Chapter 70 - Dream Troll

Laurence's POV:

I woke up from breaking out into a sweat, my hair was sticking to my face and the blankets were wrapped around me tight, constricting me almost like a snake. I threw them off quickly, rolling in the process before going straight into the floor and hitting my head against the nightstand. I fell back into the darkness, going unconscious.

"Laurence," I heard a sweet voice purring to me... Wait I know this voice. It's so familiar. It's Calix. I opened my eyes and looked around, finding myself back in the four cornered padded room. The straight jacket was back around me and I was curled up on the bed. A cold sweat formed on my forehead. I caught the image of a wicked grin spread out across the face of a familiar doctor at the asylum before the door creaked open in my padded cell. "Now's your chance," I heard Calix purr right in my ear. I heard a scream down the hall and then the scent of blood hit me. I felt a strange liquid starting to soak into my straight jacket as more screams sounded, and I could hear one of my bullies crying out in pain as well. I looked at the open door before rolling off the bed to get to my feet. I started for the door. This seemed all too familiar. I took off down the hall, running through the blinking lights that showed blood everywhere. I slipped up from running and fell straight down into a pile of blood. I groaned as I sat up, getting to my feet again.

"One of us," I heard a voice whisper, sounding like it was coming from the puddle. I could see a slight reflection in it of a girl with her throat ripped out, staring at me with her lifeless eyes in the puddle. Her lips suddenly pulled into a grin that chilled me to the bone and I felt clawed hands grabbing my back.

"One of us!" Another voice hissed at me, but this time it was a male. I let out a fearful scream and took off running, avoiding the puddles. I refused to look back as I ran for the red exit sign as clear as day to me. Hands started to grab at my feet and yanked me to the ground, starting to drag me towards a puddle of blood as the dead held onto my ankles tightly, clawing at my legs. I was suddenly reminded of the shrieking in the pits of hell and the humans trying to get away, the fear in their eyes the same and suddenly they were the exact same souls from before.

"Calix!" I yelled, my heart racing. I was in total confusion. I felt tears rushing down my cheeks. "Please help me." I heard him chuckle from the shadows.

"Beg," he purred at me and I could hear the clicks of his stilettos coming my way. "Beg for mercy~ I love hearing the pleas coming from you~"

"Please help me!" I begged him and reached out for the sound of his stilettos with my eyes. Unfortunately my arms were held to my sides. "They're taking me with them! I need help! I don't want to go with them." They screeched at me and I felt my feet hit the puddle. They bit into my legs then and started to tear the flesh from them. I let out a scream that echoed through the halls. "Calix, help me!" I gasped out. "I don't want to die!" He laughed at me and then leaned his face down to look at me, a pleased look written all over his face.

"Scream louder," he told me and then rubbed my face. I could see a hungry look in his eyes as they looked me over, practically sizing up my soul for his meal. I suddenly felt my feet get yanked into the puddle, the hands of the damned souls dragging me down into a puddle that felt endless as they snarled and bit at my skin as they got me and were clawing my backside up to get better grips on me. I let out a terrified scream and looked him directly in the eyes, begging him.

"Please save me," I begged and struggled my best to get away from the damned. "Calix," I sniffled out. He smirked and then reached a hand down for me, grabbing my arm before his touch started to burn me. I cried out in pain and looked him straight in the eyes. "Please," I said softly, my body trembled from the pain I was going through. He laughed then before he leaned in and bit a chunk out of my neck, a moan slipping from him as he tightened his burning grip on my arms. The souls screeched behind me and managed to dig their claw like nails into my back, ripping out more of my skin as they raked my back in their attempts to pull me into the puddle. "Calix!" I cried out and whimpered. He's betraying me. He's not going to help me. I shook my head and cried out in pain as my neck poured out blood onto the straight jacket, soaking it. "Why?" I asked. "Why won't you help me?"

"Don't you get it? I want your soul," he purred at me then licked my neck. "I'm going to eat you up in Hell~" I was suddenly yanked down chest deep into the puddle, the damned clawing at me as they tried to pull me in and I could feel even more brushing against my damaged legs, waiting to get me in eagerly.

"Don't let them take me," I begged him. "I don't taste good!"

"Oh yes you do," he told me and smirked. "You're one of the tastiest souls I've ever owned~! All that despair and misery~ It drew me right to you," he purred at me then knelt in front of me, tapping my nose. "Now be a good boy and hold your breath." I shook my head, feeling my heart racing.

"Please Calix," I begged. "Spare me." He laughed then.

