Chereads / Reborn: To Save My Students / Chapter 73 - Drunktardness

Chapter 73 - Drunktardness

"You two want to join the Knight's Order?"

"Yes!" They both nodded.

Do they mean the Royal Knight's Order or mine? Hm…

"But why are you asking me?"

"Sir Grayson told us about the Knight's Order and he said that we should join. He told us that you are the leader of the Knight's Order and so here we are…" Liam looked at the sky as he spoke.

I looked at the both of them.

"Do you want to join the Knight's Order?" I asked wondering what Grayson intentions were.

Sure I wanted Liam and Graves to be in the Knight's Order but the only reason why, was because of my previous life. They save my students back then, so I owe them but is it wise to accept them now?

"Yes. Do it." My otaku self commanded.

"I concur." My logical self agreed.

Hm…

[Liam Farrow would like to join the Knight's Order. [Accept] or [Decline]]

Accept.

[Graves Highshot would like to join the Knight's Order. [Accept] or [Decline]]

Accept.

"Alright. Welcome to the Knight's Order." I stated with a smile.

"Cool!" Exclaimed Liam.

Graves simply nodded.

"Your captain is Marlos. He will be in charge of you."

"Marlos?" Asked Liam but then his eyes widened. "The pr-prince?"

"Yes though if you're too intimidated by him, you can just report to either Grayson or Loc."

"Okay… but what about our training? And… the tournament!" Exclaimed Liam.

"The Knight's Order as well as Baihu and the Shadow Legion are all my companies under confidentiality. You two will still be training and all that but will also assist whenever the Knight's Order or I calls upon you."

"Baihu and the Shadow Legion? Who are they?" Asked Liam.

""Can we meet them?" Asked Graves in a low deep voice.

"You'll meet them soon enough." I said as I lifted myself off the ground and stretched, I looked around and everyone around us were making their way to the courtyard. "Ah! It's finally lunch time. I wonder what's on the menu for lunch today?"

"Leader, we will see you at the second half of training today."

"Okay. See you guys then." I said and they saluted me before walking towards the tent areas.

Huh? I guess the recruits eat at the camp site whilst all the staff eat at the great dining hall.

I made my way to the great dining hall, following the mass soldiers, many of whom were moving slightly off from all the alcohol they drank.

I was informed by Grayson that the recruits actually train for the whole week, including the weekends but whilst the work days comprised of two training sessions, morning and evening, the weekend has only the morning session and after that they get to have the rest of the day off.

With that being the case this was why they got me to start on a Friday and not on a Monday.

I scratched the back of my head as I thought about all the early mornings I have to wake up at to head down to the training grounds. Sure being a teacher, I had my fair share of early mornings but this was on a whole new level. This was for twenty four seven.

Grayson told me that it isn't wise to take naps as it will lower my alertness and it just wouldn't look good if a teacher was late and the students have to wait. Military training is serious business where being unorganised or tardiness could label you as unworthy and be kicked out of the program.

Sigh…

As I entered the dining hall, I was greeted with a familiar delicious scent. I looked at each table and lined in rows were bowls. A chef wheeling a cart with a big pot on top, scooped liquid from the pot into each bowl as he passed each one.

Chatter echoed through out the hall and from the snippets of conversations I could make out, a swell of emotions thumped inside of me.

"Teach! Over here!" I heard Stella's distinct voice called out to me over all other voices.

As I got closer to the table my students sat at, I could hear some of the comments they made.

"Oh my god! Taste like Sunrise Story's wontons. So good!~" moaned Chloe.

"How did they make these? Aren't we in another world? There's no way they would know about this…" questioned Luke.

"Maybe one of us taught the chefs," replied Sam.

"So was it you who taught them Sam?" James inquired.

"Me? You crazy? My mum wouldn't let me step a foot back into the kitchen after I destroyed one of the stove tops when I tried to boil a pot of water…"

"Really? Boiling water is like the most easiest thing someone who have no experience could do." Laughed James. "If you failed even that then that says a lot about you…"

"About me what? Come on say it!" Sam eyes flared with anger.

"Alright calm down. James apologise to Sam please." Rain said in a authoritative voice.

"Sorry Sam…" James apologised.

"Sam? Don't be like this." Rain stared Sam down from where she sat.

This was the first time I've seen Rain take on the role as class monitor quite like this. Usually she would be dutiful but reserved now she's being more proactive with the role.

"Alright. I'll let this go…" Sam sighed.

"Well you guys are lively as always," I said as I scooted in between Stella and Rain. I looked at the bowl in front of me and raised an eyebrow.

I guess they changed some things. The smell of the broth is also different. They made it restaurant quality with a much clearer and flavourful looking broth and a much better put together bowl than the one I did. The thought that went into this… and I only showed them how to make it just yesterday… this is true dedication to their craft, amazing.

"Sir, did you teach them how to make this?" Asked Ann.

