Chapter 26 - C25A: A Rose of Worry

As time goes by it becomes the mid-1400's.

Rose's POV:

"Vlad~" I purred out as I walked up to him. It's been years and even though I was a kid at the time- growing up with my brother and his mate... I've noticed that Richard stayed demonic while my brother- Paris healed. I needed Vlad's advice- especially since it was his brother too. I know we need to help him. Vlad is just a few years younger than Paris, so he knew more about what was going on those many years ago than I did. I eyed him over as he was aiming down a target with a bow and arrow. Archery~ "I need your advice... On Richard. I think we should talk to Paris about this as well." He glanced back at me and frowned as he flattened the cat ears on his head.

"What about him? He's an evil spawn of Satan," he muttered.

"W-well," I whispered and blushed. "I think he's been demonic for too long... and Paris is already back to normal, but he still struggles," I whispered quietly as I eyed his ears over. I just want to pet him. He looked back at the target then let go of the arrow, watching as it quickly shot and hit the bullseye in the center.

"It's because my brother drinks too much blood," Vlad told me then put the bow down on the table beside him as he turned to look at me. "Haven't you noticed? It's like he never stops drinking from someone. The maids know better than to get too close to him. Paris doesn't drink as much as him. My brother binges on it." He frowned then walked up to me before he grabbed my hand and looked around before he looked at me. "Don't let him catch you talking about him that way. He might get mad," he whispered and gave me a worried look. "He did kill our parents." I nodded and reached up quickly and rubbed his ears.

"You don't drink as much as he does though, Vlad. You're still like this too. I heard you're demonic- you smell like it too." I leaned in and smelled his scent. "Maybe we should seek help." He blushed a little as I rubbed his ears and almost melted against me but shakily kept his ground.

"I-I don't know why I haven't reverted back," he admitted and blushed, adverting his eyes from me. I pulled away from his ears and gave him a small purr.

"Do you want to remain a kitty forever?" I asked him curiously. "I know no one wants to stay hungry forever and craving blood by the minute. That's why I think we need to look into helping Richard." He looked at me then pouted.

"You would lose interest if I lost my ears," he mumbled.

"No, I wouldn't," I whispered and eyed him over. "Only if you become a big jerk." He seemed to be thinking it through before he nodded.

"O-okay, let's go see if Paris knows of anything or if he's worried about my brother.... If he's not worried about him, then it's probably fine for now. Paris knows Richardo better than even me," he told me then grabbed my hand again. I gave his hand a squeeze before I pulled him towards my family's castle to go find Paris. Maybe he's away from Richard now. Vlad looked at me then bit his bottom lip before he gave a small smirk and suddenly, we were standing in Paris's office. He looked around before he looked towards Paris's desk to see Paris looking through the mail on it then looked around for a final time for his brother but didn't find him in the room- probably feeding somewhere.

"P-paris?" I asked softly and let Vlad's hand go as I walked up towards him. "I've been thinking... You should hear me out too. I think we should seek help for Richard and Vlad." I looked back at Vlad then.

"What do you mean by help? Like brotherly counseling? I suppose they do need it," he chuckled out.

"No," I told him and shook my head. "I'm talking about how they're still demonic." Vlad looked at Paris and tugged lightly on his shirt before he stepped up towards the desk slowly.

"Paris... we're still demonic, and you've managed to heal from it but we haven't.... Richardo is looking worse, and I... I have a hard time not biting anyone," he whispered nervously. "I don't like it."

"We want to go search for someone to help. Someone professional and knows how to handle this. Maybe a priest that could bless them," I suggested. Paris gave us a small frown, but I could tell he was thinking hard on it. "We don't know if Richard would approve of this though in his state..." I trailed off then. Richard drinks too much blood.... he's made a bad habit out of it. Vlad frowned then and pulled me close.

"I don't think we should tell him either.... He did kill our parents with you... and he could try to come after us...." Vlad gave Paris a nervous look like he was expecting him to get out of his seat and smack him.

"Richard does struggle not binging on blood," Paris whispered. "He craves it..."

"Don't you want to help him stop his cravings? You would get more time with him," I told Paris. Vlad relaxed a little and nodded.

"He'd be a lot sweeter I think," Vlad murmured. "He'd be more like he used to be." Paris eyed us over as he watched us.

"So, you're asking me to keep this quiet because you're afraid of my mate and you wish to go find someone to help him?" Paris asked us. I nodded as I watched him. He brought his fingers up to his jaw and rubbed it. "I don't know if I can keep this quiet for long from my mate... He is my mate." He leaned back in his chair before he brought his hand down to his neck than to his shoulder and scratched it. "Well go ahead and look around," he suggested. "But you have to come back to me with anything you find." Vlad nodded quickly and gave him a relieved look.

"We'll write down what we find for you," he promised and started to purr. "Thank you, Paris."

"You're welcome Vlad. Don't get caught searching by my mate... I don't know what he'll do to you." Paris gave us a concerned look before waving us away. "We can't get caught having this conversation and he'll be back soon."

"Where is he?" Vlad asked curiously and flattened his ears. "Is he feeding again?"

