Continuation of Milo's POV:
I stirred a little as I felt a sudden sense of safety rush over me, waking me as I opened my eyes and looked around. I couldn't feel any pain anymore... just an intense burning hunger in me. It's like the car never happened.... I sat up slightly and then looked down at Lyle, blushing as I saw his face. He's my maker huh? I looked down at him and then felt a small purr rise up in me, tickling my throat before I started to get up out of the bed to go look for something to eat. I heard a small voice talking outside the bedroom door. A small chuckle coming from the voice.
"So, he's suddenly a maker and forgot to mention to us he was coming back with a fledgling?" I heard a male ask softly. I widened my eyes then stopped walking. Are they talking about us? I blushed. Oh man, they're right outside.... I looked towards the bed then quickly ran back over to it, jumping up into it to Lyle's safety. "He even came home late and woke up Esther. He's lucky Silas was still gone, doing who knows what. Why is his door locked? Come on Everest, let's try waking him before it turns dawn."
"Yeah," I heard another voice say that sounded amused. They started banging on the door, making me yelp before I quickly hid myself against Lyle, trembling. Who are they? Are they his siblings? They didn't sound too happy about me being here with Lyle. Lyle shifted under me and ran his fingers through my hair before he left me and walked up to the door and opened it.
"Sylar, Everest, I'm sorry I was out late and if I woke you up coming in." Lyle purred.
"Why're you hiding in this room with your first fledgling?" I heard the first voice ask. "Come on and introduce him to us."
"Yeah, you're making it suspicious," the second voice purred. "We're going to tell Silas on you if you don't hurry up~" I widened my eyes and shrunk under the covers, hiding under them. Oh man....
"You two know how long it takes for a fledgling to get situated in this life and what a toll it takes on a maker. Even I knew for my first time last night. We both needed our long rest. I was going to introduce him as soon as we were ready to meet others. You two are going to scare the death out of him. I'll bring him down to the night room in a hour. Let us get ready." Lyle purred sweetly before closing the door in their face. "Send a maid up if you want to be helpful. Have her bring some blood." Lyle locked the door and started back to the bed.
"We'll be up here if you're not in the night room in an hour!" One of them shouted through the door. I heard them walk away then. Lyle sat down on the edge of the bed and looked me over through the darkness.
"Hungry?" He asked me with a small smirk. I looked up at him and blushed slightly before I nodded.
"Uh huh," I mumbled to him.
"Do you want a light or are your eyes adjusted to the dark already?" He asked curiously. I moved a little closer to him, sitting up slightly.
"The dark is fine," I whispered to him.
"I'm going to have you take a shower now. I'll lend you a pair of my clothes." He got to his feet and walked through a side door. I watched him and then looked at the bed before I slowly got to my feet, trailing after him. A shower sounds nice.... I followed him into a walk in closet that was the size of my apartment bedroom. He had already half of an outfit picked for me. Another door was on the other side of the closet. He gave me the outfit he picked and started towards the door, leading me into a huge bathroom. "Here we are, you know what to do from here. Have a very relaxing shower." He cut the water on for me before leaving me alone. I bit my bottom lip and sat the clothes down on the counter before I locked the doors to make sure no one could get in then stripped. I looked my coffee stained shirt over before I sighed and folded them with my pants and then walked over to the shower, adjusting the water then got in. I gasped as the water hit me and then relaxed, a small moan escaping my lips as the water started to sooth my muscles. I glanced around the shower before I reached for the shampoo and started to clean myself up, taking my sweet time as I enjoyed the warmth.
When I finished taking a shower, I got out and dried off before I finally took a look at the clothes that he had picked out for me and put them on, hoping they weren't uncomfortable like the ones he was wearing last night. He had actually picked out a more comfortable pair of clothes for me. Jeans, a poofy white dress shirt, and boxers. It wasn't as constricting as the outfit he had on. I sighed and looked at the shirt, deciding I could get over that and get my clothes from my apartment later before I brushed my hair out and walked over to the door and unlocked it, going out into the bedroom as I looked around for Lyle. I hope he didn't abandon me.... Lyle was waiting for me on the bed.
