Chapter 102 - Four Winged Storm Hawk

A loud voice cut through the trembling earth.

"Knight Ranked spirit beasts spotted! River Walker Deer! Honey Leaf Bear! Water Night Wolf! Rain Travelling Wolf! Violet Condor! Four Winged Hawks! Flame Essence Foxes!".

"Lord Ranked spirit beasts spotted! Essence Leaf Bear! Water Shadow Wolf! Lightning Travelling Wolf! Four Winged Wind Hawk!"

"Baron Ranked spirit beasts spotted! Wood Leaf Bear! Four Winged Storm Hawk! Lava Essence Fox!".

The scout announced the oncoming spirit beasts to the rest of the Kovacs Clan Fae Masters.

The Elders, with their experience, nodded slightly before waving their their arms towards the their Rank 2 groups of Fae Masters.

"Ignore the Baron Ranked spirit beasts! Leave those to the rest of the Elders! Your aim is to kill all the Lord Ranked spirit beasts as well! If you must, leave those Knight Ranked spirit beasts and let them enter the town! We have groups of Rank 1 Fae Masters who can kill them!

"The vast majority of enemies are either Wood Attributed spirit beasts or Water Attributed spirit beasts! Use Fire Attributed Fae or Wood Attributed Fae to counter them! Metal Attributed Fae works best as well!

"Do not activate any of the traps until we say so! Is that understood!?".

All of the Fae Masters nodded, shouting out from the bottom of their lungs.

"We understand!".

The Elder nodded before glancing towards another Elder who nodded slightly before gazing back at the Baron Ranked spirit beasts.

They were much smarter than any of the Knight Ranked or Lord Ranked spirit beasts, so they stayed at the rear, waiting for their attacks.

They could tell that the Humans had set up traps all around the field, so they wanted the Knight Ranked and Lord Ranked spirit beasts to activate them, and safe them the trouble of having to worry about being sneak attacked.

From what the Fae Masters could see, there must've been thousands, if not tens of thousands of spirit beasts charging towards them.

The vast majority of the ones at the front fell down the moment they met the hidden trenches, and countless numbers of spirit beasts fell into the large, oil filled trenches that the Fae Masters had dug out.

They were close to 30 metres deep, and despite not having as many, still possessed spikes at the bottom. Most of the Knight Ranked spirit beasts died instantly the moment they came into contact with the spikes, and those that didn't broke something and couldn't get back up.

They wanted to try and move and get out of the massive trench, but noticed a shadow falling down from up above them, before feeling a sharp pain. Then.... nothing.

The trench itself was more than ten metres wide. Large enough for a huge spirit beast, like a Mud Panda, or a Bone Armor Elephant to cross, but not these smaller spirit beasts.

Only those avian spirit beasts flew across, high in the sky without having to worry about falling down.

Those Fae Masters that specialised in ranged attacks, shot countless numbers of fireballs, icicles, shadow balls, water lances and numerous other forms of ranged attacks, piercing and cutting through the Knight Ranked and Lord Ranked spirit beasts.

However-.

"Holy shi-!".

A large, rock, the size of a door fell from the sky, instantly crushing three Rank 2 Fae Masters.

The Elder in charge of those Fae Masters glanced upwards, noticing the Baron Ranked Four Winged Storm Hawk flying in the skies above.

Four Winged Storm Hawks were spirit beasts that were the size of small trucks in Randolf's world. They possessed a Wind Attribute, and possessing immense innate strength, along with a huge size for an avian.

However, even with their superior size and strength, picking up this rock, that weighed almost a tonne would be impossible for this particular spirit beast.... The only thing that could allow it to carry and fling such a heavy weight would be a-.

"Fae! This Four Winged Storm Hawk possesses a Strength Attributed Fae!".

The Elder shouted out, and two more Elders came to his side.

The Baron Ranked spirit beast noticed the gathering of these three Rank 3 Fae Masters, and it screeched loudly as it dove down to swoop at them.

It's enormous claws were the size of a person's arm. And it could probably tear straight through normal steel.

Fortunately for these Elders, the intelligence of such a spirit beast is much lower in comparison to other Baron Ranked spirit beasts.

The lead Elder opened his arms wide, as if trying to attract the attention of the bird.

"Come on you stupid chicken! If you want a piece of me, then come and get me!".

The Four Winged Storm Hawk narrowed its eyes at the obvious provocation, and increased its speed even further as it travelled directly towards this Elder.

Some of the weaker spirit beasts got blown away with how strong its wings were, as well as the gust of air that it created.

The Elder smirked slightly, before activating several Fae at once.

Arthur, in the distance nodded slightly at the Elder's plan.

"Metal tendons Fae.... metal bones fae.... metal arms fae.... metal veins fae.... Oh? Is that a steel heart fae? And a golden lung fae?.... Earth travelling fae as well as connection fae. Not bad....".

The Elder took the strike from the Four Winged Storm Hawk, and grabbed onto one of its wings, pulling it down towards the earth.

The spirit beast got caught off guard by the sudden resistance of its attack, as well as the speed at which this Fae Master countered.

The two rolled on the ground, the larger spirit beast entangled in the smaller Fae Master, before a loud voice cut through the battlefield.

"Attack him! Now!".

The two other Elders that the original one called nodded, activating their own Rank 3 Fae and summoning a pair of lightning swords, which crackled with bright yellow coloured electricity.

Their bodies flickered before the Four Winged Storm Hawk cried out and a huge amount of blood poured out of its neck.

Their attacks weren't enough to cut all the way through, but they were more than enough to successfully kill the beast.

The Four Winged Storm Hawk could do nothing, but try and clutch at its neck, as enormous amounts of blood poured out uncontrollably.

The metal tinted Elder didn't even waste a single second before summoning a spear fae and piercing its eye, killing the spirit beast instantly.

It's large body laid down on the earth, as a massive pool of blood gathered around it.

Numerous scenes, all exactly like this one could be seen all over the battlefield.

About a hundred metres to the right of this, Elder Vova decapitated a Lava Essence Fox, with the assistance of Dominic and Leon.

Towards the front lines, the bodies of numerous Fae Masters belonging to the Kovacs Clan lay trampled and unmoving, as a single Elder battled a Wood Leaf Bear.

More and more spirit beasts spilled out of the forest and towards Parachenko Village.

The vast majority of them Knight Ranked or Lord Ranked, but among them were the occasional Baron Ranked spirit beast.

It seems as though the beast tide were an unrelenting flood of death and destruction. No matter where they went, or who they met, the scent of blood would fill the air.