"Yes…"

"I didn't know you knew how to cook sir," Ann said with amazement in her tone.

"I uh, I can sort of… the one I made in the kitchens was homemade, it wasn't this fancy."

"Did you make everything from scratch? I don't think they have wonton wrappers in this world… or egg noodles."

"Yeah… I made them both from scratch. I knew the basic recipes for both and it's basic enough that they have all the ingredients in the kitchens for them."

"Sir, maybe you could make the same version you've made for them, for us?" Asked Hannah.

"Yeah, I agree," Kevin agreed.

"Eating this made me realise how fortunate we have it back home with all the cultures and cuisines. Ever since we came here I had never realised that I took all of it for granted." Said Luke as he ate a wonton.

"True that!" Jack agreed.

I tuned out for second on their little conversation so I could focus on the food in front of me before it gets cold. The enticing broth glistened as the oily fat coated my spoon. They made the heavier one… oh boy. I would've preferred the lighter broth right now considering that I just drank a stein full of alcohol but delicious food can't be wasted even if I feel like throwing up later.

I took the first spoonful in to my mouth and an explosion of flavour coated my whole mouth. I tasted the wontons and egg noodles next and they're basically perfect. The slices of pork were also melt in the mouth. I licked my lips and another hit of savoury flavour sent me out of reality.

"Oh it's the otherworlders, eating this disgusting slop I see."

And now I was back into reality... who the fuck brought me out of my happy place? I turned my head and saw a group of knights hovering over some of my students. Their speech was slurred and their movements were irregular. They're drunk. Are they some of the knights that just came from Haven? It was then, I heard another familiar voice.

"You guys seemed to enjoy this stuff, disgusting food for weaklings."

It was the same voice I heard back at the Haven that thankfully called Lawson away from me and Tavish.

"What did you say about this wonderful bowl of deliciousness from our world!" Shouted Ann. Her shout caused everyone in the dining hall to stop talking and looked over to us.

"We're drawing attention," whispered Chloe to Ann.

"So what! No one disrespect our world's cuisine this way and let's not forget our teacher who taught the chefs how to make it!"

My eyes widened as all eyes were on me.

"You put this filth into our chef's minds?" The guys speech was beginning to sound incoherent.

"What you calling filth." I said as I got off the bench.

"This slop."

I got a better look at them once I was facing them and I was surprised at the armour they wore. Their armour looked expensive as hell. They must be nobles and not only that but they look like trainees. They had a badge on them that indicated so. I had to squint to read their badge but it seems like it's the badge for the final year training for the guards. I guess the final years are allowed to eat at the dining hall and not at the training camp.

"I think they are drunk," whispered Hannah.

"They're allowed to drink? During the day?" Whispered James.

"I heard most nobles and officials have special privileges…" whispered Kevin.

I walked closer to them because they were close to where my students sat but as I did, I could smell the fumes of the dragon stone rum emitting from them.

"I suggest you guys to please move away from my students." I told them politely but they only tilted their heads. And someone from their group decided to move forward even further, he was nearly close enough to reach over and grab Hannah.

"I would stop if I was you," I told the guy who was now exactly behind her.

{"Don't worry he won't even lay a finger on her."} Lucifer's voice echoed in my head as I could faintly see shadows move along the ground.

The shadows surrounded the group and from what I could see two shadows were standing in between the guy and Hannah. I let out a small sigh of relief.

"There's no rule saying that we can't take one of these fine specimens. Danny go on and grab the girl, not even the prince can stop us!"

I could see flicker of shadow as they watched the guy called Danny moved his hand forward.

Hannah turned around and saw the hand reach for her and in a split second she backhanded his hand away with a loud slap.

"Who do you think you are?! Don't you dare touch me!" Hannah shouted.

This angered the guy and he lunged forward but before he did, Lucifer emerged out of nowhere and knocked the guy off his foot and onto the ground.

{"I see you like grabbing things, allow me to repay the favour."}

Lucifer grabbed the guy's head and smashed it into the ground. Blood pooled around the guy's head as there was a visible crater on the ground.

"What the fuck! Danny!" Screamed one of the guys.

"Where did this monster come from?" Asked another one.

{"I'm no monster. The pig on the ground who tried to take one of Master's dear students, is."}

"Master?" And the group glared at me, not only that but everyone else also turned their heads solely onto me. "This monster belongs to you?"

"His not a monster." I stated, "and I would watch your tongue if I was you. Your surrounded."

"Really?" The nobles looked around but then laughed as they couldn't see anyone.

It was then, out from the shadows emerged all of my leaders from the Shadow Legion.

{"Oh this is going to be fun!"} moaned Lucilia.

"Monsters!" Cried the group of nobles, their faces full of fear.

"Call these monster back! If you kill us, our families won't let you or your students live!"

"Wait! Don't kill them." A voice called out and I turned my head to see Valah walking towards us.