"We'll order you clothes later, something comfortable and fit for a fledgling. I know you're wanting more comfort and the clothes must feel confiding for you but I don't have anything comfortable since I'm king. I'm supposed to look my best at all times." I noticed Lyle had changed clothes while I had taken a shower. There was two glasses of red blood on the nightstand. "Come here," he purred and reached out, picking them up. I looked towards him and then at the glasses before I bit my bottom lip and approached him. I sat down beside him and reached for one, feeling my hunger spiking up in me again at the sight of it. He gave me a glass and downed the one he kept. I watched him before I started to sip on mine, trying not to chug it as I could feel desire running through me for the rest of it.
"Thanks," I whispered to him as I licked my lips then took another sip. "I can get my clothes from my apartment later tonight... so don't worry about it." I gave him a smile. "Thank you though King Lyle," I purred softly to him.
"You can't get any of your old clothes. You've got to remember.... You're no longer human. Your human self died and you'll get new clothes." He looked me over and sat the glass down. I frowned. I can't wear any of my old clothes?
"Why not?" I asked him curiously. "What's so wrong about wearing them?"
"If you touch any of your old clothes, if any of them was to disappear.... some might... suspect you're still alive and will look for you. This is your new life." He tried to explain to me. I nodded and then smiled.
"Okay, I guess that makes sense," I told him. My family would be checking for me and so would my editor- MY EDITOR! I widened my eyes.
"Does this mean I can't write anymore?" I asked him, feeling the glass slipping from my hands.
"You can still write but they'll never become published in the human world. You're dead now to them." I gripped my glass to keep it from falling and stared at him. Oh my gosh... my works will never be published anymore? I looked down at my glass and felt my eyes start to tear up. I didn't think about that.... No one will be able to read my stuff anymore... and all those talks and book signings for people... all gone....
"I'm sorry I took that from you," Lyle whispered, his eyes showing pain as he watched me. I looked up at him wide eyed. He's hurt? I asked him to! I felt my glass slip from my hands and I was quickly in his arms, hugging him as I buried my face into his chest, wanting to comfort him like he did me.
"It wasn't you," I told him quickly. "I asked for this. It's fine! Please don't be upset," I whispered to him and looked up into his eyes worriedly from his chest. He rubbed my head and sighed.
"You've got what you wanted though, right?" He asked and moved us to our feet and towards the door. "It's only going to get better from here." I nodded and then let go of him, moving a few inches away to give him his space as I rubbed my arm. Hopefully it will only get better from here.... "Let's go meet my brothers," he suggested and started to lead me towards the door where he unlocked it and went through it and into the hall. I followed after him quickly, not wanting to be left.
"Okay," I whispered to him and then smiled softly, happy I was with him still. I kind of don't want to leave him... ever.... He's my first vampire and he's also my maker! I can't ditch him, even after training. "King Lyle, I don't have to leave after you finish training me, right?" I asked him, biting my lower lip as I felt a little anxiety run through me from the idea of him kicking me out.
"You can call me Lyle since you're my fledgling. No you don't ever have to leave me." He gave me a sweet smile and lead me into a modern living room. There was two boys waiting on the couch already with another girl and boy. Two more then expected. One of the boys got up quickly, narrowing his eyes at Lyle.
"What the hell is this?" He asked, walking up. "You of all people bring home more outside trash?" He hissed, exposing his fangs towards Lyle. "I already have to deal with you being here, and you don't even belong here!" I widened my eyes and quickly grabbed Lyle's arm, getting closer to him. The boy looked towards me in disgust then looked at Lyle in hatred. Another boy got off the couch and started to walk up.
"Silas, how many times do we have to tell you that Lyle is not outside trash. He's our brother," the boy mumbled, tugging on the first boy's hand to try to get him to come away, but Silas yanked his hand away, glaring at the boy.
"Everest, you know nothing, so why don't you shut up?" He hissed, making the other boy flinch slightly.
"Silas, don't do this today." A boy on the couch growled. "I'm tired of your bull shit. This is Lyle's first fledgling. Why can't you put your feud a side to give him praise for his first time becoming a maker. If you can't do that to our brother then get the hell out of the night room."
"You heard Sylar," Lyle growled towards Silas. "I don't need your praise anyways." Silas narrowed his eyes.
"I'll give you more praise when you start telling the truth, you lying snake," he hissed under his breath and spat towards him before he walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
"I think Silas finally lost it," the one of the couch sighed out.
