In the beginning of the
Unlike all the other Races, he was not born from the Heavens and the Earth, but was something extraordinary, born out of the ordinary. Not a single shred of origin essence could be seen within his body, and as a result, was much weaker than any other Race.
He could not interact with the Heavens and the Earth, and as a result, found the world frightening, and dangerous.
He was all alone in the World.
The Elves, in their viridian palaces high in the tree-tops mocked him for being ugly. A creature worse than the decrepit beasts that roamed the lands, whose intelligence paled in comparison to the Humans.
The Dwarves, sitting arrogantly in their steel-topped cities scolded him for being talentless. Humans, born without any connection to the Heavens and the Earth were unable to express power and strength like the other Races.
The Mermen, swimming silently in the bottomless Abyss ridiculed the Human for being unable to breath underwater. He could neither control the tides and the waves, nor swim through the oceans like they could, and as such expelled him from the ocean.
The Angels and Devils did nothing but look on at this single member of Mankind with arrogance and disgust on their faces. There was nothing this creature could do other than shit and eat, roaming the land like some sort of beast.
It was unworthy.
Countless Races spat and looked down upon this Human, except for single one.
The Fae.
The Fae were unlike the other Races, in that they shared no apparent form or intimacy for each other. Some looked similar, and possessed similar abilities to each other, but neither one called each other their brethren, or even their family.
They were born of the Heaven and Earth like all the other Races, and were seemingly friendly with all of the other Races as well.
One day, a single Fae left its territory and came upon this single Human.
It had seen the horrific things the other Races had done to this Human, said to the Human, and wished upon the Human, wondering why this single Human did nothing in the face of all this hatred and disgust.
It asked, "Why do you do nothing about it? Say nothing about it? Wish nothing about it?".
It was curious, and immature, despite the fact it had lived for so long.
The Human only smiled, doing nothing but pat the little Fae's head.
"If it is my duty to bear all the hatred in the world, then let me bear it alone. A Human is weak and a Human is alone in the world. If I disappear, won't the disgust and animosity of the myriad Races once again focus on each other?".
The little Fae seemed confused, yet also seemed to understand what the Human was talking about.
"But wouldn't it be nice to have other Humans around with you? So you wouldn't be alone?".
The first Human shook his head in disagreement.
"If another Human existed, and they too were forced to endure the hatred of the other Races, wouldn't I not feel hatred for them, as they do for me? There would be no end to it. Thus, I shall be the first and last Human to ever walk the Heavens and the Earth".
The little Fae seemed saddened by his words.
They were lonely and completely different to the life he had lived.
In his immaturity, he left his home and followed the Human all over the World. Learning about the hatred and disgust the myriad Races felt for Humanity.
It slowly started to believe that these Races, in all of their power and strength, never learnt what it was like to be born weak. To be born without the blessings of the Heaven and the Earth.
It slowly started to feel hatred for these Races, and hatred for the Human who did nothing about it.
It couldn't accept this imbalance and one day had enough of the hatred.
The little Fae was no longer little, and from all the hatred it had observed and absorbed, became a Fae that embodied Hate.
The Hatred Fae.
The Hatred Fae fed on the hatred the myriad Races gave off, and grew stronger the more hate it observed. It could influence the hatred of anyone it touched, and turn even the most kind-hearted of beings into ones fuelled by hatred.
And as such, it chose the Human to inhabit.
The Human, blinded by the hatred of the myriad Races and the Hatred Fae, slaughtered any living creature it came upon. The more he killed, the more Hatred the myriad Races felt for him, causing him to become stronger, and more powerful than them.
Eventually, nothing was left other than the Human and the Hatred Fae. The land, the sea and the sky had all being engulfed by hatred that nothing remained.
The moment the Hatred Fae left the Human, the hatred in its body left, leaving the two alone in a world of nothingness.
"..... the first ever emotion Man had felt was hatred. Whether this is true or not, no-one knows. But once upon a time the World was engulfed in hatred and suffering. The arrogance of the myriad Races and the susceptibility of the Fae are proof of that.....".
Arthur sighed, walking down the streets of Parachenko Village, ignoring the shouts and excited screams of the young and elderly.
Today was the talent awakening ceremony after all. Things would always be eventful this time of year.
This one was no exception.
Initially Man understood his place in the World. Even if he was weak, or the target of hatred and rage, he did nothing, not daring to upset the balance between the Heavens and the Earth.
But the existence of Fae changed that.
Fae were creatures born from the essence of the Heavens and the Earth, and possessed wild powers and abilities many thought were impossible, or magic or a miracle.
The first Man was able to use Fae that much was evident.
Or rather, the first Man was able to be used by Fae.
Some people can use Fae, while others can only be used by Fae.
This was the difference in talent.
"Fae are influenced by the environment around them. Growing in a hostile environment will make the Fae unusually aggressive, most often stronger. Being born and nurtured in a loving environment will cause them to be more passive, but at the same time more loyal, more friendly to a Fae Master".
This was the unwritten meaning behind chapter 1 verse 1 of the
Every section carried an unwritten meaning behind it, however, not ever Fae Master could discern these meanings on their own.
Arthur closed the book in his hands, walking towards the back of Parachenko Village, towards the Awakening Caves where the Clan Leader and the Clan Elders had set up the talent awakening ceremony.
Only the Elders and the young men and women whose talents are to be awakened are allowed in the Awakening Cave at any one time. Every other day of the year, the Awakening Cave is closed, and allowed to accumulate power for the next year.
That is because-.
"Of the other unwritten meaning behind the first chapter of the
All of the myriad Races could feel hatred for the first Man. Yet the first Man did not feel hatred for the other Races.
Was his mental fortitude far greater than that of the other Races?
Or did he not understand what hatred truly was?
The answer was neither.
"Understanding hatred was what gave the other Races power. It was what gave the little Fae power and what allowed him to transform into Hatred Fae. The little Fae understood hatred and then gave the power of hatred to the first Man. This is how he formed his connection between himself and the Heavens and the Earth".
As such, the awakening ceremony in the Awakening Cave could only be one thing.
".... direct physical contact.... with Hatred Fae".