"Why should I? You signed your soul over to me, and nothing will ever save you... not even the little ankle biter." The souls screeched and then yanked me down into the puddle, my vision becoming blurry by being surrounded by the blood as they started to pull me in deeper and away from the light where Calix was hovering over the puddle, watching as his eyes flashed red hungrily. I screamed as I was being dragged, letting the blood rush into my mouth. I squirmed and tried to kick away the arms. They latched onto me however and bit into my flesh, their snarls surrounding me as I suddenly felt like prey that had wandered into shark infested waters. I suddenly saw Silas's dead body fall into the puddle, air bubbles leaving his lungs and floating up to the surface as some of the souls swarmed for my maker and started to devour him as Calix watched with a pleased smirk. I shut my eyes quickly to avoid watching anymore, my heart raced in my chest as I begged it would all be over. I won't be anything anymore when he eats me. I won't suffer. When he eats me, I'll have my revenge because he'll never find another soul as good as mine and that'll eat away at him slowly. I felt a slow burning starting in my feet and working it's way up my body till I felt like I was forced from it. I could see my body being devoured down to its bones as I was having a sort of out of body experience. I felt something grab me then and Calix was staring me down suddenly with a grin. He smirked and then pressed me down onto my back against a leather surface. He crawled over me and leaned in, smelling my neck before he moaned. I looked towards him but relaxed a little. There's nothing I can do to prevent this. This is it.

"You're going to miss me when I'm gone," I mumbled. "You won't find another soul like mine." He laughed.

"Oh trust me... I learned how to eat only portions at a time. I'll only eat a bit of you every few centuries~" He growled then and bit into my ear. I whimpered and went to get away from him.

"Stop!" I yelled at him. He hissed and then ripped my ear off, eating it as he moaned at the taste of me. I curled up under him and trembled. He looked me over and then smirked before he leaned in to my shoulder and bit in, starting to eat me there as the sounds of my flesh being torn about reached me before the pain did. I let out a shaky breath and felt tears rolling down my face. He didn't stop either until I felt very weak. He pulled back finally then yanked me to my feet, yanking me towards a door then shoved me through it into the darkness.

"I'll be back to eat you again in a century," he told me and smirked, slamming the door shut as the darkness enveloped me.

I felt a small hand rubbing my arm, jolting me from the hellish nightmare. "Laurence," I heard Toru whisper worriedly. I felt tears streaming down my cheeks and my heart racing like a jack rabbit. I almost thought it was going to pound it's way out of my chest. I looked up and him and sniffled.

"Toru?" I asked softly. He pulled me into his arms and then picked me up, putting me on the bed.

"It was a nightmare again," he whispered to me comfortingly and rubbed my cheek. "You're awake now. It's night too." I grabbed him, pulling him closer to my body and hid my face against his chest.

"Toru," I mumbled. "I don't want to fall asleep tonight."

"But you..." He stopped and then wrapped me up in his arms tightly, kissing the top of my head. "Shh, it'll be okay. You're safe. I can watch over you if you want when you go back to sleep... but it would be dangerous if you tried to stay up...."

"I'm not going back to sleep again," I told him and shook my head. "No." I got to my feet to get away from the bed and started straight out of the room. I won't even go back in there. I'll get a bunch of energy drinks and go somewhere dark during the day. Toru quickly followed me and grabbed my hand, giving a soft whine as the bell on his kimono jingled.

"Don't leave me," he told me. "Not after having to witness you crying on the floor like that!"

"I'm not going to stay in there," I mumbled. I leaned my head down onto his shoulder. He relaxed a little as I leaned my head against him then kissed my head.

"Okay," he whispered. "We won't stay in there then...." He frowned and watched me. "I thought the nightmares were over. I'm surprised they came back." He tilted his head then smelled me before he wrinkled his nose up. "Gross... you smell funny too."

"I smell bad?" I asked and frowned. Maybe I need to go to Calix about it. It has to be him fucking with me. He frowned and looked me over before he sniffed my neck again and started to play with my hair, stopping us in the hall. He looked me in the eyes and frowned.

"It's like something was messing with you...."

"Messing with me?" I asked and grabbed his hand. "Calix?" I asked him. "It was Calix wasn't it?"

"Nuh uh. I'd know if he had been in your room," he growled. "I'd have bit him! No, it had to be something else. I can't smell Calix on you."

"Well who could it be?" I asked and frowned. "CALIX!" I yelled. "SOMEONE'S MESSING WITH ME!"

"What do you want me to do about that?" I heard him grumble behind me.

"Do something about it. It's disturbing my sleep." I looked towards him. He shrugged.

"I don't know what is messing with you. Hell, I didn't know something was messing with you." He started to walk off then. "Emile! Let's go explore these new things I brought back from Hell~" He purred, walking for his bedroom. I frowned.

"Calix," I whined. "You're my demon. Go hunt down what's hunting me."

"I don't care about what's hunting you as long as you aren't dead. You know that I'm not giving you the nightmares, so I'm going to go play with Emile and see what kind of kinks he'll enjoy," he hummed out.