"I'm sorry," Lyle whispered. "Forgive me, I forgot to introduce everyone." He said calmly. "This is my fledgling Milo. Milo these are my siblings. The only girl is Esther. The one by her is Sylar who's got a large mouth. The one who walked out was Silas and the remaining brother is Everest." I looked them over and then nodded, looking up at Lyle curiously. What did Silas mean by lying snake? Lyle isn't lying to anyone, right? I bit my bottom lip then gave everyone a nervous smile.
"Hi," I said softly, watching as Esther giggled and got to her feet. She walked up to me and looked me over before she grabbed my hand.
"You're kinda cute," she purred to me and smiled. "No wonder why my brother sank his fangs into you~ You and I are going to have lots of fun, kay? We'll start by giving you a slight makeover first though to unearth some of that hidden beauty." She kissed my cheek and pulled me into a hug. "You and I are going to be the best of friends!" I widened my eyes as she was practically squeezing me to death.
"Esther, could you get a wardrobe full of clothes put together for my fledgling?" Lyle asked her. "If it's not too much trouble."
"Of course I can! Want me to pick out clothes that I know you'd like on him or stuff the ladies would like on him?" She winked his way, giving a playful look.
"Milo is a author, big seller in the human life. He'll feel much better wearing comfortable clothes. You can tell he's already uncomfortable in what I let him borrow." Lyle told her. "So, get him something he'd be able to relax in." She raised an eyebrow at him then nodded.
"Alright, I'll get him a writer's closet," she hummed. "But! He's getting some nice clothes too for special events!"
"Great idea," Lyle purred. "I wouldn't want him to have nothing to wear when we host gatherings."
"Uh huh~ I'll get him something fit for a king's first fledgling. He'll have the ladies squealing, just like if he was a little fledgling prince," she purred teasingly towards him, making me blush. Ladies squealing? I've never even been on a date!
"As long as we don't have them trying to steal him from me..." Lyle's eyes scanned me. Esther giggled at him.
"That's why you'll keep him close by your side," she told him and then ran her fingers through my hair. "I might steal him from you though. He's really cute, and he's so innocent looking." She smirked at me. Oh man... I don't like that look.
"Not tonight, he's only a day old. He needs to stay close with me." Lyle told her.
"Awww... you do have a point though. I will steal him from you when he's a little older then," she purred and let me go, touching my cheek. "He's a real cutie." She smirked, looking me over. I yelped and quickly went back to Lyle, glad she let me go. Lyle wrapped me up in his arms and purred.
"Let's sit down," he purred and dragged me over to a couch. I noticed then the curtains were open and exposing the night sky where a full moon was glowing into the room. I looked out at it with wide eyes and then relaxed against him. It's beautiful.... I smiled and then looked up at Lyle before I sat down right next to him on the couch, leaning my body into his as I felt safe with him. Esther watched us in amusement before she walked up to Everest and whispered something to him, making Everest laugh.
"You already know that though," he purred in amusement to her. She giggled.
"I know~ It's just that it's cute, isn't it?" She told him before she bounced over to Sylar and sat down with him. Sylar gave her a small smile before getting up.
"I think... I'll go see how Silas is doing. We were all mean to him and I feel bad. He's our brother and I don't want to tear him apart because he's jealous Lyle is king. I'll be back later you guys." He left the room quickly. Esther watched him go and smiled a little before she watched Everest walk over and take Sylar's place. I smiled and leaned my head against Lyle, hugging his arm happily. His siblings aren't that bad... at least from a distance.
"Oh I want you to get him a traditional black cloak," Lyle told his sister quickly. Esther looked over quickly and then nodded.
"Uh huh," she hummed out and smiled. "I'll get him one tonight! He's got some old clothes here I'd assume." She got to her feet and bounced off towards the door. "I'll just collect them from the maids and get his size~"
"Why don't you just ask him right now for his sizes in everything?" Lyle asked. She smirked.
"Because the little thing is clinging to you, my dearest brother," she purred teasingly, giving a wink. "I'm not going to make him worry his pretty little head over it. I can just as easily get his sizes and surprise him with the types of clothes I get him."
"You're the best," Lyle purred towards her. "Not wanting to worry my fledgling over something so little as that." She smirked.
