light flashed out of Amaya's hand as a pile of coins appeared on the counter.

Hikaru almost didn't want to believe it. Many gold coins were right before his eyes. Amaya voiced what she had realized after observing him.

"I'm sure you don't even have one gold coin from what I gave you. The cost of my equipment drained it all. Didn't it? Even if there wasn't anything left for you, you still handed my stuff to me of no charge. Why?"

"And what made you think that?" Hikaru asked.

As much as Amaya wanted to say that she was some kind of genius, it was actually really simple.

"When you tried to get me to buy a bag. If you even had 1 goldcoin from what I gave you, I don't think you would've asked about something worth five copper?"

"It's true i didn't gain any money from getting the materials, but I also didn't lose anything. I'm a believer of Karma, so i didn't make a huge deal. If I could get you to buy that bag, I would've at least got some honor, even if it's only 5 copper."

By the way Hikaru acted with his career, he was too nice to own a weapon shop. It was the kind of job that also involved bargaining, something he was lacking.

"You're not too good at making money for your business. There's thirty-four gold coins in that pile. It won't make you rich, but it's more than enough to invest into making your business better. Do it right and you'll be set for good income."

The amount of money Amaya had given him, it wasn't anything a greedy person would do, and it wasn't really something a rich person would do either. Her actions were similar to someone who was a genuinely caring person.

"This is enough to help me change my life. But what's the catch?" Hikaru asked.

Amaya's finger-tip poked her chin as she thought about it, but there wasn't anything she really needed, so Amaya only settled for a simple request.

"Hmmm..I guess you can just make my equipment for 25% off whenever I need equipment."

"If that's all you want, then I'll do 45% off."

"45% Consider it a deal."
