Chapter 1 - The City As it Was

The city, it was beautiful, was it the skyscrapers? No. Was it the parks? No. It was the memories. They were the most beautiful part of the city. Ever since I was just a little girl I could remember this very city it was just so elegant, London, the very city I was born in, the very city I met...him. Oh how wonderful that day was. It was today, today was the day I'd meet him again.

I pulled my glasses to my forehead and looked upon my new apartment it was rather large, almost too large for one lone person. Though I suppose I shouldn't call it my apartment, I mean I am sharing it with him.

I ran my hand through my silver, long hair making sure to brush back the parts that may block my eyes, I wanted to see his whole face, every part of him, every inch (well not every inch...).

It's been 4 years since we've seen each other and I'm finally moving in with him, this must be destiny. My best friend since childhood, my "brother from another mother". My...Childhood crush!

I went through the front door and entered to a large, comfortable lobby lined with large sofas and paintings of gorgeous landscapes, makes you almost forget just how disgusting the city actually can be.

I understand I said that I did love the city but I have reasons to hate it. Just like all cities the noise is unbearable, I can never hear my own thoughts when I'm in it. The crowds make me feel cramped, I hate tight spaces.

I marched up the stairs, baggage in tow, ready to go up to that beautiful face of his and make him fall for me, oh how I can't wait for that smile to fall upon him. He was just so charming when he was with me, the sappy pick up lines, those eyes, it was his eyes that I loved, they captured you, like how a mouse is taken by a cat but just like a cat his eyes play with his food. His food was the girls he was so adored by.

"Room 122" I muttered to myself, I took a large breath, straightening my black leather jacket, brushing away excess hair and listening to the beat of my heart. Can you hear it? Oh this is so exciting!

I pushed against the doorbell feeling it's surprising sturdiness and a large ding was heard on the other side.

"Coming!!" I heard a feminine voice on the other side, there's no way, he shares his apartment with a girl. That's wrong! He shouldn't do that.

Unless it's me of course...

The door swung open, whoever opened it must have given quite the pull on it.

There she stood, she was a brunette with patches of hair dyed pink. Adorning some rose star twisted glasses glued on her lapis eyes and her dark, illuminating skin, seemed to sparkle the room up. Below her neck was a bronze necklace fitted with a cross in the centre. She also wore a crop top and a pair of jeans that seemed to be choking the life out of her.

"What can I do you for babe?" She ogled at me in delight twisting her lips in a funny shape.

"Morning, my names Emily, I'm suppose to be moving in here" I tried to speak seriously and clearly but I couldn't hide how red my cheeks had gone.

The girl turned her head back and screamed into the room,"HEY DREAMBOAT EMILY JUST GOT HERE, COME SAY HI YOU DORK!"

Wow, she really knows how to get someone's attention, I think I like her all ready. I giggled in delight and pressed my hand against my cheek, preparing my cute expression and trying to think of the exact words to say to 'Mr Dreamboat' if that's what you wanna call him.

The girl looked back to me and shared a cheerful smile," I'm Sapphire but you, cutie, can call my saph" she gave me a little wink.

Sapphire, she had so much confidence, so much bravery, she was brilliant!

And soon after there he was, 'Mr Dreamboat', Alex Hall.

He looked at me and pushed his black hair behind him, his emerald eyes focused on me, moving up and down every part of my body, as if he was searching for something. As he searched me, I searched him. I looked at his clothing. It was very rugged and so cool, he had a Black jacket, with scarlet stripes and wore black jeans fitted to a pair of black Nike's.

"Emily" he charmed me, in that lovely voice of his that made me feel so enchanted,"it's been so long, and look at you now."

He placed one hand on my shoulder and gazed directly into my eyes as he grinned.

"Welcome to your new home."
