Chapter 139 - Patrolling

The mission has gone so well yesterday, that the people from there let Fiona, Diana and I spare the gold we've taken from the vampire, but we had another plan to use, and by that was to pay Diana's disciple parents, as a sorry excuse we have let their son being eaten by a vampire. When we have done that, the parents of that child cried, took the gold into their house, then we all leave. We are going to our houses, and these parents are going to start preparing the funeral for their child.

On the next day, Fiona with me, we are going to the Royal Palace because it is our turn to patrol this Capital. And this patrol consist like every patrol we are doing since I have started this mission of becoming a squire.

When we arrived to the gates of this Royal Palace, we greeted two guards against there, like we every time do when we go to our workplace. Then, we are going to the back house where we are changing into our uniforms. This would be only in Fiona's case since she always let her armor locked, and I am a mage squire, I already wear my armor because I have to wash it three days ago, and I let it at the house dry it.

I stay outside the house, and wait for Fiona to came back prepared. Then, I see Ron coming out of his house, and I also saw him waving at me. Then I waved back, and he goes into the castle together with the knight he is working for, Marcus. I wonder how is his life going on because I haven't talked with him that much in the last days since I have started to became a secret adventurer/assassin in a guild founded secretly by my King.

After a few more minutes, both of us are leaving this Royal Palace by riding our horses. The King has recently bought a lot of horses for knights and squires, since almost every single kingdom has a horse for everyone who is working in the Royal Palace. And our king gave us the fastest ones which is a nice thing, But I and Fiona knows the reason why he did that... And we are not complaining.

We do make a right and ride along the path where carriages are mostly driven. While we were patrolling on this area, we do saw a few people walking on these busy streets, or going to their workplace, in some cases. And our patrolling mostly consist into walking around this area and helping everyone in need, or stopping a big crime to happen.

"Did you had a nightmare recently?" asks Fiona suddenly after she slowed down a bit to be at my horse speed because mine is still considered a "pony" by other knights.

"No. Why?" I asked her.

"Just checking. I feel worried since your latest dream."

"How you can be worried about that? It probably will not happen to you, not to me." I responded to her because I told her about my latest dream I had, and this was four nights ago.

***

Four nights ago, on Lunderberg House. I am lying on my bed, from my room, prepared for a good night of sleep. Before I was about to sleep, I take a look at my wand, the one which will be destroyed and replaced with another one in the near future.

"Hey, God of Sleep! Would you do me a favor?" I said to the ceiling, thinking there would be the God of Dreams there, staring at me and wondering about the thing I do want from him. "I do want to know if you can make me have those nightmares I had in the war. The ones who saved those two people from being killed. Could you do that to me?" and then, I used my wand on me, then say the spell "Sleep" to make asleep immediately.

I jumped on the dreams world and the dream I had was about something I couldn't figure out to this day, even thought this one it is recent. The dream showed me a few sequences where I am in the middle of a fight, two warriors dressed in some different type of armor lying on the grass. Fiona, bleeding around while she is holding with her right hand her gigantic sword. Ulfred having a bunch of arrows behind his back. Luiza, staying on her knees next to Mario's body, and crying because he was killed due to three swords.

This has made me feel scared instantly even though this was only a future dream vision, which it can be still changing. And I realized this after one huge guy, used his spear to cut my stomach. And this felt so real, even though it wasn't... I... Don't even know what to say... This dream has really made me feel stressed out because at any time I could die, and this time, If I die... I'll die for good.

After a few hours using our horses to ride all along this Capital walls, we didn't encountered many problems, nor requests of help. Looks like this day it is going so well for me and Fiona since our last patrol which was exhausting for me because I had to heal a few people who have escaped from a big house which was lightened by a small girl who played with a candle. We did save all of those people from there, and a few objects from that house. And yes, I could've used a water spell to stop this fire, but it doesn't work that easily, and it was also because all my mana was going into healing 15 peasants. And this requires a big quantity of mana, almost of my quantity I do possess right now.

We are stopping in front of a wizard's store, and there, Fiona handed me a bag of coins, then she told me. She smiled at me with a soft smile, something I haven't seen in a while, and this still made me feel scared because of her appearance, but I do start to get over it and accept her personality.

"Go and buy yourself a wand. I hope those will be enough."

"Thank you, Fiona." I said after I looked at the bag of coins she handed me, then I do asks her. "What for?"

"It was my fault for breaking your wand."

"No it wasn't." I told her. "I was that nasty vampire. Also, don't put this on you, Fiona. You are an amazing warrior and a great knight. This small mistake was from me."

"... So you will take the money?" asks Fiona.

"Of course. You do forget you spent my salary on the booze for your father birthday?"

"It was a gift from both of us."

"And you didn't ask me for this permission."

"Fair point." she then proceeds to make her horse move. "Meet me on the Dobrat Library to continue our patrol."

"I will." I responded to her before I put my horse, chained him to a lamppost and go into the store to buy myself a new wand.

A few moments after I entered the store, I left with a silver wand, something I do never thought I will get my hands on to this day. And it cost that bag of coins Fiona handed me. I have to thank her for doing this great gesture to me, after all the things I have done in these recent days.

I hop on my horse, and I head to the Library of Dobrat, the place where she told me we will meet after I will buy my wand. While I am riding through these streets, I do saw a familiar face there. And the person was Gregonson, who was staying still and did nothing, into the middle of the street, with his eyes closed, dressed into that orange dress, while he was doing a praying position I do saw him doing one time when we got into a mission. I leave him doing his thing and headed to Fiona Lunderberg.