"Of course," Paris sighed out. "He got hungry and left me half an hour ago to play in town."

"See? It would be better for you even to have him blessed," Vlad told him then went to say something again before he tensed as the sound of the piano started up.

"He's home," I whispered. Paris raised his head up at the sound and purred.

"He must've had a good hunt," Paris purred out and gave a smile. Vlad shivered and shook his head.

"It's almost like he's trying to lure you in there...." He whispered and flicked his ears as a dark chord was struck and gave me chills.

"That's what happens when you get a mate," Paris purred out. "He's happy about his hunt and he's ready for my attention." He stood up and eyed us over before giving a smile. "I won't tell him anything for as long as I can." He teleported then- ditching us. I looked towards Vlad and gave him a small smile.

"Vlad, you're going to get to be you again. You won't be my kitty anymore." He looked at me and purred before he leaned in and kissed my cheek.

"No, I won't be your kitty anymore," he whispered. "When you were little, you used to say that I was your kitty and not a prince. It took some convincing for you to finally call me your kitty prince." I laughed and nodded.

"You're still my kitty prince," I teased him and linked arms with him. "You're my protector most importantly and a true friend." He smiled at me and brought me close.

"I would hope you considered me your friend by now~" He gave a teasing purr before he started to pull me out of the room. "Let's go pack so we can start to look. We're going to have to travel some."

"I know," I sighed out. "I'm not sure I could leave home for too long though. I'll miss Paris and Richard."

"If you ever need to come home quickly, I know how to teleport~" he told me and winked. "I just think that maybe we should look at this as an adventure and go by carriage. Paris and Richardo don't normally let us wander around like this."

"That's true. We could see some of the world while we're searching," I purred out and giggled. He nodded and then purred as he grabbed my hands then spun me like we were dancing.

"We could visit some other princes and princesses too~ They used to have friends, but they don't come around much anymore. We could maybe go visit Laurence," he suggested. I giggled and nodded quickly.

"I want to see Laurence. He used to spend a bunch of time with me when I was younger. We would play tea parties." I moved into his arms quickly and hugged him. He hugged me back and purred happily as he kissed the top of my head.

"We could also ask him for pointers in where to look too," he whispered in my ear. "He'd know."

"He probably knows what we should do," I mumbled and leaned in towards his neck before I kissed it. He purred a little louder then pulled back a little to look at me.

"Want to go there now? We can get our stuff and go there first then explore and find someone," he suggested and gave me a sweet look.

"We could go see Laurence," I whispered before pulling away from him. "Let's pack our bags and head to England. There's probably a better chance to find someone there than here anyways." He nodded then grabbed my hand, teleporting us to outside of my room then kissed my hand.

"Meet me in my room in an hour. If anyone asks, we're just going to see a friend for Paris," he whispered then leaned in and kissed my cheek. I nodded and gave him a sweet look before I went inside my room to gather my things up to leave.

When I finished packing, I had a maid carry them while I walked with her to his room. I knocked on his door as soon as I got there and waited for him to open up. He came up to the door and opened it quickly, giving me a purr before he looked towards the maid and then at me as he stole the bags from her. "Thank you for your help. I'll take it from here. Let's go~" I watched the maid walk away before I took Vlad's hand.

"Ready?" I asked him and gave a smile. He nodded and purred.

"Of course," he whispered then lead me into his room, shutting the door as he lead me over to his bags and grabbed them as he kept a firm grip on mine. Suddenly we were standing in front of a grand castle- Laurence's castle. He looked around and bit his bottom lip as he set our bags down then walked up to the front doors and knocked on them. The doors opened as two butlers stood there with huge smiles.

"Hello! Welcome. Are you here to see Laurence?" One of them asked. Vlad nodded and purred, laying back his ears quickly.

"Yes, we're old friends of Laurence. We'd like to see him," Vlad said and watched them curiously.

"He should be in his study at this hour. Do you need help getting to him or can you find your own way?" Vlad shook his head, then purred.

"Could you move our bags somewhere for now? We can go to him on our own," he said then slipped past them, dragging me with him as he took me down the halls and into a room where we found Laurence sitting at his desk. Vlad purred and knocked on the door frame as we entered and gave Laurence a sweet look. Laurence looked up at us before smiling.

"Vlad! Rose! What can I do for you this fine evening?" He asked and gave us a loving look.

"Can we stay with you for few days? We're trying to find someone that can help me and my brother get well again, and we hoped that you could help us," Vlad explained and walked in, sitting down in a chair in front of the desk. I heard a small growl from behind me before Baylorik walked in and looked towards Laurence. I eyed over Bayorik as Laurence watched him in amusement.

"What?" He asked Baylorik. I sat down quickly with Vlad and watched the dragon. He's very old. Baylorik walked up to the desk slowly as he watched Laurence then tsked.

"I'm taking my mate to the dragon realm. It's not safe here anymore for us. Dragon hunters are becoming more common... and if we go now, we'll be able to get a good nesting area," he told Laurence. "Mayloi is old enough to leave you too." Laurence frowned as he eyed Baylorik over.

