The habitat of the next spider was like a swamp of larva but instead of trees it had rocks extending up to the center like a cage. It was sunny even though it was probably passed 19:00 in earth time. Webs and cocoons were all over the place just like in the previous habitat.
Instead of bridges, this time around inside the larva was pillars formed of rock, stepping stones of sorts. The larva was swirling around and around, releasing blasts of heatwaves after every once in a while. This spider looked like a black widow with a dash of RPG upgrades. Everything about it screamed, "you don't want none of me," smoke escaped with every one of its breaths.
I did not like the feeling it gave off at all because I could not adapt to its breathing, rhythm is key to this fight. I am not superior in any way to this monster in front of me and when it comes to using the surroundings to my benefit I am at the end of my schemes. I am not afraid at all, I still have a life to spare so maybe I do not need to rip apart my mind that much over this fight.
I am not saying I am going to be careless though, how else will I be able to make a feasible plan like that. Welp I might as well look around since these things seem to attack only when provoked or threatened. Judging by how this guy is not reacting to how I just brutally killed off his associates I could guess that it is a female spider and she was going to kill them anyway.
Also, it has kept its eyes on me the whole time I have been here. Drooling all around itself and its drool was the complete opposite of the ice spider's, it melted whatever it came in contact with. Logically this would mean that its webs were also that potent, now onto the armor surrounding it. Charcoal, it was charcoal from what I could gather and the black widow symbol on its back was glowing red.
'As long as I don't provoke it I should be okay, haha, I am so dead.' I thought and chuckled. It can't be helped one way or the other I have to escape and get home. The spider reacted to my hostility by letting go of the ceiling and implanted its long 8 legs in the ground. "IT HAS WINGS?" I have to admit that at this point I was scared shitless, the black widow's command over its webs made me feel like I was done.
My first plan was not to get dragged into the stepping stones and instead drag it out here for up-close combat. So I ran to the widest side which was my right and what would come next showed me that I still had a long way to go before I could call myself a fighter. It shot its web in front of me and caused a tiny explosion that blew me back a few inches.
I had no time to sit down and rethink my strategy because the thing was going bananas at me. As much I would love to bask under the heavy hit of those webs my life was much more important to me. The spider had me dodging for a few minutes before it decided to get closer to me. This was a trigger and a boost I needed to get faster and annoy it much more.
It got closer and closer making it harder to dodge its attacks so I pulled out the first cold artifact I bought. It was a scroll containing a spell that could be used twice in two different ways the first was to deflect an attack. The next part was an instant freeze on direct contact. After deflecting an attack the scroll would fall on the spot of equilibrium and wait like a trap for either party, it will freeze even the caster.
I have just used it and this spider jumps from one huge stone to the other so I targeted the only stone large enough to hold him in the tiny distance separating me from her. It was about time she tried to cocoon me so she should be heading this way sometime soon.
I was breathing painful air that tasted like pain, I wish it tasted like blood but I was so beat up I was numb to it. My blade was my clutch and last option, thinking about the ability I created with it made laugh out miniacally waiting for my first victim.
The spider was still frozen as I gave myself this internal monologue, I knew that it was not dead because I haven't received the results yet. Every sip of the potions felt like swallowing rocks but I did not have a choice the void was not healing me fast enough.
The black widow broke from her ice prison and almost turned the habitat into a death sauna, just right enough to cook someone. Laone came into this challenge with a mask and some tracksuits, now he was clutching on to dear life with an almost completely torn t-shirt and his boxers.
{BEAR WITH ME HERE}
When the spider was slashed by the modified blade, the splashing blood froze all the way from the tip of the dagger to the wound. It disabled the spider's other leg, noticing that by addressing that it would be giving Laone an opportunity for an attack it decided to ignore and use the others. This sider might seem stronger than the last one but it was not a chimera so it was not humanoid and it became her biggest weakness against Laone.
It fired webs at Laone but he iced most of them, the ones that were unfortunate enough to hit him made him bolder and bolder He gave in to his perverted side and as he gave in to the void the ice tentacles grew from his back. Blue wavy and slimy they released a lot of gang energy, that even if inferior to the black widow's terrified it.
The widow realized that she cannot fight the way she was against this wild card who was starting to freeze her over. As a last resort she shot him with some poison and killed him instantly. Using the small time that she just bought for herself she melted the ice and tried fleeing the scene. Laone respawned above her and he (in his normal state) smiled at her. All of her eight eyes picked up this sadistic smile and every cell in her body screamed out in horror.
Laone activated the gemstone that made something translucent above the spider, he also stabbed the gemstone shattering it instantly. The shard turned into pillars of ice that killed the spider instantly, Laone dived in and ate it.
It worked, I actually killed it with refraction. I was nervous at first but it actually worked. The gemstone used to make things translucent has another ability to it and that is to magnify, this is an ability that can be easily overlooked because it requires a lot of patience to actually learn it. The spider along with the shards allowed light through them, the light which was refracted by the ice shards caused them to melt.
The ability of my dagger is to ice anything that flows, meaning that the liquid would now be turned into ice again but this time at a much bigger quantity. But the light never stops coming, when it returns and touches the translucent shards and it becomes refracted and magnified melting the already made ice shards which will then splash and get iced again. All of this happened at light speed until the translucent ability of the gemstone died out.
This would have failed if the icing ability was slower than light, and I would have also died if the widow dragged me under the stone. This time though I saw the notification:
[YOU HAVE CREATED AN 8 DIAL]
[NAME YOUR 8 DIAL]
Of cause I ignored and instead watched the giant presence I have been running from approaching me. I wanted to run but curiosity sat me down, it reached out to me and carried me up. My eyes gave out and when I woke up I was on the floor of my bedroom still as messy as I was.
I gave none of the notifications a chance to inform me of anything and went to take a shower. Just like I had guessed earlier it was dark outside, my mother probably looked for me and flipped out. As the water from the shower embraced me I felt my whole body relax, what's more I had no scar on me boasting the harsh experience I just went through.
Oh, I did my hair had changed its color and I was in a hurry to shower so that I could dye it black. Sigh, I wonder what fate has in store for me after this. As usual I am torn, a part of me is excited to the point of foaming at the mouth. While the part which is seen by the whole world around me is terrified.