"That's why I'm buying myself that new purse I wanted with your card~" She giggled and quickly disappeared out of the room, shutting the door behind her. "OH MAIDS~ I NEED LYLE'S NEW FLEDGLINGS OLD CLOTHES!" I blushed and shrunk against Lyle before I realized that it was just me, Lyle, and Everest now. His siblings disappear fast.... I looked towards Everest before I looked up at Lyle and cautiously got up, feeling a little anxious about separating myself from my maker as I slowly walked over to a window to look outside. I wasn't even sure where we were... and I'm only going to get to see this place at night.... I'll never know what the yard looks like in the daylight. Outside was a wonderful garden with hedges that reminded me of the maze in Alice in Wonderland. I could hear an owl outside and a faint smell of dog lingered near the windows.
"Last night went well, the Nero family was pleased with my views on the vampire resistance." Lyle whispered.
"Oh? That's good. They'll be less likely to listen to Silas's lies about you," Everest hummed out. "Want me to get you a trainer for the fledgling? You're king after all. You need time to worry about king stuff, not raising a fledgling." I tensed up a little and gripped the curtains slightly. Be separated from Lyle? I widened my eyes and then tried to calm myself from the idea. I was originally going to part ways with him after becoming a vampire anyways rather than burden him.... It'd be for the best anyways! He's a vampire king.... I'm just a human trying to become a full vampire.... I bit my bottom lip, my sharper teeth accidentally cutting into my lower lip and making me bleed.
"He's my first fledgling... I want to train him personally. If the council has a problem with my absences here and there then they can take it up with me personally. I'm going to be the best maker I can possibly be for him. That doesn't involve someone else training my fledgling. Besides... that would look poorly of me if I didn't train him myself. I'm not a lazy maker or too busy to not train him. Don't worry. If Silas keeps up his lies he's going to make this family look weak.... We need to do something about him."
"Yeah, we do need to make him quiet down," Everest muttered. I felt my body relaxing at Lyle's words, soothing me. He's not going to hand me over to someone else.... "I'll see to it with Sylar about that.... Can I at least get him his own room? I want to help a little. It's your first time after all.... I've made at least... five," Everest whispered. "They get attached easily to their makers, especially the quiet ones. He won't want to leave your room if you wait too long, and when you finally settle down with whoever your soul mate is if you find them, you'll have a rough time getting him to sleep on his own."
"I don't mind him sleeping with me. It's not as lonely when he's there. If the time comes I do find my soul mate~ He'll get his own room. He can have his room now if he truly wants it." Lyle said calmly. "I'm going to spoil my fledgling though." I heard Everest laugh a little.
"That's kind of cute," he purred. "It's your choice. I'm sure he'll probably opt to stay in your room." I bit my bottom lip and stared outside. Should I say something? I mean... I'm right here... and they're kinda talking about me like I'm not.... Then again... I probably don't mean that much to anyone else here but Lyle....
"Milo, you want to sleep with me in my room~ Right?" Lyle asked me sweetly. I looked towards him and widened my eyes before I smiled.
"Uh hu-"
"No you don't," Everest purred, giving me a smirk. "You should tell him no. Trust me."
"Everest," Lyle said softly and shushed him. Everest frowned and looked towards Lyle.
"I can't have a little fun with this?" He asked softly. "We all know you wouldn't let him get too far from you even if he did tell you no." I blushed slightly and looked down at the ground. Oh man.... Lyle's family is weird....
"That's only because I've experienced what happens when makers ignore their fledglings," Lyle looked towards me then. "Are you enjoying the view?" I looked up at him and bit my bottom lip. What happens when makers ignore their fledglings?
"Uh huh," I whispered, glancing back outside then at him before I walked back to him quickly, sitting down next to him again. He placed his arm around me and leaned in towards my temple and kissed it softly.
"When you get hungry or need anything else, let me know." He purred and looked towards his brother. "Or you might end up regretting it." I blushed and then nodded to him, leaning my head against him.
"I will," I promised him softly and nuzzled up to his side, getting closer as I got comfortable. Everest watched us and smiled a little before he got to his feet.
"Well, you have my support Lyle," Everest purred. "If I can help you in anyway, you know where I am. I'm going to go check in on Sylar and Silas, okay?"
"Send my regards," Lyle purred. "I'm sure Silas will enjoy it." Everest smirked and nodded before he disappeared, making me jump slightly. He just disappeared! OH MY GOD, HE TELEPORTED! That's so cool! I wonder if Lyle can do that.... Lyle laughed and looked towards me. "One day, you'll have your own unique power." I blushed and looked up towards Lyle before I nodded.