"You're. Terrible." I hissed. "I don't know why I ever thought you could be anything like a friend to me. It's a good thing Silas saved me from dying to be your food source." I grabbed a hold of Toru and started off down the hall. Toru whined and then gripped my hand.

"I could look for it," he whispered, trying to be helpful.

"No worries, I'm going to just force myself to stay up and wait for it to come to me." I growled in aggravation. He frowned and then pulled his hand away from me and started back for the bedroom cautiously. I went after him and grabbed his hand.

"Toru," I whined. He looked towards me then gave me a serious look before he kissed my cheek.

"I'll find it and chase it off," he told me and gave me a smile. "Just like I chase Calix off." He shifted into his fox form then darted into the bedroom. I frowned and stood outside of the door, listening into the room. I could hear him walking around our bedroom, snooping around. It took about twenty minutes before I heard him let out a low growl. I could feel his anger rising as his growls got louder. I suddenly heard a girlish yelp from inside and the doors were thrown open before someone took off down the hall to get away from the bedroom. I widened my eyes as I caught a thirteen-ish girl running from the room. She had dark brown hair that ran down to her mid back. She was in a white dress but didn't have shoes on. Her skin was sort of a light green color. I could hear her giggle more as she ran from us. I could hear the sound of metal clinging together from a charm bracelet. Toru ran out of the room and went after her, yipping at her harshly as he raced after her with his ears laid back. I heard another door open before she disappeared inside. He barreled into the door and yelped as he couldn't stop quite fast enough. He whimpered and shook his head as I could feel his pain in his head from the impact. I frowned and held onto my head as I walked up and opened the door for him, peaking inside. I found her on the edge of the window, about to leave. Toru raced in and tackled her, yanking her back in by her dress and then growled as he crawled onto her chest and nipped at her nose to scare her. She yelped and widened her eyes before her charm bracelet glowed and Toru was thrown off of her by a magical force. Toru yelped as he hit the ground and then looked towards her before he let out a low growl and started to glow a bright white as he started to get back to his feet. She got to her feet and ran across the bed, bouncing on it as she giggled. He growled and went after her.

"GET BACK HERE!" He yelled at her then, jumping up onto the bed to get her. She bounced off of it and turned back to him, rawring at him before she went back to the window with a giggle. He growled and went after her. "I'M GOING TO GET YOU! YOU'VE BEEN GIVING HIM NIGHTMARES, YOU EVIL DREAM TROLL!" He snarled, pouncing on her again. She giggled and suddenly disappeared. I heard her giggle behind me before she grabbed my hand.

"Charles~" She giggled and rubbed her head against me. "Save me from him." Toru looked towards us with wide eyes then looked at me. I could feel him starting to get worried and a little broken hearted that she was so close to me.

"Laurence! That's the thing that gave you nightmares! Get away from her!" I looked her over.

"I'm not Charles. My name is Laurence."

"No you're not, you're Charles." She looked towards Toru and stuck her tongue out at him. Toru growled at her then and ran towards us before he tackled her feet and started to bite them. She yelped and started to take off running down the hall again. He snarled and went after her.

"HE'S MINE!" He growled at her. "YOU'LL LEAVE HIM ALONE!"

"EEEEEK!" She yelped as she disappeared into another room. I heard him chase her into it, going after her for me as he yipped at her. I walked up to the door and peaked in, finding the window open and just Toru in the room. He growled at the window and jumped up onto it, his fur bristling as he looked out for her. I walked up and looked out it, finding nothing but the darkness. He narrowed his eyes and laid his ears back, growling still as he stared outside. I looked down at him and rubbed his head. He tensed up and stopped growling, looking up towards me before he quickly licked my hand. He jumped up into my arms then and nuzzled his head against my chest.

"Laurence~"

"That was a dream troll?" I asked in confusion. He looked up at me.

"Uh huh, they mess with your dreams," he told me. "She must've been giving you nightmares."

"Why the heck was she here!?" I asked and frowned. Oh wait.... "She thought I was Charles." He growled and looked out the window then looked up at me, nipping my ear.

"She can't come near you," he growled. "Only I can."

"Well she got near me anyways," I mumbled. He growled then nipped harder on my ear, pressing his paws up against my chest then started to suck on my earlobe. I frowned and pulled away from him, dropping him on the ground. He yelped as he hit the ground then whimpered, looking up at me with a betrayed look. He started to crawl away then, laying his ears back and tucking his tail between his legs. I frowned and watched him. "Toru, why're you acting like that?" I asked. He looked up at me and then flicked his ears.

"I just chased a dream troll off for you, and you dropped me," he mumbled.

"You were sucking on my ear like a baby dragon," I mumbled.