"Mayloi is going to leave me?" Laurence asked softly and seemed to be trying to process it. Baylorik frowned and crossed his arms.

"He might. I want to know if you want me to take him with me and release him in the dragon realm," he said calmly. "He might leave you on his own if he figures out about the dragon realm by himself."

"I don't want to lose him," Laurence whispered. "Who will keep me warm?" Bayorik frowned.

"That can't be the only reason you would want him to stay behind. Look, think about it for a day. I leave tomorrow with or without him. If you want to keep him, you'll have to protect him well because there are people out there who want his hide as a trophy."

"He'll be fine with me," Laurence whispered and eyed Baylorik over. "I wish you would stay." Baylorik frowned then shook his head.

"I can't. It's not safe here for me and my mate. Mayloi is getting really big too. I had to fight him earlier to keep him out of my treasure hoard room you let me have. We can't stay here. All the dragons are leaving. I caught wind of it yesterday. Even the more powerful ones are leaving. Our queen is leaving."

"You're my dragon though! I can protect you," Laurence mumbled and looked like he was about to cry. Baylorik softened his gaze then walked over to Laurence and knelt down beside his chair.

"Laurence... we really can't stay. Our home is healthier and safer for us.... Tell you what... I'll come out of the dragon realm every few years to check on you...." He grabbed Laurence's hand then nuzzled his face against it and gave a soft moan.

"Promise?" Laurence asked and eyed him over. "Promise to keep Mayloi safe with you?" Baylorik growled a little at the thought and seemed to be thinking it over before he looked at Laurence.

"I'll teach him to defend himself then release him into the wilds of the dragon realm," he told him then nuzzled his head against Laurence's hand with a purr. "He's too old to still be with parents in a nest- especially there. Mating season will come around, and he'll either not get a mate, run me out, or he'll be dominated and pushed around by a female."

"I didn't want to let him go so soon," Laurence whispered and sniffled. "He's my dragon." Baylorik watched him then climbed into his lap and nuzzled his head against him.

"You can keep him here until it's too awful for him to stay. I'll come back every few years to check on you," he whispered. "It'll give you more time with him, but he'll be unhappy eventually if he continues to stay here forever."

"What are you two talking about?" I heard a voice purr at the door. "Daddy~ Why are you upset?" A red-haired male walked into the room with a sweet look on his face as he walked over then pushed Baylorik out of Laurence's lap and crawled into it, curling up to him.

"Baylorik thinks it's time for you to go to another realm for your safety," Laurence whispered out. "He's planning to leave." Mayloi growled then and clung to Laurence.

"He just wants all my treasure," he hissed and glared at Baylorik as he snuggled up to Laurence.

"No... Baylorik, tell him what you told me," Laurence ordered. Baylorik frowned from on the floor then looked at Mayloi.

"We're leaving because dragon hunters have been rising up. Lots of dragons have already been killed. All the dragons are retreating to our realm where it's safe for us. It's healthier for us to live there too, and if we leave soon, we'll be able to get the better nesting grounds. Even the queen of dragons is leaving. Mayloi, it'll be dangerous for you to stay here. The dragon order fell too.... The hunters slaughtered their headquarters a couple of nights ago. We have to go." Mayloi frowned before he snuggled up to Laurence and clung to him.

"No, we don't. Daddy can protect us~ I'm not leaving my daddy and my hoard," he said sweetly.

"You'll have to go for your protection," Laurence whispered out and looked torn to say it. Mayloi let out a sharp growl then looked up at him.

"No," he said stubbornly. "I don't want to."

"You can come back for visits."

"No! I don't want to," he snarled and tightened his grip as his nails sharpened into talons. "I don't care about hunters. I'll eat them!"

"They could kill you! You need to realize what kind of danger they are to you." Laurence gave a sigh as he rubbed Mayloi's head. "You're old enough to leave the nest anyways." I heard him growl again before he glared at Laurence.

"Dad," he hissed then picked his head up. "I'm not leaving my treasure hoard and you. I don't care about hunters! They're smaller than me and flammable," he growled then clung to him. Laurence purred and looked pleased that Mayloi was acting that way.

"Fine, you can stay here and have the hoard to yourself. Baylorik is leaving with his mate." Mayloi broke out into a purr and kissed Laurence's cheek with a delighted look.

"Mkay daddy," he whispered then nuzzled his head against him. Baylorik got to his feet and shook his head before he looked at Laurence.

"I'll leave instructions to the dragon realm if he ever needs to leave. I'm getting my mate and going," he said calmly and started for the door. "Don't let him die." Laurence watched Bayorik walking away before he looked down at Mayloi.

"You're over a thousand years old and you still act like you're five sometimes," Laurence teased Mayloi. Mayloi purred and looked up at Laurence then kissed his cheek again.

"I love you, daddy," he said sweetly and nipped at Laurence's ear affectionately. "I'd never leave you~"

"Good because I need someone to keep me warm at night." Mayloi giggled and nodded happily.

"Mhmm, I'd never leave my nest, daddy," he purred softly and nuzzled his head against Laurence's chest. "I don't care about a dragon realm. I want to stay here...."

