The sun began to set; Angel rushed towards the city with Cley and Claire on his arms. Some 'Blood-Eyed Rabbit' appeared on the side of the road and jumped towards them. He kept running as his dark aura reached all the monsters and lifted them. In a second their bodies blew up in the midair, leaving only their blood splashing to the ground.
He was breathing hard when he arrived at the city gate. He put down the kids and swept his gaze around but he didn't find anyone there.
Only a few seconds later some people in black military uniforms approached with their weapon pointed to him.
"Hey you! Why are you still here?! Go to the city square now!"
Mayor Bernard quickly hugged Cley and Claire, tried to protect them.
His dark aura started to leaked out as he ready to beat them but he held himself, since there's Mayor Bernard and the kids with him. He knew his actions would not only affect him.
'I can't let them get involved.'
"Are you deaf?! I said go to the city square now!" snapped one of the troops as he pushed him roughly.
He walked to the city square with Mayor Bernard who kept hugging the kids beside him.
Once they arrived at the city square, many people had gathered kneeling.
"Hey you! Come here and kneel!" said one of the troops who guarding the crowd.
They joined the crowd and down to their knees. He took a glance to Cley and Claire who looked scared on Mayor Bernard's arms.
"Uncle Bernard... What will happen to us?" Cley said in fear.
Mayor Bernard looked at them worriedly.
"Cley, Claire... Listen to me... Whatever happens next you can't shout, you can't call your father and mother either. Understand?"
They looks confused with his words but they still nodded in replied.
He gasped as he realized what will happen next, he looked around tried to make some plan but wherever he looked at there's always Euphorion troops with weapons pointed to some civilians. If he acted rashly they wouldn't hesitate to kill them.
'Dammit! They blended with the civilians, I can't use my power.'
Shortly, Chay and Avira who were already tie up were forcefully pulled in front of them and thrown to the ground by one of the troops. Mayor Bernard quickly covered the kids' eyes and ears as he tighten his hug.
"Today, I will give an example, what will happen if you dare to defy the king's orders!" said one of the troops who have a lieutenant badge on his collar. He took out his sword and began swinging it blindly towards both of them.
Screams of pain could be heard, Angel tried to get up and almost pulled out his sword as he can't contain his anger any longer but he was held by Mayor Bernard who knelt beside him.
"If you attack them, the king will surely send more troops to destroy this place." he said with sad expression, his hands continued to hug Cley and Claire who were trembling in fear, their faces already wet with tears.
Mayor Bernard is right, if he acted now he only give the king more reasons to destroy the city or worse... Slaughter all the civilians who live here. He returned to his knees, his hands clenched in anger and could only watch them fall motionless.
The Lieutenant pointed his sword towards the crowd.
"I will give you a day to collect all your valuable belongings at the city hall! If anyone tries to defy the king's order, they will be meeting their fate like them!" he said as he shifted his sword to the dead bodies beside him, then he left followed by the other Euphorion troops.
As soon as they left, the kids immediately ran over to their parent's lifeless bodies and hugged them.
"Daddd!!! Mommm!!! " they screamed while sobbing.
Angel stood behind them as he stared at them. He felt like a failure, he just promised to Lucian to take care his kingdom, his people. But what he had done? He could only watch them slaughtering his assistant in front of him.
"Mayor... Can I leave them with you for a while? After I'm done, I'll take them with me."
Mayor Bernard looked at him with puzzled expression.
"Where are you going?"
His eyes turned piercing cold.
"To the capital... I will kick that stupid king from his throne." he said as he left.
