I leaned against the wall, waiting outside. I told him the specific idea of what I'm wanting, but not the exact weapon. What is he making? "Kaistyn!" He stepped outside, beaming ear-to-ear. "Look! Take a look at this!" He shoved something into me and I had to catch myself or be knocked over from the force. A black rod?
The only thing I could think of to say was, "A….stick?" It's balanced so well that I can put the end on my finger and hold it there, but…
"No! Look!" He started messing with it, hitting a hidden trigger. A long blade came out on both ends, creating a double-sided spear. Impressive. "That's not all! I asked my pops to give me a beast crystal and I enchanted it! Watch!" he showed me a second button next to the other, pressing it. The blades began to glow, moving to the side and gathering on a single end. When the light died down, I was holding a scythe. "You wanted something easy to maneuver and useful for many different situations, right? Here you go!" Crap, this is a weapon on the level of royal treasure! He'll be fine taking over his father's shop! "So, what do you think?"
"Superfluous. I'll take it anyway. Jiyak…" My path was unclear, guided by emotions. I understood that, but losing my sister, the idiot who became my second mother and support, was far too much for me to handle. "I don't know when I'll return, if ever." Out of nowhere he hugged me, lifting my feet off the ground so effortlessly it pissed me off.
"You actually said my name! Kaistyn, It was obvious what you were doing when you dragged me to the forge! Go save your big sis, yah hard-headed jerk!" Way too close.
"Let go! Stop picking me up at random all the time!" With a hearty chuckle, he dropped me and placed his hands on my shoulders.
"Good luck, my friend!" How can he still smile even after being told I might die? He's such a mystery at times...that, or it hasn't actually sunk in yet.
I sighed, brushing his hands off me. "You're annoying, stupid, and far too loud. I don't see how you have the capacity to create weapons as great as this, you incompetent oaf. Now shut up and leave me alone." I spun around and promptly left him behind.
As I was stepping onto the road, he called, "I'll miss you too!"
I paused mid-step, replying, "Stop using your brain for assumptions, you'll hurt yourself." After saying my piece, I set off without looking back. No use in remaining attached...damn my stupid heart to hell--it has no place in this journey.