"I know, and I want you to do what you want," Laurence purred to him before looking at me. "So, where were we?" He asked and looked towards Vlad. Vlad frowned before he looked the two of them over.

"I want to be cleansed, and we want to cleanse my brother. Do you know any priests that could help us perhaps?" He crossed his legs and reached for my hand.

"There are a few churches you can go to," Laurence told us calmly. "You can ask for their assistance." Vlad nodded slowly before he frowned.

"Yes, but do you know of a specific priest that could help with vampiric demons? I don't want to search the entire world for centuries," Vlad said and frowned, flattening his ears. "Can we stay here too for a little while?"

"There's one by the name of Saint Cross... If you stay here and search for someone you will find him," Laurence told us calmly. Vlad purred and nodded before he gave him a sweet look as his ears perked up.

"Thanks Laurence~! I'll have to tell Paris to thank you later when we go home," he said and smiled. Mayloi glanced at us and purred as he kissed Laurence's cheek and glanced up at him.

"Can the kitty be part of my treasure hoard?" He asked sweetly and glanced at us again, eyeing Vlad's ears over with a smirk.

"No, the kitty is mine," I told him quickly and grabbed Vlad's hand to protect him. Mayloi growled at me then narrowed his eyes, sitting up on Laurence a little more.

"Mine," he hissed back at me.

"No, he's not! Vlad is my kitty," I hissed and looked towards Vlad expectantly. He glanced at me then purred.

"Yeah, I'm her kitty," he said sweetly but earned a snarl from Mayloi as he got up and started to crawl over the desk to get Vlad, reaching for him.

"No! Mine!" He hissed again. I quickly shoved him back into Laurence's lap to keep him away from Vlad.

"No, he's not!" I yelled at him. He roared at me then and sharpened his teeth as he got back up and leapt over the desk, coming for me now. I exposed my fangs at him before I crawled into Vlad's lap and hid my face against his neck.

"Tell him you're mine!" I ordered. He wrapped his arms around me then glared at Mayloi.

"I'm hers. Not yours. That's yours," he said and pointed towards Laurence, but Mayloi snarled again and tried to pull me away from him. Vlad went to hiss at him as his grip tightened on me, glaring him down as he flattened his ears against his head. Growling, the dragon slipped into his lap and tried to shove me out, reaching for Vlad's ears as Vlad yelped. I growled towards him quickly and grabbed him by the throat in anger.

"Vlad is my protector! You get your slimy talons away from him and go find someone else to take!" I yelled at him before I tossed him into the floor and clung to Vlad. Mayloi yelped on the ground then looked up at me, hissing before he looked me over then got to his feet as his eyes started to glow a faint gold.

"You're in my hoard! He's mine!" He hissed and snatched me from Vlad's arms then went to throw me aside, but Vlad was on his feet quickly, showing off his fangs.

"Don't throw her.... Mayloi, put her down gently and maybe I'll consider being yours," he said then reached for me. Mayloi looked me over then slowly put me down before he purred at Vlad and went to snatch him up but he disappeared from sight before Mayloi could get his hands on him. I heard Vlad chuckle from Laurence's lap as his eyes lingered over us playfully. I eyed Vlad over before and pouted and sat down in my seat. I watched as Laurence pushed Vlad out of his seat quickly.

"You guys need to stop sitting in my lap. I'm way smaller than you now! You crush me every time you sit on me."

"Sorry Laurence," Vlad purred out from the floor then got to his feet. "It's weird to think of you as smaller than us." He appeared in the seat beside mine and grabbed my hand but quickly groaned as Mayloi got in his lap and curled up.

"I know but you'll have to start remembering it," Laurence told us calmly. I looked towards Vlad's hand and squeezed it before I gave Mayloi a small glare. That's my Vlad! He's my kitty! He's mine.

"Sleep in my nest tonight~" Mayloi mumbled to Vlad and purred sweetly as he nuzzled his head against him. Shifting uncomfortably, Vlad frowned and looked confused about whether he should shove him off or not.

"V-Vlad." I whispered and shook my head no quickly. He better not! He glanced at me and frowned before he went to push him off but Mayloi latched on and leaned in towards Vlad's neck, nuzzling his head against it with a moan. I gasped lightly and tightened my jaw. "Vlad," I whined out. I saw Vlad's face heating up into a blush as he gasped.

"I-I can't get him off-" Mayloi purred and wrapped his arms around his neck and rubbed his head against Vlad's chest, making him tense up.

"My kitty~" Mayloi whispered.

"Mayloi," Laurence hissed out. "I thought you were sleeping with me tonight. Leave Vlad alone."

"He's my kitty," I hissed out under my breath. Mayloi perked up and looked towards Laurence before he purred.

"He can't sleep with us? I thought he could," he said sweetly then crawled out of Vlad's lap, going for Laurence.

"Three is a crowd," Laurence purred out in amusement. "He'll sleep in his own bed in a guest bedroom. Leave him alone and remember to use your manners." Mayloi frowned then sat down at Laurence's feet before he rubbed his head against Laurence's leg and whined.