"Because you let some strange dream troll near you instead of trying to get away from her," he growled and then curled up in the floor, watching me before he started to lick his paws.

"It was just a green little girl. I didn't feel threatened at all.... More fooled than anything." He looked up at me then and heaved a sigh before he got to his feet then walked back over to me. He sat down at my feet and looked up at me.

"She might come back," he told me softly. "I'll keep a look out for her."

"We better tell Charles he's got a visitor," I mumbled. Toru nodded and then looked towards my arms before he hesitated, looking like he wanted to jump up into them but changed his mind and shifted back to his human form, his ears twitching. I gave him a sweet smile before pulling him off to go find my little fledgling brother. He hummed as he followed me and started to cheer up a bit. When I neared Charles's room, I could smell his blood and Pierre moaning slightly, probably feeding from him again. I frowned and knocked on the door.

"Pierre? Charles? I hope you two are consenting!" I yelled and purred in amusement.

"Get lost!" Charles yelled. I smelled Pierre suddenly mark him then, making a moan escape Charles. I frowned.

"You two better have clothes on!" I warned. "I'm coming in, three, two," I gave it a minute before I walked in. "Ready or not, I'm here to aggravate you." As soon as I opened the door, I heard Pierre yelp and the bed rustled, Pierre quickly moving his face away from the inside of Charles's thigh as he quickly threw a blanket over Charles. Pierre looked towards me and licked his lips, looking slightly upset that I walked in. Charles groaned and threw his head back.

"WHAT?!" He asked me. "What do you want? You know we were busy Laurence."

"Do you know anything about trolls?" I asked curiously. Pierre frowned and looked towards Charles.

"What's he talking about?" He asked him and licked Charles's blood off his exposed fangs. He looked towards Charles neck and purred, leaning in and giving it a kiss before he started to give him a love bite. He gave a playful growl and scrapped his fangs up against Charles's neck, teasing him. Charles purred and put a finger on Pierre's lips.

"Well I was raised by trolls so I know everything." He looked towards me. "Why do you ask?"

"Because one has been playing tricks on my dreams, thinking I was you." Toru frowned and watched Pierre curiously as Pierre licked Charles's finger with a playful growl.

"Hmm~ Looks like they're looking for you Charles," he purred against Charles's finger and then scrapped his fangs against it.

"Probably because I've been away for so long," Charles mumbled. "We'll have to go visit my home soon or they might continue these little tricks."

"Mhmm... we can go sometime soon if you want," Pierre husked out to Charles then went to get around his finger for his neck again.

"When I'm five," Charles said softly before looking at me. "Can you go now? We're still busy." Pierre smirked and looked towards me before he kissed Charles's shoulder with a purr. Toru blushed a little and looked towards me.

"Laurence, I want to go find my kimono anyways," he told me. I nodded and left the room so they could have their fun together. I closed the door after Toru followed me out. I quickly smelled Pierre marking Charles again, picking up where I had interrupted. Toru glanced back at the door then at me with a frown.

"Does your kind normally bite your lovers on the leg?" He asked and winced.

"Usually it's with the women," I mumbled. He nodded slowly and then started to walk away from me towards where he had lost his kimono outside our room.

"So... it is sort of normal?"

"Well we are blood suckers," I purred. "Of course it's normal." He blushed and picked up his kimono before he started to put it back on, tying it back.

"Would you bite someone like that?" He asked softly.

"No," I told him. "I don't bite people." He nodded and then looked towards me with a smile.

"Okay.... Do you want to go get you some blood and get me some food?" He asked me sweetly, walking up and grabbing my hand.

"I don't know," I mumbled. "I'm not hungry tonight." He watched me then nodded.

"Okay," he purred and then leaned in, giving my cheek a kiss. He paused and then looked me in the eyes before he stole a kiss and laughed before he started to drag me in the direction of the kitchen. "I think I want some sushi~" I paused as I caught the whiff of a new scent.

"Hey...." I grew a smile on my face. "Someone's got a new fledgling here-" I stopped talking as I was suddenly tackled to the ground and bit into, a hungry growl came from it. I yelped and widened my eyes. "Alright I know I still have a human scent on me but still," I hissed. "Haven't you been taught your manors yet?" I asked and purred. "You can have a few swallows though," I told him and started to run my fingers through his soft ash brown hair. I could smell lightly in his scent he was about two years old. I couldn't catch a maker's scent on him. Well he can't just be here because he broke in. Someone brought him here. I'll have to ask around. I felt him lick my neck as he let out a moan. I shivered slightly as I had a flashback of my dream when Calix was eating me. He bit down hard into me, tightening his arms around me.

