I watched as Gabriel was fuming to the rest of the heirs. All the guy did was talk to me, and Gabriel flipped the lid. Even though I don't want to admit it, I'm terrified of Gabriel. The way his yellow eyes stare me down, and how dark and sinister his presence feels. My gaze traveled back to Gabriel and I saw Nesrin say something and whatever she said seemed to calm him down. He made eye contact with me before slowly making his way towards me. I had to physically restrain myself to not back away from him. Even though he's my Mate. He didn't tell me I was his Mate the first time we met! I don't understand how we can be Mates. Gabriel kept walking towards me until ours noses were practically touching. "Asena" He breathed "I'm sorry." Did the king of darkness and all evil things just say 'sorry' to me?? He must be kinder than I thought he was. "I-its ok" I stammered, not really liking how close he was to me. His yellow eyes narrowed in on me. I started to freak out a little, so I turned around and went to walk towards Amara and Nesrin. Gabriel's arm snaked around my waist and pulled me to him. My back pressed up against his chest. "Why are you so afraid of me?" Gabriel growled softly. My heartbeat quickened and I couldn't find my voice at first. "I'm not afraid" I whispered. Gabriel chuckled and leaned into my neck. "Then why does your heartbeat faster whenever I'm around? How come fear shines in your eyes whenever I look at you? Admit it, you're afraid of me." I inwardly screamed at how terrifying and hot he was at the same time. His grip on me tightened as I struggled and I sighed in defeat. "Fine! You win!" I grumbled. Gabriel smirked and slowly let me go. I fixed my wrinkled dress and glared at Gabriel. I don't know what to think of Gabriel. In the stories he's so horrific and cruel, but he was kind to me when He brought me home and he doesn't seem that cruel now. King Jared's voice broke through the chatter of the ballroom. "The princesses will now go to their new homes!" Thank you all for coming" He said with a smile. Everyone cheered in response. Me, Nesrin and Amara exchanged a look of horror. We're leaving, to our finances castle, and we're never going home. The three of us approached each other with tears trailing down our cheeks. "Bye" Amara mumbled. Nesrin said nothing except stare at the ground. We hugged tightly and everyone in the ballroom started making their way home. Nesrin cried harder when Lukas pulled her to him and left to Angel territory. Jack walked up to Amara and wiped her tears away before kissing her softly. Amara sniffed and didn't look back as she left to Warlock territory. I saw Jason and Eric walk towards me with their own tears. "I can't believe you're leaving" Eric whispered. Jason stared at me with puffy eyes. "He's taking you away from us" He said with anger. I sniffled "I know." Jason growled lowly as Gabriel came up behind me. "It's time to go" He said softly. I can't leave! I'm leaving my home, my Dad, my twin, my older brother, Kylie, and the whole werewolf pack. To live with a bunch of monsters. "I'm not leaving" I stated. Gabriel stiffened while Jason looked up hopefully. "Yes you are" Dad growled as he walked up to us. "No" I whispered. Dad narrowed his eyes. "Don't make me do this" Dad growled. I stared him down and waited for the worst. I don't care what he does, I'm not leaving. Dad stared back, when He realized that I wasn't backing down, he snarled "Take her away." Demons lunged at me and tackled me to the ground. I screamed and saw a roaring Jason and Eric being knocked out by werewolf soldiers. I locked eyes with Gabriel. His yellow eyes shone with guilt as he nodded to one of the demons that tackled me. I felt a sharp prick in my neck and everything went black.