"I didn't do anything bad~ I want him to be one of my treasures."

"He's a prince. He doesn't have time for being your treasure," Laurence purred out. I glanced towards Vlad before giving a relieved sigh.

"Why not? I could lock him up in my treasure hoard and clothe him in gold and bathe him in gold oils and make him wear tons of jewels~" Mayloi said sweetly and laughed at the thought. "If I tried to do it to you, you'd get mad, daddy~"

"No!" I yelled out and stood up. "You won't do anything like that to Vlad." I grabbed his wrist and yanked him to his feet to stand by me before I started to drag him out of the room for his safety.

"He's your friend not a piece of treasure to hoard," Laurence hissed out. Mayloi looked up at him quickly and frowned before he gave a soft whine.

"Yes, daddy," he mumbled then nuzzled his head against Laurence. "I'm sorry.... I won't hoard him...."

"Good," Laurence whispered and rubbed his head. I pulled Vlad into a hug to protect him. Vlad purred to me and kissed the top of my head as he wrapped his arms around me then made me sit down in his lap as Mayloi moaned and melted against Laurence with a happy smile. I bit my bottom lip as I watched Mayloi. He better keep away from Vlad. I don't want to wake up tomorrow and not know where he is.

"Where's Baleen?" I heard Mayloi ask softly as he picked his head up and looked around. "I don't see him in here...."

"I don't know where he is," Laurence purred out in amusement. "He's probably taking his evening nap so he can stay up late with me tonight." Mayloi whined then before he looked up at Laurence.

"You're staying up late tonight? How late?" He asked and curled up at Laurence's feet. "Like normal... or is it later...."

"Late, late. I'm wanting to do a bonfire tonight by the lake." Mayloi smirked and then playfully blew smoke at Laurence.

"I can light it for you if you want~" He suggested then rolled onto his back, showing off his tummy.

"If you want to but I thought you would just go to bed early tonight."

"What's the bonfire for?" He asked curiously and sat up straight, watching him. "Is it just to see pretty fire or is there a reason?"

"I just wanted to sit by something warm and watch the lake. Plus it's a full moon out so there's going to be a hum of howls out in the woods." Laurence gave a small smile as if he was thinking about something pleasant. Mayloi nodded and then nuzzled his head against Laurence's leg.

"I'll stay up with you to make sure the wolves don't eat you."

"As if they'd dare," Laurence purred out. "Oh~ I invited Victor to come visit."

"You did?" Vlad asked and frowned.

"Oh yes, he did," I heard Victor purr from the corner of the room. "Laurence and I are friends after all~" I widened my eyes and looked for Victor quickly. Has he been here the whole time? He looked at me and smirked as he sat in the back corner of the room by the window, his legs crossed. "Hello Rose, Vlad~ Long time no see!" I giggled and crawled out of Vlad's lap quickly before I ran up to him and pulled him into a hug.

"VICTOR!" I gave his cheek a kiss before I smelled him quickly. He laughed and kissed my cheek back and pulled me into his lap.

"Hey cutie," he whispered and rubbed my head. "I missed you~ How are your fangs?" He teased me and looked towards me expectantly. "Say ahhh~" I frowned and opened my mouth but didn't expose my fangs.

"None of your business," I teased him before I giggled and closed my mouth. He smirked and tapped my nose.

"It is my business, miss princess," he told me and chuckled. "I'm a friend of your brother's."

"That's not a very good reason to ask to see my fangs," I purred out to him.

"Oh yes, it is~ I need to know how you are doing with those fangs. Are you sure you even have them?" He teased me lightly and leaned back in his seat. I smirked and nodded.

"Oh, I have them!" I exposed them quickly to show them off to him. He smirked back at me and eyed them over.

"It's about time, princess~ I was starting to think you'd never show me," he purred out then playfully touched one. "When you were little, you used to say that a lady never showed her fangs."

"I don't remember that," I purred out in amusement before I leaned in and bit down into his neck to mess with him. He gasped then purred louder at me as he ran his fingers through my hair and put his other arm behind my back.

"Rose~" he whispered and laughed. "Those are sharper than I thought they'd be." I pulled back from him and licked my lips before smirking.

"Oh yeah? You thought they'd be dull?" I asked him.

"Well you don't use them," he teased me and smirked before he leaned over and gave my cheek a small kiss. "It's wonderful to see you again."

"I do use them on servants," I purred out. "It's wonderful to see you too." He rubbed my cheek then looked me over before he smirked and exposed his fangs at me.

"Want to see how sharp mine are?" He teased me and leaned in towards my neck with a small growl. I giggled before I put a finger over his lips quickly.

"No. You're not biting me back." I moved out of his lap quickly and went back towards Vlad. He appeared in front of me though and laughed.

"Where are you going?" He asked then snatched me up with a growl, going for my throat. Mayloi growled out towards him and laughed as he watched us curiously. I frowned before pushing him back quickly and leaned away from him. I tsked and eyed him over.

"Victor," I giggled out and gave him a small smile. He smirked then grabbed my hands as he gave me a playful look.

"What? No fangs?" He teased before I suddenly felt Vlad wrap his arms around my waist from behind and yank me from Victor.