"Really?" I asked him softly, getting excited.
"Yeah, we're evolved more then humans and are more in touch with this world. Sometimes traveling is quicker for instance.... sometimes temperatures are easy to control without thermostats. Whatever your power turns out to be, I hope you enjoy it as much as you enjoyed watching Everest use his freely in front of you." I nodded and smiled at him.
"That's so cool," I whispered to him and then hugged him. I'M GETTING A POWER! SO WORTH BEING TURNED!
"You probably won't develop your power until five years from now though. You're still a turning vampire." Lyle gave me a sweet look before he got to his feet. "I've got work to do in my study. You can come with me and I'll give you something to look at that might interest you. After all.... there are vampire authors." I widened my eyes at him. OH. MY. GOD.
"Can I be one?" I asked quickly, jumping up to my feet fast. Please, oh please, oh please! Is there a chance I can still write as long as it's within the supernatural world?!
"I'll get you journals to record your fledgling years if that's what you truly want. When you're not a fledgling and you're officially a vampire in this world... we'll get you a laptop and let you become a published vampire author. Until then- journals." He rubbed my head and linked arms with me. "The next time we see my sister, I'll tell her you want journals and pens." I nodded and giggled slightly then blushed. I just GIGGLED! Oh man... Help me... I quickly looked away from him in embarrassment and went to pull away. What the hell?! I never giggle like that! AGH! He pulled me towards the doors and down the hall. I yelped and followed him, biting my lower lip as he pulled me along. He purred with amusement as he tugged me into a two story room with tons of books surrounding a desk. There was a huge spiral stair case going to the above level. Around the desk was comfortable couches with a coffee table in the middle. "Go sit down and I'll go get the books I want you to read." I looked at him and nodded before I walked over to one of the couches and laid down on it, watching him as I let out a sigh and smiled at the comfort of the couch. He walked around the room, going shelf to shelf- getting books down. He came back to me with five of them and sat them down on the coffee table. "Read these, I've got to go do King things." He walked up to the desk that had a pile of paper of it and sat down, giving a sigh. I watched him for a few seconds before I reached out and grabbed one, starting to read it.
~Time Skip~
I somehow managed to finish all the books before he was done and rolled off the couch, feeling hungry again as I got to my feet and bit my bottom lip, slowly inching towards the door curiously as I looked around the room. I'd come back to check on him....
"Where are you going?" I heard him ask me from the desk. I froze up and then looked back at him before I blushed. Caught.
"N-nowhere," I told him, giving him a nervous, innocent smile.
"Don't lie," he told me firmly. His eyes were like daggers on me. "I'm your maker." I tensed up and then nodded quickly.
"Y-yes sir," I whispered, my body trembling slightly as I felt like he was going to get me. His eyes softened as he watched me.
"Well... where were you going?" He asked and motioned for me to sit back down. I hesitantly walked back to the couch and sat back down.
"To explore," I mumbled, watching him.
"Remember Silas?" He asked me. "I don't want you alone with Silas under the same roof as us." He told me casually. "You can go pick out another book to read to keep yourself occupied. Remember that if you ever need anything you need to talk to me about it. Be honest with me. You're my fledgling and I need to know everything that is going on with you. I'm here to help you- teach you." I blushed and nodded. He did tell me to tell him when I get hungry... I guess I should say something then.
"W-well... I'm also a little hungry," I whispered to him, admitting it.
"Thank you for telling me that," he purred and uncovered a phone on his desk and picked it up. He dialed a number. "Send a bottle of blood to my study. Make that two." He hung up and sat the phone down. "There, we'll have your hunger tamed soon." I smiled and relaxed a little before I nodded.
"Mkay," I purred softly then got to my feet, bouncing over to a bookshelf. He picked up an envelope off his desk and used a letter opener to rip it open. He pulled out a thin piece of paper from inside and tilted the envelop over, letting gold pieces fall out onto the desk. He opened the slip of paper, letting his eyes scan over it. I glanced at him and then smiled softly as I watched him closely. I'm glad that he is my maker if anyone had to be my maker.... I grabbed a book off the shelf and then walked over to his desk, sitting by a chair in it. He picked up the pieces of gold and opened a drawer in his desk and dropped them inside. He sat the envelop aside with the letter and went for another envelop. I watched him out of the corner of my eyes and smiled a little before I opened my book to read it, swinging my feet back and forth happily. The door opened to the study and a maid walked in with two bottles of red liquid on a tray.
