Chapter 226 - Books?

Glancing at Nyssa and Dagen, Arthur gave the pair a once over before letting out a small breath, and pretending to appear wistful.

"I presume that the two of you want to talk about something. Don't beat around the bush, just tell my what you want".

The two fifteen year old Fae Masters both nodded, before Dagen spoke up first. Arthur had already partially discerned what they wanted to talk about, although the exact details would need to be ironed out.

He had just given them all a speech about Fae Master specializations last night, and now these two wanted to "talk". Even someone as thick-headed as Borik would be able to see what was going on.

"Last night, after the discussion about Milena's Corpses and the Dusk Vine Revenant that you created, I.... well I didn't get that much sleep".

Dagen paused for a moment before continuing his train of thought.

"Milena and I both use Poisons, however, she uses Corpses in order to nurture new forms of Poisons. I on the other hand, only use blood offensively and add a poisonous attribute to it, in order to increase its killing power. I researched some methods of creating poisons with Milena, however the main focus of my style is just to use blood offensively, not poison offensively.

"After hearing your words last night, I realized that there existed a much more varied world of Fae Masters. Iryna has her Transformation Specialization, while Henrik has his Metal Specialization and Parvan uses his Earth Attributed Fae to defend the rest of us. I don't feel as though I could properly develop my own abilities so long as I continue down the path I am currently walking.

"I don't quite truly understand the differences between taming Ghosts, spirit beasts, spirit plants or Corpses or Zombies, but I'd like to at least try my hand at researching them. Perhaps use different types of blood from different creatures in order to create something new? A poison or some sort of new living creature, like you did last-".

Arthur raised his hand and shook his head.

"What I did last night Dagen was not create a new ghost. I merely evolved an existing one. Creating something new, something out of nothing, solely belongs to Rank 9 Fae Immortals. They are the only realm in existence that can create Fae, Fae materials, and even influence heavenly laws. However.... if you desire to learn, I can show you the right path".

Arthur took out a Storage Fae and retrieved a book from within it. It appeared extremely old, with slightly yellow pages, whose leather bound cover had been worn out, its title and author illegible with the passing of time.

Everything, with the sole exception of the contents, was completely and utterly fake. If Arthur tried to get this appraised, the appraiser would take one look at this "treasure" and smack Arthur all the way out the front door.

But to Dagen.... it was akin to a priceless treasure.

Arthur pointed to the book and handed it towards Dagen.

"I don't understand much about forging or Blacksmithing, however I found this book alongside the variant . It's just a beginners introduction into Forging, and I'm pretty sure its relatively common in the Thirty Three Heavens. Although, there are some little connotations inside, so you might be able to gain more insights thanks to the book's previous owner".

Arthur extended his hand forward, as if to give the book to Dagen, but pulled back for a second, pretending to appear cautious.

"If someone asks you about the book Dagen, what do you say?".

The fifteen year old paused for a moment and tilted his head to the side, his voice slightly croaky and his expression a little embarrassed.

"Um.... what book Arthur?".

His slightly older teacher nodded, handing the book on forging towards him. The Blood Specialization Fae Master took it into his arms eagerly, heading to a quieter side of the practice field in order to start reading it.

Arthur suppressed a smile before turning towards Nyssa, his expression slightly.... curious.

Out of all of them, perhaps Nyssa had the easiest path to travel. Like Iryna, she was a Transformation Specialist Fae Master, but one that was born with a White Devil Fae as an Origin Fae.

It transformed her physique to match that of a White Devils, however did not change her body parts, with the sole exception of the white horns on her head. If she followed this traditional Transformation Path and studied Transformation Attributed Fae, then out of all nine of them, she would have the easiest time progressing.

Devil Transformation Fae were rare within the Azure Envy Continent, so theoretically her progress would be hindered slightly, but so long as she could find a way to travel to the other Continents, she would undoubtably flourish.

The fifteen year old girl, bit her bottom lip, before lowering her head slightly.

"I want to study Ghosts".

The tension in the air increased, as a faint breeze wafted through the practice field. Arthur's and Nyssa's hair ruffled slightly, although neither party made any gesture or movements to try and fix it.

"Why?".

Arthur gave her a once over, narrowing his eyes slightly as he watched her every move,

The young girl blushed slightly before lifting her head and gazing up into Arthur's eyes. The pure, unadulterated affection could be seen within her eyes, and the innocent expression of a maiden in love would've caused the vast majority of hearts to move, or twinge with compassion.

But like a uncaring blizzard, Arthur's heart remained cold.

"The vast majority of your Fae are either Bone Attributed or Blood Attributed. Both are far more suitable to nurture Corpses, Skeletons, Zombies or even some spirit beasts. Spirit plants that use those two Attributes are extremely aggressive in nature and would compliment you nicely, and yet you still want to study Ghosts?".

The girl nodded, her expression resolute.

Arthur could see within her eyes that her desire to learn about ghosts had stemmed from his own knowledge and wisdom about them. The glint in her eyes wasn't like the expression of adoration that Milena had for his Dusk Vine Revenant, but a passionate desire to get closer to him.

Such a desire would often burn brightly, yet shortly. Yet her hopes and dreams never once faltered, even after knowing that Arthur could never belong to her and her alone....

Arthur narrowed his eyes slightly before shaking his head and letting out a small sigh.

Just like he did for Dagen, Arthur retrieved a book, this one without the ancient appearance that the previous one did.

Pure and simple, it was titled: "Introduction in the World Of Myriad Ghosts Vol. 1".

It was a book that was created two or three Eras ago, and to this day these Volumes were still being updated. Never once had the ever present march of time stopped, and never once had the desire for knowledge in sentient creatures also halt.

The young fifteen year old eyes widened and she lifted her head, clutching the book in her arms with an enormous smile on her face.

Before Nyssa could say anything, Arthur opened his mouth to speak.

"Within the next ten days I want you to create any type of ghost, with the potential of at least Remnant-class. I don't care how you do it, what Attributes it possesses, or even what materials you use. You are not allowed to request help from anyone else. You are not allowed to borrow Fae either. Additionally. You also have to keep it under 500 origin essence stones. Anything more than that, and it'll have to come out of your own pocket".

"Is that understood?".

Nyssa nodded vigorously, clutching the book in her arms as if it was a precious lifeline.

"I promise you Arthur! I won't let you down!".

The girl retreated back to another corner of the practice field, leaving Arthur alone underneath his large tree, surrounded by nothing than grass and leaves.

He didn't know it at the time, but he had just saved his own life.