"No fangs," he hissed. "She's my princess. Get your own." I giggled and looked towards Vlad.

"Your princess?" I asked and purred. He's being awfully protective. He glanced at me out of the corner of his eyes then glared down Victor.

"Yes," he told me then flattened his ears against his head. "MY princess." Victor raised an eyebrow before he clapped his hands together and turned around, going towards Laurence and sat on his desk.

"So, Laurence~ bonfire tonight, yes?"

"Yes, a bonfire. It'll be fun and something for us to do." Laurence rubbed Mayloi on the head and smirked. I sat back down in my chair quickly.

"Would you like me to go fetch a pig for it? We could roast one," Victor suggested then eyed down Mayloi. "He might like the extra meat around." Mayloi purred at the thought and licked his lips, eyeing Victor down.

"Mhmm~ Meat would be amazing!" He told him then smirked.

"I rather have a dear. Be careful hunting.... why don't you take Vlad with you." Victor frowned a little and crossed his arms.

"Vlad? Are you sure he can even hunt-"

"Of course, I can. I'm skilled with a bow. Want to find out?" Vlad hissed at him, making Victor smirk a little.

"I'm skilled with a sword and knife~ We could play around together if you want," Victor said and turned to Vlad quickly, exposing his fangs.

"Great! You two can go hunting together and get in some male bonding time. Rose, we can play chess while we wait on them," Laurence suggested. Vlad nodded then looked Victor over before he started for the door.

"You better not get in my way, kitten," Victor muttered and followed him out quickly, eyeing the ears over as he shut the door behind him firmly. Mayloi nuzzled his head against Laurence's leg and smirked at the door.

"I wonder if they'll come home in one piece," he hummed out. "I don't think Vlad likes Victor~"

"It's just because they both like Rose," Laurence purred out to Mayloi in amusement. "Now that they're gone, we have her all to ourselves." I giggled as I watched him. Mayloi glanced me over then purred, giving me a cute look.

"Want to play in my treasure?" He asked me sweetly.

"No... I'm not interested in treasure like you are," I told him. Maybe when I was younger. He frowned then reached for me.

"Why not? Treasure is beautiful~ It calls out to me when I see it," he purred then leaned his head back against Laurence's leg as he held a handout for me. "We could play in it with Laurence~"

"It doesn't call out to me," I mumbled. "You can go play in it." He frowned then crawled up into Laurence's lap.

"I'm not leaving my daddy," he told me firmly.

"Okay," I whispered. I heard the door open as a maid walked in then paused.

"Master Laurence... would you like some tea to be served for you and your guest?" She asked as she brushed her brown hair back behind her ear as her blue eyes lingered on me. A kind smile lit up her face as she stepped into the room more, her shoes clicking on the stone floor.

"No, we're fine. Thank you," Laurence told her and rubbed Mayloi's head.

"Are you sure?" She asked then looked towards Laurence and Mayloi. "Young master, you usually ask for tea." Mayloi frowned as he watched her then leaned into Laurence, rubbing his head against him before he moaned as he got his chin rubbed.

"We don't need tea right now," Laurence purred out in amusement. She nodded then smiled.

"Is there anything else you'd like? Perhaps some music? I think Bruno is practicing the violin in the music room currently...." She smoothed out her skirt and giggled.

"You could set us up the chess board," Laurence told her and smirked. She nodded and went over to the shelves, picking up his wooden chess board then brought it over to the desk, starting to set it up for him as she hummed lightly. Mayloi tightened his grip a little on Laurence as he watched her and rubbed his head lightly against Laurence's chest as his eyes lingered on her movements. Laurence rubbed his temples before he eyed her over and got up slowly.

"Mayloi, go somewhere," Laurence told him calmly. "Your clinginess will lower my skills." Mayloi looked at Laurence then got to his feet before he gave a small whine but started for the door.

"Yes daddy," he said innocently. "I'll go eat fish~" He bounced out of the room and purred at the thought.

"You're not ten anymore!" Laurence reminded him. "So don't make a maid cook one for you!"

"OKAY! Baleen!" I heard him call out quickly, running off before Laurence could tell him no. Laurence frowned and eyed the door over.

"Baleen is napping...." He mumbled and trailed off. The maid finished setting up the chess board then moved a chair in front of it and smiled at me.

"Here you go, miss," she said and patted the seat for me. I went over and sat down at the chess board then waited on Laurence as he sat down across from me. "If that's all you need young master, I'll go see if I'm needed elsewhere," she told him and smiled at him.

"How about you bring us back some blood," Laurence purred to her. She nodded and grinned before she left the room quickly, shutting the door behind her. Laurence watched her before making the first move on the board and gave me a playful smirk. I giggled and chose my move carefully. When we play together, we play for fun.

After a few minutes, I heard the door open, and the maid walked back in with two glasses of blood on a tray, coming over to us and setting it down. She gave Laurence his first then set mine down in front of me as she picked the tray up. "There you go," she said softly then smiled. "Anything else?"

"No... We're fine. Thank you," Laurence purred out to her. She nodded then walked towards the door with a soft hum.

