Chapter 32 - Trials of Dungeons: First Dungeon part 5

The giants were so big, it's head touched the ceiling and there were five of those plus the 'overgrown pussycat' that hid behind them.

As soon as the giants was out of the ravine that they crawled out from, the ground shook once again as the ravine sealed itself.

"How are we going to fight those things?" Whispered Jemina.

"I don't know but what I do know is that, I do not want to be stepped on in this life..." Jask responded sarcastically as he stared at the legs of the giants cautiously.

"Wait... didn't your last girlfriend do that to you. If I remember it correctly, you told me and I quote, 'she placed a foot in my ass and in my mouth..." Bron replied to Jask but Jask cuts him off.

"You promised you wouldn't bring that up!" Shouted Jask to Bron's remark.

"Sorry..." Bron smirked as Jask narrowed his eyes at him.

"Hey, you two. Focus!" Tavish ordered, trying to get his team back in order.

"Yes sir!" Both of them saluted with all evidence of their bickering gone.

Tavish nodded then turned his head towards me.

"Boss, how do we proceed?"

As everything was going on... giants was rising from the ground and my company was freaking out, I on the other hand was busy looking at the shop. I thought it was the perfect time to look at it since, this trial was becoming relentless. We are about 10 hours in without having a single break... talking about difficulty. Did someone put this on hard or something?

[Time remaining: 13:56:27]

The first thing I noticed as I clicked on the shop tab was how futuristic it looked. Did Roha play video games up in the pantheon? There was an item displayed on the main page like all other in-game shops. The item in question was a shield that is made out of black ice, a material I've only read about in the books at the library.

The reason why it was called 'black ice' was because of the type of place it came from. It was interesting to see black ice made into an item since it was only documented in books. The author of the books didn't actually tell where the black ice can be found but that the author had found it...

I looked at all the other items displayed on the home page but not as big as the black ice shield, were somewhat interesting items to say the least.

An amulet that could capture one's soul, a potion that could emulate magic and the best one yet, a cloak that when draped over a dead person could bring that person back to life as a spirit... so a ghost?

I looked at the tabs on the side that says specific keywords or category of items such as 'damage' and 'weapons'. Two in particular keywords I wanted see were there.

'Cool down reduction' and 'energy regeneration'.

I wanted these two specifically because my skills are more utility based then anything. If I could lower the cool down of my skills and regenerate back my energy at a quicker pace then I could use them at will. I could use a helping hand and skill more frequently and without a high cost but the skill the would benefit more from CD reduction and energy regen was summon/recall.

I had an idea popped into my head when I used the skill to summon Baihu. What if in a fight, I could recall someone, then use communication network to tell that person what I wanted and then resummon that person to execute my order...

With the repositioning tool I could ask the person I'm about to summon to be ready to strike the target. Then I would reposition the summoning repositioning tool behind the target and then once my summon is summoned, the person would instantly execute the order. I could also recall anyone who is about to be in serious danger without waiting for the cool down to finish.

I took a quick look at the cool down specific items first since that's the one I needed the most. The 5 minute cool down timer is way too long... I need it down to at least 10 seconds.

There were a lot of items from weaponry to amulets that was categorised in the CD section. There was even a CD potions that you could drink to lower your CD. The most interesting thing about all of this was the cost. The currency in the shop is token based. From the description alone it was a straight forward system where you have three different coloured tokens.

The highest token is gold and to get gold tokens, you'll need ten silver tokens. To get silver tokens, you'll need 10 bronze tokens and to get bronze tokens, you'll need to earn 10 Exp.

I read the last part and then looked at all the Exp I gained, now that I'm level 19 and Baihu is at x2 multiplier. This meant that I must've gained over 20k of Exp, so with quick maths I should have twenty gold tokens in my balance. I looked at my current balance, to confirm and saw it was 24 gold, 5 silver and 4 Bronze. I smiled at the amount, thinking that I'm going to be rich until I noticed the cost of each item.

Everything was expensive! A single potion cost like 8 silver and that's the lowest cost I've seen so far...

I sighed as I pondered for a bit. The items I wanted to get are so expensive, I need the multiplier to work overtime to accumulate the cost for even 1 of the items. I decided with the gold I have now to just buy some equipment for my company.

After doing so and buying mostly cheap gear, I was down to 8 silver and 2 bronze....on the bright side, thankfully the rarity on some of these items were pretty good and the description sounded promising... so it wasn't a total waste.

Tavish stared at me, waiting for me to give an order. Instead of giving him one, I tossed the items I purchased earlier to the members of Baihu.