"Jack!" I heard Milo call out, turning the corner rather quickly as he caught the scent of blood. "You better not be- Oh my lord, I'm so sorry Laurence!" He ran up and then started to pull Jack off me.

"No it's fine," I told him sweetly. "I don't mind. He could have a few swallows."

"I didn't do anything wrong," Jack said innocently. Milo looked at him then purred, rubbing his head then looked towards me.

"Well, if you don't mind," he whispered then looked back towards Jack. "Are you ready?" He asked him and gave him a huge smile. "To become my fledgling that is?" Toru watched them with interest and reached down for my hand to help me to my feet. I got up with the help of Toru.

"So you're his maker?" I asked Milo.

"I'm supposed to become his maker tonight," Milo told me and then looked at us. "We found him last night when we were going to celebrate my death day."

"Oh, happy death day." I gave him a huge smile. "You're the first, following Charles and then me." He nodded and laughed.

"Yeah, you two are next, aren't you?" He purred and then held Jack's hand before he looked at him and gave him a kind smile. "If you want, you two can come hang out with us and help him get used to having a maker."

"Hmmm, okay. We'll hang out for a few hours with you. We don't have anything better to do. So your name is Jack?" I asked him, looking him over with interest. He nodded slowly.

"I picked it," he whispered. Milo rubbed his hand then started to lead us to the night room, pulling him with us with a happy hum. Toru bit his bottom lip and glanced at me then looked at Jack with interest, following quickly.

"So what have you been up to lately Laurence?" Milo asked me as he looked towards me.

"Playing with trolls," I muttered casually. Jack squirmed and got free of Milo's hand then went off to an arm chair and sat down on it, glancing us over. Milo looked towards him and then went over to him, sitting down in his lap before he purred and rubbed his cheek then leaned in towards his neck to bite him.

"May I?" He asked Jack softly, exposing his fangs as he was an inch away from his neck.

"No," Jack said and pushed him off his lap. "Don't sit with me either. What are you? Gay?" Jack gave a playful smile as he crossed his legs. "Stay out of my lap. You're not a lap dog." Milo frowned as he fell into the floor then narrowed his eyes at Jack.

"Jack, I'm supposed to make you my fledgling. I have to bite you," he hissed at him. "And I am gay- just not for you."

"Oh that's too bad," Jack mumbled and tsked. "I'm not interested." Milo frowned.

"Jack, I'm supposed to," he told him firmly and then stood up. "Now I'd like to bite you with your permission, but I can always bite you anyways... or find another way to drain you of your blood. If you behave, you can have a bit more of my blood than I was originally going to give you."

"Behave?" Jack asked. "You don't know me then," he tsked. "I'm not going to behave." He stood up on the chair then and sat down on the back of it. "I don't need your jaws around my neck." Milo frowned and then snatched his wrist, going to bite Jack without permission. Jack snatched his hand back while kicking Milo in the chest, causing him to tip over with the chair. I sat down on the couch and grabbed the bowl of caramel candies and took a handful before handing Toru the bowl. Toru looked towards it delight and got some, sitting down in my lap with a purr. Milo groaned and rubbed his chest then looked towards the tipped over chair before he narrowed his eyes.

"You're way too much trouble," he muttered and started for the door. "I just became a full vampire. I'll give you to Everest." Jack groaned on the ground before he shifted around and stood up. He smirked as he watched Milo walking off.

"Who's Everest?" Milo paused then looked back at him.

"Everest is someone who will be able to handle you and will force you to behave," he told him then frowned. "She has had multiple fledglings before and has twins to take care of, and I doubt that she would have a problem trying to get you to obey her if she really wanted you to obey. You'd be better off with someone more experienced than me, and she would be able to at least sink her fangs into you."

"What?" Jack asked in confusion. "I don't want a girl biting me."

"Oh well because that's what you get if you don't let me bite you," Milo told him and turned to face him, crossing his arms. He smirked at him then. "You'll be bitten and drained by Everest then turned into her fledgling."

"No. I. Won't." Jack exposed his fangs then. "I'm not letting you or her bite and drain me." Milo exposed his fangs back.

"Jack, you HAVE to have a maker. Someone has to be responsible for you till you are five. Don't you want someone to help protect you from the sun? From the streets? From other vampires? Your maker would be responsible for feeding you too and for clothing you and getting you what you want. You need one for another three years," Milo told him firmly.

"I survived this long without one of those things," Jack muttered and looked away. "Why should I get one now?"

"Because if you don't have one, you could be taken and sold easier, and your maker is supposed to show you how to survive and give you a place to live and be safe in. They're supposed to help explain the changes that are going on and be a friend. Look, you have to have one. The council will be upset if you don't have one. It's the way things are, and you shouldn't be left without one because your maker died in the sun." Milo walked up to him then and looked him in the eyes. "You just don't understand it because you haven't had one. You don't get how important it is, and that is exactly why you need one. You won't be able to fit into vampire society as easily if you can't understand it."

