Chapter 68 - A cornered little fly

Arthur didn't know that Elder Vova wanted to show off his knowledge of the Clan's territory to the rest of them, and just followed Andrea, who quickly pulled him towards the large grove in the distance.

This area, despite its large size, was mainly filled up by a large pond, filled with lily pads and small lotuses. Various reeds shot out of the waters surface and swayed gently in the faint breeze. The soft scent of pollen filled the air, giving the entire grove a mysterious aura to it.

Not just the Elders, but Randolf and Andrea could sense the essence of the Heavens and the Earth in this area. The grove itself was extremely open, and the way that the trees grew around it, allowed for the moonlight to fall through the gaps in the trees.

Being able to see the reflection of the silvery moon underneath this vibrant pond. What a sight that would be, they thought.

Not just Elder Stas, but Elder Vova also believed Arthur's words that he found the moonsword fae here.

The place was situated just underneath the moon, and even though the sun was out, Vova didn't doubt that the moon passed directly over this large pond.

If one were to randomly add Fae materials to sections of this pond, at least one of them would result in the creation of a Fae.

In fact-.

"Elder Vova! I found a wild Fae!".

Everyone, even Arthur turned towards the origin of this voice.

Zoya, the burly, normal faced young man whom Arthur defeated in the first round of the new Fae Masters tournament came forward, clutching a small insect in his hands.

Elder Vova came forward, and Zoya opened his hands, letting the Elder see the Fae inside.

"Hmm? This is moon mirror fae! A defensive Moon Attributed Fae!".

All of the other classmates around Zoya turned to look at each other, sending Zoya, the one who found it, envious gazes.

Elder Vova nodded his head slightly, turning towards Zoya while patting him on the shoulder.

"Since you found this Fae, this is yours now Zoya. Treasure this luck and don't be lazy in your future cultivation, alright?".

Zoya nodded fervently as some of his friends came over and patted him on the back. As much as they wanted to try and trade for it, they new that their friend needed a win like this, and refrained from saying anything.

Zoya glanced at Arthur and Andrea, both of whom were looking around the large pond, before letting out a small sigh.

He couldn't force Andrea to like him, and from what he could see, Arthur wasn't the type of person to mistreat those he cared about.

Andrea pulled Arthur to the side, whispering slightly.

"I'm going to go explore a little with Alina and the others? Do you want to come with me?".

Arthur knew Andrea was just being polite, and didn't actually think Arthur would come.

Arthur shook his head and gestured to the other direction.

"That's fine. I'm going to head that way for now, I'll see you later, alright?".

Andrea nodded and started jogging towards Alina and some of the other girls in their class.

Arthur knew that his movements were being watched, and not just by Elder Stas so he moved towards Chensa muttering something to her before moving off behind the treeline.

All Humans, even Rank 5 Fae Masters needed to relieve themselves eventually. Telling his sister where he was going was fine, considering she was family.

At the very least, Elder Vova and the others wouldn't concern themselves if one of them needed to relieve themselves. Especially someone like Arthur, who knew how to take care of himself.

Arthur quickly darted through the trees, jumping over dead fallen branches and swerving through trees as old as Parachenko Village itself.

While the terrain didn't change, the density of the forest grew even thicker, and all the flora grew to sizes unimaginable in the mortal world.

Arthur could still feel the gaze of the "little fly" on him, and smirked before scattering a bunch of black coloured powder all over him, then quickly disappearing behind a large tree. This tree was different in comparison to all the others around it, in that its roots appeared above ground. Rising and falling, curving like a dragons as its massive branches seemed to extend towards the sky.

Within a minute of Arthur's figure vanishing, Elder Stas appeared, his eyes darting up and down before smiling and activating one of his fae.

After activating the wolf nose fae, Stas experienced a sudden change in his appearance, his nose becoming more canine, as fur appeared over his nose.

Elder Stas took in a quick whiff, his body unconsciously moving all over the place before arriving in front of the exact place where Arthur vanished.

