Arthur nodded slightly, seeing how Dagen made use of the Rank 2 Blood Poison Fae.
There was a reason as to why Arthur picked him, other than just his talent and his easily influenced personality. He was a second-tier talent, but like Arthur was a bottom tier second-tier talent, someone with only a 203% origin essence sea.
However.... he was born with something special.
Just like Andrea with her inborn Sovereign Boundary Physique; Boundless Forest Yearning, or the Purple Blood Physique gained from the purple blood gathering tree, Dagen was born with a certain type of Physique.
It was a pretty common talent that Fae Masters awakening in the scheme of things, but, within the Kovacs Clan it was an extremely rare occurrence. Other than Arthur, no-one else had realised the potential within Dagen.
His Physique was called, the Crimson Vein Physique.
Essentially, what it did, or what it allowed to do rather was increase the quantity and quality of an individuals blood, to the point where it increased physical attributes. The origin essence that flowed throughout Dagen's body was a step higher than anyone else of the same Rank, except against someone with a Sovereign Boundary Physique.
It may seem powerful, but it just increased quality of Dagen's blood and origin essence. It didn't speed up cultivation, but allowed one to cultivate without having to worry about having a shaky foundation.
The only way to see whether a person had this Physique or not, was to check the colour of their veins. Those with the Crimson Vein Physique all possessed crimson coloured veins.
Dagen might be slightly weaker than the others in terms of Fae usage and physical strength, but due to the powers of the Crimson Vein Physique, he could use the quality of his blood to increase the powers of his Blood Attributed Fae.
It was like attacking a person with a kitchen blade, then finding a sharpened butchers knife and switching to it.
It didn't just do more damage, but it was also crafted better.
That was why Arthur wanted Dagen. He would take everything he had, and then some.
Dagen smiled slightly gazing at Kristof who was slightly out of his range. The power of his blood, in addition to the Rank 2 Blood Poison Fae was extraordinary. It could even melt this stone platform with just a single blood lance.
This was the only Rank 2 Fae that Arthur had given out. It was quite precious, although in his hands the Fae would only just go to waste. He did use some Blood Attributed Fae, but only to supplement his main Fae. The blood poison fae's full effects would blossom in the hands of Dagen.
Kristof bit his bottom lip, his scaled figure just outside the range of Dagen's blood lances.
Dagen took slow, steady steps forward, noticing that Kristof took steps back to avoid even the prospect of getting hit up poisonous blood.
'Fuck! How the hell is that Blood Poison Fae so strong!? Is it some sort of variation Fae?... Wait, it couldn't be a Rank 2 Fae could it?'.
The origin essence expenditure would be extremely high, especially for just a vapour quartz origin essence Fae Master. Theoretically, Dagen should only be able to use it once before he would completely run out of origin essence.... right?
Kristof glanced at the blood lances hanging just beside Dagen, noticing the faint dripping of crimson coloured liquid onto the platform below.
Kristof noticed that most of the blood didn't sizzle and melt the the platform, only spilling droplets of crimson ink onto the yellowish white stage beneath them.
Only one of the blood lances actually caused damage, the rest was just normal blood.
'Ah.... so he only uses it on one blood lance.... even with that, the amount of origin essence that it would use should be enormous, so he's trying to hide it amongst the blood lances'.
Kristof felt his foot connect with the edge of the stage, causing his posture to stiffen slightly and Dagen to grin as he kept walking forward.
"I hope you can dodge this Kristof!", he shouted.
Dagen waved his arms, sending the crimson coloured lances hurtling towards Kristof at the edge of the ring.
The burly young man's eyes widened, and he gritted his teeth and he ignored his instincts, and charged forward with his arms raised.
He didn't want to do this, but Kristof activated the only other Fae in his possession, summoning a brightly coloured turtle shell, which expanded right in front of him.
The faintly glowing turtle shell came into contact with the numerous blood lances that Dagen shot forward, splattering an enormous amount of blood all over the surface of the shell. The impacts sounded like the ringing of a bell, and echoed all throughout the stage and crowds.
Kristof almost felt his knees buckle under the immense pressure of these blood lances. If this was any other person using the normal Blood Lance Fae, it wouldn't have anywhere near as much power or velocity behind it.
This Ice Turtle Shell Fae in Kristof's possession formed a transient Ice Attributed Turtle Shell in front of him. It could be used to compliment the Ice Turtle Transformation, but it only made Kristof appear more like hybrid of a lizard and turtle, his freezing aura slowly causing tiny little snowflakes to fall off the shell.
But then-.
Another blood lance impacted the ice turtle shell, and within the time it took to blink, Kristof lifted the massive defensive type Fae and threw it towards Dagen.
His fingers trembling slightly as a brightly coloured crimson liquid melted the skin on the tips of his fingers. Dagen's eyes widened and his mouth dropped at Kristof's tactics, but he only moved to the side and avoided the blood poison covered ice turtle shell and turned back towards Kristof-.
Only to be forced to activate his blood lance fae once more in order to form a shield right in front of him. Another wave of ice breath came shooting his way, and the young man gritted his teeth as he noticed Kristof slowly walk towards him.
The only time Kristof had the upper hand in this battle was at the beginning when he first made us of his ice breath fae. He had pinned down Dagen, causing him to go on the defensive, which eventually got turned around on him as Kristof froze Dagen's blood lances.
He became slightly wary of Dagen using his own Fae abilities against him, but knew that this was the only way he had a chance of winning.
Even though his hands were burning, and his lungs crying out, Kristof kept walking forward, uncaring about his origin essence expenditure.
When he finally arrived in front of Dagen, the burly fifteen year old raised his scale covered fist and smashed it down over the blood lances that protected him. Just like in the previous match, Kristof ignored the sizzling that came from his hands, and only grabbed Dagen by the shirt, slamming his forehead down on his opponents nose.
A huge amount of blood spurted out of Dagen's broken nose, as the young man clutched his face, tears forming in his eyes.
The only problem was-.
"Argh! It burns! It burns!".
All the blood that spurted out of Dagen.... was affected by his Blood Poison Fae.
Kristof felt the skin, muscle and flesh in his arms burn, as the bone beneath it all was revealed to the world. The pain that he was currently experiencing, far exceeded the the pain that Dagen was currently feeling.
Still clutching his broken nose, Dagen stood up, raised his one free hand and smashed it down on Kristof's face. Even though Kristof could've easily pushed him back with his larger figure, he had already passed out from the pain.
Only the sound of a bloodied fist, colliding with a battered skull echoed throughout the arena. The cheers and screams of support had been silenced by the referees trying to pull of Dagen from Kristof's unconscious body.
Arthur smiled, nodding slightly.
"Well.... that was certainly eventful".