"Why do I have to be like everyone else?" Jack grumbled angrily. "It's not my fault for what happened to me." He sat down on the coffee table and picked up a handful of the caramel candies and looked them over. "Screw the council." Milo frowned at him and then crossed his arms.

"Jack," he mumbled. "Why don't you want one? They're great to have.... I loved having a maker. I'm sure Laurence loves having a maker too."

"Yeah but your relationship with your maker is different than my relationship with mine. After all.... I came with the full package of knowledge. I don't have to be babysat." I smirked and watched Jack with interest. He's going to be hard....

"I don't want one because I don't think I need one," Jack grumbled. "I think my two years proved enough. I can take care of myself." Milo frowned at him and then looked Jack over before he sighed.

"I'll talk to Lyle about letting you go makerless. You obviously are against it. Whatever... you could've been my first fledgling... but I guess I'd be better off going with a human I meet later- one that hasn't been a fledgling for two years," he muttered and looked at the floor before he started for the door. "I'm sure Lyle can talk to the council about letting you be makerless. I'll talk to him about a different fledgling. Good luck in your eternal life Jack." Jack watched him go before he looked at me and smirked, exposing his fangs. He started for me then and crawled into Toru's lap before leaning over him to bite into my neck. Toru shoved him into the floor and growled.

"You can't bite him," he told him and then wrapped his arms around my neck, leaning against me as he watched Jack. Jack growled as he looked us over.

"Why not?" Jack asked. "He's not telling me no."

"Because I'm protecting him," Toru growled and then kissed my cheek. "Inari gave me to him." Jack scoffed before getting up and left the room. I looked towards Toru.

"Well that's just perfect, you made him leave." I tsked towards Toru. "I'm sure we should be watching him. Especially since he doesn't have a maker. He'll probably go drain a maid-" Just as I spoke I heard a girl shriek. Toru shrunk back and whined.

"But he was going to bite you!" He got off me and then sighed, walking towards the door. "Let's go get him-"

"See! This is exactly why you need a maker! LYLE!" I heard Milo calling out in the hallway. I got to my feet and left the night room, going into the halls to where Jack was holding a maid to him and draining her.

"JACK! YOU BETTER NOT BE SINKING YOUR FANGS INTO SOMEONE!" Lyle yelled from what sounded like the study. Milo yanked Jack off her and then sank his fangs into his neck, pinning him. Toru widened his eyes and bit his bottom lip, watching Milo who closed his eyes and started to quickly drain Jack. I walked up to the maid and looked at her wound.

"You should go get that patched up," I warned her and motioned for her to hurry. I looked back at Jack and frowned, watching him squirm against Milo's grip. He's going to be a very hard fledgling to handle. Milo growled at him and bit down deeper to make him stop and held him down till he was looking weak and about to pass out. He pulled his fangs out then and lightly turned Jack in his arms to face him, looking him over before he bit into his wrist and held it to Jack's lips.

"Drink it," Milo told him, watching him closely.

I felt a little dizzy, watching them before I felt the whole room shift. The walls opened up more to brick walls, backing up further from me as the ceiling disappeared to open up to an early night sky. The flooring under me turned to an old sidewalk with way too many cracks. Your mother's back would surely be broken even if you tried to miss every crack. Milo disappeared from my sight along with Jack and Toru. I knew then, this was only me seeing something. The past. I could hear laughter coming just from the alley exit. There was a group of teenagers headed my way. Amongst them was Jack. He was following the group it seemed like, with his eyes watching a guy- not just watching but admiring. I heard the group laughing as the admired boy was telling them about Friday's gym class he had. How a poor kid ended up in detention because he got blamed for a spilled snack on the bleachers. It turned out the guy new who had been snacking and that's why they were all laughing, except for Jack, he was lost for words as he watched- idolizing. I could tell in his eyes, the guy was his truest friend. I suddenly found myself off guard as they walked through me, a girl called out for Jack but was looking directly at the idolized guy. The guy wearing the Nike shoes, blue jeans, a normal t-shirt from Holister, and a typical letterman and class ring. He was an all American in my eyes. I bet he even plays football. I felt like tsking. The letterman had Jack in cursive, right with his last name, Allison. I turned around, watching them heading down the alley without a care in the world. If that guy is Jack, then that means Jack isn't the fledgling's actual name. But he chose than name because it was the only one he remembered. He probably doesn't even know that he remembers it because Jack was with him in the alley. Of course I knew, this was the night that the fledgling Jack is turned. I already spotted the vampire huddled in the shadows of a building fire escape, waiting for his right move to pounce.