"Right over here," Lyle told her. "One for me and the other goes to my fledgling."
"Yes sir," she said calmly. I looked up in excitement before I shut the book, setting it aside as I waited, not wanting to seem to eager and get scolded. Would I get scolded? I glanced at Lyle, trying to calm down like him. The maid walked up to Lyle first and sat the tray down on his desk, picking up a bottle and opening it for him. She handed it to him before taking the tray to me and sat it down on the table. She opened the remaining bottle and gave it to me. She took the tray and left us immediately after. I looked towards the bottle and then took a sip of it, a slight moan escaping my lips as I started to feel better and my body relaxed, practically melting into the seat as I started to drink it happily. Lyle sucked down the blood in his bottle, sitting it down when he finished and went back to his paper work. I looked towards him and smiled, finishing mine before I sat it down and then got to my feet, walking over to him and then behind him before I hugged him.
"Thank you mas- Lyle," I quickly corrected myself, blushing as I realized I almost called him master out loud. He looked over his shoulder at me and purred.
"I'm pleased you shared with me you were hungry," he reached up and patted my arm. I smiled at him before I nodded then let go, looking him over before I gently started to massage his shoulders, knowing I loved it when my sister used to do it for me when she stayed with me.
"Uh huh," I whispered softly. He let out a small moan and leaned back against the chair. I laughed a little. He must not get many massages.... I purred and started to massage him a little harder, working into the tight spots on him, working out knots in his muscles. He reached out for a new envelope and opened it, pulling out a slip of paper and unfolded it. I smiled and focused on his massage while he read it, taking great care with him as I wanted to make him as relaxed as possible and make this enjoyable. After all, it's got to be rough for him to constantly read lots of letters and stuff about king business all by himself. I'm his first fledgling. I want to make sure I'm there for him like he wants to be for me. I purred and leaned a little into the massage, getting out another knot and hitting a pressure point on his back. He let out another soft moan before picking up his phone and I caught him dialing Everest's number before he pressed his phone to his ear.
"Everest, tomorrow night we'll be having guests for dinner." Lyle told him.
"Oh, okay. I'll tell the maids to set out extra places," I heard Everest purr into the phone. "Is that everything you needed Lyle?"
"They're going to have to stay the day as well. So prepare bedrooms. I also want you to get a journal and pens for my fledgling. If it's not too much of a bother."
"Of course~! I would love to get Milo a journal and some pens! I said anything, didn't I?" Everest laughed. "I'll even take him out for a day if you want some time to yourself anytime soon~ Show him the city as a vampire~"
"Pens and a journal will do. Just make sure things will be ready for our guests." Lyle told him calmly.
"Alright," Everest told him and hung up then. I smiled and then started to lean more into his back, putting my weight into the massage for him as I started on his upper lower back now. He sat his phone down and relaxed against my touch.
"Does this feel good?" I asked him sweetly, purring into his ear as I leaned in towards it.
"Yeah, that feels good." He reached up and grabbed my hand, rubbing it. I blushed a little then nodded.
"Mkay... I'll do this for you then when you work," I mumbled to him and then turned my attention back to my work, going to tug my hand away from his to continue. He let my hand go and went back to focusing on the papers. After awhile of this, I moved my hands back to his shoulders and started to massage near his neck and towards his front slightly, trying to get his shoulders good to get all the stress out of him, slipping my hands a little towards his chest. He grabbed my hands and looked towards me.
"That's enough. Go sit down." He looked me over then. I frowned slightly, not seeing the problem but I nodded.
"Okay," I whispered then smiled at him, pulling away before I bounced over to my seat and sat down on it then laid out on the couch. I wonder why he all of a sudden told me to stop? Maybe it doesn't feel good after a long time... or maybe he was wanting to read something sensitive.... Oh well. I sighed softly as I looked up at the ceiling, wondering exactly how high up it was. He pulled out a pen and paper from in his desk and started to write. I glanced his way and then smiled. So that's what it was.... He was wanting to write a letter. That makes sense. I'd want that to be private too. I rolled over onto my stomach and then looked around the room before I laid my head down and closed my eyes, deciding to get a nap in before he was done. He'd wake me up.... I heard the pen running against the paper as he wrote quickly. Must be important.... I smiled softly as I listened to it, the familiar sound lulling me to sleep.
