"What if?" Staring blankly at the sky, Xavier asked.
"What if?" Propping her head towards him, she questioned back.
"What if I, ?"
"Pick up the damn phone. pick up the damn phone." Her sudden ringtone baffled both of them that Xavier let out a huge sigh.
"Sorry." Sitting up, she took the phone and a huge smile crept her lips.
"Hello." Gesturing Xavier to wait a minute, she got up and walked towards the ladder.
And Xav's imaginary bunny ears drooped down in a slowmo. All he wished was to be with her, irritate her, bicker with her but was left with nothing but emptiness.
...
Mia's Room.
"Yeah, I was on the rooftop." Pouncing on the bed, Mia answered.
"Hmm."
"Are you tired?"
"A bit."
"Hmm, don't worry my voice will soothe your nerves."
Chuckling at her comment, Ian questioned back,
"How is that?"
"Because in everyone's life, there is one happy pill and according to research they have this special to soothe one's heart."
"But you were my happy pill!" Ian controlling chuckle, said wanting to tease her bit.
"Is it?" She questioned back in confusion.
"Hmm."
"Then, it's ok. Right from this moment, you would have only one happy pill and that is ME! Am I clear Mister ABOM?"
Like, as usual, her words surprised him flickering a small grin on his face. Those cute dimples were sure beautiful to admire.
"What is ABOM now?"
"Of course, #Annoyingbutonlymine." She answered crawling back to hug her comfy pillow.
His small chuckle brightened her face as her plan to relax him was ultimately working out.
"Listen." With a smile, she continued,
"Check the right drawer to the left of your couch."
Following her order, Ian did and a chocolate box popped out.
"What's this now?" He asked in all smiles.
"I know its just 3 days for election and you would surely stay there for a week even after elections, so those are the stress boosters." With a small smile, she continued,
"Where you stand or sit to take a decision. Or where ever you sit back to think deeply, I have placed them everywhere. There are around 3 boxes at every place, if they are less there are much in your fridge. Just keep them munching only whenever you feel stressed. Got it?"
"Yes, Doctor." And his comment earned a small giggle from her.
"But eat less, I don't you to gain weight nor do get diabetes got it?"
"Yes Yes." With a small laugh, he answered.
"Are you nervous?" Turning around, she put the phone on speaker and continued to talk to him.
"A bit to be honest."
"It's good for your health. Don't worry, even if by chance you won't end up as a president, you can be a cook. You have great cooking skills, to be honest."
"Really?"
"And I do work in a reputed hospital, money won't be problem. Don't worry."
"Hahaha, ok."
"No, I am serious about this. I will earn money outside, you can cook and feed me daily inside the house."
She answered as her eyes drooped down, tired and sleepy.
"But isn't it the opposite? Men should earn and Women should take care of the family."
"Change is drastic. Things change, traditions too." Yawning out, Mia answered.
Understanding that she was sleepy, he simply sat on his chair and let her sleep.
Minutes passed and finally, he heard her steady breaths.
With a small smile, he placed the phone aside on a speaker and opened his laptop.
Looking at their picture, picture of their hands, beautifully intertwined like grapevines on the home screen, he mumbled with a smile,
"You would forever be my happy pill."
...
Slowly walking in her room, Arthur sighed looking at her sleeping posture.
Adjusting her and the blanket, he looked at the phone and sighed.
But his eyes widened looking at the name on the screen,
"Its HIM" Mumbling the weird Caller ID, placing it near his ear and Arthur mumbled,
"Hello?"
Startled by the sudden voice, Ian took the phone and answered back,
"Hello?"
"Who is this?" Arthur asked while walking a bit further from the bed so as to not to disturb her sleep.
"Hello, Sir. It's Ian. Ian Alexander Finn."
"Ooh, you. She is sleeping, why didn't you end the call?"
Hesitating whether, to tell the truth, or lie, Ian thought for a minute and answered,
"Its actually, ugh ugh had turned into a habit to be on call till she wakes up in the morning."
For a moment, even though Arthur felt it childish, it didn't fail to amuse him at the same time.
"Should I just keep it on call or?"
"It's ok, Sir. You can end the call."
"Ok." And with that, Arthur looked at the screen.
Thinking for a while, Arthur walked beside her and placing it near her pillow, he walked out.
He didn't press that red button and Ian was glad about it.
...
Next Day.
"You are up?" Audrina welcomed the half-awake Mia with a hug.
Snuggling in her embrace, Mia sat beside her on the couch.
"Get ready!" His sudden voice squinted her eyes but she ignored him completely.
"I said get ready." Clenching her mouth with both his hands, Xavier glared at her to which she just yelled.
"Ouch. Mom." Xavier looked at his Mom who just slapped hard right on his head.
"She isn't a child anymore. Stop being rude with my princess."
Rubbing her eyes, Mia mumbled,
"It's ok aunty. The pressure he applies while being rude helps me exercise my muscles."
"See, how flexible my jaw his now." She mumbled moving her jaw in all directions she could.
"Hahahaha, my Lil Bean is the best." Pulling her into a hug, Audrina warned her son with that scary glare.
"Get ready," Xavier repeated himself to which Mia just blinked.
"Where?" Stretching her arms, Mia asked.
"Our base." And those words made her gulp in fear.
"I won't."
"You should." Arthur got down with a scary face.
And she knew that expression very well, it meant that she was already in great danger and there was no escape plan!