I heard the vampire move then. The alley lights flickered before shutting off completely. His feet- No I was mistaken- the lady vampire's feet touched the ground swiftly. It was a loud sound for me but too quiet for a human to notice. She took out a girl quickly, bringing her into darkness and sucked the life from her while keeping her quiet. The group didn't even notice her disappearance, they just continued to talk as they pulled out their phones to use as flashlights.

"Where's Lilly?" I heard one of the girls speak up. "We're missing Lilly!"

"This isn't funny Lils!" Another girl shouted. By the time her voice left her lips she was taken in a flash as the vampire drained her, blood gushed out as her phone dropped, catching the color of the blood before it clattered to the ground and shut off. One of the girls had saw it. She let out a scream before taking off down the alley. The vampire let out a laugh, loving a good chase. She went after her next. The guys shown their flashlights, watching as the girl was captured by the blur.

"Holly fuck man!" Jack Allison yelled as he shined the light over the two corpses of his friends. He looked back at the remaining group. "Someone call 911! Let's get the fuck out of here!" He said in determination. One girl, four boys. The girl was quick to dial the number, but had to give up her phone's flashlight to do so. Jack Allison was rushing his friends down the alley from where they had came from just to get away from the blurry killer. Unfortunately, the girl's phone was snatched out of her hand and crushed just before she was snatched into the vampires jaws. "Cassie!" Jack Allison yelled out, having caught her death in his eyes.

"Da fuck man," one of the guys yelled. "Why'd you take out the hot girls first!? BASTARD!" He was soon slapped by the other guy, straight across his face. As the four remaining guys rushed down the alley, Jack tripped on of the boys with his ankle. Sacrificing him to the vampire coming after them. No one had seen his little stunt, but I did. Jack Allison let his friend die. The vampire laughed as she drained the little sacrifice quickly before moving on to get the last three. This was a game to her. She took the third guy, slamming his head up against a dumpster before leaving him to finish him later and went after Jack Allison and Jack who's name he chose to be named. Jack Allison's death was marvelous, she took him quickly and toyed with him. She whispered a few unsettling things in his ears about what she was going to do before finally finishing him for good. Jack stood there, watching in fear as his idol was devoured. He just stood there, waiting for her to kill him as well. His boy trembled as she went for him next, pleased when he let her have him. She purred as I moved closer to get a better look at them. I could hear his heart trembling in fear from her purr.

"Shhhh," she soothed him. "One day you'll thank me for this." She bit down into his neck while running her finger down to his butt and gave it a squeeze. She drained him like a cat that was calmly drinking it's milk. She did it smoothly, her red and demonic eyes running over his smooth face. She wasn't like any vampire I ever met, but her scent was of royal blood. When she had drained every drop in him, she bit down into her wrist and force him to drink from her.

When the transformation was kicked in, she started to pick pocket her victims in the alley, putting their money in her pocket. I caught a glimpse into Jack (the fledgling) 's wallet and found his real name was Liam Ivy. When she finished pick pocketing them she went back to the one she left alive and began to drain him before piling the bodies together. Right as she was going to pick up Liam, a shot came from down the alley. A bullet went straight into her chest before her whole body exploded into dust, blood, and ashes. My eyes widened as I looked towards the end of the alley, finding two girls standing together.

"It's about fucking time we found that blood binging bitch," one of them hissed as she pulled out her phone and dialed a number and stuck the phone up to her ear. "Hello? Yes. I'm calling in for clean up. We've got eight dead bodies and one pile of ash and dust." She looked over the street name before giving it to them and hung up. "Let's go, sister." She looked towards her identical twin before they left the alley to continue with their hunt.

As the sun started to rise, Liam began to wake up. He opened his eyes slowly before stumbling to get away from his dead friends. He broke out into tears as he looked them over. He looked around, becoming blinded a little by the light. He started for the exit. I reached out for him, not wanting him to get hurt. Don't do it, kid! Of course there's no way he would hear me. He stepped out but drew himself back into the dark alley, screaming out in pain from the touch of the light. He fell to his knees and started to cry, trembling. I could feel him utterly confused. As the sun started to rise across the alley, he went to the dumpster and slipped inside it. He stayed there as people came into the alley and took the bodies away. They were the clean up ground requested by the hunters. The nightmarish vision faded and I found myself right where I began. Lyle feeding the fledgling his blood. Jack's real name is Liam.... but I don't think that's something I should share just yet. I'll let him get to know this world first before I tell him what I know.