---
Groaning, I opened my eyes to see me in a huge king sized bed with black blankets. The room I was in was huge and had black floors, walls, and curtains. Demons sure do love black. I looked down and saw that I wasn't in my gown anymore, I was in small black shorts and a large black t-shirt. Horror rose in my chest. Who changed me?! I jumped when the door of the bedroom opened and Gabriel strode in wearing black pants and no shirt. My face turned pale when I realized the shirt I was wearing was His shirt. "Where am I? What happened?" I croaked. Gabriel climbed onto the bed and gently laid me back down. "You need rest" He murmured. I tried to sit back up. Key word: tried. Gabriel growled threateningly and pulled me onto him so I was laying on him with my head resting on his chest. "Let me go!" I snapped "You took my away from my family, and my home!" Gabriel wrapped his arms around me so I couldn't move. "No, I brought you home" He growled. I ripped his arms off of me and stumbled out of the bed. "This isn't my home!" I spat "And it never will be!" Hurt flashed in Gabriel's eyes but I ignored it. "Let me go home" I begged "There has to be another way to keep the peace!" Gabriel blinked sympathetically. "This is the only way" He murmured. I snarled and looked away in frustration. Everyone says that it's the only way. There's got to be some other way. Then an idea started forming in my head. If there was no other way, I could sneak out tonight. I could find Jason and Eric and we could go live with the humans. Even Gabriel wouldn't think to look for me there. "I'd like to be left alone" I said firmly. Gabriel paused before shuffling out the door. After he left, I immediately got to work. I fumbled through the doors of a dresser near the bed and pulled out three shirts and four pairs of pants. I pulled out a bag from a closet and packed all the clothes into it. I didn't need to bring food, I could hunt after I left. A tall window was across the bed so I went over and sat in front of it, patiently waiting for it to get dark. Outside was black, dead trees. The clouds overhead were so black I thought it was smoke at first. Everything was dead. The ground was a dark grey color, there was no green grass anywhere. So the stories are true, everything here does look dead. The sun looked exactly like the moon except yellow and more brighter. I thought that the legend about there being no sun in Demon territory wasn't true. The yellow moon sank behind the trees and then it really got dark outside. It got so dark that I started to consider just staying put. I shook my head. No, I've made up my mind. I'm getting out of here. I grabbed my bag and tip toed out the door. The hallways were completely silent and dark. I squinted my eyes until they adjusted to the darkness. My footsteps sounded muffled as I walked down the hallway. I had no idea where the exit was, so I wandered around for about an hour before I found a tall black, wooden door. That looks like an exit. I gathered my courage and opened the door slowly. I did a silent victory dance when I finally left the castle. I was going home.
---
I was totally lost. I'm sure that I passed that black shriveled up tree three hours ago. Oh wait, EVERY TREE IS BLACK AND SHRIVELED UP. I was starting to get very frustrated, if you couldn't tell. I quickly realized that it got extremely cold at night in Demon territory. My teeth chattered loudly and I hugged myself tightly. I'm surprised I even got this far without Gabriel finding me. I thought that if I headed west, it would lead to werewolf territory. I somehow ended up somewhere deep in Demon territory. Wind whipped past me which caused me to shiver even harder. If I keep this up, I was going to die from the cold. The wind blew harder and I collapsed to the ground. My whole body was numb and my fingers were blue. A growl echoed through the trees and I saw Gabriel in a black wool cape. Gabriel's face was twisted in fury but then concern flashed in his golden eyes when he saw me shivering. "Asena!" He gasped. Next thing I knew, his black cape was wrapped around me tightly and I was being lifted up. Gabriel looked down at me with worry and started running back the way I came. "P-put me d-down" I whispered. I was too weak to do much. Gabriel didn't say anything except take off his black, knitted hat and set it on my head. White spots danced in from of my eyes as the cold swarmed around me. I savored the warmth coming off of Gabriel's chest. After about an hour of Gabriel running nonstop with me in his arms, we reached the dark castle. Dread rose in my chest. I didn't manage to get away. Gabriel silently carried me to a different bedroom. It was bigger and had a large fireplace on the side of the room. Gabriel set me down in front of the roaring fireplace and wrapped a large blanket around me. I stiffened slightly when Gabriel sat behind me and placed me on his lap. He entwined his legs with mine and wrapped his arms around my waist. "Don't ever do that again" Gabriel snarled. I frowned "You can't tell me what to do." Gabriel's grip on me tightened. "You're my Mate, you have to obey me" He growled. Fury coarse through me but I knew it was no use to keep arguing. He's the Demon king?! Why did I think I could get out of here? The only way I could make it through here alive is to just obey Gabriel. I stopped struggling in his arms and let him hold me. Gabriel seemed to sense my submission and started rubbing circles on my thigh. I tried not to flinch away and kiss him at the same time. The Mate bond was getting stronger the longer we were together and soon it would be impossible to resist him. Gabriel stayed silent for a long time. The only noise was the crackling of the fireplace. I wondered