Lux took a deep breathe, pacing the length of his room. His muscle clenched and unclenched, and he was sure his gray eyes was flickering between deep silver and black. He really hated not being in control.
Today was his coronation and things were already going haywire. If only- If he had her, they wouldn't dare. They wouldn't, couldn't even try to oppose him.
The power that transferred to him wasn't a problem at all, after all, it was only a formality. He had been ruling the clan for about five years already. And now, now, the council of the Sky wolves had given him two years to find his mate. Like it was his fault he hadn't found his soul-bounded.
He stopped, leaning against the brick fireplace, the fire casting a warm glow on the room, even as it kept it warm. It was surprising and annoying he hadn't found his mate yet. His father found his when he was sixteen and his father before him, had known his since he became aware of his wolf.
He disliked things not going according to his plan, every action he was going to take was all sketched out in his mind. Except this one thing he couldn't control.
His fist clenched as he tightened his jaw. It was a really sticky situation as the clan needed their Luna for stability, not just for the future alpha, which was the primary function, but also for those matter he wouldn't be able to attend. Mostly taking care of women and children, or whatever his mother got up to. Maybe she could even take care of tougher stuff like his aunt, but he didn't let himself hope.
If his mother had shown him anything, it was that after giving an heir, he shouldn't be surprised if all whoever she was, did was host parties and get on his nerves.
He put his hands in his pocket, a wrinkle forming on his forehead as he groaned aloud. He was twenty-one already, and while he was strong, the strongest alpha currently alive, even he couldn't hold off the council for long. He could only imagine what they would get up to if he didn't meet their ultimatum.
He walked over to his window and looked outside. His room over looked the courtyard of his manor and he could see the rosebushes. He hated them, he also had to be extra careful if he jumped out unless he wanted thorns in his skin.
Unfortunately, he couldn't get them to cut it down as it was his mother's favorite, and the only thing he hated more than the thorns was her whiny voice.
His favorite view was the fountain. It was located at the center of the courtyard, very large with a growling wolf statue at the top. It was made of marble and look a considerable amount of space. But its beauty made up for what he saw as a waste of land.
However, even watching the spray of glittering water couldn't improve his mood. He removed his socks and laid down on his king size bed, the dark blue velvet extremely comfortable, as dark hair rested on his silk pillow.
He tried to ignore the naked girl on his bed, Lilia, she had called herself. He wanted her out of his room but wasn't willing to go through the trouble of ejecting her himself.
Some might think he was cruel, but they had a mutual arrangement, it was a one night thing only and the sun had risen. Why wasn't she awake already?
He closed his eyes and sighed again, None of the women in his clan were his mate, he had searched and searched for years. It wasn't easy in a clan of 123,583, no 123,584- Mrs Mayre had her boy yesterday. But he had done it with the diligence he put into everything he did.
He needed a drink, but he couldn't afford to not be alert.
He groaned again.
Maybe it was time to open up more to other people. His clan had always been closed, and only few people were allowed to pass through the border, and usually they had to pass through an hefty process.
He could host a bunch of parties and invite people from all over the seven clans. The harvest festival was coming up, their wolves would be more aware, so it would be nearly impossible for him to miss her if she was present. And she must be present, he refused to consider the alternative
A corner of his lips lifted up as the plan solidified. He wondered how many of the clans would be willing to spend the sacred holiday on his land as most were skeptical of him, as they should be. He wouldn't give them much of a choice though. They knew not to refuse him when he was serious about something.
He placed his hands over his face pushing his chestnut hair back before spring back to his feet.
He moved across the room with renewed purpose, he was going to find his mate, he had to, and when he did- He briefly wondered if she would want him, but he erased the thought as quickly as it formed- that was probably just his wolf anyway. It was a partnership, one that would be desirable to both parties. She would have to accept him.
A small smile place upon his lips, the most he allowed himself at the best of days. He could feel his wolf wanting to come forth as he grew excited, he straightened to all 6'3ft of him as he strutted out of the door, his black pant fit around his waist, first he would have to inform everyone to make preparations.
He paused before turning back to take his shirt from his wardrobe made of oak wood, buttoning up the shirt as he padded barefoot across the wooden floor.
Then, it was time for a run.