Jack growled with irritation and looked strained before he bit down into Milo's wrist. Milo held back a yelp and winced slightly, watching Jack and then relaxed a little. He ran his fingers through Jack's hair and then went to pull his wrist back when Jack was beginning to get his strength back. Jack growled viciously and held onto Milo's wrist. He yelped then and looked towards Jack with wide eyes, tugging on his wrist. "That's enough," he whispered worriedly. "Jack, let me go." I walked up to them and helped Milo, pulling Jack away from him. I suddenly felt his anger flush through me as he escaped out of my grip. He stood up and shoved me back from him. Milo hissed at him then and grabbed his hand. "Calm down," he told him then rubbed his knuckles soothingly. "Come on, let's get you some blood that you can drink." He gave him a soft smile and purred towards him. "What do you say? Would you like some more blood?"

"Don't tell me to calm down," Jack grumbled and yanked his hand back. Milo frowned and looked at him.

"S-sorry," he mumbled and then shifted nervously. "Come on, let's go get something for you to drink though.... You need it, and I wouldn't mind something myself." Jack sighed and looked away.

"Okay," he muttered.

"Don't look so down," Milo purred softly to him. "Tell you what, if you promise not to bite the maids or other vampires, I'll let you drink from me once every night when you want it," he promised and gave him a huge smile. "I don't mind, and it's not like Lyle drinks from me constantly. We should be friends."

"I'm not making that promise," Jack hummed out. "Your blood isn't as good as the maids."

"Of course it's not because I'm a vampire and they're humans. I bet I tasted better a day ago," he hummed out and laughed. "I don't know.... I should ask Lyle that... if fledglings taste a lot better than vampires. He might not want to drink from me much anymore... and he already didn't drink from me much." He frowned and then grabbed Jack's hand, starting to take him down the hall. "So what kind of blood would you like? I might be able to get a maid to donate her blood and we could put it in a glass for you instead of bottled blood... or I could get you used to bottled blood starting tonight... and we could go find some kind of fun to do together after we drink~ What about clubbing? We could go explore town together! I didn't really go clubbing when I was a human.... I was too into trying to find vampires... or writing.... I wonder if you'd like that... partying."

"I don't think that's a good idea," I told Milo. "He shouldn't be too involved with humans until he can control himself. You better keep him here." Jack tugged away from Milo and started down the hall, walking away from him.

"Don't hold my hand. That's as bad as sitting in my lap," Jack told him. Milo frowned then went after him.

"Come back here! We're supposed to go get you something to eat," he told him and caught up, walking beside him. "Fine, I won't hold your hand." I followed after the two, just to make sure they'd stay out of trouble. Especially Jack.

"I can get my own food," Jack grumbled.

"Why are you so difficult? You were easier to get along with yesterday," Milo mumbled.

"Are they going to be alright?" Toru asked softly from my side.

"Maybe, once Jack calms down. He's just grouchy. This is all new to him." I gave Toma a smile. Jack gave Milo a slight glare before looking away from him. Milo frowned and got quiet, watching Jack before he rubbed the back of his neck and looked away from him.

"I'll be in the study.... When you're ready, come talk to me," Milo whispered and then patted Jack's shoulder. "Don't leave the castle or bite the maids. You can ask them for things, but don't bite them...."

"Stop telling me what to do," Jack hissed. "I'm not a baby."

"I know you're not a baby, but I'm telling you this because you might get hurt or get me hurt. I get punished for what you do, and I'd like to keep my fangs in my skull where they belong. If you feed too much or bite others too much, they'll rip them out of my head and I won't be able to feed except for out of glasses for five years," Milo warned. "What you do affects me."

"But that's what we're supposed to do, this is who we are is drink blood from others." Jack gave him a confused look. "What's wrong with you?"

"Well... look at it from this view. Remember when you lost all your friends and then you were mercilessly turned? That horrible experience? We don't drink from humans without permission because we don't want to do that to them. We also ask vampires because it's awful to feel like you have no control or power over what happens to you," Milo explained and gave him a small smile. "You didn't like it when I held you down, right? That's why we don't drink from others without permission. As long as you ask and they say it's fine, then yeah, you can drink from them, but don't do it unless they say you can." Jack softened his eyes a little and looked down at his feet.

"Okay," he whispered. "I'll consider that the next time I look at someone and feel hungry." Milo gave him a huge smile then.

"Thank you Jack," he purred sweetly. "If you don't want food right now, do you want to come hang out with me and Lyle? We could pester him while he works," he suggested, giving a playful smirk.

"Can I bite him?" Jack asked softly.

"If he says you can," Milo told him and laughed. "I wouldn't mind you biting me either if you promised to stop when I say so, but he probably tastes better than me, huh?" He chuckled and then looked back at me. "I'll see you and Toru later, kay?" He gave me a cute smile and then looked at Jack with a happy look as he started to lead him towards the study. "Let's go~"  I frowned and watched them walk off before looking at Toru. Looks like we have nothing to do now.

"You wanted food right?" I asked him, thinking about how we were on our way to the kitchen before hand.