Stas narrowed his eyes and got on all fours, his hands rummaging around the ground before coming to a small opening, directly underneath one of the massive surface roots.

His eyebrow raised, and Stas realised what this tree was.

Despite its overwhelming size and appearance, the vast majority of this tree had been hollowed out! Glancing around the area, Stas could see that there was quite a bit of unprocessed wood and leftover roots in the surrounding area. It hadn't rained in a few days, however the ground was still extremely wet from all the moisture this tree had once contained....

Stas smirked a little before shaking his head.

"You cheeky brat... No wonder you didn't return to your basement underneath that tavern. All of your treasures are here!".

Elder Stas chuckled evilly before licking his lips and entering the hallowed out root system.

He estimated that this must've taken Arthur.... years to complete. And was his little "hideout" even before he became a Fae Master.

If that's the case, then-.

'Wouldn't this be the safest place for him to put that diary!?', Stas thought to himself, and came to the logical conclusion.

He smirked, following the dark root system back to the main trunk of the tree.

It was extremely dark inside, and smelt unbelievably bad, so he removed his wolf nose fae and moved slowly and quietly.

The inside of the tree was extremely damp, so Stas couldn't help but frown as his foot stepped in a puddle of liquid, most likely originating from the tree itself.

His speed increased as he stepped into more and more puddles of liquid, eventually arriving at the inside of the tree, allowing Stas to stand up, and gaze around the inside of the ancient tree.

Looking up, he could see that there was a faint light coming down from the top of the tree, shining down towards the small table, and chairs crafted out of wood. A few books law scattered on the table, causing Stas to smirk as he picked them up and opened them.

Elder Stas' eyes widened greatly as the read the first page, the mysteries of the Fae from an ancient era were revealed to him, and he couldn't help but become entranced by the words and the meanings behind Immortal Fae and Fae Immortals.

The White Sovereign Fae: An Immortal Fae whose natural ability is rule over members of the Light Race. The power of this Fae can be used by Rank 5 Fae Masters during their ascension to Rank 6 Fae Immortal and allow them to form either the White Sovereign Bloodline, or to assist in the formation of either the Myriad Shadow Bloodline or the Demonic Night Bloodline. The Fae materials needed to form the White Sovereign Fae include....

The Burning Heaven Fae: An Immortal Fae whose strength is at the zenith of all Blaze Attributed Fae. Unlike normal Fire Attributed or Lava Attributed Fae, Blaze Attributed Fae carry the attribute of "blazing". In that either their aura or power can become blazed and increase their strength several fold. The Burning Heaven Fae in particular can ignite origin essence and drastically increase both the potency and strength of a Fae Master, resembling the effects of hadron origin essence. The power of this Fae can be used by Rank 5 Fae Masters during their ascension to Rank 6 Fae Immortal and allow them to form either the True Blazing Bloodline, or to assist in the formation of either the Fiery Heaven Bloodline or the Crimson Sun Bloodline. The Fae materials needed to form the Burning Heaven Fae include...

The knowledge contained within this book, was enough for Stas to form his own Clan! To form his own superpower! He originally thought this diary was the remnant of a Rank 5 Fae Master, but to think that this was the personal belonging of an actual Fae Immortal!

The Kovacs Clan Elder laughed loudly, pulling his head back and chuckled uncontrollably!

"Even the Heavens are blessing my path to the apex", he muttered.

He let out a small sigh, and opened his eyes, staring up at the small beam of light that shone down from the tree's zenith.

"Hmm?".

Elder Stas narrowed his eyes for a moment before they widened greatly, his body turning in every direction imaginable as a torrent of cold sweat covered his body.

The image of hundreds, if not thousands of tiny red glowing orbs hovered around him. The sounds of large fangs clicking together, and eight, sharp pointed legs softly tapping on wood echoed throughout the large ancient tree.

There must've been at least a hundred venom spider spirit beasts within this tree....

This wasn't a hiding spot for Arthur's "mysterious diary".

It was tomb, specifically designed to kill this annoying little "fly"!