how Nesrin and Amara are doing in their new homes. I bet they're having a better time than I was. I yawned slowly and realized how tired I was. Gabriel didn't say anything except pick my up gently and carry me to the bed. "Um shouldn't I sleep in my bed?" I stammered. Gabriel set me down on the bed. "I'd rather you sleep with me, where I can keep an eye on you" He said while glaring at me. He was still mad that I tried to leave!? I tried not to freak out with the fact that he's making me sleep in his bed. Gabriel lifted the blankets over me and climbed into the bed next to me. I hoped that he would stay on his side of the bed. I decided to face him so I'd be able to protect myself easier that way. I wrapped the blankets around me tightly to keep me warm. My body was still slightly numb, but laying with Gabriel in front of the fireplace helped. Gabriel stared silently at me before grabbing me and pulling me into his chest. "Gabriel" I gasped. I punched his chest and wriggled me legs around, trying to get free. "You're still cold, you need body heat" Gabriel grumbled into my hair. I groaned in annoyance and Gabriel chuckled in response. I sighed dramatically and closed my eyes. Gabriel's breathing turned shallow. He must be asleep. I gently tried to pry his arms off of me. He didn't budge. I squirmed around desperately. Gabriel stirred and his golden eyes fixed on me. "What are you doing?" He asked bluntly. I glared up at him. "Trying to get away" I snapped. Gabriel growled threateningly and pulled me up so I was face to face with him. His eyes were blazing as he stared at me. "Sleep" He said. I raised an eyebrow "With you staring at me?" Gabriel smirked "Yeah." I rolled my eyes and turned around so by back was facing him. The bed shifted as Gabriel scooted closer and wrapped his arms around my waist. I tried not to flinch away when he entwined our legs. Gabriel laid his head in the crook of my neck and breathed in deeply. "I know you don't like me very much. But if we're Mates and getting married, don't you think you should give me a chance?" He asked softly. Should I give him a chance? He is my Mate and betrothed, I should at least learn to like him. As annoying as he can be, he is caring. Maybe I could at least play along until I found a way to get back to Jason and Eric."Ok" I replied quietly. Gabriel didn't move at first, but then he leaned over me and kissed me gently on my nose. At first I was angry that he would do that without my consent, but then I found myself blushing furiously. Gabriel smiled and lay back down. I could get used to this. I smiled softly and closed my eyes.
---
I slowly opened my eyes. I yawned loudly and almost expected Jason to laugh and say 'Loud mouth.' My heart sank when I remembered that I was never going to have that anymore. Gabriel shifted around behind me. "Good morning beautiful" He murmured sleepily. My heart fluttered. When I didn't say anything Gabriel sat up and hovered over me with a concerned expression. "What's wrong?" He asked. I shook my head "I'm just tired." Gabriel raised an eyebrow "You're lying." I glared playfully at him. "I was just thinking about home" I admitted. Gabriel's face softened and he lifted me up and hugged me tightly. "I can't promise anything, but maybe I can arrange for you to meet with Eric and Jason soon?" Gabriel suggested while burying his head in my neck. I jumped back, gaping. "Really?" I exclaimed. Gabriel nodded and I started jumping around the room excitedly. Gabriel chuckled "If I knew that would make you this happy, I would've done it a long time ago." I laughed as Gabriel stood up. I choked and turned around. Gabriel was shirtless and it caused me to turn bright red. "What's wrong?!" Gabriel asked as he ran over to me and grabbed my shoulders. I looked away when I caught a glimpse which caused Gabriel to look even more worried. "Please put a shirt on" I mumbled. Gabriel laughed and smirked mischievously "Nervous are we?" I spun on my heel and sprinted for the bathroom before I could lose my bearings. I closed the bathroom door and I heard Gabriel growl softly. "Asenaaa" He whined. A smile creeped up my lips and I slowly opened the door a crack. "Come out" Gabriel pouted. I snorted with laughter and walked out of the bathroom. I smiled when I saw that Gabriel slid on a black t-shirt, but I was also disappointed. A soft knock was heard on the door, and after Gabriel grunted permission to come in, a tall guard came in. "King Gabriel, Queen Asena" He bowed "Breakfast is ready." Gabriel nodded and slipped a hand to my lower back and guided me out the door and down a long dark hallway that causes goosebumps to creep along my skin. The guard quickly followed behind us. "It's a pleasure to meet you Asena" The guard said cheerfully. I gave him my best smile and followed Gabriel into the dining room. But there was already a woman sitting there, with her legs cropped up on the table carelessly. She was wearing a black belly shirt and was so beautiful that it made me feel like a troll. She smirked evilly when her gaze met Gabriel. "Gabriel! You're back!" She exclaimed. She glanced at me "Why are you with a disgusting dog?" She sneered. I flinched back and clenched my hands into fists. "She" Gabriel snarled "Is your future Queen." The woman gasped and glared at me with fury. "Why would you marry her? We are already together! Are you cheating on me?!" She growled. My eyes widened and I looked to Gabriel. When I saw guilt and pain in his golden eyes, I slowly started backing away. "Asena-" He started. I shook my head quickly and sprinted out the door, ignoring Gabriel's calls. He already had a beautiful girlfriend, why would he want me? One thing was for sure, I was not going to marry him. Ever.