Lyle's POV:
I felt the sun starting to rise over the horizon, making me more aware of the time. I finished up my last letter to be sent out then sorted everything for the maids to take care of during the day. They'd know by how I piled the papers. I looked up towards Milo and gave a pleasing purr to him. He fell asleep. That's very common for fledglings to do. Often unable to stay up full nights. It's part of the changing. I moved to my feet after finishing my piles and walked over to him. I reached down and scooped him up into my arms, starting for the door. It opened as a maid came in.
"I was just about to inform you of the time," she said quickly and held the door open for me. "Good day, King Lyle."
"Good day," I purred and started down the hall with Milo in my arms. As I walked down the hall, maids and butlers were closing curtains to prevent the light from getting in. Milo stirred slightly in my arms before he leaned his face into my chest, hiding his face from the lights of the hallways as he wrapped his arms around my neck instinctively, innocent looking as his body sighed softly and he breathed my scent in.
"King Lyle, we're getting the curtains closed as quickly as we can." A butler said as I passed him. "Stay out of the light- you're going to hurt your flesh."
"Don't worry, the sun isn't up yet and I'm on my way to my room." I told him.
"Lyle?! Is that you?" I heard Everest from behind me. I heard his footsteps racing after me. "What are you still doing up? You know better than that... if you got hurt, Silas would take advantage of it.... The sun could come up at any minute!"
"Why are you not in the bed?" I shot back. "I'm heading there now. You should be on your way as well." I looked towards him with a smile. He smiled at me.
"Fair enough," he said and then produced a black leather journal with a golden M sewn into it. "I got Milo his own journal and some pens," he told me and then slipped them into my pockets before he smirked and stole Milo from me. "Let me," he purred at me then watched as Milo instinctively curled up in his arms. "Aww, I see why you turned him. He's cute. He'll make a real good first fledgling for you. It's always better when they're adorable and innocent like that."
"Still young and tired from transforming," I heard Sylar say from behind us. "You two are up past dawn. Rebels."
"I had to put our sister to bed and get the notebook for Milo," Everest defended, giving a smirk. "You know she doesn't go to sleep very well unless she feeds and is tucked in."
"So I heard we're having guests tomorrow.... Who's coming?" Sylar wondered.
"I'll tell you tonight," I said softly. I looked towards Milo to check on him. He didn't seem to be taking to Everest like he did me, not even wrapping his arms around Everest's neck instinctively to avoid falling.
"You two need to get to bed," I warned them. "As your king, I order it. Hand over my fledgling and get going." Everest laughed slightly.
"No way! Let me walk you to your room as your brother, not your subject," he told me and smiled.
"I'd much rather you two head to your own rooms while I get to mine." I sighed out.
"Then send Sylar to bed. I can make it on my own," Everest hummed out then started to walk ahead of me with my fledgling.
"Sylar, go to bed." I told him firmly.
"Only because I'm wanting to." Sylar grumbled and walked away from us. I looked towards Everest.
"Are you sure?" I asked him. He looked at me and smiled.
"Yeah, what are brothers for? I'll carry him. You work too hard," he told me and then held Milo close. "Besides, I miss having a fledgling around me. All mine are grown and already left me."
"Well you should get a new one," I suggested and lead him towards my bedroom. "Go out sometime soon. I won't mind."
"It takes a while to find one like Milo though," Everest mumbled. He sighed as we reached my bedroom then looked up at me with a smile. "Take real good care of him, alright? Don't betray his attachment to you. If you lose it, it'll be gone forever."
"Everest, he's my first fledgling. He'll probably be my only one. I'm never going to let this one go so quickly." I stole Milo back and went into my room, shutting the door behind me. I walked over to the bed and laid Milo down in it then crawled in with him. He curled up into the bed and nuzzled his face against the sheets, a small smile playing on his lips before he leaned his head against my chest.
"Master," he mumbled in his sleep happily, curling up to my side. He called me master... In his sleep... I ran my fingers through his hair and closed my eyes, falling asleep with my sweet fledgling.