I gave Tavish a short sword that looked like the Japanese Tanto. Gunther received a pair of gauntlets that gets more powerful with every punch. Harlo received twin daggers that weaken's the opponent's defences with every strike. Jemina received a bracelet that amplifies all her skills by a percentage based on her level. Lavira, to her shaking head, received a pin for her hair that summons a shield that could block even the most powerful attacks or spells. Jask received a staff that's very conductive, all Jask have to do is use his electricity skills on the staff and boom every time he hits someone with the staff, all the voltage held within the staff will discharge. And finally, Bron received a shield.

"A shield?" Asked Bron confused. He looked at the others amazing new equipment and he got a shield that looked plain and in one colour, silver.

"It's more amazing then you might think it is."

When I saw the shield and what's it made out off, the first thing that popped into my mind was Captain America. The shield also had one special power that intrigued me and I wanted Bron to test it out.

"Try throwing your shield at the giants."

"Throw the shield at the giants?"

I simply nodded.

"Oh, I almost forgot, grip the side of the shield and try to use this movement when throwing."

I proceeded to demonstrate by showing him the discus throwing technique where I got into a stance and spun around and on the third spin, I released the imaginary disc.

Bron felt sceptical but did as he was told. He got into the same stance as me and spun around. On the third spin, he released the shield and it spun straight at the giant. But then something happened...

"What's happening? It feels like my gravity skill is activating!"

Sure enough his skill activated and the shield gained momentum. It flew so fast, I couldn't even see the detail on the shield anymore. The shield became a circular blur as it smashed into the first giant.

[Baihu has slain a giant. Baihu gains 1500 Exp.]

[You have gained 4500 Exp.]

[You have levelled up.]

[Congratulation! You have reached level 20.]

[You have unlocked story.]

Everyone's jaw dropped as the giant fell down and the shield flew back to Bron.

"Holy Shit Guys! Did you see that?!" Bron was elated as he looked down at the shield with newfound adoration. He then proceeded to rub his face along the shield as if he was marking it and then held onto it like Gollum from LOTR... as if to say 'my precious'.

"That shield took down the giant?" Lavira asked as she looked at the pin on her hand. Lavira then extended her hand with the pin on her palm. "What does my pin do?"

"Yeah! What does my staff do?! Does it act like a spear and I could throw it?" Jask asked as he twirled the staff in his hand.

I quickly explained to everyone what their new items do before the giants had time to process what had happened.

{Gotu!} one of the giant's boomed in a deep, low, gravely voice.

The remaining four giants, began their assault.

The giants threw punches and stomped their feet. The ground shook heavily as if there was an earthquake.

All of us fell down to the ground as the magnitude swept us off our feet's.

Jask held his staff tightly and infused it with his electricity skill. He then aimed the staff like he was throwing a javelin and flung it at the giants. The staff hit's the skin of a giant but was bounced off by it's hard skin. The staff fell but the electricity that was stored in the staff was released as it slid down the giant and shocked the giant to the ground. Smoke rose from the now burnt giant.

[Baihu has slain a giant. Baihu gains 1500 Exp.]

[You have gained 4500 Exp.]

[You have levelled up.]

Bron feeling excited from when he took the first one down, let loose his shield once more and struck the third giant but the shield bounced off it's skin. The shield, like it had a mind of it's own, repeatedly smashed itself into the giant. Every time the shield smashed into the giant, it would be bounced off without a single dent. The shield now acting like a child throwing a temper tantrum, repeatedly did the same thing over and over hoping for a result... but then a geyser of liquid spurted out from the giant. The giant rocked back and forth before it toppled over.

[Baihu has slain a giant. Baihu gains 1500 Exp.]

[You have gained 4500 Exp.]

[You have levelled up.]

The last two giants stood there stunned as they saw their fallen brethren's lying on the ground. One of the giants was bigger then the other, it must be the leader of their group. Not only did we have two giants to fight but the 'overgrown pussycat' too.

[Baihu has slain The king of werebeast, Rasuk. Baihu gains 7500 Exp.]

[You have gained 22500 Exp.]

[You have levelled up.]

[You have levelled up.]

[Baihu's multiplier is now at (x3)]

What the... How did the 'overgrown pussycat' die? Did he get squished under the last giant that fell? Welp, at least the 'overgrown pussycat' doesn't have nine lives and we finished the second wave, now it's only two giants to slay to finish the third.

I was surprised that three of the five giants fell down that easily just by the weapon's alone. The third one was a lot tougher as it outlasted multiple blows from the shield, the other two was down by one.

The last two giants however looked angry, very angry as steam billowed out from it's skin. Their skin turned red and their eyes had flames coming out of them.

{Argh! You dare kill my brothers?! Time to die!}