"Enjoy your game, young master," she told him then left. He looked towards me before sighing softly and continued the game with me.

~Time Skip~

"We managed to kill twelve deer, Rose~" Victor purred to me as he glanced behind him for Vlad who flattened his ears.

"Victor," he grumbled then stepped in front of him, putting his bow across his body over his shoulders. "I killed five of them for you," he said and gave me a sweet smile. "How was your time with Laur-"

"Rose! I found a flower out in the woods that reminded me of you," Victor said calmly and smirked, pulling out a wild rose from in his ear then offered it to me. I saw Vlad shoot him a look, but he clenched his jaw, glaring at him. I giggled and took the rose quickly before I eyed it over. Wow! How thoughtful... This was in the woods?

"Thank you, Victor," I purred out to him before I placed it behind my ear. He smiled at me and pulled me into a hug before he kissed my head.

"Aww, anything for my friend's little sister," he purred to me then pulled away before he looked at Laurence. "Your servants are cleaning the deer and preparing them for supper." Vlad walked up to me then smiled at me as he leaned in and kissed my cheek.

"The rose looks good in your hair," he murmured to me.

"You think so? I love roses... It's a good thing I'm named Rose," I purred out and pulled him into a hug. He purred loudly and flicked his ears, his arms wrapping around me quickly as he laughed.

"I'll have to chase the princes off soon, huh?" He whispered. "They'll be offering you more and more roses."

"What? I like roses.... don't chase them off if they keep offering me them." I giggled at the thought of getting so many roses it would fill up a treasure room.

"No~ They'll ask you to marry them or something," he said and smirked. "I'll chase them all off. They'll have to go through me and Paris first."

"That's not very fair...." I frowned as I eyed him over. "Don't chase them off."

"You don't want to get married, do you?" He asked me and tilted his head. "That would terrible. You'd have to move out of the castle and then go live with some awful prince and give him kids...."

"Awful? What if he's the love of my life?" I asked and frowned. "Vlad~ One day I will get married and have kids... and it'll be because I met someone that brought me flowers." Vlad frowned at me and pulled back, laying his ears flat against his head.

"You'd really marry someone?" He asked me and furrowed his eyebrows as his eyes studied mine.

"Maybe," I whispered softly and blushed. "Don't look so unhappy."

"How can I not be unhappy? You'd leave, and I'd be stuck with my rotten brother," he whispered.

"Hey... your brother isn't rotten," I grumbled. "He's a good guy and so is mine." I crossed my arms as I watched him. He tsked and then looked away from me.

"F-fine... but don't leave," he whispered.

"Fine," I grumbled and eyed him over. "I won't leave. He'll just have to live with us." He looked at me then leaned in and smelled me as he flicked his ears.

"You're my friend, Rose.... Of course, I would want you to stay...." He kissed my cheek then leaned in towards my neck before I felt his fangs scrap against my neck as he moved closer. I giggled and pushed him away quickly and gave him a tsk.

"I know you want me to stay... but you have to grow up too Vlad and realize I'm not going to be around all the time."

"I did ask you to marry me when we were younger, didn't I?" He asked me and laughed. "Miss 'you're my kitty, not a prince'." I giggled and shook my head.

"We can't get married~" I tapped him on the nose. "You're a brother to me."

"Since when?" He asked and smiled at me. "Just because our brothers sleep together doesn't mean that we couldn't have gotten married."

"Well you might think it's okay but-" I blushed at him. "I want to find my soul mate," I whispered. I leaned in and gave his cheek a kiss. "So, you should look for yours." He purred a little then took my hand in his.

"I know.... You told me no centuries ago," he whispered. "I'm still going to protect you though." I tsked as I eyed him over. Why'd he bring it up anyways if he knew it's a no? He kissed my hand then glanced towards Victor who was smirking at us as he leaned against Laurence's desk.

"So, love birds, are you two done?" He asked and raised an eyebrow at us.

"We're not love birds," I whispered. "Did you not just hear the whole conversation we had?" I asked.

"If you say so," he said and then crossed his arms before he smirked. "Do you want to sit by me at the bonfire?" He reached for my hand and purred loudly.

"Sure!" I giggled and took his hand quickly. He pulled me to him before he chuckled and got off the desk, putting his hand on my waist then started to waltz around the room with me.

"Sure? We'll be looking up at the stars next to a bonfire and telling stories~ It'll be lots of fun!"

"What kind of stories could you possibly know- Mr. Artic Wolf."

"Oh I know tons of stories~ I can tell you some about wolves, about vampires, about the revolution before we knew you even existed, my childhood- but beware, that's dark~" He smirked and exposed his fangs as he drew me closer and spun us around the chairs gracefully.

"Well... I would love to hear anything you want to tell me," I purred out to him.

"If I knew the secrets of the universe, I'd tell you those," he told me and smirked before he kissed my cheek then spun me out from his arms and drew me back in, dipping me back as he caught me and leaned over me. I heard Vlad lightly hiss as his eyes lingered on us. I giggled and gave him a small purr.

"Well then we'll have to get the one that knows to talk," I whispered before looking directly at Laurence.

"No," he said calmly.

"Aww, why not?" Victor asked and pulled me up to my feet before he teleported in front of Laurence and snatched him into his arms, starting to lead him in a dance around the study. "You know everything, and we're your dear friends~"

"If I tell you anything, then you'll find life dull and you'll leave me. Not knowing is more fun and gives you a good reason to live." I saw Victor smirk before he twirled Laurence then brought him back into his arms, changing the dance quickly into a waltz.

"Then tell us a story tonight~ You are the host, after all," he purred and looked down at Laurence.

"Alright... I'll tell you something but then I'll have to get you extremely drunk so you can forget it."

"Don't you know I always carry vodka?" Victor asked and chuckled darkly. "I could be drunk right now, and you wouldn't know."

"You're always drunk," I told him and tsked. "I'll do something about that one day."

"Will you?" Victor asked and looked towards me quickly, pausing mid-step with Laurence. "Good luck trying to get it all away from me first~" He winked at me then and smirked playfully.

"I'll figure something out Victor~ I'm going to start studying medicine just because you're challenging me." He raised an eyebrow at me then grinned.

"You'll have to get a tutor~ I doubt that a school or doctor will take you seriously in an age like this! When you finally do learn medicine, you should be my doctor. I'll fire whoever is doing it when the time comes," he told me and then went back to dancing with Laurence.

"I'll learn," I grumbled. "You can't tell me I can't do something. I'll do it!" I crossed my arms quickly. I'll get started right away. I saw his lips curl up into a smirk as he watched Laurence.

"I wish you the best of fortunes when you tell your brother that's what you want to do. He might not fund it~" Victor warned me. "If anything, you might be better off stealing my vodka from me or setting Val on me. Oh! How is Val, Laurence? I haven't heard from her for a few years. I've been so busy making my country the best it can be."

"She's fine," Laurence said calmly and purred in amusement. I clenched my jaw as I watched them. I can do whatever I want. I'm a pureblood princess. I'll find a way to do it.

"I should pay her a visit after I'm done visiting you," he hummed out and then smirked. "She'd love that."

"She would~ I tell you what... I'll invite her here," Laurence purred out. "So we can all party while Rose and Vlad is here looking for their priest."

"A priest?"

"Yes, we're looking for a priest," Vlad spoke up and sat down in a chair, crossing his legs. "It's top secret-"

"It's to get your ears fixed, isn't it?" Victor asked curiously and eyed over Vlad's ears, watching as they flattened quickly.

"N-no."

"Don't lie.... I know why you're doing it. Why else would you look for a priest?" Victor hummed out then slowed down their dance to a more elegant one.

"We're looking for him and his older brother," I mumbled.

"They're going to see a priest tomorrow to get it fixed," Laurence purred out. "So this is going to be a very fun and eventful week. You should stick around." Victor nodded.

"I will have to~" Baylorik walked into the room then and frowned as he watched the two dancing then cleared his throat.

"I'm leaving now," he spoke up, looking towards Laurence. "I thought I'd come tell you goodbye before I go."

"Goodbye," Laurence grumbled and slowed down to look at him. "I hope you enjoy your peace on the other side of that portal." Baylorik frowned but gave a nod.

"Thank you," he whispered then petted a small dragon on his shoulder. "I left instructions on how to get to the portal in my nest. If Mayloi ever ends up in danger, you can take him there and he can escape to our realm." He watched Laurence closely then gave a slight purr. "You were a good master. I'm happy I didn't eat you."

"Just make sure you're not followed," Laurence sighed out and stopped dancing to look at Baylorik. I frowned and walked up to him and grabbed his shoulders. Poor Laurence... He's losing a friend. Baylorik nodded then walked up to Laurence and held out his arms for a hug.

"I might come check on you every now and then," he mumbled and smiled. I felt Laurence tense up a little.

"I don't c-care if you do," he mumbled. "Just leave." I saw Baylorik frown before he turned away from Laurence and started for the door, rubbing Divya's head.

"I left a scale in my nest for you too," I heard Baylorik mumble as he reached the door. "Something for you to remember me by."

"Thanks," Laurence whispered. "But I'll always remember you."

"Good~" Baylorik purred and glanced over his shoulder before he smiled at Laurence. "I'll see you in a few years. I might let you meet my hatchlings if I have them!" He waved then kissed Divya's head as he walked out and shut the door behind him.

"It wasn't that long ago that you hated him," Victor mumbled and rubbed Laurence's shoulders comfortingly. "He came a long way staying here with you. Even I noticed he was less of an evil dragon after staying with you for so long...."

"He still murdered my dragon," Laurence whispered. "I'm not going to cry over him leaving," he sniffled out and crossed his arms. "Good riddance."

"Laurence..." Victor whispered then gently kissed the top of his head. "You still loved him. He stayed with you so long and cared so much about you. Of course, you're going to miss him. No one would blame you if you cried or even went after him to see him out." Laurence let out a small whine before he disappeared in shadows. I could hear a small thud outside the door and Baylorik groaning like he had been tackled.
